Not sure how to give this place 3.5 stars but that's my true rating. Service was really a 4.0 then ambiance and food a little lower. It was a very rainy day! We walked in for a late lunch and were seated right away. Our server was quite engaging and actually friendly. We struggled to find what we wanted and the server recommended the arugula and prosciutto pizza. It wasn't excellent, but certainly very good. Prosciutto pieces could have been smaller. The music was pleasant and the atmosphere low key French. Post lunch we wanted to have coffee but the server straightaway brought us the check. We let her know and then he ordered an affogato (basic but good) and I had a cappuccino. She popped by again and we chatted before paying the bill. Overall, nice experience. read more

This place has always been a hit n' miss for me. The service is either painfully slow or annoyingly too in your face. Just went for lunch today. Ordered an Arugula salad although our over friendly server didn't quite know what it was. My friend ordered the Avo Croissant. Both arrived in good time. The salad was ordered as a main course however, it was the size of an appy and looked extremely sparse. They must've run out of croissants too for the Avo Croissant was actually a slice of toast with just a thin spread of avocado. Our server was swooping in on us constantly that really became quite invasive. I understand she was trying to be attentive, but this was just a bit too much. I can't believe how much I paid for such a frugal portioned main course salad. Still felt hungry after I left. Will spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere. read more

Very calming, beautiful little restaurant. The food was delicious, albeit a tad bit overpriced, but being Vancouver I did not expect otherwise. Servers were punctual, but when it is packed it is a little slow, but more in a European way, where you enjoy to sit and talk and listen and watch. Overall I would give 3.5 stars to Bellagio Cafe. My friend had a birthday brunch and breakfast with a bunch of friends and me around 1pm. We made a reservation as we had more than 10 people. It was great that we didn't have to wait for seats and we got seats once we had arrived. Ambiance/atmosphere: This cafe is like a big coffee shop that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The environment is quite causal and comfortable. Service: Our server treated us well and took great care of all of our orders and needs. He was friendly and polite and gave us a good impression. He would not rush us to leave the restaurant although we stayed a bit longer. We asked to order a piece of tiramisu with a candle because it was my friend's birthday. The server said unfortunately the restaurant did not have a candle. We said it was okay by just having the tiramisu. I would think that most restaurants should have some spare candles just in case someone wanted to celebrate his or her birthday there. Food: The food was really "so so" or okay. I ordered a dish of lobster roll with salad and fries. Among these three types of food in my dish, the fries tasted the best! It was hot, crispy and filling with potatoes. However, the portion of the salad was super tiny and had not much dressing and the main character of the dish that was the lobster roll did not give me any surprise! I had a really good lobster sandwiches at Joes Coquitlam in the past. This one at Bellagio Cafe had nothing special. The bun was good but the lobster inside the bun was "meh".... Pricing: The pricing is just like the one in other restaurants in downtown Vancouver. They are not too cheap or too expensive. But if I would have a choice to have brunch in downtown, I would probably go to Forage with better food and better quality. read more

I enjoyed the food. However, what accompanied the Eggs Benedict is just sad. A small handful of rather sad looking, dry potatoes. No fresh vegetable came with it, which made for a rather starchy, bready experience. The french toast was good, but the fruit was sparse. Could be better. read more

Stumbled upon this Vancouver gem after a visit to Vancouver Art Gallery. Bellagio Cafe, is conveniently opposite the Vancouver Art Gallery entrance. This gem of a restaurant is elegant, charming, comfortable and inviting.The tasteful art deco and old world inspired ambiance transported us to a bygone era of sophistication. The service and food were terrific. The owners Barbara and Emile personally greeted us with warm smiles and conversation (particularly Barbara) and made us feel like cherished guests. The staff was wonderful, with special mention to Vicky, our attentive and friendly waitress. The cappuccinos were a velvery blend of robust flavour, so my boyfriend and I both ordered two each. The flatbread pizza was delicious, with a crispy crust and an array of fresh toppings. The calamari was deliciously tender, perfectly seasoned and served with a yummy tangy creamy dipping sauce. And the true star of the menu is the TIRAMISU!!! It's a piece of heaven on a plate, made with delicious slightly gooey very velvety mascarpone cream. It was one of the best Tiramisu's I've tasted. Each bite was a harmonious balance of sweetness and richness. A very pretty little place just down the block from the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, with a nice outdoor seating area. The patio area overlooks the street, but must be nice when the tempetature is above 20C, and it's not raining... The staff are pleasant, attentive and welcoming. We tried their breakfast special- 2 eggs, potatoes, toast and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage. All for $9.99 Canadian. A very good price, and so close to the Fairmont, I was surprised to see so many people having breakfast there on our way out. read more

Be careful chewing your food here. I bit into a literal ROCK and chipped my tooth. Shocked by how this was dealt with. Beware. Not sure how a rock ended up in the calamari. I have been to Bellagio twice for weekend brunches. I would say I am really happy that there is a brunch place that don't require ridiculous Long line up for brunches in Vancity and that is here. The brunches are hearty! The garden skillet that I had was filling and tasty. The eggs Benny were alright. The service is good! During our exploration in downtown Vancouver, we discovered Bellagio Cafe just around the corner of the Vancouver Art Gallery. It was happy hour time so it was worth a try without losing too much money on bad food. Enviroment: The place is huge and creatively decorated. In my opinion, the decor caters to the older demographic as the place seemed dim and older artifacts. It can use a brighter decor to cater to the younger folks. But that doesnt stop me from eating good food. Price: During Happy Hour my favorites are on sale, fries and calamari. At half price each I can see it being a worthwhile meal. During regular times, I can see their prices being in the higher end. However, they offer meals that are not really offered in other restaurants which is to their advantage. Food presentation: Not messy and sloppy. Clean, good portion and fairly quick. Overall: This a must try place! I'd like to see this place a bit busier and get the notice it deserves. This place was a welcomed sight on a cold and rainy night looking for a place to eat. Once inside I was directed to a table on the left hand side of the restaurant. Since I was dining solo it gave me a great view of the entire room so I could take everything in. Since I am in Canada I figured I would order the local beer Molson I found it nice and refreshing and a perfect compliment to the pizza. The menu had so many choices that I ended up with just a simple tomato pie. Nice thin crust made it easy to eat the entire pizza myself. Anyway who's going to tell. The service was good considering it was late and only three tables were occupied. Would definitely come back the next time I am in Vancouver. I know there is a real problem with staff shortages everywhere, so I tried to make allowances. We went for breakfast and were seated with menus pretty quickly. About 15 minutes later she came to take our order. about 20 minutes after that, my partner's breakfast was brought out. Another 5 minutes passed, and I caught the server and asked if mine would be coming out soon. 5 minutes later, mine was finally brought out. I think the norm is to bring both meals together? The food was fine, although the eggs were overhard, not overeasy. But, pretty pricey, no real apologies were given , the place was not that busy, and we were pretty much ignored while other people were served. Would not recommend. read more

Came here during lunch time and had their Margherita pizza. The crust was thin (which I liked). The toppings were minimal. I know that Margherita is mainly based on three ingredients; tomatoes, cheese and basil. Each of the ingredients were so minimal, it was like eating plain dough. It was basically tasteless..... This place was recommended by the concierge at our hotel around the corner. It was a really good breakfast choice. We both took the $13.99 breakfast deal. Coffee was good and came quickly. Food and service were excellent. Fried potatoes seemed to have a touch of paprika and onion. Bacon and eggs were delicious. Our server was super polite and attentive, and made no errors. My 3 friends and I dropped in for a quick bite before biking the seawall on BC Day. This was pretty much the only place that didn't have a line up. The food was ok, but our biggest problem was the service from one of the servers. I heard the couple at the table next to ours say, "It's so strange that she just stood there and looked over my shoulder as I was paying with the credit terminal, seems like bad customer service. If I were running the restaurant I would take some respectful steps away or leave and come back in a few moments." I didn't think much of it, till it was time for our table to pay. She brought the credit terminal, then said, "In case you are not aware, 15% tip is not included in the bill." I can see that this can be a totally innocent statement, but when it is followed by this next question, "Where are you girls from? Out of town?" (We were all Asian girls) I was a little annoyed when I replied, no, we're local. She also stood and "breathed down our neck" as we were paying. Needless to say, she did not receive a 15% tip. I don't know why some servers in the restaurant industry feel they are entitled to tip, and a certain percentage at that. It really turns me off from wanting to dine out when I experience this kind of attitude. read more

Service slow killed this place in the review. I would say this was really one of the slowest places I have ever been to. I want to blame the waitress we had, since we did see other people getting waited on. We sat outside and ordered the breakfast special, eggs, toast, meat and potatoes for $10. It was nothing special. I asked for a grapefruit juice and had to ask for it three times and then finally asked the waitress for the other table. Our waitress never came back to check on us once she dropped the food off. I had a good time because I was on vacation with my husband, the weather was good and we were on the street, but that doesn't really make up for lack of service. The people at the table next to us were complaining when we sat down, this should have been giant warning shot across our table. They were asking for more coffee, they never got it. They asked for the bill, and finally they got up and went inside for it. They came out and walked by us talking about how bad service was. That was a different waitress from ours. Let this be your warning shot. There are better places to eat, I would look for them next time. read more

This was definitely our worst experience at a restaurant. Our party of seven all had issues with their dish. The fruit was unwashed.The skillet dish had overcooked bacon (reference picture 1), and each of the three eggs was overcooked. One of us was given the wrong food, and they refused to take it back. A kid came up and licked our table. Side note, not our kid. One of us ordered bacon on the side, and it came out dangerously uncooked. The salmon on the eggs Benedict was eh. The omelet eggs were super runny, and wet. At least the toast was good, the highlight of the meal. Caesar salad had a Ridiculous amount of parmesan cheese. The potatoes were very soft and untasteful, nothing to write home about. Overall just a terrible experience. Completely ruined my mood. read more

All around it was a mediocre experience. I went with a party of six, three of us local and the other three from out of town. We decided to go for breakfast at a place close to the Fairmont where they were staying. Decor was beautiful and it was very busy, so we assumed it was a great place to eat! Two of us showed up a bit late to find than the rest of our party had been waiting for 30 minutes. No water, no coffee, no menus. We were there for 15 more minutes until someone flagged down a server. The server proceeded to snap at us and act like we were an annoyance, made no attempt at any sort of conversation, didn't even look at us. Finally we got our drinks (which she slammed down) and quickly stopped her before she left again so we could order food. I've never felt more like I'm inconveniencing someone. I got the Bellagio French Toast, my partner got the traditional breakfast, everyone else got Eggs Benny. My French toast and my partner's sausages were the best of everything...but that wasn't saying much. At best the other items tasted like generic Denny's food, at worst they were overcooked and dry. I'm really disappointed. There are so many amazing, unique, life changing breakfast places in Vancouver and our visitors didn't get the chance to experience them this time. read more

If I had to choose for action's sake, between this one or their Waterfront, it's a close call. you can't lose either way, good ambience for both but would give the Hornby a slight edge b/c it's a bit more Italian inside. I haven't eaten at the other location but can say the customer service here is pretty good and friendly. Had breakfast way back when, but they've got pasta and pizza. In fact, they've been here for decades, it seems, and truly authentic. Or at least Italian-owned lol Major busy during the office lunch rush. Each meal came with 2 eggs, meat of choice, 2 pieces of the best toast ever, and their house made potatoes which were also so good! Really good well priced easy and convenient breakfast. We also added on 1 waffle (can't remember which one but I remember it was $7 CAD) but it was definitely worth it, also really good! The hostess had was the one who took our order, and she was very busy but had great customer service and communication skills! read more

I discovered this place when my parents and I were looking for a late-night snack after having been to an exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery (his restaurant is right across the street). The late night snacks were good, the place was clean and quiet, so this past weekend I decided to return with a few friends to try eating a "proper" dinner there. I wasn't sure what the place would be like on a Saturday night, so just to be safe I made reservations. There were already a few tables when we arrived. As the night wore on, the place seemed to fill up but not once did it feel too noisy or stuffy. There is a good selection of items on the menu, and after some pondering I decided to try Mama's Lasagna. Within the first two bites I agreed wholeheartedly with the name: the lasagna was delicious but not overbearing, and had me reminiscing of the lasagna that my mom used to make. The waiters were friendly and ready to answer our questions about the menu. The only slight downside was that it seemed to take awhile before our food was served, and a bit of a lag before our empty plates were picked up, but we didn't mind too much as we didn't have any plans to rush off to. I got a good response from my friends (it was their first time at the restaurant) and will consider future visits, perhaps to try Brunch! read more

Do not go here if you have any allergies or special dietary needs. The staff are not trained properly and do not take allergies seriously. I went here with a group of friends and 3 out of the 3 people that ordered non-dairy had their drinks made wrong. All 3 asked for almond milk and were served dairy milk. Even after triple checking with the server and asking her check again with the barista that it was almond milk... she assured us to our faces that is was almond milk but turns out she never even checked and also failed to even put the order through as *almond milk. When we started to feel sick, we decided to get the bill and talk to the barista directly, who right away admitted that all the drinks were made with dairy milk. When we got our server's attention and informed her she was wrong about our drinks and explained that we're allergic, her first response was "well it was just skim milk, that's not as bad". Two of us were sick for the rest of the night and had to bail on the plans we had with the rest of the group. The staff here clearly do not understand or take food allergies or sensitivities seriously and I doubt that they consider the many other ethical reasons people may choose not to consume dairy. On top of all of that, the prices are extremely high considering how low the quality of service and drinks are. read more
