This is that secret that you want to share but keep to yourself because you want it to remain as amazing as it is. This beautiful vineyard is quaint, offers great wine, and the owners treat you like family. If you're a member, the cave dinner is spectacular. There is something about a delicious sunset dinner, and great wine that fills the heart. The owners are so incredibly knowledgeable about the winemaking process, that you'll be pulled into the stories, and you'll want to be part of the process. If you haven't been to Plymouth, you will want to go. Yes, the wind is that good. If you've been to Plymouth, and you haven't been to BelkaGrace, you should be asking yourself, when are you going.

Had a great time yesterday visiting this winery. It was hot outside, so ducking into their tasting cave was perfect. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I prefer white wine, so I was happy to see a dedicated white wine flight. I liked them all! After sampling their olive oils, we walked away with some basil infused oil. Highly recommend checking them out!

Relaxing with the Girl Scout cookie pairing so yummy

It just so happened I was interested in doing the Girl Scout pairing and I thought this was a different winery. I am glad I did ...we were told to have a seat and someone would be with us soon. I assumed it would take a while, but to my surprise a sweet girl name Migali I think that's her name ...greeted us right away with the pairings of Girl Scout cookies and wine she then explained every wine. A few moments later someone brought us some olive oil tasting with tiny bits of bread. They were sooooo good. I purchased the blackberry balsamic. Migali gave us a tour of the cave on the grounds where they have special dinners and events. It was a pretty good way to start our wine day!

Tented room with tables and chairs

To get to Bella Grace Wine Cave, we drove down Upton Road in Plymouth, which is a long narrow road. There are olive trees and vineyards surrounding the area where their "caves" are located. After parking our car, the first we noticed was a large tented structure with tables and chairs. I was noting the temperature rising as we walked on the gravel to where the tastings were located. We followed the signs and came to the entrance of the "cave". The caves are man-made and are tall enough for a forklift to haul in barrels of red wine to age. No need to hunch over when you walk because the height of the rounded walls is high. The caves stay at 57 degrees, and you may want to bring a light weight jacket--if you tend to get chilled easily. In the caves, there are tables and chairs to sit and taste wines. You'll also see barrels of wine neatly stacked. You get 5 pours for $15 (which is waived if you buy a bottle of wine). It was HOT outside, and very comfortable inside as we tasted their wines. You can also taste their olive oil--which is delicious. They have 20 acres of grapes that they grow sustainably, and also grow olive trees. If your group is less than 8 peeps you don't need a reservation. Tastings are Thursday-Monday 11-4. I recommend going here during the hottest time of the day to experience the contrasting coolness of the caves.

KUDOS To Charlie and Michael for opening up their beautiful establishment for this special 'Winemakers Dinner" event in celebration of members Nancy and Robert Van Neyhof. I have enjoyed the Sutter Creek Tasting Room several times, the vineyard years ago. Thanks to Nancy and Robert V, I had a fabulous reacquaintance of the vineyard recently. Tasting rooms are fun, but being out in the countryside, seeing vineyards, and talking to the staff, usually the owners, is so much fun. Off Shenandoah Road east of Plymouth, on a single car lane road, is this beautiful 50 acre vineyard and wine cave. The lane in is lined with olive trees that Bella Grace uses to produce a variety of olive oils they sell. There's an upper large parking area to the right, and a small area near the cave. At the cave entrance are several tables and chairs that you can sit at while enjoying the valley view and a wine tasting. Or on a hot California afternoon you taste inside the cave. I will say I believe Bella Grace has some of the most affordable wines in the area. Many starting in the $20 range. Club membership at Bella Grace sure has its advantages. From 15-20% off wines, pick up wine parties and a killer private tasting dinner. The V's invited several of to their private wine dinner in June. We enjoyed our own cave tour, six wines presented by the owner Charlie; and a four course dinner, olive oil tasting and dessert served by owner Michael. Michael works with the local 5 star Taste to use local ingredients that are paired specifically to Bella Grace's wines. They are truly fabulous hosts with a beautiful vineyard. Absolutely I'll be back !!!

    Springtime at Bella Grace Vinyards.
    Nancy V.

What's not to love? The spot is beautiful and the wine is excellent. This was our first time up at the "caves" and I am glad we made the trek up here. They have quarterly events when they send out their shipment of wines to their wine-club members, a free tasting of the featured wines and great food. This time it was a nice flight of both white (rose) and reds. I only sampled a few as I was Designated Driver and we needed to wind our way back to Sutter Creek. The Rosado and Vermentino were both light and crispy and would be perfect for sipping on a warm summer evening. The old vine Zinfandel is also a favorite. Warm and velvety with hints of berry and spice. They were also offering wood fire oven pizza - crusty and tasty and sinfully good. I highly recommend this small, family owned vineyard. Their wines are very good and their passion for winemaking is evident,

Fun to include olive oil tasting with wine tasting. Recommend doing one of each flight and sharing.

Great winery...our wine pourer was the grand-daughter of Bella Grace....she was beautiful and she is getting married in the caves in April
    Robyn B.

We had some time to kill between our appointments and came across Bella Grace and i am so thankful that we did - what a GEM! We had the honor of our wine pourer being the grand-daughter of Bella Grace and she was so beautiful inside and out! The knowledge she shared about the wines and the olive oils and vinegars. We ended up buying the Cab and loved it! we also walked away with some vinegars and olive oils and of course we had to include the herbed salt. I can't wait to go back and spend more time and enjoy the winery even more!

How nice is this place? Not sure, we mostly sat in a heated tent area, but the wine is the bomb. I don't drink wine much anymore. But we went here based on a friends recommendation and ALL the wine we sampled was tremendous. The had a lot of nice people serving and telling us about the wine. My wife listened to that part mostly. I just try not to drink my wine too fast. Whatever they said, my wife seemed to approve. We both approved of the wine anyhow. I'd go back for sure!

In my opinion, they are doing so many things to enhance the wine tasting experience, it could blow away the competition. Examples are as follows: 1. Rebuilding, refinishing and updating the tasting room and facility. 2. Hiring the former Sous Chef from Taste restaurant to create food offerings/pairings and provide a small bite sample with wine tasting. 3. Display unique and unusual art in and around the property. (They have seven full size panels from the Berlin Wall adjacent to the tasting room.) 4. Staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 5. The wine pricing is reasonable when compared to the quality. 6. Both the food and wine are excellent. That said, I think the one possible stumbling point could be their attempt to blend in their east coast sister wines and styles with this region. It might be an interesting idea, but I am uncertain people locally will appreciate or understand the effort. The Amador wine region is not Napa Valley, and I don't think it possesses the international appeal, notoriety or demographics that will support the concept of bi-coastal wines. In any event, we will return to further experience the ongoing evolution of this remarkable winery.

It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace.
