Oh my! This place was off the hook crazy good. I took my family here for a nice dinner and everything was exceptional, from the wine, to the starter, the entree and don't get me started on the service of which was second to none. We arrived a little late and felt we might get the old hurry along of which couldn't have been any further from the truth. All the food is soooo damn good. Avoid this place for dinner! Last night, Friday night, for a sunset dinner. I reserved a table for 5 with a view. The hostess showed us a small table for 4 to squish in or a large table for 8 with no view. We took the bigger one. 1) Hostess plopped down 4 menus, not 5, and no drink menus 2) Waited 15 minutes to get water and another 10 for our first visit from the server. She said, "I'm going to take care of that big table over there then come back for your drink orders", and I said, no, take them now, please. 3) From there, the brunette waitress was nasty. Rude, plopped things down. 4) Waiting...waters left unfilled even though I asked for a jar on the table. 5) Someone plopped bread on the table with no bread plates. A bus person brought cup saucers. 6) The food was terrible. My ravioli was "al mushy" vs. "al dente". My husband's steak was tasteless. We returned the creme Brule since it had an odd taste. 7) Didn't appear to have any adult supervision...no manager. For dessert, another waiting came over and said, "Your server is busy so I'll take your desert order." 8) The restaurant had 2 large groups and then empty. We are aware of an employee shortage everywhere but have never experienced such incompetency. At one point the brunette waitress (who deserved no tip, but got one anyway), explained, "We have two large parties so we are asking for your patience." I replied, "You should have told us that when I made the reservation or when we arrived so I could choose." 9) WAY overpriced. My husband reminded me that it was just a golf clubhouse but I expected more. $260 for 5 people with only one round of drinks since we couldn't get service for another round. None of us will ever go back. Golf, yes! This restaurant, never! Not even after a golf game. Worst experience and waste of money I have experienced in the desert. read more

It was our family's first time eating at this beautiful restaurant. Let me just say it was an amazing experience. The Christmas decorations and the atmosphere was so welcoming. Our waitress Natalie was just amazing. She always made sure we had everything we need and wanted. Her recommendations were exquisite and truly let us experience the best of the restaurant. OMG. My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and it was by far and away the best meal of our trip. Bottle of wine, caeser salad (anchovies weren't needed but whatever).The Filet with their special 'B1' sauce was delicious, perfectly cooked. It could have used a couple more veggies on the side but it was hard to complain when I'm enjoying everything else so much. Also had some seared Ahi Tuna that was to die for. My wife had the Salmon Risotto and loved it. On top of that, chocolate cake at the end? It was the perfect meal. Very memorable. The place is pretty big. Bigger than I thought it would be. Lots of space. It got pretty crowded but it was nothing the staff couldn't handle with the utmost professionalism. The manager even made his way over to our table to make sure our dinner was perfect. Not all managers do that. And the bartender was a blast to chat with after we finished our meal. This place really has a good thing going here. Ambiance was great! Staff was great! The Chilean Seabass phenomenal! The price for the portion a bit ummmm pricey to say the least. What a find! We spent our Thanksgiving dinner at this restaurant and I can say that it was a blessing, from start to finish! Not only did the valet and hostess staff warmly greet us upon arrival, throughout the meal, the server (Mickela - sp?) was on top of everything and directed the other support staff to quickly remove completed dishes and refill glasses. What a pleasure to be so pampered! Add in that the food was SO exceptional that we will return for lunches and dinners. The veggie soup was a meal in itself and the turkey was the BEST that I have ever tasted! (Did I mention that the views at the foothill of these mountains is BEAUTIFUL??? - and if you happen to not absolutely LOVE your table, you can also take a nice walk on the attached balcony.) The only time I had dinner here was during a special Wine Tasting event. However, it was the same chef and staff that normally works so I'm confident the food is just as good on a regular night. I can also say that after a round of golf, bellatrix is a great place for lunch. If it's not too windy, I would definitely recommend sitting on their balcony and enjoying the beautiful views of The Classic Club. At the wine tasting dinner there were multiple courses. All were great, but the highlight of the night was definitely the main course, lamb. It was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. At lunch, I love their fish tacos and blackened mahi mahi sandwich. But honestly I've never heard of a bad meal from here. read more

Happy hour last night, 11 of us. I had a cheeseburger. Meat was done perfectly, bun was another story. Tough and rubbery, probably a nuked frozen bun. Discarded the bun and ate the meat. Fries were cold and tough to chew, three of us ordered new fries, one order arrived and they were good. Other two orders arrived as we were leaving. Wife had the quesadilla. She said it was ok, I thought it was dry and overdone. However, the part that really irks me is that they announced there was an 18% gratuity already on the bill. Ok, fine, but it was calculated on the after-tax amount, making it closer to 20%. These folks thought no one would notice, I guess. This is not only illegal, but untruthful and ultimately bad for business since we will not be going back. Shame on u, Bellatrix!!!!!! read more

I don't understand why more people don't know about this place. Apparently a lot of people go to their Happy Hour, but it appears that their dining room is not as popular, and that's a shame. The food is absolutely great. My wife has the shrimp cocktail - one of the best in the valley. So fresh and great quality. We share the filet, which is more than enough for both of this. My wife and I came by and had the Chilean Sea Bass and the Scallops and Shrimp Scampi. You can tell by the quality and presentation that they have an excellent chef! I came here with the Desert Guys and Dolls meet up group last week. Happy hour is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and our meet up started at 5:00 p.m. Bellatrix is at the Classic Club golf course. There were 10 of us and they will do up to 4 separate checks per table. From the happy hour menu, my guy got a Firestone 805 and I got the house Cabernet. We also shared the Chicken Quesadilla and the Shrimp Cocktail. Both were delicious! Great happy hour prices and the place was packed, so service was a little slow but efficient. Dinner at the Bellatrix truly an experience with beautiful views, excellent service, and a wonderful menu. The chef prepared an excellent dinner and it was served with first class service by Gina Who does a tremendous job to make sure you are very well taken care of. We had the rack of lamb which were cooked perfectly and served with vegetables and a large parmesan cheese chip. Since it was a Friday night they had the clam chowder New England Style, actually for being on the West Coast with so much clam chowder available this clam chowder was prepared excellent just the right amount of clams not too thick just a delicious bowl of clam chowder. The Caesar salad came with several anchovies on the side and it was a delicious fresh Caesars. We also had the grouper which was fresh and delicious. Unbelievable!.... I found a new restaurant. One that I'd never been too. Be persistant.. you can find it, just like I did. Follow Cook, out the other side of the freeway, and take the four lane road into the club house. It is a beautiful building, with stunning views. I was there early..around 6, as the sun was setting. Amazing!. They have one of the best happy hours that I've seen in the valley. Good drinks, with an extensive happy hour menu. Nothing over 5 bucks.... huge, easily the adequate for a meal. They have a terrific 5 dolla burger with fries. I opted to order off the regular menu, even though I was sitting in the bar. Wonderful waitress.... she was more than willing to accomodate us. This is the place to go for happy hour! Dinner was surprisingly good. I had grilled salmon. It was moist and cooked to perfection. Served on a bed of rosotto with asparagus and peas. Of course, I had chocolate for desert... are you out of your mind? I In a land full of dismal, overpriced restaurants, ....with poor service...this place is an exception. Wife and I went here last Tuesday for our anniversary. We made an early dinner reservation so that we could have a happy hour drink prior to dinner -- and that really wasn't a good idea. At 5:45, the seats at the bar were completely filled, which made ordering a cocktail a little difficult. It seemed that once those golfers plopped down for happy hour, there was no moving them. Once I did finally get the attention of the bartendress, she was quite harried, and not friendly at all. She probably said less than ten words during the entire transaction. Had my entire experience been based on the bar/bartendress, I would probably be giving this place one star; fortunately, that was not the case. My wife and I were shown to our table on the patio promptly at our reservation time. Our waitress was friendly, but seemed like she hadn't been waitressing very long. I ordered our meals, which included a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon; after a short wait, the waitress brought over a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. This was a minor mistake, and was quickly fixed. For food, my wife had the pan-seared salmon, which she said was good. I had the filet mignon, which was delicious. I probably could have cut it with my fork -- which was a good thing, because they did not provide a steak knife. The steak was tender, but cutting it with the same knife I used to butter my bread seemed odd. The highlight of our visit to Bellatrix was the host. He called me by name several times throughout the night, and checked on two different occasions to see how our anniversary was going. This guy should be training the rest of the wait staff. To summarize, we will most likely return here, but I will hope for better service -- especially from the bar staff -- with the same quality of food I experienced on this visit. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed sharing it five years ago with about 75 of our dearest friends as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there. Come to the desert probably 4 or 5 times a year and have had this restaurant on our "list" but just haven't made it until tonight (April 7, 2016). Made reservations and were met by John. Courteous, prompt and seated us at a window table. It was just prior to sunset and really beautiful. Trees, mountains, golf course. Hard to believe we're in a Clubhouse! We spent awhile really enjoying the creative menu. So many fun choices. Two of us so decided we'd order all different items and "test" the menu. What a pleasant surprise. Starters consisted of an outstanding "Mongolian Beef", thinly sliced flank steak with pickled onions, fresh English cucumbers slivers and fresh oranges. I'd return just for this item!! My partner had a Caesar salad which was probably the only disappointment of the night. Just an ordinary Caesar...helped because we squeezed fresh lemon on it. Entries were both great. My partner had classic French Coq at Vin which was as good as we've had anywhere in America or France. I had to try the Spaghetti Squash Marinara, which was a vegetarian choice on the menu. Perfectly cooked veggie noddles with a concentrated marinara sauce topped with ribbons of fresh basil, two perfectly cooked whole baby carrots and a trio of small, thin asparagus. Dessert was the perfect finishing touch. Buttermilk donut cake topped with homemade Salted Carmel Gelato. Oh boy. Perfect. We noticed the table next to ours ordered ANOTHER of these after they'd finished the first. The right size, the right sweetness with heavily salted gelato. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced. The entire menu is priced reasonably and has good value. Our service was spot on. Sam, a very pleasant attentive young woman, took care of us. The restaurant is not in the main dining areas in the desert (far off Rodeo Drive, no where near 111 Rancho Mirage dining, and probably 25 minutes from downtown Palm Springs varied fare.) But it's EASY to find. It's definitely on our "return" list. Overall, I'd give it a 4.5 star rating, the only deduction would be a fairly pedestrian Caesar Salad. Everything was up to 5 Star dining but the price....half of what we're used to at home in Maui. Go to this place while you're here. You will NOT be sorry. read more

We went to the Bellatrix happy hour this evening. Before we went I looked up their happy hour menu and many of their prices online were lower then what we saw at the bar. They listed online that they use Bombay gin for their bar gin but they used a cheaper gin. The bar was very nice and the bartender was great . It's not on our top five places to go so we might not be back. They need to re due their online happy hour menu to match menu at bar. read more

December 18, 2015 It was my husbands special birthday and I had let them know that with reservations well a week in advance. When we arrived we were loudly asked " who's birthday is it ? " We were seated....... Service was very abrupt/curt. We ordered two belvedere on the rocks.....only to be Advised 5 min later that they don't have it. Ok...went with grey goose.....yuk..... Put in appetizer order soup and salad.......... Was ok. Ordered Grouper .......Small portion Ordered filet mignon......so-so under cooked but no waitress EVER to ask Au gratin potatoes that were OLD My opinion Service is AWFUL........... I came to Palm Springs for the 4th of July weekend and when looking for a restaurant near by, found this one. The service was amazing, the server was vey nice and professional. The manager visited our table two times to recommend a bottle of wine which was an awesome recommendation. The server also offered a couple of options which helped me make my final decision. I ordered the only chicken in the menu and it was good, I added extra jalapeños to the dish and it gave it an extra spicy flavor which made it even better flavor wise. My dad, mom, brother and sister ordered steak and they all said it was just the right size and it had good flavor in general. This restaurant has a very nice view of the mountains and the golf course, and even though the river was on construction, I know it's going to end up having an even better view. The people that go there are all 60+ so if you are looking for a place to go with your boyfriend or friends, I do recommend you look for another one with a different environment or ambience. read more

I had always wondered about this building that you could see from the highway. As we drove up, my friend said that she had thought it was a hotel, and I mused that it was a hospital. Once inside, the place is quite grand and the views are beautiful. The hostess seated us inside, but we were at least 10+ feet from other tables and the place was strictly enforcing social distance rules. Our wait-person was very prompt and she complimented our choice of a seafood louie. Our salads arrived quickly, but they were immediately disappointing. The salads were the size of a "dinner salad" with very small portions of shrimp and barely recognizable crab meat, there was half an egg on older iceberg lettuce - no lemons, and lacking presentation. In other words the salads looked like what you might buy at an airport in the pre-made refrigerator. The woman who was serving us checked in, and she was so upbeat, we didn't have the heart to burst her bubble.. it's already hard enough during these times of uncertainty. The view was breathtaking but dinner wasn't so great. We ordered several apps: shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, and calamari. All were disappointing. The shrimp was small and limpy looking, the crab cakes fell apart as soon as you forked it and the calamari was all breading. Dinner was also disappointing. I ordered the "halibut" and frankly, it wasn't halibut, more like a local sole of some sort. The steak was dry and bland. The only best part were their desserts, but who can mess up vanilla bean ice cream with Mac cookies and the mini doughnuts. OMG....gold mine! The wife and I had a awesome little weekend trip to Palm springs and with a little random wheel of Fortune spin decided to stop in for lunch on our way back home. This was the best part of the weekend. We sat on the patio above the backdrop of a claiming waterfall ... Such wonderful ambience!!! What an amazing menu and super friendly staff. Got a deal on Groupon so decided to try this place out. Very pleasantly surprised by the food...everything was very good from their bread, salad, entree BUT the dessert stole the show!! We had 2...one was called "Half Baked" which was a 1/2 baked wht chocolate macadamia nut cookie, with vanilla Haagen Dazs ice cream...it was seriously one of the best desserts we've ever had!!! We went here for lunch, we have always seen it driving by and said lets stop and check it out. My husband has played the course but he has never stayed to have something to eat. I can say from the moment we walked in it was indifferent. Hostess to the bartender with no greeting or hello even to the customers, nobody seemed very happy.We felt like we were walking in on a private party.. We ended up eating on the patio and it w as full we were able to sit to the side and were pretty much ignored for some time, we then moved ourselves in the crowd of tables and finally got a server to say hello. ( or maybe it was the bus boy) Either our server was slow or the kitchen was slow, but my bowl of chili took forever. Our server finally spoke with us at the end when she delivered the check to my husband all bright eyed and with a smile Little does she know is that I always fill out the bill and tip. Being a long time waitress myself, and working in the food industry I can pick up the vibes of the place really quick, and I can say there were no good vibes here. Just had dinner tonight and it was great! Our waitress was Gina and she gave us top notch service all around and recommended the best dinner dishes and dessert. We ordered the steak, lobster mac and cheese, donut dessert and warm cookie ice cream. The steak was a little salty, but overall everything else was delicious. Would definitely recommended coming here! The best part about coming here was not being judged because we look young. Gina gave us a pleasant experience and we enjoyed the whole dinner.
