The waitress rolled her eyes because I asked for a cup of water. She was rude from the second we walked in. Our table of 5 all left this place with stomach aches and all 5 of us had to use the bathroom within 15 minutes of leaving. I am convinced the waitress put laxatives in our drinks. read more

Better than your average gas station. They have a small restaurant with good food. Not top of the line, but freshly made and good. It's a small town store. Every time I come in, there's a local or two, hanging out, drinking coffee, chatting. Really nice atmosphere. Most of the people who work there are full of small-town friendliness. A couple with small-town suspicion, but mostly the friendliness. Their pie looks really good, but I haven't tried it. Yes, it's a little pricey, but you're at a small-town gas station. That's what happens when you forgot to stop in Cumberland or Hagerstown, depending on the direction you are going. It's also the closest place to Green Ridge State Forest. And you'll find all the food you'll need for a night or two of camping. It's a good place to stop. read more

Low key awesome. I've never had anything but breakfast here, so that's the focus of this review. This cozy diner is inside the Exxon gas station just off the Little Orleans exit on I-68 in Western Maryland. They serve traditional breakfast favorites home cooked to perfection. There are 3-4 booths, and a table for larger parties. My favorite place to sit is at the counter because I like watching the cook, Liz, make the meals--she's super efficient (and she makes heart-shaped pancakes for Valentine's Day). It's also fun to listen to the conversation between the locals and watch them banter with Liz and the server, Melissa. There's a sense of community here that rubs off on you. If you have to wait for a table (likely during hunting season) you can browse their groceries, deli, homemade pies, or check out their selection of Four Quarters wines (winery is local to the area). This place is best for down to earth types, so if you're looking for fast food in a packed house, go to Cracker Barrel. And if you don't want to watch your server multitask by washing dishes after serving you the best sweet tea in the tristate area, then go an exit further. PS. We found this little diner in a gas station store completely by accident. Clearly a local place and also visited by hunters and fishermen. Bathrooms are clean. Husband had the steak and cheese sub and I opted for the same as a sandwich. Lots of meat...tasty. People very nice...a sit down at a counter or a few tables. This is NOT fast food...it's busy and you need patience, which we had. Reasonable enough prices for food and gasoline. We're glad we found this place...it's nice buying local. read more

I find it absolutely disgusting that as we sat and watched ours and many other peoples food being made I saw the cook (female) wipe her bare hands on her pants or shirt AFTER touching something everytime she touched something. In the almost hour I was there, she did not use gloves, wash her hands one time, just used her pants. Then move on to the next thing like it's natural. read more

I really liked this place. The diner part of the grocery is so cute. They've got seating at tables and booths then you have counter top seating like old time sake with amazingly cheap prices. I was super happy when I chanced it getting off the interstate to fuel up not knowing this was going to be here along with the Exxon. If you get the chance -- stop it and take a break from driving. It's 2 hours from DC sans the prices. Also, you might feel like you're in East Deliverance, NY with how rural it is, but you really aren't. The people are nice. read more

Stopped in on a cross country road trip to get fuel and use the bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised to find a little diner inside. The ladies working there were so sweet. We got burgers, blts and fries. My picky 7 year old said his burger was even better than Burger King which is the highest compliment. We will definitely stop in again on our next trip. read more

We come here at hunting season, and again during the motorcycle rally , we just love this stop on our trip.... hell sometimes it is the trip . Not sure why the awesome reviews because we have had a very different experience. There is only one bathroom for men and one for women, and no showers. We asked if they could fill our 100 ounce cups with ice they said no problem but once we went to pay for our dinner they had put $2.00 for the ice, that was $1.00 for each of our cups. We ordered Hamburger steaks cost was $8.50 and it came with two sides. The hamburger steak was just a big hamburger Patty, no gravy and no onions or other things to enhance the patty. The baked potatoe came to us hard and microwaved, they took it back and nuked it some more to make it soft, with a little bit but and a little sour cream. The service was minimal but pleasant. If you need to have a place to sleep or stop for the night then it's great, if your looking for a truck stop experience this is not the place. read more

This is a great little place for breakfast or lunch. The prices are very reasonable and the food absolutely delicious. They have a number of desserts and they sell a limited selection of beers. This is "Old Americana" in the hills of Maryland. Don't pass this by! They had leftover bike rally tshirts from last year for only $10. Very thick, good quality long sleeve for ten bucks is a deal! We stopped here for a restroom break on our way to Delaware. My wife discovered that the diner had homemade pies. The staff was friendly and my wife bought a slice of coconut cream and French Apple. The were delicious. The pie was so good that we stopped again on our way back home. Two more slices of coconut cream,l for the cooler. Plus another French Apple and a slice of cherry which we ate for lunch at the soft serve ice cream truck parked in the lot by the station. The pie with ice cream was wonderful. The diner was busy with locals so the food must be good. Glad we found this diamond in the wilds. read more

Had to stop for gas and bathroom break on the way back from Ohio, saw the Exxon sign from the interstate, and ended up here. This is the ONLY store/gas station for miles, so it gets pretty busy. They have a garage next door for auto repairs, but it appeared to be closed when I was there. They have a decent number of gas pumps, so no waiting in line for gas, but the store itself was pretty busy. They have a decent selection of foods including a deli counter, and sell beer and wine (every day but Sunday) should you be so inclined. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are 1-person restrooms......so there IS a line for the bathroom. And if you've been on a long road trip and this is the only stop for miles, waiting in line can get pretty uncomfortable. But otherwise, a nice little stop. read more

I have a picky daughter but she loves their grilled cheese. At least 3 times we go. Heading to Cumberland just look 30 mins before you hit Cumberland and it's the exit that has the salt dome. Just stopped for gas on my way back from Cumberland. Went in for few snacks.. As the reviews said I agree it was very cute. There was a family eating dinner at one of the booths. The girl at the register was very sweet. Just total hometown feeling. I don't get that much from the area I live in. Convenient off of Rt 68. Appeared clean and lots of parking. Music and easy to read screens at pumps. Lots of pumps but no receipt at pump, no water in windshield reservoir and the water that was in there was foul. Needs another bathroom. The previous post only halfway met it's mark. Evidently the need for relief overshadowed seeing that this is also a full service home style diner and that was probably why it was crowded. Getting a seat may require some waiting but the food is well worth it. If it's breakfast try the sausage gravy(made from locally produced whole hog sausage) and fresh made biscuits with a couple of eggs any way you want. Lunch is the old stand by cheeseburgers and fries. Dinner is definitely a fork cuttable hot roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes all smothered with home made pan drippings gravy. Top off any of the above meals with a piece of genuine, made that morning, homemade pie which, if you are lucky, you may be able to take a whole one home with you. I came there twice and the first time I was there I ordered a steak, medium. They gave it to me well done and I couldn't even cut it. I didn't say anything and let it go. Then I came back a second time with my fiancé and I had ordered the steak again and told the waiter about my past experience and to make sure it's not over cooked. I got my steak overdone again and my fiancé said it looked disgusting and told me to say something, so I did. Both him and I heard the cook make nasty comments and made a huge deal about making another. And when I was eating it, she came over and stared at me and my plate like I had offended her. I apologize to the waiter if I had offended her and he said it was no problem. So when I went to check out, I told the cashier my experience. She said she couldn't do anything about it because the owner was there. So I gave her my name and number. Then PLOT TWIST: My fiancé called and asked to speak to the owner/manager, and the cashier Sarah said that there wasn't any owner or manager in today.
