Came through one night with my coworkers to get our nails done. First off, Belle Nail Spa is near my work. My coworker was able to make an appointment for 4 people for a gel mani a week prior and since it's close to work, we were able to swing by after finishing our shifts. Come in, was greeted by front desk although she was on the phone so we ended up just starting to choose our colors. Service is very friendly. We were greeted by another worker after choosing our colors and they immediately got us into the chairs and helped lower them so we could relax. I didn't get the same of the one who did my nails, but she was focused and able to clean my nails thoroughly prior to getting the gel on. $30 for a mani plus $5 for tip and I was out the door. I called last minute and and they were able to fit me in. It was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was so relaxing. The way that the technician did my pedicure was different than other salons I've been to. For she's soaked my feet but as soon as that part was over, she removed it and reclined the chair to where I almost fell asleep. The leg massage was perfect and not rushed at all. I was in the area so I Yelped which nail salons had affordable pedicures and decided to try Belle Spa. I have not been disappointed. Lulu was my technician and I pointed out for her to make sure she digs around both my big toes as many paces don't clean it out and then my big toes get sore and I end up having to do it on my own but what's the point of a pedicure. So Lulu did make sure she cleansed them out. The pedicure was great and it included a nice long massage and the cost was 30.00. The part I liked the best is you soak your feet for a short period and after that the rest of the pedicure is done while you are reclined back. These women are so sweet and thorough! I went in a little after 6:30 pm as soon as I got off Caltrain (the salon is right next to Redwood City Sequoia Station). The place closed at 7 pm. I asked for a gel French manicure and they took about an hour end to end and didn't rush me at all! Just had a great experience at Belle Nail Spa. Julie did my gel mani and Sally did my pedicure. The pedicure was $30 and I was expecting the basic service. But "WOW" I did not expect the massage x3 - first a cool scrub, lotion/oil and then warm stones. The foot massage I received was so relaxing and I was in heaven. The chairs are awesome as you are reclining like in 1st class. And the salon itself was tranquil, quiet and calm, not like some salons where it's sterile and uninviting. Love love love. Julie did a great job, and she took her time and shaped my nails exactly the way I wanted them, except I didn't have to tell her. I was there for an hour and ten min, which it was longer but I was in and out there in perfect time. I had the best "me" time and will definitely be back. I really hate to give negative reviews to smaller companies, but I fee like other people should know so they don't have to experience what I did. I went to Belle Spa twice. The first time, I had a terrible experience, but decided to give it one more chance before reviewing it. The good: the price is very reasonable and low for the area. The he'll nail polish seems to last a lot longer and they have a great selection of colors. First of all, they don't have foot spas, only a bowl on wheels. Their chairs are massage chairs, but the massage rollers dig into your back and are very uncomfortable. The lady who did my toes the first time and the second time, was the same lady. The first time she cut my cuticles entirely too short and I had to yelp a little in pain to get her to stop. She doesn't speak English so I couldn't communicate anything to her. The second time, she cut right above my toenail with a nail file she used aggressively to get the gel off my toes. It hurts to wear socks or shoes for a week. They sand down your nails a lot to use the gel polish. When I got the gel off my nails, my nails were destroyed and they still haven't recovered. They don't have acrylic or any type of fade tip if that's what you're looking for. They weren't friendly. If all of this happened and they were friendly and made me smile and made me feel like they appreciate my business and apologized for cutting me, it would have made a world of difference. If one person would simply ask how my day is; even if they don't care, fake it like the rest of the world. I felt out of place and like they didn't want me there. I'll never go back and unfortunately, the injuries and their lack of concern for how I was treated and not showing any appreciation for my business will lead me to advising all my friends to steer clear of this salon. read more

I am still searching around for the perfect nail spa. This is definitly NOT it. I had to wait 30 minutes, despite having made an appointment. Call me old-fashioned, but I like to think that an APPOINTMENT entitles me to service at a given, pre-arranged time. Some business don't share my view. Now, I don't mind a 5-minute wait. I start to get annoyed at 10 minutes. Any longer than 20 minutes and I start to feel enraged. My friend and I had 5:00 appointments. This was important because we were meeting a friend for a 6:00 dinner reservation right down the street. That's a reasonable timeline, right? Though, how good your experience is highly dependent on how busy they are. There was once I had to wait 15 minutes past my appointment time for a few person. Today when I went, there wasn't a single customer, so my lady really took her time. I would say that the pedicure experience is better than the manicure experience. I really like the hot stone massage. My lady really took her time and I felt really pampered. The manicure experience is not bad, but it's nothing spectacular compared to other salons. I'm a La Jollie (palo alto) customer but I live in Redwood City. I've been looking for a local salon that is comparable with La Jollie on the relaxing ambiance and I finally found it, thanks to you fellow yelpers! A basic mani/pedi with only 5 minutes of massage has gone up to $55 at La Jollie! I got a really nice mani/pedi with 15 minutes of warm lotion/hot stone massage for $40, plus I didn't have to drive all the way to PA! I will definitely be a regular at this salon. Another thing that I liked was everyone I spoke with understood english and could communicate well with clients. Some times it's very frustrating when you are trying to explain what you want to your service provider and they can not understand what you are asking for. Price aside, the end result is really nice as well. My nails look great! OPI and Essie polishes. I never had to monitor them, all nails are filed even, even polish, no smudges on my skin, no bleeding cuticles, just perfect! I appreciate the relaxing acoustic guitar music while enjoying a cup of hot tea...The massage chairs are in a good shape and being a germophobe I'm happy there's no jacuzzi and less chance of catching any fungus. Very easy to schedule and polite/professional staff. The only con is the parking in downtown, I went in on a Saturday and 1:00 pm and had to circle around for 25 minutes before finding parking. read more

I've never in my life had as low-quality shellac manicure as at this place. Please look at the attached photo to see that the color is definitely not the light purple that I chose. The young lady who gave me the manicure (she was the only one speaking English, and generally behaved as if she was the manager there which she probably was) insisted the color would come out as I wanted after two layers of coat - nope, lady, it never became purple, it was light pink throughout it's short existence until it started turning white!!! Oh and my pedicure is absolutely the worst I ever had!!! I do better job at home doing it myself I swear! I have to say that two other helper ladies who didn't speak English at all were very sweet and gave my feet nice hot stone massage and prepared my nails for the manicure but I went there to get nice mani-pedi, not a massage, right? Another problem with this place is that when I called before going there and asked how much it was, I was told it was $45. So at the checkout I was prepared to give that plus some tip (if only for those two sweet ladies) but this young woman tells me it's $65. Fine, I pay it, and I'm about to leave when she says quite rudely to fill out "Whole amount" portion of the bill. She obviously wanted me to give a tip. I'm not the one to stage a fight so I have her $5 tip and left feeling that I just threw away $70 in a bad quality mani-pedi. Alas, my feeling was so right! The 3 of us were the only customers after making a last minute appointment around 1 PM on a Friday. Everything is done in a reclined chair including manicures. These ladies listened to what we wanted and kept us updated on their steps. I was VERY happy with my pedicure. The lady who did it was incredibly nice and cheerful and thorough with everything. Of course you can't have a pedicure without a proper massage, and she exceeded my expectations. The hot stones were my favorite part :) I liked that she didn't rush anything and paid attention to detail. There was even another staff member who would come by and check on the work to make sure everything was done perfectly and if anything was missed. My friends got gel manicures, and they said they were very pleased with the experience and nail outcome. Very reasonably priced. The salon is very clean, spacious, and well decorated. This place is ok - had higher expectation coming here after reading other reviews. It took almost 2 hours for my gel manicure and regular pedicure. The lady taking off my gel manicure from previous was filing so hard my nails are really thin now. The whole thing just took forever. Also , they put me in a massage chair that didn't work. Pedicure part was really good- except at the end I had asked for Saran Wrap to decrease chances of smudging, and they had no idea what I was talking about ! (I can't be the only one that has ever asked for this .. all other places I've been to offer it ..) A few other little things bothered me , like the color didn't really match what I had picked out for gel and she didn't even show me first to make sure I liked it and it's what I expected. And in the back it seemed like there were 2 guys yelling at each other the whole two hours ( not sure if it was a tv or not) but it was interrupting the zen music they were trying to play. Updated review: I had a pedicure today. I DESPERATELY needed one and to relax. When I look for a pedicure place, I look for a place that's sanitary and relaxing. Ambiance is everything with a pedicure. At Belle's nails, you are reclined back, the women do not chatter back and forth, and there's relaxing spa music. Belle's nails DO NOT use the unsanitary pedicure bowels with the whirlpool. They use a more sanitary way. I HIGHLY recommend getting the 10 minute extra massage for $15. Tina made my experience absolutely incredible. I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep! Thanks again for another amazing experience! Tina is great at massage. She definitely took the extra care and asked me my preference on nail length and whether I want it clipped or filed. I love Belle Nail Spa. I usually get a gel manicure and regular pedicure when I'm here. I call ahead to make an appointment and they always remember my name and the last time I visited the salon. I definitely feel so welcomed here. I also brought my boyfriend for his first mani pedi ever! He absolutely loved it and said his hands never looked so good. Every lady working here is an absolute delight and really do an incredible job. I never feel rushed and they are very efficient getting me in and out the door in an hour. I've been here twice now. I have friends who absolutely love it. Me, not so much. It isn't a great pedicure. Last time I don't even think they bothered to take off the rough skin on the underside of my feet. I was super excited for my pedicure. However, when she started I was highly disappointed. She was extremely rough and I was no longer able to relax. She even made me bleed twice and tore my cuticles.
