I had to call the township park office to learn this in advance, but for this portion of the park, dogs ARE allowed. There is a dog waste station as I show in my photos. Dogs are NOT allowed at the Zoo and its attached park, but they may visit this separated portion. On a weekday in summer, not a soul was there. Tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, no one at all! So if you want to practice or play any of these sports, you're likely to have the park all to yourself.

This park was recently redone and boy has it been a beautiful renovation. Many people just sit and stare out over beautiful sunset lake on the 40 or more benches from one end of the park to the other. Kids frolic. Seniors meet w friends. Surrounding and adorning the park are many memorials that you should take the time to view. Monuments to veterans and in a little tiny Grassy area on New Jersey Ave. you'll see a tiny memorial to a local resident who was lost on the 9/11 tragedy at WTC. Over the years this has become a photo op for people who are leaving Wildwood crest after their summer vacations. Memories are made here

Yes, highly recommended of chaperone experience for the little ones, hey, enjoying the park for them, eh, okay it is enjoyable for adults, okay, fine! You got me, lol. The interaction of genuine heart of children sometimes results in adults caring to share the basic human need of thankful communication. One "face to face" treasure of social experience. Justly peaceful, and it is patrolled not only by parents, there are venues of the township, like the library, and the police are not long, had that been necessary. Never had I've seen the police needed to be notified to go there. Thank you Egg Harbor Twp, I used to live there. Good today of days. Of course, Creator given rights & dignity only God provides, ie, the three charters of freedom, The Declaration of Independence, The Preamble and The Ten Bill of Right, in the years of our Lord, 1776-1991. There are so many things for…read morethe kids and young adults, which totally justifies the big taxes the residents of the town pay. I get to visit this very fine town more than a few times a year since my brother and his family moved here in mid 2000s. And this park is definitely a highlight for his kids to be out and about and do things that is so quintessential summer! Here are some of the key highlights: - Big kid's playground, fully mulched, with all the swings and the castle of slides. The grounds clearly are well taken care of and everything looks so pretty - There are big soccer fields right behind the kids' playground. I almost mistook it for a mini golf course; the field was so green and well maintained and I believe there are more than 3 of them; and one is even lighted for night matches. - There is an amphitheater bang in the middle of the 35 acres expanse where they have bands come in and play during the summer and there are scheduled movie screenings as well. - 4 Tennis courts. So neat and clean. i was really impressed to see the quality of the nets and the hard court coats. Finally, the access roads - in and out of the park, connecting the main streets are so well maintained, with enough parking for families to come in and enjoy great times. Keep up the good work!! - Amazingly well kept baseball / softball field.

Nice and free historic site of a childhood home for one of the nation's founding fathers. It's off…read morethe beaten path, but it's a big property. The visitor center has a small exhibit and an introductory film which is nice but the guide prefaces by saying it "focuses too much on John Dickinson" (?) The exhibit focuses more on the family and the enslaved/servants who lived there, which really rounded out the property, but we did come here because we wanted to learn more about John Dickinson. No gift shop, which was disappointing. The tour itself was very informative, and there was a big crowd visiting when I did. Again, the tour seemed to want to downplay Dickinson and his role in the American Revolution. Likely because he thought the colonies weren't prepared to go to war, he abstained from voting for independence, he is less remembered than other Founding Fathers, but I came to learn about him, and the guide wasn't all that interested in talking about him and what he did accomplish. Still, the furnishings were nice, and we got to learn about Dickinson's father, his wife and family, and his brother who all lived there with a focus on the lesser-known residents. I think that could have all been balanced better. The view of the river is lovely, and there are some out buildings and a garden to stroll through. It's a nice outdoor site, and for free, it's still a good site to visit to see history being preserved.

The…read morehouse was interesting to see, and there were a few pieces of furniture that I loved- such as the rope beds, the chair that was oversized, the large loom, and the travel clock that one of the Dickinsons took with him when he traveled. The guide was nice and interesting. That is saying a lot, because I can get bored very easily. She spent an adequate amount of time in each room. Before we took the tour, we had to see a movie, that was about 15 minutes long, mostly about history. We were the only people there, and I got up during the movie and looked at the other exhibits in the room. I would say travel here if you like history or old houses/furniture.

This beach is decidedly sleepier than Ocean City, Sea Isle, and many non-LBI beaches, and most of its charm is from its inherent "coziness." The lifeguards were very kind and vigilant, making sure that the no-swimming zones were properly demarcated and that we could enjoy the offings of the beach. Free street parking and some mini golf and ice cream nearby. What more can I say? :)

Wow - it's not often that you can find totally free kayaking these days! We walked up, filled out a…read morewaiver, got our life jackets, and we were on the water within 5 minutes! We paddled out into the lily pad area that had a clear spot to go through. We saw lots of turtles and a few beaver dams (didn't spot the beavers though). There were sooo many pretty blue dragonflies that liked to land on our boat and sometimes us! We also saw some floating snail shells in the water. Our paddle took about an hour, and they allow you to borrow the kayaks up to 2 hours. After our paddle we checked out the playground for a bit. It was perfect for our 4 year old. It has 4 big kid swings and 2 baby swings and areas for the both the bigger kids and little ones.

The playground, piccadilly castle, is a large wooden playground that could use some updating. They have a smaller area reserved for only smaller children, which is nice when it's crowded with older kids and they have no regard for your toddler. The swings could use an update and the slides could use a deep clean, but everything was pretty solid. The castle has bricks around it with names of those who contributed toward or helped build it. It's neat to see some familiar names! I recommend this park and playground for those who have kids needing to get rid of energy or those who need to walk and clear their head.

When I saw that Brecknock Park had a wooden playground, I figured I had to check it out. The park is absolutely beautiful. There's lots of open space for throwing around a frisbee, jogging, picnicking, playing soccer - you name it! There's a small garden area to walk through that has the plants and trees labeled (always nice to get in a little outdoor education). The wooden playground was everything I'd hoped for - very well-maintained, lots of different jungle gym options, and I got in my obligatory swing set time on a nice, sturdy swing set. Whether you live in the area or are just passing through, I'd definitely recommend spending some time at this park. Wish I could have enjoyed it longer! I'll absolutely plan on stopping by again next time I'm visiting that area.

I love National Parks…read more Not just because I'm patriotic with an environmentalist sensibility -- but because they are time warps of sorts -- a glimpse back at the way things once were and (hopefully) will be for our descendants -- long downstream. The Cape May National Wildlife Refuge is a pleasant respite from the commercialism of Jersey Shore holidays -- its' boardwalk attractions, fast food and fast living. It is well marked and you can bring your binocs along to spot wildlife and unique plants and flora found nowhere else. Better still -- bike in and hop scotch around between dunes and other natural formations -- but avoid crossing into the restricted areas that are clearly marked by Area 51 type warning signs -- lest you want automatic weapon toting humans rousting you. We walked the trails in sand, alongside more poison ivy in one 2 square mile stretch than I have probably seen in my entire life. Bring bug spray, a fishing pole to cast off the jetty -- and maybe even long pants and an epipen if you are especially sensitive to insect stings and poisonous plants. Free bird watching walks are regularly available and -- thankfully -- it is a relatively unpopulated attraction so it is soulful in its solitude.

There are 3 ways to get to…read morethis beautiful refuge: first is off Ocean Ave/pacific ave, second turn Down Madison to the end and it is on the right, or access from the beach -only Oct-March. Access from the beach is closed off by ropes and volunteers monitor those trying to walk the refuge from April thru September 31st. Protected area for migrating and nesting birds. There is a great trails to see the wildlife refuge. It runs parallel to the beach. Guided tours are available. We saw some great birds this summer landing on the beach! My first spotting of an American Oyster Cracker. I only wish I was able to get a picture, happened so fast. Don't forget your binoculars! The butterfly migration in October is really something to see, nature at its best. We have spotted white skunks, and have seen one coyote.
