This has been under new ownership for a minute. They seem to have kept what was best about this Belleville institution and added even more to it. They seem to be hiring right as well, which is nice. Most exciting is the recent add-on of Dole whip, if you have been to Walt Disney World you know what I'm talking about. Dairy free, gluten free, vegan and kosher to boot it somehow manages to be a creamy fruit burst of deliciousness. Right now the have my fave pineapple and the Uber tasty strawberry. Yes I got some of each. Perfect and refreshing on a warm June day. Another fantastic addition are the homemade cookies, perfect for one of the best treats ever, a cookie ice cream sandwich. The cookies are nicely sized and the perfect consistency, firm enough to hold the ice cream without falling apart yet soft enough to enjoy biting into the creation. I highly recommend. They also have hand dipped ice creams in addition to soft serve in flavors like Tennessee toffee. No worries they still have great banana cups, soft serve, shakes, flurries and slushes. Had a cotton candy flurry here earlier this summer and loved it - ordered again and got something that looked the same but instead of cotton candy pieces, got sprinkles. The flurry tasted zero percent like cotton candy. When I asked if they gave me the right thing, I was told yes and that they just don't get the cotton candy pieces anymore. In there bubble gum display they have a dead bug. I remember telling them that last year right before closing. And I went in a few days ago and the lady bug is still in the slide where the bubble gum comes down. Gross. When I first went to Frosty Boy I was pleasantly surprised by the ice cream as well as the friendliness of the staff. However, today I had an encounter that made me question how well this business can handle when something doesn't go smoothly. I ordered two flurries: 1. Medium banana pudding flurry, strawberry swirl ice cream 2. Large choco cherry flurry with extra cherries and added Reeses cups, and swirled ice cream I threw all my change in my purse in the tip jar (a good $1.50 or so) after paying. I receive both and they are the same size, a medium. When I asked the older white woman if the sizes were correct, she said "Yes. You both got larges and charged for mediums!" (after giving us the look of "Uh...oops...") I am not stupid....three size cups mean small, medium, and large... However, I let it slide. When we got into the car, we realized the 'large' flurry was missing extra cherries which the 'medium' one seemed to gain, and was also missing Reeses Cups. I went back in because I would like what I paid for. I asked another young lady if the cup I was holding was a large and she said "That is a medium". I told her I was missing the two items and the large size. The owner comes over and asks me where the other flurry was (in the car), and if that one was the large. I felt like he was accusing me of trying to get a large flurry...and I even asked if he wanted to me to get the other one out of the car. He also asked how long ago as if I had eaten half the ice cream, which I obviously had not. The cashier that helped me looked at the owner and said "Oh no. Did I make a mistake?" when she very well knew she sent me out with two mediums. The owner then charges me $1.33 for extra cherries and Reeses that I should have originally already paid for. I made sure I reiterated the order exactly and the young lady repeated it back multiple times. The second flurry comes out without the swirl. The owner tells me he won't make it again because I didn't tell him I wanted the swirl. I told him I made sure we were on the same page and the young lady confirmed it as well. He takes it back and gives a "Oh my god." Finally I get the last flurry. I wasn't going to go back again if it was made wrong. $9.22 originally $1.50 (at least) in tips $1.33 (which the extra cherries never made it to the flurry in the end) Total $12.05 for two flurries. One remade 3 times. This customer service is ridiculous. Why is it the customer's fault when the employees are not on the same page and one blatantly lies to customers? I wasn't asking for an arm and a leg...just to get what I ordered and paid for. This order rarely changes for the choco cherry, so why is the price now hiked up when we have an issue? Highly disappointed and may take back the good words I have told others about this place. If you want something simple, go ahead. But God forbid you ever find a mistake in your order. May as well take your time, and money elsewhere. read more

I'm so excited the Frosty Boy has reopened early this year. It's always a good time for ice cream. The owner may grumble as he cooks you a delicious cheeseburger, but that's just because he'd rather be out front chatting up the customers. I heard of frostyboy for a long time. And heard some good things about this place. But when I ordered my cheeseburger and vanilla cone I only got my cone. The employees didn't have any hair nets or gloves on. We noticed a piece of hair in my smoothie. We went and complained the "manager" came and told us to never come again and snapped a pic of our license plate number. The service and employees were not nice to us. The manager gave us attitude and wasn't showing respect for forstyboy customers. I worked at Frosty Boy for the last three years and let me just say that it's not the clean, friendly local ice cream shop that it's often perceived as. The owner is one of the rudest people you will ever meet. He can pretend to be nice to his customers, but to the workers, he doesn't even try. The majority of the workers are young teenage girls but that doesn't stop him from screaming at them and cussing them out. He also talks bad about them behind their backs to other workers. He insults us daily. He complains that we don't work hard enough yet he usually is in the back sleeping or on Facebook rather than helping. If we do ask for help all we get is a rude reply and complaints. It's also dirty. The owner even smokes in the back of the shop. Even while dealing with the cones, ice cream, and candies. He doesn't even require the workers to have work permits which is completely illegal. I recommend that everyone finds another ice cream shop. There's plenty around with better quality, prices, and owners. I also warn parents that they should never allow their children to work there. read more
