The BBQ pulled pork omelette was very good as was their coffee. Their lemon tart was exceptional but their breads suffer with a lack of any distinctive flavors or textures. I had a croissant and brioche bread served with my meal and the brioche had the texture one would look for, but it was plain, served with no butter or marmalade and the croissant crust wasn't light, flaky or flavorful. One would expect a hint of butter and flakiness but instead it had a sheen as if covered with egg wash and that knocked down any flakiness that should have been present. Their service was off the mark. The place was moderately busy with no line and several tables opened. I placed my order and three other tables were seated after I arrived and placed my order. Every single one of those tables received their main course before I did, in fact I had to remind them that I had ordered an omelet and then they hurried to make my order which leads me to believe that they would have let me sit there without my food until I said something. Having worked in food service, usually the floor manager AND the cooks drive who gets served first and the cooks probably got my order slip out of order or lost it or made my food and the server gave it to someone else that had ordered the same thing. The table next to me had a toddler and I was more than glad to yield my place to accommodate a child no matter the age and I was glad to see the restaurant place priority on the couple, but the rest were adults and should have been served after me. The omelet was very good as I said and it was filling as one would want and the pureed potato cake was good as well. The best part of my visit was the lemon tart. This piece of pastry was amazing. It had a shortbread crust that had a hint of butter, the lemon filling was flavorful, tart and spiced with just the right amount of lemon peel flavor, but the meringue was so creamy with just the right amount of thick sticky sweetness to offset the tart of the lemon. In my opinion the pie was fantastic. So if asked, would I go back again...Yes I would, if only for the coffee and the pie. Everyone deserves a second chance and they will get one from me. I hope they take this review as an opportunity to learn and grow because this place definitely has potential for the long term so long as they fix their issues with service. In my view there should be few exceptions to serving people out of order and the main exceptions should be children, elderly or handicapped, other than those reasons everyone should be served on a first come, first served basis. Anything less than that would be considered an insult to most customers. read more
