You must start using anti-aging cream now!"...I was 14.. - "You must use these special towels to wash your face with"...they don't... Once you get past the front desk though, their service does keep you coming back. This has got to be the best facial I have ever gotten, ever. Granted, a trip to Bellevoir is not exactly the ritziest experience - it's in a strip mall that's seen better days, and the facility itself is not all that nice. However, the technicians here are all super-detail oriented and the facials are extremely effective. I bought the package with all the bells and whistles - the facial, the AHA honey derived acid mask, and the sonic treatment - every treatment takes over 2 hours, and includes the following: 1) a double-wash, 2) a highly detailed and excruciating extraction process, 3) AHA honey acid mask - also excruciatingly painful, 4) ice treatment, 5) back, neck and arm massage, 5) sonic massage treatment, 6) sulfur based mask, 7) final cleanse and acne treatment. The first part of the treatment is super-super painful- almost to the point where you just want to jump up and run out the door - but if you can stick through the pain, the second part is just bliss. I usually end up falling asleep and waking up and the end feeling fully refreshed. A few words of warning - the facials are fairly expensive, especially if you opt for all the bells and whistles - but it is worth it. Their products are fairly expensive as well, but it's hard to say no especially since they are pretty good at making you feel paranoid that you will end up all scarred and/or pimply if you don't buy and use them religiously. Finally, you will look scary for a day or so after your treatment, but once you heal, you will love how nice your skin is. They cured my acne skin when I was in my teenage until now I go there for regular deep clean and prevent wrinkles maintenance. Summary: I've been coming here for 10+ years and highly recommend it to anyone who suffers from break outs and/or adult acne. Bellevior has a very clean, no-nonsense facility in an Asian strip mall (great for post-facial boba tea). Though services and products are pricey, I've been satisfied with the results. However, I've had negative experiences with very pushy salespeople, but they've toned it down significantly. Details: Bellevior (or "About Face" which is on the signage and business cards) is not a spa with orchids, aromatherapy and plush furnishings. This place is all about cleaning out your face. There is no list of services - they do one thing (facials) and they do it well. The facilities are very clean but somewhat sterile looking (everything is white), but who cares when you have your eyes under a mask or tissue anyway? The staff there are technicians who meticulously find the tiniest impurities in your face and get it out, and it can be quite painful at times. Technicians also give wonderful neck/shoulder/arm massages while your skin is soaking up all the great product. Beware of the honey serum treatment though, it burns! They'll give warning to brace yourself before they put it on you, plus they'll fan your face and give you encouraging remarks to stick it out. The payoff is nice, clear skin for a few months before pollution, stress, fried foods, etc. reinvade your pores again and you have to go back. Sorry everyone, there is no one-shot solution to clear skin, more like on-going maintenance. I also paid $580 (tax included) for 10 facials (not including the add-ons like special moisturizing mask treatments) and it's good for 2 years. The high pressure sales tactics to get you to buy the Bellevior products were a major turn off. They are way better about this now. However, I have to admit their face products are amazing. Every time I skimped and thought I found a cheaper alternative at the mall or drug store, my skin problems resurfaced and I found myself back to using their products. If I ever got annoyed at anyone there it was always at other clients. Staff there really need to enforce people to take their cell phone conversations outside and turn off their ringers during facials. Tips: * Bellevior offers 10% off products during Christmas and Mother's Day, so stock up then * Don't bother trying to find their products cheaper on the Internet. Then it's getting ridiculous when I tried to make an appt during weekend I had to do it 2 months in advanced. Then they still think they don't make enough money so they changed their policy and forcing everyone to buy products in order to make appt. (Which means you can't get your facial done if you don't buy stuff from them.. Is that even legal?) I've been coming here since high school and I highly recommend coming here to get rid of any acne, scarring, and general facials. The important thing to realize is that it takes more than one session to see long-lasting results, so it comes at no surprise that one session won't make all the pimples go away. What I highly recommend are the products. I've been using them for the past 8 years and I can honestly say, they really work. My holy grails are: 1) bioactive clearing gel: this is what I put all over my face for breakouts, when I wake up the next day, I can see a big difference. It works better than most spot treatments out there in that it doesn't just dry out active pimples, it works on those pimples that are getting ready to emerge. It doesn't leave my skin dry and skin manages to not only clear my skin but improve the texture. 2) phyto whitening serum: this here is the holy grail; while it is on the pricier side, I have seen a remarkable difference in my skin. It is on par with some of the other high-end serums out there. The consistency is very watery but after consistent use, you will definitely see any acne scars lighten as well as an overall brightening of the face. 3) purifying serum: this is great for everyday use as the first step after toner. I treat it as another spot treatment in that it helps to get rid of pimples and works great on sensitive skin. This is one of those products that are great to incorporate into your routine and after a few weeks, you will definitely see an improvement in your skin. 4) skin renewal serum II: this acts as a day serum that also works well in not only hydrating my skin, but also improving the texture. It's great for combination skin and does not have a scent. 5) clarifying clay cleanser: this has been my morning cleanser for the past 6 years and the thing about this cleanser is how amazing your skin feels after. You are left with this minty sensation due to the clay and it really helps strip off any dirt and oil while not leaving your skin overly dry. In fact, my skin still feels hydrated yet clean after. I would say that even if you are hesitant about going for an entire facial package, definitely try out the products. This is one of the better facial places that I've been to. They're great with acne treatment but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for since this is one of the pricier places. To Summarize: Overall Service: Great, your always greeted as you enter and facial begins within 10min of arriving Ambiance: even though it's not a spa like environment, the facilities are clean and you get a private room. The music they play is also very soothing. Tools: they use disposable needles here, which is key and equiptment is in good condition. they cover the bed with a sheet of disposable wax paper (similar to dr offices) so you know it's clean Extraction Technique: excellent, all the estheticians are certified and they have a process of extraction that minimizes the pain Cost: $120 Treatment Process (you have to get the honey extract addition): Arrive and you are greeted and given a robe to change into. They remove your makeup and cleanse your face thoroughly. Then they bring in the steamer and apply a mild exfoliator to remove dead skin as your pores are opened up. Your prepped for extraction and then the popping begins and goes on for anywhere between 30-60min depending on your skin's condition. They disinfect your face with this tool and apply a layer of honey extract (this burns a little - but makes a difference). The extract helps speed up the recovery and evens out your skin tone so definitely worth the extra $. After about a min, they wipe off the extract and use a "ice ball" to massage your face and calm it before applying the mask. Once the mask is applied, they massage your chest / shoulder, back for a bit and leave you to rest. The only bad thing about this place is the sales in the front try REALLY hard to push you to purchase their line of products. For me, part of getting a facial is the relaxation and here you do get to relax when they are not busy removing blackheads. Otherwise, it was relaxing and the massage was really nice. Its not one of those weak massages but a pretty good and decent massage that you get. With that said, this place isn't cheap. There are many places you can get facial in San Gabriel valley and the price here is on the higher end. However, I realize that you can haggle the price if you buy multiple treatments. I don't know how to feel about that. Like I said, I come here to enjoy and I dislike having to fight for a good price and to second guess myself. Finally, I just don't like being sold to when I'm relaxing and getting my facial. I try to discourage the conversation when I know it will lead to product recommendation. My technician tried. (The place was in a different location at that time.) I had really bad acne in my teen years. They did an awesome job getting rid of it. Extractions hurt like you wouldn't believe! I've been a long-time facial customer dating back to the 90s. What keeps me coming back is the quality of the facials they provide - the results are amazing. Over the last two decades, they've helped me fight off my teenage acne, then later adult acne. I get very bad bouts of acne all over my face once every few years -- I'm not sure why that is because I normally have clear skin. But when that happens, I can always count on Bellevoir to work their magic. How long can you expect to see results? For me, it took about 2 weeks. You'll see results from the get go with the first facial, so if you are skeptical, do one facial and wait and see. Many reviewers said your skin gets worse before it gets better. I totally agree. From my personal experience, I cried so hard when I saw my face after the first facial. I thought I would have scars forever. But the scars faded away in two weeks and my skin begin to shed in a matter of days. I mean from blistering acne, especially the chin area, to smooth skin in 3 facials. I've never gotten a facial that transformed my skin the way Bellevoir does. Now, their sales people are pushy, but stand your ground. I don't recommend getting everything. If I could use only one word to describe this place - PAINFUL!!! The Facials OMG their facial is the most painful experience ever!!! They take a needle and poke and poke all over your face. Not only where you see pimples, even spots where you don't have any, they will poke at it. I've come out from it with visible red holes on my face...eeek. I love going to get facials where they do a lot of extractions to clear things up, but here they really go to extreme overboard with it!! The extraction process feels like it takes an hour...an hour of major pain! They also use this AHA Honey thing on your face, which burns and hurts like crazy too!! This part comes right after the super-long and painful extraction process. OK, enough warning of the pain. Other than that, their facials are very very thorough, it usually takes 2-3 hours from the time I get there until the time I get out. They cleanse and steam, then the painful parts 1 & 2 (extractions + acid), then a GREAT neck/shoulder/back massage (soo good), then a mask is put on and you're left alone in the room for quite a long time (I usually fall aslee), then they clean you up, put on some acne medications, moisturizers, sunblock on your face and you're done! Finally! The Price I purchased a package of 10 facials here and am so glad I've finally used them all, and not going back. I think I paid around $600-700 for 10. Not bad for a 2-3 hour super thorough facials. The Appointments I live in LA and it's a good 30-45 min drive to this place and I hate their appointment process. There's never anything available!!! Have to book like 2 months in advance and can never get times that I want. And if there's nothing on the days you want, they will put you on waiting list. And then call the day before to let you know if they have any times available (usually I already made plans and can't make it or I have to change my schedule to make the times so I don't have to wait another month to go in). Very frustrating process, and so hard to finally used all my 10 facials in the package. The Products They use a lot of selling pressures to buy their products. You CANNOT find their products anywhere else (I've looked everywhere). It says Bellevoir Beverly Hills on everything, but there is no such thing in Beverly Hills. Not really sure where these products originate. But they're pretty good. I only like certain products though. The clay cleanser is the best!! I also like the scrub, the mask, the blue acne liquid thing, and the bio-gel for acne. Other products, I didn't really like or found useful - Phyto whitenting - super expensive and didn't really do much, the AHA serum - super sticky on face and didn't do much. They are expensive too. I think they range from $20s to $90s. The Results After my 10 treatments (took approx. 1 year), I can't say my face is completely clear or if it got worse. They made me sign on a contract stating I had to finish my treatment within a certain time (like a year), or the rest of the contract would be voided. As a working individual, the only time I was available was on Saturdays. It was impossible to an appointment on a Saturday unless you can wait 2 -3 weeks later. So guys, plan ahead or your contract will be voided. * Facial treatment was never quite the same unless you get the same "person" all the time. My average treatment was around 90 mins, but I was kicked out once after 45 mins.....?? Up until now, I still don't know what happened on that treatment. One time they sent me home because they said they messed up the appoinment book and I had to reschedule!! I was about to explode, eager to tell the world how they operate, how lousy they were. I had purchased a package deal of 10 facials to use over the course of one year, and today, I'm going in for my 10th. When I purchased it, I had thought one year was a long time to use 10 facials since I was used to getting facials every 2 weeks. However, I understand now that it takes a year because they get SO BOOKED! I pretty much get about one facial a month at Bellavoire, and for this time in my face's life, that's okay. The estheticians at Bellavoire are very thorough and take pride in their work. They really seem to enjoy cleaning out your face, and they don't leave scars. I've had facials for the past 18 years of my life, from American spas, Chinese facialists, dermatologists...Bellavoire is by far the best. American spas don't even compare. Those are just for the pampering, not for results. Other Chinese places have scarred me, which I'm thoroughly pissed about. Dermatologist facials last at most 30 minutes and focus more on cystic zits...derm facials were not bad, but they're not for me at the moment. Each time I go to Bellavoire, I spend at least two hours there (half an hour is spent laying there with a mask). I call it the Chinese torture facial, but it works. They squeeze every blemish out of your skin and it is pretty darn painful. You look like crap for about 4 days but then your skin completely clears up. The facial takes about 45 min and then they give you a short massage before you lay there with a mask on for another 30 min. Be aware that they try to sell you a ton of items and other services. Back when I was a teen, I used to make monthly visits to have the life of my face squeezed outta me. In order words, I laid in agony as the aesthetician squeezed out every acne, blemish and black pore she could find. I'm pretty sure I've teared several times or she's had to stop to let me breath. Either ways, the process has never been pleasant. But the results? My skin's as soft as a baby's bottom (or at least, I'd like to think so). Out of the 6 facial places i've tried in Monterey Park/San Gabriel area this is THE BEST and least painful facial place by far. Your face will be 80% clearer after just one visit. I recommend getting the honey acid to help close your freshly opened pores so that pimples won't come back. If you still have scars and uneven skin tone you should get the sonic treatment as well. This place does the best extractions! I've always had a slight acne problem in my t-zone so my cousin brought me about a month before her wedding (I was in her wedding party). It hurts like hell when they are squeezing all of those nasty pimples... but I dutifully use their products every day and have been relatively acne free for a couple of years now, but I do go back every 6 weeks or so for maintenance. I have been going on and off to Bellevoir for 15 years. And when I don't go or have ran out of their products my poor face shows it. When I first started going I had pretty bad acne but they made it all go away! Now as I have been getting older (but tastier like a good bottle of wine) they have really helped me combat my fine lines. Their service is impeccable! And yes their facials do hurt but oh my their massages are amazing! I almost always fall asleep on those facial beds. They put a blanket over you and they make it so comfy you don't want to leave. The experience is so different from any other place that I have had a facial. And in my opinion they are not that expensive. Where else can you pay $58 to have a two hour facial/shoulder massage? And their products although comparable in price to some high-end mall cosmetics, are by far way better in quality. People always tell me I look 5 to 7 years younger than my age and for being a lighter-skinned WF who smoked for 10 years and never wore sun-block until I got a lecture from the Bellevoir estheticians, that's a complement I will take!
