I've tried several massage places in the area, and Lulu's Relax Day Spa is by far one of my favorites. The owner (Lulu) is very accommodating, welcoming, and always makes sure customers feel comfortable. Thomas, the receptionist, is also incredibly friendly. He always gives excellent customer service. I've tried massages from most of the therapists but Mary truly stands out. She is highly skilled, attentive, and knows exactly how to target problem areas. As someone who periodically gets massages I like to try new places and today I really needed one but my usual massuese was off work so I turned to Yelp. I quickly found Lulu relax spa and I appreciate Lulu being very communicative when I requested an appointment as it was my first time, however I quickly realized that I should have went with another spot. The massage was very uncomfortable from the get go because I had an older male masseuse that reeked of cigarettes. I do not want to slander the therapist or business but this was a waste of my time and money. On top of that, he kept coughing and burping throughout my time there. I am a male myself and I have high tolerance for things but I left the session feeling really grossed out, with my whole body and clothes dirty and less relaxed than when I stepped inside. He was kind enough but the massage itself was very formulaic and you could tell he was running through the motions for a pay check. I noticed he didn't even bother to repeat the same motions on both sides of my body and overall he was too rough. I appreciate good pressure but it was borderline painful. Overall, I was too uncomfortable to relax and I still tipped 30% but ultimately I would not come back and could not in good conscience recommend anyone coming here. They prefer you call ahead to schedule an appointment to ensure they have a masseuse for you. I called to schedule a 1 hour foot massage. They have some parking spots behind their shop. Otherwise, street parking in the front. Be wary of the parking restrictions (2 hour parking I believe). The interior is very dim. They have multiple rooms, some single, and some doubles. They literally use up all their open space to put some massage tables in them. When it was my appointment, they walked me over to a section I didn't know existed. It was pretty neat. They soaked my feet in hot water, and as that was going on, they gave me a body massage too! I wasn't expecting that for a foot massage. Each time I come here, I fall asleep. I enjoy the pillow head rest. The bed had cushion which made it more comfortable to lay on. I believe I had a gentleman named Tony. He's great, but the only problem I had with him is that his hands reek of cigarettes. When he massaged my head (which I just came from a head scalp spa), I was saddened to know the money I just spent washing my hair had been contaminated with the smell of cigarettes. Super affordable pricing... $45 / 60 min full body massage?! - - - - - - I was in the area for a walk-in massage that was booked out, but thankfully Lulu Relax Day Spa was nearby. The prices were very affordable, and an older gentleman was with me within 15 minutes. I had the full body massage, and he really worked on my body. I was a bit disappointed at first, since it felt like being rubbed by soft hands - slippery but little pressure. Then, sometime halfway through, I fell asleep and awoke to gradually increasing intensity. From oils to hot stones, the experience was amazing. Later on, I learned the gentleman was in his late 70s (?!) - wow! To have this strength and technique at this age is admirable. When I go tup and dressed, my back felt much better, and my body was much more at ease. Paying was a tad difficult; their card reader didn't work. Additionally, they do accept Zelle, but the lady helping me had to call someone up to confirm that it was received... so plan accordingly! This is an affordable option and for the price it's not bad. Came on a weekday and loved that there is plenty of free street parking. The massage was ok, nothing great and nothing to complain about for the price. If you want a good price for a comfortable massage (it's not deep tissue), this is a good option. I'm glad tried it but won't be coming back. I like supporting small businesses so I was happy for the service but it's not something I would be doing on a regular basis as I prefer a deep tissue or a better spa experience. We really wanted to love this place, but it just wasn't there. My best friend and I get frequent massages and almost always go for two hour sessions. We went in for a same-day, two hour combo massage. The place was clean, parking not ideal, front desk friendly. You could tell the owner Lulu had a lot of pride in her business, but it comes across as uncomfortable. After a very odd introduction, she randomly came into my room and interrupted the session to ask me how the massage was AFTER it started. Kevin (my masseuse) was not the greatest. He is mediocre at best. He couldn't find the right pressure, he was leaning against me while he massaged me, he would stay on the same spot for too long, which interrupted the flow. Actually there was no flow. It felt very disconnected. When he used the hot stones he was clacking them so loudly next to my ears I had to ask him to stop. He spent a whopping 60 seconds on my arms. The music was awful. Nobody wants to hear love song lyrics during a massage. So many background noises - beeping and alarms. I could never truly settle into the massage and relax. Disappointing and could definitely understand how some reviewers used the word "uncomfortable". Sadly, a one and done for us. read more

She has a great balance between firm, targeted pressure (fingers seemed incredibly strong) as well as an ability to apply a larger broad pressure which felt amazing. My buddy and I were looking to get a massage in the San Gabriel Valley, so we did some Yelp Research and it lead us to Lulu Relax Day Spa in San Gabriel. We made an appointment for later in the afternoon for a full body massage for $45 + tip as of this writing. There is a small parking lot in the back, but very limited parking. Do note there's literally another place to get a massage right next door. I think out of the two, me and my buddy preferred Lulu even though it was a bit more in terms of price. Service was good and the massage itself was very good. I love getting massages and it's been so long since I've had one, so it was nice to treat myself to have an hour to just destress and relax. The place is very dark and very purple lolol. I love purple, nothing wrong with purple, but I do think the place feels dated and can feel more modern with some updates to the interior. But what's also interesting is that there were lots of people when we went, so it was quite busy. After we were done with the massage, we even got a stamp card to get $30 off after ten stamps. It's a good strategy to get customers to come back. Overall, I would recommend it and I am curious to see how other spas and massage places compare! read more

Whenever I am back in my hometown of LA I always love getting Chinese foot reflexology and body massages because their techniques really target the needed areas and offer affordable options. This is my first time trying Lulu's - chosen because it was the nearest place with good yelp ratings that fit into my tight schedule. I opted for the 70 min combo (40 min body and 30 min foot reflexology) for $50. It was good. I only rated 4 stars instead of 5 because I found it different from other establishments when it came to the foot reflexology. The bucket was brought into the body massage room and they soaked my feet while I was still laying on my back. Then they proceeded to do foot and leg massage while I stayed prone on my back. Normally I would have preferred sitting in a chair. As a result I didn't feel I had as good a foot reflexology massage as I could have. I didn't see any massage chairs in the front area so perhaps space was limited. I booked a lymphatic massage and was given a totally different massage that I did not request. Couldn't communicate due to a language barrier. I tried communicating with my phone. It was very frustrating. I spoke to the manager Tom who I had a text thread with confirming my lymphatic massage, which he tried to deny. Horrible! I would not recommend this place. Additional: The massage person did not speak English I tried to explain the type of massage I required by text on my phone numerous times. She still didn't understand and had to call the manager Tom who obviously didn't understand either when I spoke to him and tried to explain before and after the massage. My husband and I went to Lulu day spa for a full body massage (60 min). I was able to call few days earlier to reserve a time slot for us and we were able to get a room that catered to both of us in one room. It's interesting because there is another massage place that's relatively new right next to them, which the front desk person said not to go to and apparently they lie to customers saying that they are owned by the same person when they're not! The massage therapists at Lulu took such nice care of us - it was a deep tissue so some pain but in a really therapeutic way! We came out feeling so rejuvenated. Wow, just had an amazing 60 massage from YoYo. In the beginning, I addressed my main focus was shoulders and neck because I'm super tense from carry my baby all the time. She knew exactly which side hurts the most too. Only reason I took out a one star was because I felt like the walls were a bit thin and I could hear other coworkers conversations and I encountered 2-3 times like someone using a stick to hit the table. First time visiting a spa and met Lulu herself who gave me a quick tour of the place. Other than body massage they do facials, couples massage and do nails here as well. The spa is kept dim and music at a very low level to keep with the relaxing environment. I only had about an hour so I just did a regular body massage, but since it was my first time Lulu threw in complimentary hot stones as well! This place has you strip down to your birthday suit so be aware of that. They cover you with a strategic towel as they massage so you don't get too cold. Massage pressure was hard, as I prefer it that way I didn't really have to say anything to the masseuse. They use copious amounts of massage oil and some how find those sore spots you didn't even knew existed. I appreciate that they do ask if you have any problem areas they can focus on, so I felt that the attention to detail was nice. This is going to be my go-to massage place anytime I'm in the area having my car get serviced at Tire Central two buildings down. read more

I hate hate hate leaving bad reviews, but this was the worst massage I've ever experienced. We had a couples massage, and at the end of the massage we looked at each other in agreement, we will never come Back. I had a male masseuse that spent so much time on my head. I don't understand why. Maybe it would have been okay if it was actually relaxing but it was intense and there was too much pressure applied. When he got to my neck he was doing hard repetitive motions as if he found a knot, but there was none and he just kept going at it. This is when I wanted the massage to be over, but silly me trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was the most painful back massage ever. If you're Asian and know of coining technique that we use when we are sick , this massage was equivalent to worse than that. I felt that he was going down my spine the entire time. Other times he was palpating my spleen so hard that it hurt. It made me second guess myself, that I possibly had splenomegaly ( enlarged spleen). When he got to my lower back, he applied so much pressure on my sacrum. I have no idea why my sacrum was a part of this massage but it was red afterwards. Anyway, after this lousy massage, we went to pay and even though we did not want to tip, we decided to tip 15$ total, which is still 17% each.. and they had the nerve to ask us to tip 16$. I know it's only 1$ but we did not enjoy the service at all and a tip should reflect the service provided. 17% is still a generous tip. I do not recommend this place, save your 40$ and find a better place. If you want to try it out anyway, remember you get what you pay for. Bummer. read more

I called in for two massages, one was for me and due to being 15 weeks pregnant I had asked for 60 min foot massage and 30 minute back massage. For my husband, just the regular 90 minute combo. The man I spoke to on the phone recommended that I lay on my side for the back massage since it wasn't recommended for me to lay completely flat on my stomach. I was perfectly fine with the recommendation and that was exactly why I wanted only 30 minutes on my back and knowing that a foot massage you can incline the chair, I wanted that to be 60 minutes. When we arrived, I specified that my main concerns were my neck, shoulders, lower back, calves and feet. We were then both placed over where they do foot massages, which is basically those sofa chairs that you can incline. Technically my husband should've been in a private room as his was a regular 90 minute combo, but since it's our first time there we don't like to nit pick and went with the flow. Never did they tell my husband to take off his shirt or pants, he felt awkward to even remove his pants as we were placed in an open corner with beaded curtains, so at most he took off his shirt. I wore a T-shirt, but underneath had a spaghetti strap, so I had decided to take off my T-shirt as I assume that some lotion or oil would be applied on me. As the massage went on, I patiently kept thinking where's the lotion or oil, I would look over at my husband and he got oil that was applied on him, but why was my back massage just with this older man's bare hand pressing and rubbing on me without anything. It felt rough and he mainly massaged with one hand the whole time. If they couldn't accommodate a pregnant back massage, then I would've understood and just stuck to a 60 minute foot massage. On top of that, when he massage my head and face, his hands had the stench of smoking cigarettes. What started to make me feel unhappy, was he ended up spending a full hour rubbing my head, neck, and only upper shoulders. Never did he even massage my Lower back. I would look at the clock and now there's only 30 minutes left. I told my husband at this point that I was super dissatisfied, and almost contemplating on ending the massage and leaving, but then I told myself maybe the foot massage would be better even though it should've been 60 mins long, not 30 mins. It got worse...He actually added too much pressure and it was hurting more than feeling good and relaxing. He then ended the foot massage 5 minutes early as I had my eyes open the whole time because I couldn't feel relaxed and would look at the clock. The last 5 minutes he just took his time wiping me off slowly. When they finished I asked my husband how his massage was and he said his lady barely applied pressure. All she did was glide over his skin. Both masseuses basically did the bare minimum and got by with the whole service. I was soo pissed and sensitive due to my pregnancy. I have never experienced such horrible service at a massage parlor. Even though the massage was very disappointing, my husband still paid for both of our services, but told the man whom we spoke to on the phone (possibly manager) that I was really unhappy with the service and my masseuse. The man then argued and said that it was because I was pregnant that this was the best they can do. This really got me more frustrated. Due to being Pregnant my back massage should not be done with lotion or oil?! I kept this to myself as the point wasn't to argue with the main guy in the front, but as local customers we were just trying to give him feedback about one of his workers and how lazy and unprofessional of a massage the whole experience was, and instead his response was defensive. After he made his comment, he even tried to give us a stamp card. My husband declined and said to him this will be the first and last time we will ever come back to this place. I do not recommend coming here at all. I personally don't think these masseuse's are licensed or properly trained to massage people. Anyone can put lotion/oil over a body and just slide and glide with their hands. I just happen to be the unlucky one whom didn't get any lotion or oil during her back massage, just dry bare skin on skin rub. read more

However, I was accepted as a walk in today and had to take a male massage therapist. I've only ever had female massage therapists before but Nick was INCREDIBLE. He made me super comfortable and asked if I was okay multiple times. I'm a hairdresser and my body needs a lot of pressure to be properly worked out. Nick was thorough and got all my knots out. What a great way to end the year! Got a 60 minute massage with oils and hot stones. Shelly was great -- such a sweetheart and a great masseuse. I will say, the massage seemed to be in the rougher side, so I would probably ask for a more gentle touch next go round. Definitely left a little on the tender side, though it's probably what I needed! Love that the bed was heated... perfect for a chilly, gloomy day! My only gripe is that you can hear everything since there aren't real doors to the individual rooms -- the walls are a bit thin and the street out front can get quite audible. I also got a facial (my first ever) and it was everything I ever needed -- how do I never do this before?! Not entirely sure what was happening the entire time, as my eyes were closed but it was lovely! I felt like a cat/dog being pet all over my face. There was a lot of delightful smells throughout the session and I came out of there looking and feeling like a whole new woman. My masseuse was Jun, and she was great! I requested to focus on the shoulders and back and she did just that! She was able to really work out the knots, even in areas I didn't know were tense.
