Showed up to my appointment after an hour drive and they said they called one time to a home phone number that is not even in service any longer, to leave me a message saying that my doctor had gone home for the day. When I asked if they had tried to email me or also text me like they do ten times before my appointment, so that I can confirm, she said, no, it doesn't sound like anybody did that. I find it funny that when they want to make sure you don't cancel an appointment, they will charge you one hundred dollars, and if you show up to an appointment you thought you had and no one got a hold of you to tell you, it was canceled....they do nothing, it's just oops, sorry about that. I've been a patient of dr. Clive Liu since 2009. He has always treated me with great care. I go for my once a yearly and any other problems which might occur. Dr.Liu has a great sense of humor and goes the extra mile. When I stepped onto a ceramic piece which lodged itself in my heel my primary doctor couldn't get it out. The foot clinic couldn't see me for a week and the emergency room was too busy. I called. Dr Liu he had me come in right away and he took care of the problem. I don't know what the negative reviews are about- I was not able to reach scheduling initially, but they were able to call me back without leaving a voice message (amazing). I wanted to be scheduled as a new patient, under 10 minutes they were able to get my information and had me scheduled for the following week. The front desk staff was great, so kudos to whoever was working, the process was quick and efficient. Of course, like any doctor's clinic, they were running slightly late but no more than 10 minutes. I read a lot of the reviews before choosing this dermatologist. I'm fussy about my skin, but I'm also a former sun worshipper with a family history of skin cancer. I'm not interested in a dermatologist selling me their skin care line, and I'm not in the market for a bunch of cosmetic work. That said, I'm 50 and have been a model and beauty queen and though I'm doing my best to age gracefully, I don't want ugly scars or utilitarian style work on my skin. I want a dermatologist who listens, who knows their field and who cares about my health and the results of any necessary procedure- the health outcome and how it looks. Dr Gogenola is outstanding. He's kind, smart and efficient and he really listens. As I read Yelp reviews I sometimes wonder about people who complain about bedside manner whenI meet a doctor like this who is perfectly delightful. I can only guess perhaps these are the patients who don't go in knowing what they want the doctor to look at and address, or who expect something impossible (or free). I just don't know. Because I found Dr. G absolutely wonderful. If you're going to a dermatologist here's my advice 1) schedule an appointment for what you need- if you want to ask about every bump on your body, book enough time. If they only have a short appt and you agree then don't whine about them not giving you their entire day 2) be ready. Go in with your patient intake forms complete and know exactly what you want to show the doctor and ask him 3) be brief, be bright, be gone. Your doctor (any, not just derms) need to know exactly what you want them to look at and if you have an expectation tell them. Medical school doesn't include mind reading. If you expected him to suggest cutting that wart off your nose, say "I thought you'd want to remove that- can you?" And if cost is a worry ask! "Will insurance cover it?" DON'T EVEN TRY!!! Called multiple times, no one ever answers the phone. And when someone finally calls you back, the staff is rude and unhelpful. Never had a place so rude when you're trying to make an appt. They literally want you to do everything, ie "insurance PPO or HMO if you don't know call your insurance", "we can't find your referral, can you please call your provider to resend" EVEN though my insurance DOES NOT require a referral. My provider sent a referral over 6 weeks ago, and they tell me "oh it's likely lost can you please call them to resend." Ya, that was the last straw don't even waste your time and trying to make an appointment. Tip to the doctors- if you want to keep your place in business you need a whole new staff! Both ladies I spoke with was rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. New patients mean additional revenue which pays for their salaries... you may want to remind your staff of that!! read more

Dr. Nguyen knew exactly my skin problem was and pointed me to the right medicine. "Annular Erythema" was the devil. Easy parking and conveniently located in dt Bellevue. I've had very bad "skin allergy"for the past couple month and after seeing my primary doctor twice and an allergist, no one figured out the cause. Dr Dang is great! But her front staff is so terrible. They can't get my first name, right. I don't feel value as a parent there. I've made it clear when the first call to visit that Id like to be called by my preferred name and they dismissed it many time. It felt so disrespectful talking to them everytime and having to repeat my name.Today their attitude was so rude I walked out of the appointment. Again they didn't get my name right, there were other patients waiting and could hear too. I asked to make sure they took ApplePay/contactless payments (google maps says they do, and I paid copay with it during last visit) I wanted to make sure, I can pay with my card if needed. I read all the reviews of this office here and am struck with the wildly varying opinions of this practice and, particularly, of Dr. Gogenola. I can only provide my personal opinion, based on my personal experiences. I have nothing negative to say and, personally, I "clicked" with Dr. G. Having a topical, pesky issue for many years, I decided to finally address it, asking my GP for a referral to a dermatologist. My GP advised that she brought her own child to Dr. Gogenola and he was excellent. That was good enough for me! I booked the appt over the phone. The receptionist with whom I spoke was very businessline and perhaps a bit curt. I was referred to their website where I could print out and fill out various forms prior to my visit, which would save me much time. I liked that! Yes, the forms are a hassle, but I expect as much nowadays from any medical establishment. My appt was super-early in the morning, right when they open at 8am. I was there earlier, even, and suprisingly, it was hopping crazy busy. At 8am, the waiting room was packed. I sat by the receptionist desk and watched them for 10 minutes multi-tasking the ringing phones and people approaching them with questions and multiple interruptions from the MAs and each other. It was like managed chaos. I used to work in a dr's office so I know it can get crazy like this at times, but to have it so busy, so early, and probably sustained like this throughout the day, well.... I could understand how and why I didn't get the "warm fuzzies" from the scheduler on the phone when I had called earlier. That's one tough job! I was seen promptly and brought to the exam room. I met MAs Tiffany and Glory, who were incredibly friendly and nice. Dr. G. arrived and I liked his demeanor and sense of humor! We chatted for about 10 minutes, he checked my minor but pesky problem, wrote me a script and gave me some instructions, and that was that. Dr. Liu at Bellevue dermatology is always positive and uplifting I have many skin issues including face lift, and over 200 moles removed during my 70 years. Dr. Liu did not remove moles for me or provide a facelift but has served as my protector against melanoma as I age. I promise he's always thorough with a bright sure attitude and he knows his science. He Can take specimens of skin samples that might turn into something serious. I am vigilant because my cousin contracted melanoma and has had two brain surgeries to remove the cancer started from a mole on his stomach. She made me feel stupid and anxious for asking questions and loudly asked about my condition in front of a room of other patients. There are more than one receptionists working here, as the receptionist I scheduled with was kind and helpful. I was told I had an appointment at 9:30, so I had to be there at 9:15... after showing up at 9:15, and waiting until 9:55 I finally asked the front desk woman what was happening. She told me my apt was actually scheduled for 9:45, and they were running 30 mins late. I had to get a babysitter for my 2 month old baby to come to this apt. This was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time. Getting out of the house with a tiny baby is a challenge in itself, and then to have this happen. I will never go here. I completely agree with Karlee V.! This office is a little frightening. I've never been to any dentist or doctor that didn't have you fill out a complete medical history prior to being seen. RED FLAG! Dr. Gogenola didn't even look at my skin before writing me several prescriptions - all of which I turned out to be allergic to. Not that my allergic reaction is his fault, as I didn't even know I was allergic, but everyone and their mom is allergic to sulfa drugs! His bedside manner, for lack of a better term, is awful. It's not a tumor! Probably. :) I shaved my head a few months back and found this little tiny spot right on the top of my head, so I made my first ever visit to a dermatologist... Dr. Gogenola. First off, his staff was extremely friendly when I told them I forgot I'd have to pay. They let me come back later and pay them and give them my insurance. Then they got me right in... less than 5 minutes waiting. The nurse was very friendly and chatted me up for a minute. I saw the doctor almost immediately and he said it's nothing, but we'll chop off that little spec anyway... great. I HATE needles. Actually hate doesn't even begin to cover it. Anyway, they jabbed a tiny little needle in my head right there, then took about 30 seconds to stitch me up. What was exceptional was how well he distracted me. Normally, you'd have to strap me down to do something like that, but he kept talking about his Lotus, motorcycles, and flying with friends. He also told me about how he got malled by a dog as a child so he can't shave his head and be cool like everyone who does that is. Before I knew it, I was all done and walking out with a new band-aid on my head. It kinda hurts now, but not too bad. When they ask, I'm going to tell all my friends that I got in a knife fight... This is by far the worst experience i've ever had with any doctor in USA. Not only were two of their doctors unable to diagnose what the issue is even after a biopsy, but they have been completely unreachable since then and have not sent their notes or test results to my primary care physician. I have called them COUNTLESS times, and left at least 3 messages, and my primary care physician has called them at least another 3 times. I really don't know what to do at this point to get my records from them so I can be referred to another dermatologist that might have a clue what's going on. This is extremely unprofessional and just plain outrageous for any medical practice. Save yourselves the immense frustration and the wasted time and money, and go elsewhere. read more

I have had a facial rash that pops up from time to time and is really more of an annoyance than anything. I have been to several doctors regarding the condition but Dr. Liu was the first to take the time to explain what really was going on and what my options were for treating it. All of the other doctors I have seen just briefly look at my face and give me antibiotics. I think it helped that the doctor gets the same type of condition from time to time so he knows what my concerns were. Bellevue Dermatology's new office is much bigger and a lot more modern than there previous location about a block away. The office staff and nurses are all very polite. ive been going to Bellevue derm to see dr. gogenola for almost a decade and never had any issues so its interesting to read some of the mixed reviews. the service has always been consistent so it's unfortunate that others didn't experience the same thing that I have. it's easy to make an appointment with the staff, the nurse is friendly and everything's been to the point. i've been here for rashes, skin issues, allergies and a couple cosmetic services. I read a review about someone complaining how they had to complete a medical form before being seen and was upset about it, weird....LOL. that has always been the case for every medical place i've been too-I mean, wouldn't you want a doctor to know what your history is so they can be cautious of certain things that you highlight on the form? also, I agree with another reader who commented about easy to pay and relaxed about getting payment. yes they want their money but they give their clients the benefit of the doubt and help them with options to get their payments in. read more

Last time i gave one star but to be honest few other dermatologists also couldn't tell me my diagnosis (although new biopsy ruled out bug bites at all), but they were able to find a cure - light therapy. Dr.Clive Liu is a GREAT doctor! I've been coming here for a few years and he has always had a smile on his face even if we still couldn't figure out what was going on. It's too bad the receptionists there kind of hold him back a bit. They are a lot older and slower too. It's okay when there's no one in the office but when they get even a little busy you can see them panic a bit and not work well under pressure as it seems - they can also get short with patients when this happens unfortunately. The nurses and light box staff are very nice and friendly as well and are a pleasure to work with. People who are leaving negative reviews because of the length of a form they have to fill out as a new patient, or how a phone call goes, obviously has never worked in medicine!! Get a grip!! With Obamacare it's only going to get worse. Why would you expect to be seen somewhere and not have to fill out new patient paperwork? Dr. Gogenola is the dermatologist that I return to time and again. He is very knowledgeable and is able to take care of my skin and put me at ease when I think I may be in for skin cancer that turns out to be something benign. I have had other doctors remove growths from my nose and cheeks for biopsies and I have been left with scars, but he is very gentle and has left me with no marks. Sometimes the treatments are painful but I always leave feeling that I have had the best treatment I can get in the Seattle and Eastside areas. read more

Do not go there! Went to Dr. Nguyen for some minor issues on my skin and got put on two different antibiotics and was prescribed some cream. There was no improvements at my follow up appointment.
