I most certainly do recommend Bellevue Pain Clinic whole-heartedly! When I first came to the Clinic, I was not in the greatest shape physically. The worst pain i was having was in my lower back. I could not sit up for very long before starting to hurt, nor stand for three or four minutes at a time. I was constantly laying down because it was the most comfortable position for me. Along with some other aches and pains, over time, the aches and pains were dissapating. As I was beginning to feel better, my outlook on life and my mood were also changing for the better. I can't say enough good things about this practice! I was experiencing terrible back pain several years ago. I have lumbar spinal stenosis and scoliosis and have lived with lower back pain for almost 15 years. In 2019 sciatica nerve pain kicked in making standing, walking, running and lying in bed difficult. In 2021, I underwent laminectomy. Up until then, I had gone through physical therapy several times at different health care clinics. Both physical therapy and laminectomy did not heal nor alleviate the pain. In 2023 spinal fusion surgery was recommended as the only way to go. I shied away from spinal fusion surgery to try and find alternative treatment. I learned about the Bellevue Pain Institute in July 2025 and made an appointment with the owner, Dr. Kevin Polzin, who evaluated my condition and determined that I qualified for their non-surgical treatment. I provided my spine medical history including evaluations which were done by other neurologists to make sure Dr. Polzin had enough information to help him make the right judgment. He prescribed a treatment plan that had three different procedures: two physical and one laser, all done in a one-hour appointment, once a day. After 5 treatment appointments, there was no change in level of pain, and at that point I became skeptical. All the treatment procedures but laser treatment were same as what I had in the past and didn't work for me. I was not sure about the laser treatment. I discussed my skepticism with Dr. Polzin after the 5th appointment, and he suggested I give the treatment more chance until the 12th appointment. After the 10th appointment there was still no change; the pain level was the same as it was on day one. At that point, I completely lost hope and decided to drop out of the treatment plan. In my last conversation with Dr. Polzin, he said since his treatment did not work, the only thing that should be done next is spinal fusion surgery, the exact same thing I was told in 2023. I wondered if he knew that at the beginning and chose not to tell me so I can do his treatment. Dr. Polzin is well versed in spine health. He examined my spine images and told me it was in one of the worst conditions he had ever seen and wondered how I still was able to walk. He eloquently said although there was no guarantee the treatment he prescribed would eliminate the pain; I had a very good chance of getting significant pain relief from it. Unfortunately, the treatment I received was totally ineffective. I think there was not enough evaluation done of my condition to determine what treatment would work for me if at all. There was a rush to get me started on the treatment which I think was trial-and-error. Another bombshell was that most of the treatment I was given was not covered by my medical insurance. I do take some responsibility for that because I did not pay much attention to finding out what was and wasn't covered by medical insurance before signing up for the treatment. I must have been too desperate to get treatment resulting in not checking the out-of-pocket cost of the treatment, culminating in the worst and costliest decision I have ever made. I would like to suggest the Pain Institute spends more time evaluating medical conditions more thoroughly and making it a high priority to have patients fully understand everything about the treatment, including what is and is not covered by the medical insurance before signing the agreement and proceeding with treatment. This may take more time, but it is beneficial to both parties. I think the Pain Institute fell short on this one resulting in me getting the short end of the stick with ineffective treatment and paying thousands of dollars out of pocket for it. I am a 66 year old woman who has had moderate scoliosis since I was 12. I was reasonably asymptomatic until my mid 40's. I have sought regular chiropractic, PT, and osteopathic care since then to deal with pain. I went over two years going to doctors and physical therapy. None of them would give me an MRI because they told me I needed to lose weight or I had arthritis. None of this was true. My first appointment was about what pain I have as to why I was there. Then I was off to get full body Xrays at Bellevue Imaging. My second appointment then showed me the cost, payment plans, etc. for what was seen on the Xrays and a taste of the manipulations that would be required 3 times a week ! Then they put on a back brace with an ice pack. Sticker shock on the cost was my first thought until they said to get better would require manipulations 3 times a week, which an hour+ drive each way was a deal breaker. I did ask if I could return the back brace knowing it was going to be ridiculously expensive and was told no.....turned out it was a $200 back brace that you can certainly get elsewhere for under $50. All that was just step one of 3....cha ching ! I would not recommend this place based on what seemed to be an extremely costly venture without much assurance for success and the fact insurance doesn't cover a large portion ESPECIALLY THE OVERPRICED BACK BRACE. I have been suffering neuropathy due to diabetes. I thought would try more natural way of treatment without hard medication. People there are nice, but only when they want to call you to set up more appointments. I was going 3 times a week but due to illness i stop going but not once did I get a call for them to check on me and to see why I stop coming Treatment wise I felt no improvement but Dr was trying so hard to show me that I have improved during our mid assessments. lol This treatment may work for some but not for me. BPI really is the best if you are needing relief from chronic pain or any discomfort. In short, I came to them with nerve damage in my right knee and Neuropathy sustained from a partial knee replacement(pin implant) surgery which took place out of state a few years prior. My pain was intolerable most of the time. ( I was a very healthy active mother prior to this surgery, which made my situation very difficult.) The surgeon labeled me with CRPS as opposed refering me to a specialist or indicating that he may have damaged a nerve(only if he was honest would he do that). Although the people are friendly, I felt like I got a bit of "bait and switch" and "buy now" pressure. Definitely felt like a business. I was interested in the advertised nerve stimulation for neuropathy. I went in for the free consultation. Ended up paying $200 for a chiropractic exam (they are not in network with Regence), being scheduled to go get x-rays and then after that came to find out if I want to get anything out of all this I have to come back for another $100 appointment to discuss findings (which they didn't mention until after I had already had and paid for the first exam.) Only after that I would have the appointment with the Dr. NP that actually does the nerve stimulation instead of the chiropractor. Since having a minute to step back and see what is going on, I feel like this pattern will continue, and will not be going back for the results even though I already spent the first $200. I guess the "free" consultation is the part where they talk to you and tell you that you could be helped, but will need an $200 exam to proceed. I can see their reasoning - have to look at the whole system, but I'm pretty sure my neuropathy is caused by my chronic conditions. I was not interested in chiropractic treatment and just wanted to try the nerve stimulation. Thought I was going in for that, not to be evaluated for chiropractic treatment. Really not sure how I ended up being talked into that. I guess it's on me that I didn't stop right there when it started morphing into something I didn't want. I did something unknown to injure my neck in May of 2016. After it was apparent that it wasn't a simple kink, I visited a chiropractor. This did nothing to alleviate the severe pain and so, I tried deep tissue massage, nearly 200 trigger point injections of lidocaine, Chinese cupping, high-dose anti-inflammatory, ten radio-frequency ablation procedures and opinions of three different orthopedic surgeons. May 22, 2019 I had back surgery. After the back surgery I developed neuropathy in both feet. It was excruciating, like my feet had been skinned then rubbing alcohol had been poured on them. I tried several medications and received no relief. I finally was desperate and willing to try anything. After 4 weeks of treatment I seem to have improved about 25%, I have much relief where the pain is tolerable now. I know if I stick with the plan I should continue to improve. The plan includes a healthy diet and supplements as well. The staff here seems very caring and they are rooting for you to succeed. I have suffered with restless leg syndrome and lower back pain for several years and have had many medications and physical therapy with little relief. I received 4 months of Dr. Polzin's cold laser therapy, spinal distraction, and spinal manipulation, and while my symptoms are reduced, my symptom's are not cured. I received treatments 3 times a week for the first month and a half, then down to 2 times a week for the rest of treatments. All between end of July 2014, through the end of November 2014. I had appointments scheduled for December, but since Dr. Polzin did a re-evaluation during that first visit in December, he offered another treatment plan with me paying more money, I declined and did not receive any treatments in December. I came to Dr. Polzin in a state of desperation, my symptoms were getting worse, and the idea of increasing the medications was not ideal. So when he told me that although I did not have neuropathy, (what his add advertised as helping) my bulging disc in my lower back could be causing the symptoms in my legs, he felt that his treatments would help with this. He presented me with a treatment plan that came to a total just under 5000.00. He stated that results would happen fast, that I would be pain free, and that it would be forever. 5000.00 is a lot of money for me. He has a relationship with a finance company which quickly approved me and before I knew it, I walked out the door with a 5000.00 debt. The care was excellent in the beginning. Then sometime around the 2nd or 3rd week, they started using 2 laser heads at the same time. Many times I felt that the girls giving the cold laser treatments were rushing and not stopping at all the beeps which indicated inflammation which needed treatment. It all felt rushed, sloppy, and uncaring. Whenever I stood back and watched, the whole operation was like an extreme assembley line system. So, all of this background to let you know, that while he might help, I don't believe it's worth 5000.00. Since I have had this experience, I have done some research and found that the cold laser machine Dr. Polzin uses, a M4 LaserStim Terraquant, costs about 5000.00. They are available online, wwwcoldlasers.org/terraquant/laserstim. Had I checked this out first, I could have bought my own machine and been able to treat myself indefinitely. Less expensive is an inversion table which uses gravity to distract your spine. You can get them at many different prices, a very good quality one can be bought on Amazon for 200.00. All with many reviews to help you decide. I believe I would have reached the level of wellness I am at now with an inversion table, consistancy, and patience, and not gotten myself 5000.00 in debt. Please do lots of research for your condition before going to his office. Check your insurance to see if cold laser given by a chiropractor is covered. Most likely it is not. I did press the "buy now" button on the above mentioned website, and they did not ask for any type of license, and the ladies treating my back did not display any special training for using the device. There are not enough stars to tell you how good this pain clinic is! Last winter I five spent months on the sofa with what felt like a blowtorch burning the front of my leg and electrical shock type pain hitting that same leg during the night. Lots of pain, no sleep and no help from the medical community. Multiple visits to medical doctors , emergency rooms, chiropractors, acupuncturist, physical therapist, lots of tests taken, lots of pain pills prescribed but no pain relief and no one knowing what was wrong. Finally a very nice neurologist diagnosed - peripheral neuropathy in both feet, mono neuritis in one leg and by that time I also had permanent drop foot. Unfortunately he too could only prescribe pain pills. "Nothing can be done for peripheral neuropathy except pain medication and it will probably get worse" he said. Then I got lucky , my husband heard a radio commercial about Sound Pain Solutions and got me to Bellevue Pain Institute. Within two treatments I could tell that the treatment Dr. Polzin and Dr. Gill were giving me greatly reduced my pain and within ten weeks I was pain free! I have just returned to the clinic ,from out of state for the winter , with a new back problem. I am more than confident they will be able to help me quickly . If you are in pain please know there really is help out there and pain pills are NOT the answer. Get yourself to Bellevue Pain Institute ASAP! There are chiropractors and there are quacks... I've been to both and I have found that Dr. Polzin is the real deal when it comes to fixing my pain. He also helped me lose weight and I ran my first half marathon this past winter, after losing 47 pounds. I've had motorcycle accidents, boating accidents, and work related injuries. In Easter morning, 2018, I started experiencing pain in my hands. Within two weeks, my hands and arms were numb and I began dropping things. To say I was scared was quite an understatement! I am not a fan of all chiropractors, but I am a fan of Bellevue Pain Institute. I believe the staff truly has the patients interest at the forefront. The entire staff is friendly and relaxed. They spend the time necessary to answer questions and they are above all professional and interested in what they do. I don't know how they vet their staff, but they do a great job. Every member of the staff is knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend giving Bellevue Pain Institute a try before thinking about back surgery. If surgery does not work, chances are you will be worse off than when you started. With a regimen of chiropractic and therapy at Bellevue Pain Institute chances are your condition will improve without the risks of surgery. My personal story has a 20 year history. I was lead to believe my insurance covered the first 10 visits and I only had to cover an additional 20. Treatment was fundamental and involved little attention by support staff, 10 min laser treatment, 15 min decompression, some ice, and minimal vibratory tool applied. Efforts were insignificant on my herniated disc which heals on its own in 4-6 weeks my primary doctor said. Anyway, I can't recommend there overpriced and misleading substandard care. You can get way more effective treatments elsewhere fora fraction of the cost. I think there running a lucrative racket overvalued and ineffective....I give them a zero rating and will be pursuing a equitable refund.!!! read more

I began seeing Dr Greg Cofano in the summer of 2019 after experiencing increasingly frequent lower back pain. After consultation with Dr Cofano, we determined that the treatment program would be appropriate for me. Over the course of a few months, my symptoms have lessened and I am able to resume many of the activities from a few years ago. The innovative treatment tools including spinal decompression, laser therapy, nutritional supplements and core strengthening exercises have set me on a path to more pain-free daily activities. In addition to these treatments, Dr Cofano explained to me the relationship between nutrition and chronic inflammation, that was contributing to my back pain. Amazing results! I will be forever grateful to Dr. Polzin and his fantastic staff. I started going for treatment because of a severe case of Postherpetic neuralgia on my face and head. I had been suffering with it since 2010 when I had a severe case of the shingles. Before treatment at Bellevue Pain Institute, I was taking 3600 milligrams of gabapentin per day to treat the pain, mostly unsuccessfully. My pain has decreased from ranging between a 5 and 9 on a 10 point scale to a 0 to 1 on a 10 point scale. I have cut my pain medication down to 600 milligrams per day and am working with my MD to get off of it completely. I have my life back! read more

About two years ago, I came to Bellevue Pain Institute for the first time. I had dealt with chronic lower back pain for 15 years. Dr. Polzin and the wonderful team at BPI started treatment with me, and, after 10 weeks of intensive treatment, I was fixed! I no longer had pain, and I could do whatever I wanted without fear of throwing my back out. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with maintenance because I felt so good, and I ended up with worse issues than before. So I came back to BPI for help. It turns out my back was in worse shape than when I had first come to BPI. My discs were more compressed and my spine was curved at 1.8 degrees past the designation for scoliosis. But the team took me on again, and I'm happy to say that 5 weeks later, I am better! It took work from me and from the team at BPI, but every dollar spent and every unhealthy meal turned down was worth it. I am now back on maintenance, and I will not stop this time. I cannot say enough good things about this team of amazing doctors and technicians. Not only are they knowledgeable and really good at what they do, they are fun and kind and supportive all the time.
