I want to share my negative experience with Bellhop in hopes that it will discourage other potential clients from making the same mistake that I made in hiring this company. We hired four movers to do a local move on Friday afternoon for a house that is under 2,000 square feet. The van was parked in the driveway of our cul de sac blasting rap music with profanity (the dirty version of So Fresh and So Clean by Outkast, if I need to be specific) and I noticed that the movers were incredibly chatty and playful with each other - so my first impression was an unfortunate one, but I figured as long as they could quickly, efficiently, and safely move our furniture while being so talkative, then I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Half way through the move, two of the four movers told my husband that they had to leave (for basketball practice apparently?) and the other two movers would complete the move. The other two movers had a hard stop around 6:30, so they ended up only taking the boxes, one appliance, and a few pieces of furniture to the new house. They put everything in our living room/garage - despite the clearly marked boxes with the room it should be placed in - and left us with hardly any furniture or appliances and huge piles of disorganized boxes. Bellhop was booked for the rest of the weekend and informed us the earliest time they could come back would be Monday or Tuesday. One of the movers assured my husband that they would come back Monday morning at 8am. We HAVE to be out of our house Monday afternoon and need to do a move-out clean before vacating the property. After some phone tag, it was brought to our attention that we had an "unconfirmed" move scheduled for 8am on Monday morning... so movers *MIGHT* show up but it's not guaranteed. Bellhop also kept referring to our move as a "new" move, but it should be considered an ONGOING move since they were unable to finish what they started. I called Bellhop this afternoon to try and get the movers confirmed, was placed on hold for 36 minutes and then they hung up on me. I called again and was told they need an hour to confirm with operations. During this hour, I've gone ahead and found another company that will be able to accomodate us (and I told the representative that I spoke with that I would be spending this time booking a new mover and writing a negative review). It has been almost 48 hours and nothing with Bellhop has been resolved, and our furniture is still at our old home. If you are looking to hire an unprofessional, inefficient, and incompetent company then I strongly encourage you to hire Bellhop. If you value your time, money, and having all your belongings moved in the same day and not over 4 days, then please do yourself a favor and find a different company. read more

The movers were absolutely wonderful. They were professional, friendly, and informative. Greet employees hired. HOWEVER, the truck was an hour and a half late. This wasted my time and the movers' time. They sent another truck and the moving out portion was super slow. They charged me for three hours, but the first hour was figuring out the logistics of the truck. Also, they offered me 25% off for the inconvenience, but that does not replace my time. They should have offered more off due to how the moving experience went. I would not use this service again, but at least they moved me out. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY LONG DISTANCE MOVE! Leading up to my move I had several questions and getting anyone to answer them was like pulling teeth. No one ever answered their phone, no one had a direct number to call back when I did finally get someone, and the info in the chat feature that we exchanged was very basic and kept telling me if I had further questions to call their customer support. Yea! Great, if they answered the phones! I was told over and over they were short staffed! That's not our problem as consumers, and they should probably tell potential clients this is something they are working through before they pay for their services! Once you pay, you are in some black hole..... anyway on the day of the move, I had all of my belongings packed, labeled, and ready. They needed to wrap and pad my furniture and large standing mirrors and glass tops to a table. I moved from NC to DFW. The loading team almost forgot my grandmother's antique armoire. All of my furniture was moved outside and prepped for loading so I could not actually see what got wrapped and padded and what didn't as I was still in my home getting ready for the things I would be taking with me in my vehicle. I bought these guys lunch and provided them a case of ice cold water. After they were done, I was encouraged to give a 5 STAR review. Little did I know what I would find when arriving in DFW. When the truck arrived and the unloading team arrived, we were shocked that the last items loaded in the truck (that antique armoire and a custom fireplace mantel) were not strapped down. Both were damaged beyond repair. As the movers began to bring things in, we found broken mirrors that should have been wrapped, damaged bookshelves that were not wrapped or padded, a hole through the bottom of my ottoman, and the list goes on. As well as a crushed box that was labeled on all sides with big red FRAGILE stickers. What I learned from the unload crew, is that the loading team should never have taken the items out to pad and wrap. Everything should have been done before it went outside. The furniture was not strapped down, boxes were stacked incorrectly causing shifting. On the front end, the driver was helping the loading crew load the truck. My understanding is that he was supposed to be the one making sure the truck and the items were secure inside since he would be driving my items across the country not hauling boxes out of my home. Since the move in day, I have tried several times to get a hold of someone, sitting on hold for hours. Submitting a chat request, asking that someone call me ASAP about the damages. I was told they are short staffed and unable to make outbound calls!!!! WHAT??? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? They tell you in every email, or message back that if I have questions to call customer support.... no one answers. As I write this, I have submitted a chat over an hour ago, and no one has responded yet. The claim form says only one form per move will be accepted. All of the items and pictures make it too large to submit... what now???? Probably have to get my attorney involved. I have well over $2000 worth of damage or replacement of my belongings. Oh and not to mention, I have a missing box of belongings. It just didn't arrive! read more

Absolutely horrible experience with Bellhop. We were moving a one bedroom apartment two blocks and it took over 6 hours. One mover showed up 2 hrs late, the other left early 2 hrs early. At one point, they got in a fight and broke a mirror in the process. The fight lasted an hour, during which time nothing was moved (but we were charged for the time). They were not professional, moved at a snails pace and then had the audacity to charge us $1000 for the move. We eventually decided to take over And after hours of nothing being moved, we completed the job in 30 minutes. We called multiple times during the move and were told we would be given a quality control call to resolve our issues, which never happened. In no world should a 1 bedroom apartment move take 6 hours and cost over a grand! Do NOT book with the company, you will regret it. read more

They were very thorough in listening to the situation and alerted us that both of the movers we had were terminated. They also told us they will refund us for our horrible experience and were apologetic. When you pay over $700 (with 10% off coupon) to move a partially furnished small 1 bedroom from a storage facility to a place less than 5 miles down the road, you know something went very wrong with this move. That something would be hiring Bellhop. They were grossly INEFFICIENT and INEXPERIENCED, movers who very much don't care about doing a good job as they already have your credit card information and can take as long as they'd like to move your belongings. I was quoted 3 hours and they took OVER 5 AND A HALF HOURS (only trying to finish up at that time as they said they had another job to do). I had 2 movers who moved the exact same things into that storage facility just 2 weeks prior that finished in just 3 hours, however this duo seemed to need 2 men just to carry one box at a time??! I would highly recommend finding another company, preferably one with better customer service (very difficult to get a response to this issue afterward despite several calls), and one which is less impersonal and more reliable (this is a Russian roulette of college aged kids, majority of whom don't need to make a good impression for future business as they won't be there long). read more

Chase and Thomas were excellent! Very personable, thoughtful, and diligent guys. Awesome experience! They not only got the job done efficiently, they did it with great attitudes. They looked at loading up our truck as a challenge and were excited as they figured out their loading strategy. I know the feeling and so I found it easy to let them do their thing because I knew they were "into" what they were doing and weren't just dialing it in and treating our possessions like crap which made a large, stressful out-of-state move much easier. The dudes clock-in on their phones, they do their thing, and then clock-out. Once both are clocked out you get a text with a link to confirm the time and then offer simple ratings for simple metrics like attitude, etc. A great model and a fantastic support team that will help you if you need to adjust your move time, etc. Definitely worth a shot if you need muscle, whether moving or not. FYI, they do not provide a truck, just muscle. read more

They confirmed by phone the day before, and let me know they would arrive 15 minutes early to be ready to start. They actually arrived 25 minutes early and got right to work. The bellhops that we had were awesome. Super professional, cautious with how they moved our furniture in and around corners/floors/doors, quick, efficient, etc. They listened how we wanted things done and helped problem solved as well. When we needed them a little bit longer to help us with the move, they made sure to inform their other customers that they would be a little late and made sure all was well. Fantastic service. Scheduling an appointment as well as making a payment is all very simple and all online. Customer service either through email or phone is very responsive and very friendly too. Happy to make any changes to the reservation and also made sure to inform us of who our assigned movers were going to be as well as their contact info. And finally of course the movers themselves were very capable and efficient. Moreover they were also good at improvising and making sure everything was safe. We actually didn't think we could fit all of our stuff in the truck looking at it but they made it work. And of course the price was very competitive compared to other moving services. Of course, a factor in the price is the fact that they only provide the muscle and you need to provide the truck and/or moving equipment yourself. But that was indeed the scenario for us and if that's the case for you too i would strongly recommend Bellhops. I had scheduled a move with Bellhop about a month in advance. I'd never heard of the company but it looked really professional online plus it had five stars....of course, I later realized that the 5star review was on their own website and not on yelp for example. I confirmed and reconfirmed the date/time of the move with Bellhop. I heard from them (possibly an automated email?) the day before with an excited email saying the move was the next day. Then on THE DAY of the move, at 8am (exactly when the move is scheduled to happen) I get a call from a guy at Bellhop, who very nonchalantly in a monotone voice tells me "the company can't locate a truck for your move today". Literally at that same moment I'm getting a text from a guy saying he's one of my movers and they are all about to arrive. It made no sense to me....There's no truck?? How do I move without a truck to put my things in? I asked these type of questions to the customer service guy who kept acting like it was all no big deal---"well the movers are available" he reassured me. "But what will they move the items into??" I asked. It seems like bellhop doesn't understand that a move involves movers PLUS a truck to actually move the things. You'd think this 1+1 formula would be simple enough, but for some reason the bellhop customer service guy felt that just having movers would take care of the job. After I kept asking about WHAT to move the items in he started to catch on and suggested I go to uhaul and rent my own vehicle. Not only would I have to go rent a truck but bc if laws none of the three guys could help me drive it (I've never driven anything close to the 26 foot truck which is what they recommended). I also had to get a list of things like dollies, ratchets, blankets, etc. So after a lot of back and forth I ended up having to go rent my own truck, drive it across town, then once it was packed drive it to the new place then return it. Bellhop was going to reimburse me for the truck but they wouldn't budge on giving me a discount otherwise....the guy I kept talking to seemed puzzled by the idea that all of this very inconvenient. Besides the nightmare of not having a truck and the very unsympathetic customer service, the actual movers were super cool and friendly. They seemed really annoyed by the lack of a truck too and surprised. There's clearly no coordination between the movers and the truck people. One mover told me this happened to another guy a few weeks ago and the guy flipped out and got the move for free....no such luck on my part. All in all the only thing that made the move happen were the movers themselves and Bellhop just screwed everything up on the corporate level. I'd stay a million miles away from this moving company. They clearly don't have it together and they don't care when they fall through. read more

One of the employees dropped my almost new tv stand, and only offered 39% of the cost of the damages as a refund. I am out $130 to replace the item they admitted they completely ruined. The employee stated he sent in photos to corporate during the time frame they weren't actually moving my items, but I was still responsible for their time. I paid them to send photos in for damage they were responsible for, and didn't get even half my money back for the item. read more

I used this company for my move on Sep 7. The 3 movers and driver assigned to my move arrived and were shown the condo. I specifically spoke to them about wrapping all of the furniture. They brought my beautiful down the stairs unwrapped and subsequently caused 2 big scratches across the top. When unloading at the new condo, I walked outside just in time to see the driver drop my Cantoni desk on the pavement. My understanding is that the driver is not supposed to touch the furniture. The desk was also unwrapped and sustained substantial damage to the trim. My bed headboard was put together upside down and they refuse to come back and fix it. They just sent me a letter that they will reimburse me $192.50 for the damages. They are $169 per hour for substandard, untrained work. When I complained to the girl in Dallas, her solution was to let their supervisor know they needed more training. Unbelievable - they will not respond to me and will not help read more

I'm super disappointed in my most recent experience with Bellhops. I used them for a prior move and it was amazing! The movers were fast, careful, and helpful with the issue we had when we first moved in (the apartment hadn't put our carpet in come moving day). But this time was frustrating and I won't use them again. I was set to move at 10 AM this morning. I got a call at 8:45 this morning saying due to weather and my movers not being able to get out their houses my move was cancelled and needed to be moved to the next day at 1 PM or Thursday. I picked 10AM for a reason. I picked this day for a reason. I've already taken the time off work today. And to call me the day of less than two hours before my move is HIGHLY unprofessional! Then when I said I needed a morning time they told me they wouldn't be able to accommodate that time at all! I just cancelled the move with them all together and went with another company. They claim it was because of weather, but when I went outside it was sunny blue skies! Granted it is a bit cold, but otherwise totally safe to drive and most importantly MOVE. The company I went with instead told me not only were they still moving people, but were going to complete a full schedule today! I'm sad my second go around with this company went this way because I really appreciated how my first move went. I understand it being cold, but that's no reason to completely cancel a move. Yousif and Antareous were great. Both had great attitudes, they were punctual, worked hard to keep the move flowing. just all around great move. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because my couch got really dirty. It's grey so you can see the black stains in various spots. before they began moving I asked if I should cover the couch and they indicated that they would use their own blankets. Bellhops does have a claims process for this so working with them to remedy the issue. Overall, the service was outstanding. read more

This was a horrible experience for our family. First of all their sales dept gave us a very false estimate for our move. Also we were told our bank account wouldn't be charged until after the move. Our move was on a Sat and our bank account was charge 2 days before the move even took place. Who gets paid before they even do the work?? Also when they showed up they were late. And a moving guy short. Not to mention they only moved half of our stuff and then wanted to charge us extra. Never again!! Horrible moving company!! read more

The first time to use this company and was a wee bit skeptical, sounded too good to be true. Help with my move other than truck and moving my stuff? But I called anyway and these two wonderful employees came to my house and loaded a refrigerator from the garage onto our personal truck, a couple of bicycles and moved a roll-top desk and sleeper sofa downstairs for a moving sale. They were wonderful, enthusiastic and all in forty-five minutes. They asked if I needed anything else, which I didn't at that time. But I will call this company again when I need help. I felt like family had visited and the day or two before they came, they sent me pictures of themselves, so I would know who to expect at the door and they were so nice. My experience with Bellhops was fantastic. After I reserved them, I received an email confirmation as well as a phone call from the Bellhops captain to confirm the day before. I could only afford to have them for one hour and told them as such so they loaded and unloaded my moving truck very quickly. They were extremely hard working, courteous and cordial. This IS as good as it gets! Thought we would try bellhops to help move my college student out for the summer. Outstanding attitude and work ethic. Started working as soon as they arrived and didn't shy away from the heavy stuff. Even with 3 flights of stairs, the move took 1/2 the time expected. They even wished me a Happy Mother's Day!
