Extremely unprofessional!!! I scheduled with Bellhops for moving on Sunday at 12pm. On Saturday, a Bellhop person called me at 3pm and told me he would come by in 30' to move and I told him it was wrong because I scheduled for Sunday. Then he confirmed someone will come back on Sunday. On Sunday, I waited until 12:30 pm and no one came so I called Bellhops. They then told me that I was scheduled for moving on Monday. This totally screwed up my day and I had to hire a local moving company to move immediately, which costed me $385. That was not everything yet. When I first called Bellhops to schedule, I told them that I would reserve with U-haul for the truck. Then the guy told me he could help me reserve with budget with a lower cost. Fine, I let him do it. However, on Sunday when I went to pick up the truck, Budget said they did not have any mover truck at that location and that I had to call them to check availability before picking it up (WTF ???). So Bellhops never checked with Budget for the truck availability, although they have been working with Budget. And neither Budget or Bellhops ever called me and let me know that the truck was not available. So I had to drive in a cold and rainy Sunday to pick up the truck to find out that none was available. Budget then sent me to a different location to get a bigger truck. Then after picking the truck at the other location, I found out that Bellhops had a wrong schedule for me and had to return the truck while still having to pay for it.. At the end of the day, I wasted 4 hours for the hassle of getting a truck (on a cold and rainy day) but had to return it later and waiting for never coming Bellhops, wasted $385 for a new moving company and almost $100 for picking the truck but not able to use it. This is my first and last time I ever use Bellhops. I decided to use them at first because of all the good reviews but it turned out to be the worst service experience ever in my life. AND I am still pissed currently!!! UPDATE: I'm revising the rating from * to *** because Bellhops have showed responsibility and worked with me on this issue. They refunded me the cost that I had to pay for the other moving company. They showed that they care about their service quality and their customers by acting and trying to resolve the problem quickly. read more

After this, I don't know how I will ever go back to moving my own items! I had three car loads of items (misc boxes and heavy disassembled furniture in boxes) and my 2 bellhops got them done in record time. I got a courtesy text earlier in the week from my lead bellhop as well as one the morning of. Both bellhops were speedy, courteous, and very prompt. The cost per person and hourly time is very reasonable as well. There was a mix up when I got billed but everything was sorted out quickly which I greatly appreciate. One item for improvement would be a clearer check I and out process for paying. My bellhops and I arranged a 30 minute earlier time than I booked and apparently they couldn't check in ahead of time? So they had to remember to check out the time they worked after the appointment time started. That contributed to the mix up, but like I said earlier it was fixed quickly over the phone! Very courteous staff all around. I would recommend this service for anyone who needs help moving! read more

Bell Hop MOvers are a bad joke. We purchased a house and were offered free moving through the real estate broker. I know to be wary about anything FREE! We used bellhop and we got the worst moving experience in my life. The "movers" were untrained, there was no equipment (dollys, etc...) or moving pads. They ruined our $4000 refrigerator by dragging on the ground-----NO DOLLYS, NO MOVING BLANKETS. The driver hit the driveway gate and backed over a 20 foot tree in the yard. Absolute idiots!!!!! We have pictures to substantiate all the damage to our property. The Bellhop management told us to "TO BAD" it was free!!! DONOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

It's a trap-don't move with them. Almost 5 stars is definitely not accurate. My move was estimated to take 4hr. The crew arrived 820am and my move was only completed at 7pm. The distance of the move was all within 3 miles. It was a pick up in my apartment (1bed), pick up at my girlfriends and drop of at an apartment 1 mike away. They blamed the long hallway in my apartment for the extra time. Just my apartment itself took 4hrs to be loaded which is an absurd. On top of that they did a terrible job loading the truck so when I got to my girlfriends I had to re arrange the entire truck to open space. That was almost 2hrs. I moved several times before and it never took me so long. The original charge was 3x the estimated amount and after several calls I was only able to take the price down to almost 2x which is still crazy. Don't try to save a little because it will end up costing you a LOT more. read more

After lining up a solid job in Springfield, MO I had to clear out my storage building in one day and drive a truck from Houston to Missouri. Time was of the essence, and after shopping around online, I decided to give Bellhops a try. SO glad I did this. The two guys who came to help me - John and Dez - were early, hard-working, friendly, funny and smart. Not only did we clean out my storage building in under two hours, we managed to fit in a couple of good laughs along the way. The pricing was spot-on, timekeeping was perfect and the help was absolutely invaluable. If not for their help, I'm not sure I would have been able to do this move as quickly as I did. First and foremost, I can not reiterate enough that my Bellops, Ian and Demetrius, AND each person on the corporate side have been absolutely AMAZING. Through various moves in various cities over the last ten years, this by far is the best experience that I've had! I never imagined that by purchasing the Groupon that I would have such a personable experience with a "moving" company, but received just that. The emails are informative. The phone call was simple and courteous. Not to mention the music while you are put on hold is HILARIOUS! I did like the fact that the Bellhops team sends you a "Meet your Bellhops" email the day before you're scheduled so that you actually know who is meeting you at your new "home." Thanks to Ian and Demetrius for starting the morning off with a quick phone call about how things would work when my appointment began. The guys actually showed up about 10 minutes early and were super friendly! This is the worst moving service I have used. I had a very easy move from a one bedroom apartment to another one bedroom. They are 7 mins away. I had the boxes ready to go and already at the loading dock before they even got there. My only furniture is a coach, a tv, a dining table and a bed. It took them 6 Horus to move them and 1.5 hours to get from one apartment to the other (they said they were wrapping the couch) which I later saw unwrapped at the truck. I assembled and dissembled the bed by myself because they were sooo inefficient. Now the company wants to charge me for 6 hour 2 movers fee, which I don't only think that is insulting but also unprofessional. If you are ready to deal with the least effective movers and pay 900 for a 1 bedroom move, then go ahead. Please DO NOT use this company. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company. I had a move this past weekend, and the move was schedule for 10am. We hired two bellhops, but only one was on time and didn't want to start working until the other bellhop arrived. The second bellhop didn't arrive until nearly two hour late. Along with being late, he continued to complain that his wrist was hurting from the start. There was very little communication between the customer service and the bellhops. In addition, they were very slow. Three hours into the move, one bellhop that was actually doing a pretty good job had to leave to take care of another move. The one complaining of his wrist offered to stay, but we decided to just end the move there. Now we are left with several things to move. I was very surprised with there service with a company who has such great reviews. I would do more research on other companies. read more

I'd put a big fat 0 stars if it was available. The movers were lazy and showed up late to the final destination. The movers damaged my house and furniture. I sent in a claim for damages and they responded with sending another email with a supposedly form to fill out and it was never received. Due to COVID-19 and being laid off, this company is not willing to pay for damages done since I did not receive a form to fill out within the time they were supposed to provide it. I live in Houston, TX, and used Bellhops to help me move last month. I was moving to a different unit within my same apartment complex, so I figured it'd be a 2-hour job max. I did not want to get "professional" movers because their rates are higher (in the $110-$120/hr range), and every company I spoke to had a 3-hour minimum and a $50-$100 charge just to get out there. I found Bellhops on Yelp and gave them a call. What follows are some details (both positive and negative) of my experience: - Customer service is great. All my interactions were extremely positive, professional, and helpful. Super quick response by email, too. -There is only a one-hour minimum, rates are extremely good, and any additional time beyond the minimum is prorated by the minute. - Insurance is not included, it's an additional $30. To their credit, when I contacted Bellhops to file an insurance claim (scratches and minor damage to a desk), they promptly honored my request. Again, great customer service. - Bellhops do NOT have their own moving dollies, hand trucks, or carts. This was NOT explained while booking my service - I found out the day before my move when I texted my Bellhop to confirm the time and place and asked him about the equipment he was bringing (i.e.: none). I knew it was impossible to move all my stuff without a couple of dollies, so I had to rent them from UHaul at the last minute. I realize these are college students, not full-time movers, but if you're promoting your service as "affordable, handpicked Houston MOVERS" (verbatim from your website), you should make sure your guys have the right equipment for the job. - Bellhops were polite, on time, and got the job done. However, they were also MUCH slower than professional movers: last time I moved it took movers an hour and a half to move everything from the truck to my apartment, while it took Bellhops 3 hours to move the same amount of stuff to my new unit (and I was helping out A LOT). I don't think they were slacking off, they just lacked some of the skills of guys who do this for a living. Overall, I was pleased with Bellhops and might get them again depending on the complexity of the move. Even with the extra charges (insurance, dolly rental, extra time), I still paid less than what I was quoted by other moving companies. In my opinion, Bellhops fills a much-needed niche between finding random guys on Craigslist and getting full-fledged professional movers. I don't know if I can give Bellhops 5 stars as a moving company, but I can definitely recommend them if you need an extra set of hands. read more

The worst I have ever delt with and we have delt with a lot of movers. . Their hand truck had flat tires which is odd for being movers so they carried one box at a time. The job was estimated time was 8 hrs it took them 11 hrs and didn't finish the job cause it was getting late and they were tired, so they were going to come back the next day. When my husband called to tell them not to bother after we seen all the damage they did to the furniture. A broken curved glass on an expensive curio cabinet, a leg broken in half on an antique curio cabinet, a bunch of scratched up chairs , dressers, and tables, broken legs on some garage cabinets. They argued with my husband that we would get charged if they didn't come finish the job, of course we didn't let them and they didn't charge us. We then filed a complaint for all the damaged stuff, all we got was 600 dollars, that wont even cover the curved broken glass that now has to be replaced. I was hopping they would send over a furniture repairman, but guess they don't do that. It cost us 2300 in mover fees plus what it's going to cost us in repairs to our furniture. I would NOT recommend them especially if you have a big move with lots of heavy furniture. They are NOT professional movers. If I could give a minus star I would. read more

When I was in Houston one of the gentlemen didn't show up to help us move out of my storage. So Joshua was by himself and he and I got the job done! He was very nice and was waiting patiently for me because I got to the unit late dealing with the dummy at U-Haul! But we got it done and he was very cool about the whole scenario he didn't fuss about being by himself or anything and I helped him the best that I could! And then I was on my way from Houston and the guys in Fort Worth patiently waited for me to make it and got my things to my apartment it late in the evening which is rare on a Saturday! They were both very respectful and swift getting my things into my new home! I took them well because they were so patient and they had absolutely zero attitude! They communicated well keeping track with where I was on the road! Thank God for them both!!! I had a very rough day that day and they brought it back together in the end! read more
