I'm really enjoying my experience at Bellingham Athletic Club. I like that they have a pool and that you can rent a lap lane for an hour each day with the platinum membership. I'm doing personal training once a week with Rich which is going very well. He wrote up a very good program for me and I'm inspired to work harder than I have in about 15 years. Virtually all the group exercise classes are included which is very nice. I tried out the Thursday evening spin class which was very hard but the instructor, Melissa helped me modify it so I could keep on going. Would recommend. If you want extra swim time, I'd recommend coming in about 15 min before your appointment to see if there's anyone still swimming from the previous session in the lane you've been assigned. You can get 15 min extra time which helps if you're a very slow swimmer but want to put in many laps. read more

I joined because I can only exercise using the pool. Today I learned that I can't use the pool because it's family swim. I can't use it unless I have a child. The. Pool. Is. Empty. As someone with over eating problems, I particularly enjoy the candy and snack bar on the way to the locker rooms. Super helpful. read more

BAC is the Place to Be! Bellingham Athletic Club is the best gym in Bellingham, and here's why: They offer two locations; one of of the Guide Meridian (Cordata) and Downtown (off of Cornwall) with gym hours to fit your schedule. There aren't any parking issues! You can find a parking space without driving around in circles! Machines and equipment are available - no waiting to work out. And the classes - they are awesome with kick butt trainers and instructors! The staff is friendly, helpful, and make you feel like you're "friends" and part of the family. The building might be older and the equipment isn't brand new - but it all works, it gets the job done, and they truly have everything you need or could want to work out. It's a comfortable work out atmosphere and a place you want to go to work out and have fun. There are less expensive gyms out there, but there is a reason why this gym is so great; it's the members and the staff. read more

My 3 year old begs to go to the Kids Club here. He talks about their fun toys and awesome staff. I love getting to work out knowing that my 3 little kids are in safe and competent hands while I get to do my postpartum PT and work out after being pregnant for what feels like 4 years straight. It's even become our Saturday morning tradition. The facilities are great and there is something for everyone. I love BAC! read more

The better of the 2 clubs in town. This one has a pool, basketball court and racket-ball courts. They also have a daycare at this club. I like the equipment better here also. read more

Today was my first time at the club. I basically joined today and got a free membership until the first of next month, yet didn't have to pay a pennie for joining fee or any other fee's imaginable. Pretty good deal eh? Although the space seems old ~ it definitely has everything you want. Starting from a cardio room and ending up with sauna and pool. It is definitely family friendly space and senior friendly as well. The only little problem is a price point itself. Gold membership (which is the cheapest one) is $48 before taxes. I get it, the place has a lot to offer, but it's a bit old and yet $48 is more than most of what other places ask. But I will give it a try. Not that big of a deal for me, especially since I had a chance (today) to join for free. Might update my review in the future. read more

BAC has a great selection of gym equipment and space, (tons of free weights, machines, mats, sports equipment etc.) and that's probably one of the best things about this gym. You can do heavy cardio one day, swim the next, and upper-body weights on the 3rd day; tons of variety for such a small gym. The locker rooms are fantastic as well (I've only been in the men's) with complimentary shampoo and other bathroom items if you forget your stuff; the downtown location even has lotions, mouthwash, and shaving cream. Saunas are a huge plus and this gym has them too. One of the big drawbacks though is the high price-point. I haven't run across too many gyms that are more expensive than BAC and that's really a bummer. I was shocked to find out that my student membership, (which was more per-quarter than the one at my college) didn't even include complimentary towels. I still had to pay the 50 cent fee to use a towel. All in all, this gym is still pretty decent but if you're on any sort of a budget, steer clear. read more

I took a hiatus for the summer, then without my consent (they let you go on hiatus for a minimal fee to keep your membership ongoing which I was fine with). and billing for the month is on the 1st . low and behold they take a full $139. 50 out of my account on the 20th of the month!!! I was hoping that I could get a membership for my special needs clients here as they have a very broad broad range of activities to offer, however this was the only gym in town that required the care giving staff to pay for a membership to allow him to have help exercising. I think this is a slight to the community as well and saddens me that while they have so much to offer they chose not to help special needs or disabled clientele, I would suggest taking business elsewhere to a gym that wants to see the community thrive, not just make money. Honestly, it's the best gym in Bellingham. No other gym has the equipment like them in this town. Sucks they're not 24/7, but that's okay. Awesome staff, with great attitude everyday I come in. I would recommend this gym to a friend any day. read more

If you are into racquetball this is the place to go. Tue, Wed, Thur and Sunday's you can always find a game. If your not then give Boot Camp, Ripped, Pilates or Jazzersize a try! read more

My husband and I are really pleased with the equipment, the hours, the staff, the locker rooms, the classes, a place for my husband to wait for me that has coffee and the paper.. There's a pool for soaking in the locker room and sometimes I can talk myself into going just thinking of that hot pool! I know it's a little pricey, but at this point it feels like a good investment in our health. read more

I do not reccomend this club at all. Nothing gets fixed ever, hot tubs are always breaking and the pool has algae and mold in it. The owner covers up sexual harrasment and does not take good care of the facility. The only good thing about the club is the some of the staff are nice. read more

My husband and I joined a gym today, but it wasn't this one. We toured a few in the area, and I would have thought that this gym would be the winner since it has so many amenities. I was wrong. The place is pretty worn down and smelly. The worst was the customer service, though. The girl that gave us our "tour" may have been new, so I don't fault her completely that she didn't give us much of a tour, and that she didn't seem very interested or helpful. She basically just walked us around and said there's the pool, courts, weights, and cardio. There didn't seem to be any interest at all in us being potential customers. I've lived in a lot of different areas, and normally I hate the high sales tactics of going to a gym. There was definitely none of that. In fact, there was nothing but indifference. There was another lady at the desk, who did not acknowledge us. She was condescending to the person that gave us the tour, and I got the impression that she was training her. read more

We used to visit BAC- Meridian facility since last 3 years for our son swimming classes. Today we came to know that they do provide special rate if you visit more than 5 years. Upon asking to place our name in system as we are going to continue for next few years , lady at the front desk (Britney) refused to give any details further. We asked her to check the record of last year and year before. But not only she refused to check record history but behaved very badly and refused to provide any details. That was a shocked to know. On the first place they should have informed customer but she hide it and when we came to know from other family she declined that we have ever attended before. I would not give more than one star due to their customer service and rude behavior of Britney. read more

I was sadly disappointed the gym is old and filthy. I found the child care terribly neglectful and uncaring. Never employ a mean lady as the manager of the front desk, it is frightful.. plenty of nicer gyms in Bellingham, I just need a clean and thoughtful environment. read more

Would be a good gym, but then there's a sewer smell in the shower rooms for the pool area. When I brought it to the managements attention, they said "it's the city's problem". It's unbearable . Then they said, it's only bad when it has rained. I've found that not to be true. Also, if it were a city problem, the other locker rooms would be smelling too, but they don't. Seems like they could be putting just a little bit of the outrageous amount of money they charge to be a member, back into the place. The people at the desk are great though. read more

We had my daughters 5th birthday here. Let's just say, it was such a complete failure I would give it negative stars if I could. We bought a package for a few hundred dollars to swim and do activities with a coordinator (who did a great job). We sent out invitations to her class and our family, and it ended up being about 20 kids and 35 adults. TWO days before the party I get a phone call to confirm the details, and the coordinator said that we would be charged $8 dollars per adult who came after FOUR people. I was very upset and talked to the coordinator, she said that this wasn't the first time it had happened, and negotiated a "deal" with us for the extra adults (a few hundred dollars!) I called the owner, Cathy Buckley, afterwards with my concerns and she was less than gracious, saying that so many bodies "interferes with gym members" I replied that I believed she was intentionally cheating and misinforming customers. She then agreed to refund the extra money charged saying she had "better character than that". After I believed all was settled she wrote a letter saying she would NOT refund us. I will never go back and support such an awful business woman, truly disgusted in her character and business practices. read more

Family Friendly, This place has been great for our family. We signed up for a family pass and my husband goes there on his lunch break and i'm able to bring my kids there and work out no problem. some days i go to the downtown BAC and its great there too. Lots of equipment, always clean, never too crowded. The day care is fantastic, especially Tiffany, my kids are super shy and i've never felt comfortable leaving them at a day care but Tiffany makes the transition very easy and it is SO nice to go workout and not worry about if your kids are having fun or not. On fridays the day care gives the option to go swimming and they have other kids classes during the week that the kids can go attend without parents. The pool is nice and i can workout then take the kids swimming. The locker rooms by the pool are a little outdated but its not a big deal. I've heard good things about the group classes that are included in your pass but haven't tried them yet. It's worth the cost. read more
