Lovely little family-run Italian restaurant with a cozy atmosphere complete with pictures on the wall of the Italian grandmother. Nice bar with big selections. Huge banquet room available upstairs. This isn't a fast food restaurant, so be prepared to wait a bit on your food. This was the worst nightmare ever. Being a network producer, I am currently making calls to feature the experience I went through. Last Thursday, we waited 1 hour and fifty minutes for our food. We were at the first table to the right of the front door, and it was close to pitch black dark. When my steak arrived, it was cold. I turned on my iPhone light to see what I was eating, and if the steak was cooked properly. I was also recording the experience on video ...... When the light came on, the clump of body hair was right ther under my steak. The waiter was standing there to see it, as well as my clients....so this was a live on video event. The waiter offered another, and said it would take 5 minutes. He brought it back, and, even after the 2 hour wait and the hair, and the cold steak, we had to pay for it. The idiot of a owner was scared and would not come out of the back to say anything to us. I have called the state, local and federal health officials, the BBB and the local media about this joke. I will not go away, as this place is a dump and needs to be shut down. By the way,the others at the table ordered blackened fish, and it was burnt..... The waiter was awesome, yet you could tell he had practice covering up for his evidently horrible boss. And, in perfect fairness, the alligator entre' was great, as well as the steamed parmesan cheese broccoli. However, Run from this jerk. He is a disgrace to humanity and his food skills stop at boiling a pot of water. By the way...he is a coward as well. He cares nothing about you or your health....whatsoever. I can only imagine how much his parents cried for their failure when he was born. One more thing...if you own a facility and need a great waiter, the one we had was simply great. Easily the best Italian in Alexandria. Does that make it great.? No...but the lasagna is very good and the featured filet is always nice. Marinara is a little sweet for me. Compares favorably to Verona. read more

This has been one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had the misfortune of enduring. A very unattentitive wait staff paired with the longest wait time for entrees on Earth. The restaurant attempts to distract its patrons from the hell that this place is by the darkest room possible. The food did not make up for the wait. Bland and blah is all I can say. The entire table of 8 was upset. It's overpriced. Under delivered. I wish the worst for this establishment. read more

Do not waste your time & money at this restaurant. There was a 45 minute wait & the bar area was full so I asked the host if he could text us when our table was available. It was much too cold to sit on the bench outside so we decided to wait in the car. He was hesitant & had to ask a waiter if he could do that. The waiter said sure. Our table was ready at the 45 minute mark & our server was very pleasant. We ordered the new artichoke dip which was not warmed through, had a bizarre lemon flavor & was not as good as their spinach artichoke dip of the past. My husband ordered the $34 a la carte ribeye with the $6.95 broccoli & the $7.95 Caesar salad which also had lemon flavor. The ribeye must have been an end cut because it was tough & overdone. Not what you would expect for a $34 steak. The broccoli was the tastiest item of the night. Even the butter served with the bread had lemon in it. YUCK! I ordered the crawfish Alfredo which had a fishy smell & taste so much that I could not eat it. The waitress asked if it was okay & I hesitantly advised it tasted fishy. She apologized & immediately offered to get me a new entree' but I declined because I had a few bites of steak & was fine. She stated she would remove the entree' from our ticket which I thanked her for. She later returned to the table & set a to-go bag on the table next to my daughter-in-law & walked away. We were curious so my husband opened the bag & saw it was the fishy crawfish pasta. She also dropped the ticket off without saying the manager refused to remove the fishy tasting dish. After several minutes passed, I let her know we did not want the entree' & said she could take it & remove it from our ticket. She returned & said the manager would come speak with me. You could tell she was very embarrassed. The manager, or chef, proceeded to advise that he & the kitchen staff tasted the crawfish & determined they were fine so he would not remove the entree from our ticket. WOW!! I was in shock at his arrogance & advised that we would never return which he said that's fine. Of course I paid the $105 ticket (for 2) plus tipped the waitress because this surely wasn't her fault. By the way, we had no alcohol & only one beverage. Needless to say, that was a wasted $105 I'll never get back. How extremely rude of the manager/chef to treat a customer in this fashion. We did not say one word about the other food failures & only wanted the one fishy dish taken off. I guess he was offended anyone would send one of his dishes back to the kitchen. Oh well, lesson learned! We will not be returning. read more

Very good experience. The Italian bread provided with butter herb spread was very good. I had blackened tuna primavera and my wife had lasagna. Both were excellent. I've been eating here occasionally since they opened and always come back. read more

Have dined here several times. The food is okay but the service is often slow. Last night we tried to order wine but our first 2 choices were not available. These were not hard to find wines and there is a wonderful liquor store less than half a mile away. That was minor compared to the over one and a half hour wait for out food while we watched other diners come, eat and leave. When we complained we were publicly confronted and embarrassed by the owner/chef who angrily shouted that he was doing the best he can and if we didn't like it we could leave. No apology whatsoever. Will NEVER dine there again! I'd like to give it zero stars but the app won't allow it. read more

The food here was exactly what I felt should have rested on my palate. I was hungry and ordered a Chicken Fettachini. This was was after going through the first two items I wanted, of which they were both out of stock. The waiter here was excellent and served with promptness. Even the cheese sticks before the entree were very well filled with cheese. The ambiance was quaint, to the extent that the noise level in the front of house would have been comparable to the background noise in an old classic movie. The space was very dimly lit but the storefront did open up opposite the side of town the sun sets on. My guest had to switch seats and they were constantly managing some combination of shade and curtains at the front of the house. Our food did finally come after a moderate wait period and it was absolutely scrumptious. On top of that, the waiter was very attentive despite both of us having a water to drink. Food was great, service was good, and environment was ok. A little pricier than most but the food is wonderful. We will be doing this again very soon. read more

I've only eaten here once, but I loved it. We went on a weeknight and it wasn't very bust. The atmosphere was very cozy and relaxing and out waiter was very attentive. The food was also delicious. I had a blackened shrimp salad and it was delicious. Not one core piece in the salad and the shrimp were huge. Their drinks are also well prepared (and strong). read more

My husband and I moved to Alexandria from Dallas and I have to tell you, I really wanted to like this place. I am not a fan of chains so we were looking for something more authentic. Lord help them they try, but they just miss the mark for me. We ordered garlic cheese bread thinking it would come with a blend of italian spices and cheeses. We received bread with no garlic and melted cheddar cheese on top. If I wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, I could have made one better at home. The lemon chicken with capers is like ordering capers and lemon with a side of chicken, way too overpowering. This is much the same for the rest of the dishes. It's like the cooks just threw together a bunch of so-called italian recipes and don't have any respect for the balance of those ingredients. This is just so way underpar for what you pay. Oh, and the wine is soooooo overpriced and they don't give you a full glass. Waste of money. read more
