This is a nice clean property with good service. They offer complementary coffee and tea throughout the day, and there is a restaurant on site. There is also a shuttle to/from the casino that starts at 5 PM. I rated it a three because the room accommodations were very dated. The bathroom was oddly designed and the shower was barely large enough for one person. For the rate of the room, I would've expected better accommodations. However, the design of the lobby was very nice!

the room was clean and looked nice. Customer service was great. The only downside was the small indoor swimming pool.

You walk into the lobby it's updated it's kept up you walk into your room and it's the OPPOSITE, picture grandmas spare bedroom from the 80s. INCLUDING the musty basement smell. We assumed it was the humidity kicked the ac on and the bathroom fan and left for a few hours....when we returned it was bed time and that smell was still there. We just dealt with it for the night unknowingly it wasn't musty it was mold and I became sick for 2/3 days after. We found the mold in the room that was painted over the next morning, will post pictures. The toilet screams, like moaning mertyl in Harry Potter and if it isn't your toilet screaming it's someone else's that sounds like a helicopter is landing in the parking lot. I have yet to mention the peeling wall paper, the lack of cleaning in the rooms, the wet sheets or floor or the absolute shit show that is the staff. I was in the room directly next to the 24/7 staffed lobby at no point did anyone come out because people were outside yelling all night. At no point did anyone come out due to the banging on the second floor. I talked to 2 staff members and my girlfriend talked to the manager, at no point has anyone taken accountability for the situation. At no point has anyone tried to rectify it. The Second Gentlemen came to the room and told us we were liars I'll post the pictures and you decide. Save yourself the disappointment. The health dept has been notified.

And a free shuttle to/from Foxwoods Now the reasons why there are no more points: - the rooms: thin walls and ceiling, strange noises during the night (maybe a nearby compressor), a bed in a metal frame that made pinging noises when you moved while sleeping. And the worst- the smell! Some kind of musty smell, maybe a cover up for old cigarette smell. The smell was so bad we brought air fresheners which didn't help. The smell permeated everything we brought into the room- clothes, luggage, bags. I had to wash, clean, aerate everything when I got home. - and the advertised "deluxe continental breakfast" did not exist. The breads were stale, no yogurt and the y hot food was make your own waffles. Other than some cereal, that was it. Definitely not deluxe

When you walk through the front door, you are greeted by artwork, books, and a parlor off to the right. There is a baby grand piano, tuned and ready to be played in the parlor. I just loved all the hand painted details by a local artist. It is a cozy, happy room. Walk straight through the front foyer and you enter the dining room which has coffee, teas, and water available 24/7. There was a plate of cookies on the table that were home made and out of this worldA scrabble game was set and ready to go. A well rounded breakfast menu was posted and you can order whatever you like, all home made including the granola. I am gluten free and Josephine was so accommodating. I even discovered a new GF bread that I thought was better than most I have tried. Josephine has a talent in the kitchen to say the least. Everything was delicious. There is a lot of local information on where to go and what to do. OK- now, the Mermaid Room This is not a large room but it has everything you need (including a little fridge) and the hand painted walls are an absolute study. To think one young lady produced all that art, a talent to be admired. There are 3 more rooms upstairs but I wanted to be on the main floor. I found the location perfect. It is not on the main drag so it isn't noisy but just walk a couple of blocks and you are right in the middle of downtown Mystic with all the glorious restaurants, cute shops, and a drawbridge over the Mystic River. 100% charm. See how many mermaids you can count‍. I will definitely go back. I would like to go on a river cruise next time. I am recommending the Mermaid Inn to all my friends and family.

At over $615 per night, we expected a much better experience\. When we arrived, the toilet in our room was broken\. It took approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to repair, during which time we couldn't use the bathroom or shower before going out to dinner\. The bathtub also wasn't draining properly until we finally figured out a way to get it to drain ourselves\. In addition, the refrigerator wasn't cold on the first day\. We had actually called ahead to ask them to make sure it was turned on because we experienced the same issue during a previous stay\. The next day, we returned to the room to put our baby down for a nap and found contractors installing new carpet directly outside our door\. The constant hammering and nailing made it impossible for our baby to sleep\. We asked if the work could pause for just an hour, but we were told no\. The only solution offered was to move us to a much smaller room where the only bathroom was located inside the children's sleeping area, which wasn't a practical option for our family\. The staff offered us a bottle of wine as compensation, we declined\. We then asked if there was another way to make the situation right, such as adjusting our room rate, but the manager said no\. We've always enjoyed staying at The Whaler's Inn, which makes this experience particularly frustrating\. Maintenance issues can happen, but multiple room problems, disruptive construction during the day without accommodation, and the lack of a meaningful resolution left us feeling that the value did not match the price we paid\.
