The front desk made sure we knew we could call for anything we need. Later on, it was enjoyable talking to Penny at the front desk while I waited to go into the on-site restaurant (La Plage) for lunch, and she was incredibly sweet and informative of the surroundings area. The room itself was impeccably clean, well-lit with warm lighting, and the housekeeping team clearly pays attention to the little details that make a hotel stay feel next-level luxurious; the bathroom amenities were also high-quality and the shower was superb, nice and hot. And then the view! We were able to see up the Mystic River from our room, which was so serene and enjoyable; perfect for enjoying a coffee or getting a little work done at the table, whatever your need is. When it was time to check out, it was very windy and cold, and Harry was able to use the hotel's VW electric van to escort me to my car in the parking lot, which was deeply appreciated. He stayed to make sure I could get my car out of the lot (since it was just that snowy and slippery) and when my car was having a hard time reversing out of my spot (FWD in the snow), he helped to get me un-stuck. I couldn't recommend staying at Delamar Mystic more. Even though everything was closed and the weather wasn't cooperating, simply staying at the hotel itself is an enjoyable experience.

When you walk through the front door, you are greeted by artwork, books, and a parlor off to the right. There is a baby grand piano, tuned and ready to be played in the parlor. Walk straight through the front foyer and you enter the dining room which has coffee, teas, and water available 24/7. There was a plate of cookies on the table that were home made and out of this worldA scrabble game was set and ready to go. A well rounded breakfast menu was posted and you can order whatever you like, all home made including the granola. I am gluten free and Josephine was so accommodating. There is a lot of local information on where to go and what to do. OK- now, the Mermaid Room This is not a large room but it has everything you need (including a little fridge) and the hand painted walls are an absolute study. To think one young lady produced all that art, a talent to be admired. There are 3 more rooms upstairs but I wanted to be on the main floor. I found the location perfect. It is not on the main drag so it isn't noisy but just walk a couple of blocks and you are right in the middle of downtown Mystic with all the glorious restaurants, cute shops, and a drawbridge over the Mystic River. 100% charm. So happy that he found this hotel. When we checked out and were about three hours away from the hotel, we realized we left my daughter's favorite blanket in the room. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but this was a huge disaster! I called the office and Al said that he would go look for it, he called me back, found the blanket and actually took time out of his life to mail it to our house. I noticed a BBQ grill outside, which I think can be used by guests. There is a common kitchen and dining room table for guests to share. The bathrooms are a little bit small, however, that is part of the charm. The ONLY downside, IMO, was the walls are a little bit thin and the beds are a not the most plush. This is a minor inconvenience for such a great value and location, location, location to everything Mystic has to offer. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and couples.
