Despite being super busy, they are able to have a relatively fast turnover of tables and they accommodated us with a short notice reservation on a Friday evening. All the food was amazing and I could not criticize anything. The restaurant was very busy with a lot of people, but it was not Overly noisy. The waiter provided some excellent recommendations and we were happy with everything. The quality of food was amazing considering how busy they were. Kudos to the chef. +.5 for service I think it's safe to say this is the best Italian restaurant in Winnipeg. I hear about Harth as well, which also works as they're both the same owners! I went here with a friend a couple weeks ago, as I was saying about how I wanted to try authentic Italian food. This place is an institution that's been around for over 20 years. It's not extremely upscale, but it's a comfortable dining environment. I went with the carbonara after I saw the ingredients in it. An authentic carbonara consists of spaghetti or linguine, guanciale, eggs, and a special kind of cheese. No cream, no milk, no garlic, no onions. This was exactly what I got with this carbonara, so I can confirm it's 100% authentic Italian. It was absolutely delicious, and the prices are very affordable for the quality and authenticity you get. I added a lemon meringue cheesecake. Pretty good, loved the design especially. Given the combined total of under $40 including tax and tips, this is very reasonable for an Italian dinner. Service is excellent. I'll definitely return. read more

My daughter and I stopped in after a long day of driving, not realizing reservations are recommended. Even with our faux pas, we were seated within five minutes of arriving. We started with the baked Brie and could have been satisfied with that it was so scrumptious. She had the Aragasta and I opted for the evening's pork loin special. Both were amazing. Save room for dessert as the tiramisu is one of the best I've had. Service was top-notch. Jenna was our primary server and was very personable. When she learned of our travels, she took a couple minutes to make recommendations for the remainder of our trip. We appreciated the extra effort! Will definitely return if we are in the area again. Highly recommend! Hands-down the best meal of our trip. The restaurant itself is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall. Inside, it's classy & elegant. Two of my girlfriends and I just returned from a lunch that was a winning experience. Our waiter, Jennifer, did not rush us to order, which is always important to women when they get together). One friend had the carbonara, while the other had the scampi. Both throughly enjoyed their pasta dishes. I ordered the hot honey pizza, which I was skeptical about because of the level of heat there may have be in that dish. Jennifer came back from the kitchen with a sample of the meat so that I wouldn't be disappointed if I ordered it, which I thought was very thoughtful. A nice place for a semi-formal dining. The foods are good... serving style and food decos are great!! We had an eggplant appetizer (can't remember the name, it was that day's special) and Vitello Limone (Tender Veal). The quality and preparation deserve appreciation. Servers are very friendly and the facility is kept rather clean. I once saw the owner walking around drinking beer and talking to customers and staff alike. His wife manages the front of house and his son manages the kitchen. The food is fresh mostly, I couldn't help but notice all their "fresh" pasta seemed to have a frost burnt taste to them. Overall it just seems like a normal family run restaurant that tries really hard to pass off as something its not, which is fine Italian dining. This is a family restaurant aside from the wines, bitters and such. If you want over priced frost burnt food I'd just go for McDonald's to get right to the point. read more

The sodium level for pastas on some days can be high but for the most part, I have to say their food is pretty good at the prices they are offering it at. It's even better when you use their $5 off coupon (for take out orders over a minimum amount). Their calamari ($11) is still fantastic! Tender calamari with a great aioli. I also love the pane fritto ($7), they are described as deep fried "fluffy pillows" of dough that's tossed with garlic butter and parmesan. That stuff can't be good for you but I love it! It's like carb overload but the tangy tomato dipping sauce that comes with this appy really makes it! My fav pasta dish is the "pasta carciofi" ($17) - orecchiete pasta with chicken, spinach, onions and artichoke hearts in a garlic and white wine sauce. I love any pasta with artichoke hearts and this has to be one of my favs. Great clean flavours - simple and delicious. Bellissimo pizza ($20.95 for 15") is topped with strips of prosciutto, mushroom, tomato, green pepper and basil pesto. Good flavour and it's not greasy at all. I really liked the California pizza ($20.95 for 13"), it has seasoned chicken breast slices, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, garlic, red onions and cheddar cheese. Good flavour and the toppings really complemented each other. There's also a Monday night special - chicken parmesan with pasta marinara with side house or Caesar salad plus some garlic buns for $14.99. The chicken parm was on the salty side and the chicken was pounded really thin. Interestingly, the tomato sauce on the chicken had a bit of a kick to it so I'm not sure if they added too much pepper flakes in mine but I liked it! The pasta was cooked al dente and served with a good simple marinara. The Caesar salad is very garlicky (which I love) but you may not want to choose this if the person you're dining with isn't eating it as well. Good overall place, moderate pricing and has something for everyone. read more

I always loved coming to this restaurant. It was always the place I wanted to have my birthday dinner at with my family. But, I was sadly disappointed yesterday at my birthday dinner. They changed the menu which took my favorite dish away but not only that my back up dinners were gone as well. Now most peeps might think this sounds funny but really it isn't when you are limited to what you can have due to allergies along with medical issues/medication conflict. The service is always great along with the chefs who definitely know how to cook. But, the menu is hard to understand if you aren't Italian. Plus, I don't understand why you would delete popular selling dishes. Anyways, as long as this menu stays the way it is I sadly have to say that I will be forced to have to find a new favorite restaurant for my "birthday" dinner and meals. read more

Excellent food with friendly and attentive service. I went with a group and we shared calamari to start between five of us - which was the right amount. It was perfectly seasoned with very light batter and aoili dipping sauce on the side. We all sampled different pasta entres and everyone was pleased with their meal. I had the best side casear ever (very rich dressing). My main was Prochuito Con Fichi, which included linguini, excellent pesto sauce, creamy feta, grape tomoatoes, figs and prochuito. SO good. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Creme bruele for desert was delicious. Great atmosphere and perfectly timed meals for our whole group. Service was top notch! read more

Very dissatisfied with lunch today. I Was looking forward to Lobster Macaroni and cheese which I have ordered in the past and was excellent not the case today as it was excessively greasy and not cheesy at all - contained more chorizo sausage than lobster which seemed non existent shall we call it "Chorizo Macaroni and cheese? For 18.00 I could have had a much better lunch elsewhere. Tried this restaurant based on reviews. Not sure if was off night but our experiences wasn't 5 star by any means. Hubbie had the fettuccini alfredo with caesar salad - he was not impressed. His pasta portion was small. I had the gnocchi boscailoa with house salad - I enjoyed both and my portion was larger than his??? We dined in the lounge - the bartender was obnoxious and crass, the wait service was inattentive and poor. We will not be returning. read more

Went there with my wife and stepdaughter on a whim today. We were meeting her for lunch near her job, and Bellissimo's seemed like the better choice of area fare. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and when she asked if this was our first time, we said yes. She explained that everything was done to order and that most every component was from scratch, including the sausage. When she said that, my choice was obvious - Salsicce, with a Ceasar salad lead. My wife had the chicken club, and my stepdaughter had the same main as me. The salad and bread came quickly, and though the mains were a little slow coming out - they were worth the wait. My wife loved her sandwich and yam fries, and the salsicce was wonderfully seasoned and with just the right spice kick. The best Italian sausage I have had in years. The waitress had initially forgotten my soda and gave it to me for free... so all was forgiven. We will be making it a regular destination in the future. read more

Came for dinner here with local friends. Very nice ambiance, friendly staff, nice menu., We shared a bruschetta, and I had a Caesar salad with anchovies on the side. Didn't see linguini with white clam sauce on the menu. I asked my server if it was available, and she said they would accommodate me. It was very good, with a nice chianti. My friend John had the Vitelo Parmigiana with spaghetti and Kim had the Pesce Asiago which they both liked very much. We will never go back. We were with a party of 16, and as soon as we sat down to look at the menus, the waiter started to (very forcefully) tell us to hurry up and order, because there was another large party arriving very soon. He reminded us of this at least 5 other times during our visit. We did not feel welcome or wanted at this restaurant, and we constantly had the waiter lurking around trying to rush us out. The food was pretty good, but certainly not worth returning for with that kind of insulting service. When we asked for the cannelloni to be packed up, the server slapped it into the container and didn't even bother to transfer any of the sauce over. When it came time to settle the bill, the unfriendly waiter complained that he "wasn't made aware of this before-hand". Well, we didn't have a chance to request separate bills, because he was too busy trying to chase us out of the restaurant the whole time we were there. read more
