I hadn't been to the movies in a while and I had never been to this theater. It was kind of rare to find it since so many cinemas have gone out. It is a nice little place, a good assortment of movies to choose from, an excellent selection of candy and of course popcorn. It has many attractions for children, games, candy and toy machines etc. It is especially friendly to seniors with special discount on Tuesdays and Thursday. We went on a Sunday and I was surprised that the cost of the movie was so reasonable. The chairs we sat in were very comfortable recliners with enough space that your could actually recline and with a place to put your drink if you purchased one. I was told that there is a party room upstairs as well as a bar but I did not visit there. They also sponsor children's parties since a large group of kids were leaving one theater as we were going into another theater. The staff was pleasant and the place had a nice vibe. There is also adequate parking, I would recommend and will return. read more

It's been 8 years, this theater is still here, and I'm changing my review. Despite the comments of others, I have still not had a bad experience at this theater, the concession prices are fair, they show independent films and there's parking in the back. Everyone knows about my personal 3-check system: 1) quality of concessions; 2) availability of parking; and, 3) showing of independent films. Sure, theater cleanliness, staff attitude, ticket pricing, etc. is essential, but I find most theaters can't satisfy the checks that are important to me: Bellmore Playhouse does. Given this, I want to support this local business before it ends-up like Seaford Cinemas, Malverne Cinema, Merrick Cinemas or Roslyn Theater. read more

This theater needs major update in the seating area of the theaters. How dare they charge crazy high price per ticket that other new, large theaters charge for broken, worn out seats! Moved our spot several times (as theater was empty) and each seat we tried was broken. Will not go back. read more

Attended a boys party at the theatre. The person who booked the party paid extra for cleanup, yet the manager still complained about the theater being unkept. Worse, the manager was disrespectful and confrontational, getting in the face of the person hosting the party. blaming her for the mess. Completely unprofessional behavior, especially around kids. Several guests were there to witness the craziness of Laurie, the manager. She escalated the situation with her smirking and nasty uncalled for comments.....It was a VERY disappointing experience to witness this...I would NEVER recommend having a party there. One hostess for the party with the help of the person hosting the party....just terrible. The manager needs to be removed or go to managerial classes. No frills local movie theater - great prices compared to the big chains and being local, it's amazing to have so close. They've upgraded their recliners recently, but you can tell they've been well loved since - of note they do lay flat. Popcorn is popped fresh and you never have to wait long. They also have a bar upstairs, but I have yet to visit as I'm usually with the kids. They also throw birthday parties, and when the kids get older, I'm sure we'll be utilizing the playhouse for birthday parties. They're in walking distance to many of the restaurants on Bedford, so would definitely make for a date nite (if we had that chance) Love having them here! read more

This is a nice local theater. its not overly fancy but its generally nice to visit. the one serious complaint is that for a while now all movies appear very dark. Even the outdoor scenes look like they take place at dusk. Perhaps the equipment needs to be updated. read more

$6.00 Tuesdays are a great deal. I guess you get what you pay for. The reclining seats were in really bad condition, mostly worn out with many ripped. I was really surprised since this Bellmore shopping district is really happening. A major problem I experienced was when I reclined my seat to the max, the seats in front of me blocked my view. The screen was small, but big enough & the sound was excellent. Still a good buy and half the price of the big chain movie theaters. A seat upgrade should be in the future. Friendly staff, the seats were replaced and are now reclining. The problem is that not too many people go to this theater so the popcorn was quite stale. We went to a 10pm movie on a Saturday night and were the only people in the theater! Price is better than classier theaters and it's local so next time I'll bring my own snacks. read more

Went to this theater and wasn't too happy with the staff. I had two people give me a hard time one guy never said hello to me and then had the nerve to pretend he did when i know that wasn't true. Then I complained to the manager and then he said to me I'm blowing it way out of proportion why not just tell me next time i come in I promise whoever works here to say hi to me. I mean all I ever ask is people to not judge other people and to understand just because someone looks or acts a certain way doesn't give someone at work to treat a customer like garbage. Warning...do not used any website to purchase tickets here. I purchased 2 tickets for a 730 show 6 hours prior. I get to the theater and they told me "sorry...sold out". I showed them my purchased tickets and was told again "it happens a lot". Wasted a babysitter and $25. Do not use dealflicks either. Update...went back to see Thor. Employees very nice. Multiple incidents of pure incompetence The only good thing about Bellmore Playhouse is it's spacious, $6 Tuesdays, AND they sometimes play non-traditional/indie movies that other theaters don't show THE BAD -You can't use the groupon on their discount Tuesdays, but it never says that on the groupon.. -Managers and theater supervisors SUCK. There was a theatre literally below 0 degrees. Everyone in the theatre, including myself, went up to the managers and complained asking to raise the heat before the movie started. It was never fixed. Wow. -Concessions People: Besides the blatant racism to ignore and serve me one time, the kids who manage the concessions are completely unprofessional. I wish I could give zero stars to the terrible management. Sold too many tickets and would not refund us for food or tickets. they thought it was ok to split up a 5 and 7 year old to sit alone. Went on Wed night to see the worst movie ever Midsommar. THe theater is very small itself like maybe 50 seats they have the reclining seats but not as fancy as AMC ones. No heaters etc like the really nice theaters have but whatever it'll do. I went to see the 7pm show and of course some goblin had a birthday party that ran late and we all had to wait till they cleared out and then the poor staff had to clean up all the shit they made a mess of. I was at the 6PM showing of Evil Dead Rise today. This was my first, and probably last visit. I rarely, if ever, leave a review or comment, but this was by far the worst experience I've had going to a movie. I had pre- purchased my ticket and figured i could just walk in, scan it & get to the theater. No. There weren several unaccompanied kids trying to buy tickets. This must have been the first time out without their mommy there to do everything wipe their @$$. As I was waiting on line, there was a group of 5 or 6 kids, easily 14, trying to get tickets to either Evil Dead Rise or Pope's Exorcist. They were arguing with the person at the booth selling the tickets who told them they needed a parent or guardian to give permission for him to sell them tickets. Fine. The kid gets somone he claims to be his mother on speakerphone to give him permission, all the while the man selling tickets is telling them they're holding up the line. He scans my ticket and then without any parent/guardian being there he takes the word of whoever this kid called and sells them tickets. Then as I get into my theater there are a bunch of kids, I'm talking 8 - 12 maybe a couple are 14. They're shouting back & forth at each other, putting their flashlight on, playing music, and at one point, throwing stuff at another group on the other side of the theater. Someone must have complained before I had the chance b/c a security guard would occasionally come in and walk through the theater. As soon as he either left or went to the back, it would start up again. I could hardly pay attention to the movie. It was very distracting & the ones that were causing the disturbance should have been kicked out. Absolutely horrible experience. I'm thinking this isn't an isolated incident because when I left, the lobby was full of more underage kids acting the same way. I went here because I heard the theaters were nice and small & it was significantly cheaper. What I sat through was a horrible reflection of how this place is run. I've never had an experience that even comes close to how horrible this was. Judging from most of these reviews, its for @$$hole teeny boppers to act like @$$hole teeny boppers and that's it..not wasting my $ here again. read more

Really really awful every time I've come here it's crowded with teenagers and always talk during the whole movie I've experienced it 3 times now expecting to not have the same issue the next time but it's completely ridiculous a manager has to go into a theatre repeatedly to tell kids to be quiet during a movie playing. Non the less it's small the screen quality is bad and the movies aren't loud enough to drown out the sound of kids talking the whole time. Never going back. read more

Went to see a movie a few days ago. It was clearly a rated R movie. There were a lot of kids in the theatre unaccompanied by a parent, so they were somewhat rambunctious as to be expected. The prices are reasonable, and seating is decent, albeit not as plush as AMC, but it's a great theatre to visit if you are just wanting to catch a casual movie. Screens are a bit smaller, so if you're an IMAX person, I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

bellmore playhouse is the worst theater i've been to in a while. this place makes amc and regal cinemas look like a dream. small and crowded theaters, no parking. i ordered tickets through fandango and reserved 2 seats for an 8:30 showing of elvis. the show was suddenly changed to 8:15 and theater was also switched from 7 to 5, leading for seating arrangement issues. no signs were posted and no warning was given for the switch. i talked to several employees including what seemed to be the manager about a refund (for a movie that i didn't get to watch and payed $20 for) and they said they were unable to give me one. had to contact fandango and i explained their policy, no refund after movie has started (which i'd like to remind you was switched 15 minutes earlier to an 8:15 showing) so there is "no possibility of refunding". the issue didn't look like a big deal to anyone, very rude employees and bad customer service. will not be returning to this theater anytime soon read more
