In all my years coming to NSB this is a hidden gem. From the moment we were greeted until we left it felt so welcoming. Started out with mussels.then salad.then the braciole and husband had chicken picata. The braciole was one of the best even better than my own homemade. I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time and finally had an occasion for the two of us to head down. Greeted very warmly seated in a great spot waitress came and was very personable told us about the specials. We ordered a couple drinks and the calamari and it was most excellent. Took a little bit for the entrees to get there veal scallopini and one of the specials a short rib ravioli that was excellent. Here's where the issue comes we finished and it was crickets, no one came by, no one offered dessert, no one cleared the table. We finished our drinks, drank what water we did have as there was no refill offered and I think they just forgot about us. They weren't that busy. Finally we got up and asked to get our check from one of the other servers. Very disappointed in the service but the food is way above part of any Italian I've had in this part of Central Florida. Our appetizer was pear shaped mascopone cheese dumpling with a triple-sec sauce (5), Shrimp and Grouper francais (4), Caesar salads (5), and New York and Pistachio cheese cakes (3). Everything was superb! We went there on Tuesday, May 2. It is the first time in New Smyrna Beach that we found great Italian food that equals and even sometimes surpasses the food we get in NYC. Bella our server was wonderful and we loved everything we ordered. Best calamari and the Chilean Seabass special couldn't have been fresher. And I cannot even begin to describe how fabulous the desserts were. Will definitely be back again and again and again. First off the bruschetta was delicious. The arancini was absolutely delicious. The Italian wedding soup hmmm the broth & little meatballs were good it had macaroni, corn & green beans. Italian wedding soup does not have corn or green beans or macaroni. It starts with a soffritto then chicken escarole or spinach, ACINI DE PEP & stracciatella. Your soup was not Italian wedding by any means. So very disappointed in my meal the cannelloni was spongy there was barely any filling in it. I had the lasagna and I thought it was a little dry but still tasty. For dessert we got the homemade Pistachio cheesecake!! Yum!! Service was awful. Our waitress was completely absent. I ordered glass of wine and she never brought it to me. All the pasta dishes were swimming in sauce. They put cheese in the clam chowder. The soup was very watery, not creamy at all. last night was our 17th wedding anniversary and we chose Bella Valentino's for dinner. They took reservations which is a plus and when we were running late, they said don't rush and we will change it to 7 see you when you get here. we didn't feel like we upset anyone and we felt very welcomed. We got there and immediately was greeted by Paula (who we found out was one of the owners) and she told us all about the place and the special features that her husband and staff would be creating tonite. Once we sat we were not only greeted by the server who took our drink order but brought fresh bread and bruschetta to the table. (soo good by the way) The wine was terrific and let me tell you what else was. The shrimp appetizer, the Pear pasta purses and the escargot. (There was four of us, relax lol) But then came our entrees. I had a taste of everyone's and they were all amazing but mine was the best. I had the eggplant and shrimp parmigian. Holy smokes it was yummy!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We ended up hanging out there for a total of 3 hours, I mean we literally closed the place down but not before dessert!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had tiramisu, and two others I can't remember but what I do remember is that their 80 plus year old mom makes all the desserts and there were like 10 or so options. Yum yum yum and more yum. We ended the evening with espressos and more wine . We had more amazing conversation with Paula and the staff (her family) and then we finally made our way to the car. Long story short we will be back time and again! Amazing place for dinner if you are looking for great food, romantic and cozy atmosphere with the friendliest staff ever‼ I have never been treated so well at a restaurant before and if there was a 6th star to give I would give them six because it was really that good. This little gem is off the beaten path but well worth the journey! We were craving traditional Italian non-foo foo, fare and this did not disappoint. We had the calamari for an appetizer. The breading was light and crispy and the calamari perfectly cooked. The accompanying marinara was fresh and tasty. We ordered Linguini Con Cozze, Linguini Con Vongole and the Tortellini Carbonara for entrees. The portions were HUGE and everything was delicious. The mussels were the best we had in the area...large and plump and full of flavor. The tortellini was TO DIE FOR but be warned it's super rich. We chose Caesar salad as our accompaniment to our meals. They were fresh and crispy and the homemade croutons and freshly shaved parm were amazing. I prefer a creamier, bolder Caesar dressing but it was still tasty. Yum, yum, yum! The servers were attentive, super friendly and didn't steer us wrong with suggestions. I really really really wanted these positive reviews to ring true. My experience did not coincide with what I've been reading. Let's start with the decent. Our wine was good...not that the restaurant had much to do with that. The Gnocchi was decent. The filet mignon "special" was asked to be a baseball style "very thick" 8 oz. cut cooked to medium. It was relayed back that the cuts were indeed very thick. Uh, no. Kind of reminiscent of a steak you'd get at Denny's. It was a really poor, thin cut cooked to mid well at best. Really bad. That was the good part. ***as well, looking at a past menu that was posted as a picture on this YELP site has the filet with onions and Gorgonzola priced at $28.95. I was charged $45.95.*** The Braciole special was disgusting. It tasted like they took old as hell flank steak and tried to overcook the stink out of it. No filling in the wrap to speak of. A true embarrassment to Italian cuisine. I don't know what the big deal is about this place. Maybe it was a bad night. Understaffed? Kitchen help under qualified? It felt like both. I discovered this place on yelp. It was excellent. They start you off with bruschetta and baked bread. the menu has a wide variety of traditional pastas, plus many fish dishes. You can request any dish and change the meat to chicken or seafood. I had the Lasagna($16). It had a meaty sauce that was sweet. It is a good portion size. It comes with soup or salad. I had the salad that was romaine, but only contained the white pieces. Next time, I would try the soup. I also sampled my cousin's cannelloni dish that had freshly made noodles with spinach in the noodle. It is stuffed with cheese and more spinach. It is topped with a delicious creamy sauce. I preferred this over the lasagna. Everyone at our table was pleased with their meals. They come around with a dessert tray. So many options.....we had the coconut ice cream(served in a real coconut!), chocolate covered chocolate cake (yum!), coconut cake, chocolate covered chocolate cheesecake, and the BEST was the pumpkin/cannoli cream cake. It tasted like Thanksgiving! I will definitely return to this restaurant. If you pay in cash you get a 10% discount. read more

Why have I waited so long to stop and try this place⁉ Arrived soon after opening on a Saturday afternoon; was seated promptly by Kinzie...? Had water and fresh bread delivered tableside instantly along with an amuse bouche, which was a small bruschetta with house marinara. Which was fantastically fantastic for something so simple. The "toast" was so light and airy and the marinara spot on, simple with just a touch of acidity to get the gut going. (Cafe Genovese should stop by for a lesson for their Sicilian pie). Bella aided us through our meal with a charmed efficiency, making us feel like regulars; which I shall soon become! We opted for the Caesar salad as our meal's first course. It delivered with it's garlic forward dressing and large shavings of parmigiana tossed in fresh greens. Fresh ground pepper on demand. I'm looking forward to trying their soup next visit. For the main, my friend had chicken Alfredo, me, the tortellini carbonara. I'm anti Alfredo anything myself, it's her mainstay, and she said it was great, with it best if tossed periodically while eating. I tried it and thought it tasted like any other Alfredo anything I've had to suffer through. Now, let's talk carbonara, friends. They use tortellini as their pasta and the sauce has a rich, slightly creamy sauce which finishes with just a touch of flavor from the Guanciale ham which is present in small tender pieces throughout. But that's only half of it. Because about half of the tortellini have some of that same delicious, tender, smoky Guanciale stuffed inside! WHO DOES THAT?!?! They do. It was pretty, pretty good! Dessert is offered old school continental style with a dessert tray, showing a sample of each of tonight's temptations. Good luck deciding on about a dozen offerings. Coffee was strong Italian and finishes off a wonderful dining experience at quite possibly the perfect hidden gem and best Italian restaurant in Volusia county(only time and repeated visits will tell...). Amazing! We dined there while in Port Orange visiting our Grandson and his family. The food and service were fantastic. Even though the restaurant was busy we were seated as soon as we arrived and never felt rushed. The timing of the appetizers and salads to the main course was perfect. I had the lasagna and my wife had one of the specials. I would put the lasagna up against a family recipe that I have been making for many years. Our server was always at our table just before we knew that we needed/wanted something and otherwise left us alone to visit. I wish I had room for a desert. They looked great. If we lived in the area Bello Valentino's would be on a short list of places to visit regularly. read more
