It was definitely made in house and was delicious. The service was great as it was very busy and the staff handled all of our needs and flipped tables very quickly around us. Italian date night tables, a giant oven surrounded by mountains of bread and roasted garlic, a stage for a live musical act, a huge beautiful bar, and wall decor that would keep the American Pickers interested for hours and hours. Service was excellent, too. Everyone we encountered was very nice. Our server gave us excellent service, kept the drinks flowing all night long, and paced out our apps, mains, and desserts at a very appropriate pace. Every tables gets started up with a half of a crusty baguette and a plate full of about a dozen roasted garlic cloves, mashed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. There aren't many better complimentary apps on the planet than this. Wow, really stunning. We ordered an app I can't find on the menu anymore. A delicious bone marrow dish with thicc, crispy, chewy baguette chips, and a sweet fruit chutney that was very decadent. Big fan. I main dish was the Cioppino (a hearty seafood stew of shrimp, scallops, lobster, clams, mussels, calamari, and fish sautéed in a tomato saffron broth with fresh herbs and seasonings). I can't explain just how deep with flavor the broth of this cioppino was. It shone with glistening oils, specks of spices and seasonings, flecks of allium. A very nice broth full of perfectly cooked seafood, and plenty of it, too. Even the calamari wasn't over. Very impressive. I recommend. I also got to try the infamous Bocce Ball (oven roasted 16 ounce filet mignon meatball served with marinara sauce topped with shaved parmesan cheese and served with linguini). This thing was insane. It was not functional. But it was delicious. Literally a marinara linguini topped with a massive meatloaf that tastes like filet mignon. The meat-to-pasta ratio was massive, so if you like meat, this is for you, and if you like pasta, ask for another serving of it on the side. We finished off our meal with a slice of carrot cake. Very dense, very moist, very packed full of pecans, and sweet sweet. I loved it. You might love it, too. Overall, we got in line right before it opened, and there were only two of us, so we got seated right away. But even if we had to have waited for two hours, it would have been worth the wait. I can tell why this place is the crown jewel of New Smyrna. I would love to come back.

We started with the fried calamari, burrata, meatballs, Cesar salad and octopus. They did not have the octopus carpaccio on the menu but they had a grilled octopus so we said we would try it. It was a bit chewy- I've had way more tender at other places. It could also use some char marks. The meatballs were small and although the menu said served with ricotta and Parmesan- the amount of cheese on top was sad. The meatballs were good and the marinara sauce is delicious. The Cesar salad was awesome. I loved the croutons and the side of anchovies. It was perfectly dressed and not too much cheese. The burrata was delicious; a little pesto on top with a lot of arugula and a huge heirloom tomato. The calamari was pretty standard. My husband said the calamari was too chewy and he did not enjoy the octopus texture at all- leaving his chewed bite in a napkin. My folks seemed to not care. The bread they serve with the oil and balsamic is delicious. It came out hot from the oven. Wow. I had the lasagna- it's a small serving but I was already full. I took a couple bites. It was good. I like their bolognese sauce. We had the three specials- the lobster and seafood fra diavolo, the red snapper and Shrimp on linguini with the white wine tomato sauce, the tomahawk veal chop Parmesan w linguini. Everything was so good. The snapper was a large portion- looked like only 2 shrimp but there were 3-4 more underneath the fish. It was a light cream sauce. Very good. The tomahawk veal was enormous. You can't tell by the pic because the plate is a huge platter. They said it is 16oz but to me it looked like 38oz. It was really good. The lobster fra diavolo they made not spicy for my mom which is amazing because they were so busy and they really don't take custom orders. But she was very happy with the not spicy sauce. The lobster I was afraid would be overcooked because I feel like everywhere overcooks them, but this place did not! It was tender and not chewy. So all our entrees came out perfect. The owner was around- he's the one who brought me salt and he brought some of our appetizers. He was very helpful. For dessert I had to have the cannoli. They fill them fresh, I know it because the shell was so crispy. We also had 3 martini specials- the key lime pie martini, the pistachio martini and the tiramisu martini. All were good. The key lime was different than most restaurants - more tart and less thick. The tiramisu martini was everyone's favorite. Because of that, we got the tiramisu cake to go! It's circular and not from a sheet cake. It's very pretty and tasted really good. We got one bite before we bagged it up. Our server did a great job. She was pretty new. We told her what we loved, including the bread- and she went and bagged some up for us to go! Wow! Great service. My only complaint is the mix up on the wine. The house Chianti is what I ordered. I may or may not have gotten that, but I was definitely charged for something else. I expected $16 and instead it was $28. I probably should have complained but we otherwise had a good time. I will mention it the next time I go there.

The restaurant also needed a serious cleaning. The ceiling was disgusting, and the wall decorations were covered in dust. To be fair, our server was great. Unfortunately, there's only so much a good server can do when the kitchen is producing food this bad. Everyone at our table left plenty of food behind, and we threw the leftovers in the garbage outside. I felt sick to my stomach for the entire ride home. The prices were completely unjustified, and the restaurant gave the impression of relying on tourists who may never return. If you think I'm exaggerating, read the other reviews. This was such a delightful and delicious dinner. My family and I went to eat there for the first time and it was truly amazing. The bread is out of this world and so is the bruchetta. We ordered a few appetizers as we do anytime we go out to eat, and they were the beginning of what more wonderful food was to come. For appetizer we ordered calamari (which we have had at other restaurants) but this calamari was by far the best. For dinner my husband ordered veal sorrentino and my children both ordered the chicken isabella. Our service and the wait staff were very friendly and accommodated to our every need. Even though we were full from the tasty dinners we decided to order 2 desserts to go - and I wish we had ordered more because they were so good...the tiramisu and the pistachio cheesecake. The atmosphere is so mellow and you are able to actually have good conversation with your family at the table. The owner came to check on us a few times and asked if we needed anything; as we saw her do so with all the other tables...that really impresses me because you dont see that happening anymore at restaurants. We definitely recommend this place and its one of our favorites! read more

This is a great example of a traditional family-owned Italian restaurant. We are so glad we found this little gem here in New Smyrna Beach! We have had dinner at many restaurants in town but none compare to this restaurant! The bruchetta bursting with flavors and the wine selection is all I really needed but I insisted on eating dinner as well! My Chicken isabella was honestly one of the best dishes I have ever had! You can actually taste the quality and time spent in their dinners. The service matches the food, simply great! The soft music and the lighting makes for such a romantic dinner, what more could you want? I rarely every order desserts because I am usually to full after dinner, but I went ahead and ordered dessert this time and I am so happy I did. Their cheesecake is honestly too good to not want to take one home, and that's exactly what I did! We will definitely be back here more often now that we know what we get! BRAVO! read more

We have been eating here for 10 years! This place is wonderful, and so is the service and the owners. You get free bread, free bruschetta, free soup or salad and you get a side with your meal. Nowadays restaurants charge alacart for everything so for the price here and all the extras you get IT IS COMPLETELY worth dining here! Never again!!!!! This is the 3rd consecutive order I have…read moreordered and been totally wrong! 2, I have picked up, and this one I had delivered and blamed on delivery service! No solution to complete this current order because, it was delivered! Was told I would get credit (which oh I really don't care about) but the woman who is supposed to be the managers first response was, when I asked to talk to the owner was, "The owners never here"! So, just like the 2 previous orders, in which I picked up. NOTHING is being done! I'm done with Luigi's! This is the meat lovers calzone I Picked up! Before that, I ordered a pepperoni pizza, got there was cheese. Was told if I wanted to wait 20 minutes, they would make me a new one. Why is all of your screw ups my fault??? How many more chances do you give a resteurant ? Whoever I talked to said, you should have called me! I don't even know who you are! Never again, you have lost a dedicated customer over your lack of concern and arrogance!

We recently dined in at Stavro's and it was a completely different and wonderful experience than…read moreour take out experiences - the restaurant was not overly busy however we did arrived about an hour before their posted closing time. We have attempted to eat here several times in the past few months but the parking lot was packed full and people were standing outside the door while waiting to be seated so we chose other options. After being seated immediately we were greeted by Ms Gay who has been working here for more than 26 years, she is a wonderful person and an exceptional server. She doesn't miss much and is quick to make you aware of any specials or discounts, tonight beside ordering one of the best Greek Salads you'll ever eat I was planning to order a small pepperoni pizza when she made me aware a large pizza was half price tonight and it would be cheaper than the small - it goes to show the integrity of the employees here. The Greek Salad was amazing as always and the pizza was really good, crispy as we ordered with plenty of toppings which made me very happy and definitely a reason to update my review - I won't commit to not ever ordering take out from here again but dining in was pretty special, the staff the food and service would likely make a short wait time worth it...

Lunch came to $39 before tip, including a Diet Coke and water. The food was good, and I'd give the taste an 8/10. However, I was hoping for a little more of a "wow" factor, especially in the presentation. I'll admit I'm a tough critic when it comes to Italian cuisine because of my Italian background! Overall, Positano is worth a second visit. Next time, I'll try something different and see if I find that extra-special dish. Our server was attentive and did a great job! The same sauce was used for dipping the mozzarella sticks (tasted very frozen), the calzone, and the spaghetti. My wife used most of a container of parmesean trying to help the flavor. She said the parm was even off.
