It's been a few years since my last take out order because we weren't overly impressed. Heard some good things about the new owners and the remodel. Went on a Sunday evening and wow has the place changed. The interior is completely remodeled and an outside dining was added. Not packed but the inside was busy and the vibe was positive. To true Italian style the service was attentive but not pushy. Food: ordered the Sicilian pie with pepperoni & sausage. Toppings are ample and the dough was cooked to perfection, light & crispy. We split a main of chicken parm and substituted vodka sauce with rigatoni. All cooked just right. We had a pleasant experience celebrating our friend's birthday here. Our server was fantastic, I didn't catch her name but she was from Sardinia, which gave the experience a very authentic feeling. Great food, great service very nice staff. We ate there 3 times just in the first week we were here. Some of the best pizza anywhere, especially in New Smyrna Beach, and we grew up on Brooklyn pizza. The owners are Italian and there constantly seem to be Italians eating at the restaurant, which is always a good sign. All dishes we have had there ranged from good to excellent. We order take out a lot and get told 40 minutes and then get there 50 minutes later and are usually told another 10 min. This place is very good. Many of the servers are from Italy too. I went two weekends in a row and both times ordered the veal Marsala. The first one was better than my second visit, but still good. I tried both their gnocchi and chicken soup (yummy) and their chicken vegetable soup (pretty good). I wanted to love the eggplant tower, but it needed more flavor, probably balsamic layered throughout would have been better. We shared a 12" caprese pizza, it was good but I think margherita would have been better. The desserts that I tried were all good. I think I liked the lemon tiramisu over the pistachio. The maritozzo tasted like ones in Rome and was very good. The pistachio cappuccino was good, but I didn't like the flavor of the paste used around the cup. So I'd recommend a plain one. read more

It looked like everything on top of the pizza was an afterthought... and I mean everything from the red sauce, the cheese and at $3 a topping and adding 4 toppings you would at least expect that there are toppings on all slices and et all . The food was OK, but they really need to do something about the noise level. It's the loudest restaurant that I think I've ever been in. You can hear so many loud conversations and plates clanging. Me and the wife have been here couple of times food is always good, so I decided to order out when I called I ordered chicken wings I was interrupted in a very rude voice "this is vesuvios we don't have chicken wings" k then I ordered a chicken parm sub which I ordered before will eating there. When I got the food home my salad was poorly made with brown apples on it, the chicken parm sub was made with chicken fingers not the hand breaded chicken it usually is the pizza was great but to be rude on the phone and because it's a takeout order doesn't mean you take short cuts point of story is don't order out and if I was ever talk to that way when I'm seated if would be a whole different story. read more

Unfortunately I can't give feedback on the food because I was unable to order any- although the menu was promising. While there were multiple employees gathered chatting at the entryway and multiple FOH staff behind the bar, when I requested to have drink at bar and order take out, I was seated and no one came to provide service. This happened despite a conversation held in front of me about who was going to "be her server." Staff using the POS in front of me did not make eye contact or ask me if I needed something. If you have ever seen any of my reviews before then you know my two little boys are pizza obsessed and at this point I would say they are pretty good judges of what is good pizza and what is not. Both of them give two big thumbs up so congrats on that! And the parents are going to agree with them because this place has everything you could want in a local Italian restaurant. Great service and big portions! Wow. You HAVE to try the spaghetti and meatballs... they are splendid!!! So much flavor and enough to take home and eat for the next day (at least I did). One of the worst Saturday night dinners we've had in a long time! I gave two stars because we got seated right away and we've had some really good meals here previously. But now we think there was no wait because things have really gone south here. We really used to look forward to coming here. The server was not very experienced. We ordered a glass of wine, waters a side of ice for the wine and decided to try the eggplant tower appetizer. We asked for a side of oil and vinegar to go with the eggplant tower. And, they have battery operated lamps at the table, and ours was out. The server noticed and said she would get us a new one, but never did. She brought us water and came back abiut 5 minutes later with the glass of wine, but never brought the ice, never brought the lamp and never brought the oil and vinegar until we asked again. We normally get entrées here but decided to go with a pizza tonight. We ordered the chicken Parmesan pizza. The eggplant tower came out in a reasonable amount of time. It was three pieces of frozen fried tasteless eggplant layered with three slices of not ripe tomatoes, and three slices of very bland fresh mozzarella cheese on top of a sprinkling of Arugula lettuce. The server said it woukd be a mixed green lettuce .We were happy it was arugula, but it was basically just a sprinkle of it. Definitely not a $15 salad! The eggplant had no flavor except for a fried and crunchy taste. Then the wait began for 1 large pizza. There was a large party to our left, a 4 top to the right and a large party finished up, got cleaned and about 20 minutes later another 8 top got sat. We watched the large party to our left get their appetizers and entrées and then dessert and then the party to our right got appetizers, garlic bread and we still had only our appetizer. When we saw the 2nd large party get appetizers, my husband got up and asked at the front if they could check on our pizza. He was told that pizzas take 45 minutes! He asked why they would not tell their guests when ordering that a pizza would take that long?! We still waited about another 10 minutes, which was probably about an hour to get 1 large pizza. When they delivered the pizza, our eyes got very wide because the pizza looked like someone took a can of tomato sauce and poured it on top of the pizza. There was a sprinkle of chicken that was diced on top and hardly noticeable, but mainly we got a sauce pizza with a little bit of cheese. I scraped the sauce as best I could off the pizza. It was still a sauce pizza. No one came back to ask how it was. We finally asked a passing server if this is really how they serve a chicken parm pizza. She said it looks like a lot of sauce. I asked if we could get some spaghetti for all this sauce. (Trying to make light of this obviously ridiculous pizza that somehow was able to leave the kitchen and be served). We each had 1 piece and the rest was just sitting there. The server finally came back to see if we wanted to take the pizza to go! We then told her how terrible it was and that had someone come and told us # 1 it would take 45 min for a pizza and # 2 asked us how everything was after a few bites maybe they could have corrected the problem. The server did ask if she could get us another pizza to which we laughed! And, wait another 45 minutes!? The manager on duty was leaving as we were paying and said was everything good? We said actually no it was our worst experience. She stopped for a second and said sorry. But it was too late. They didn't end up charging us for the pizza. This earned the 2nd star. Had we not said we shouldn't have to pay for this, it would have been 0 stars. All around, we hope there are some opportunities for learning here. Where is the management? Why wouldn't they let guests know a pizza takes 45 minutes? Servers and managers need to learn how to handle guest issues without making the guest feel like we did something wrong. Really disappointed. We have had many really good dinners here but see that things are going backwards with no leadership on site. Maybe this is fine when 99% of guests are tourists and may never be back. In lean times when there are few tourists, us 1% locals keep things alive. But we'll go where we feel valued. We know sometimes it is an off night at any given restaurant. When no one notices or cares, is the difference of us being regulars or the silent, never to be seen again guest. Where do I begin? My parents and I are Italian, so we know how it should taste, and this simply wasn't it. The sauce was too sweet, and my father and wife simply did not like the pizza at all, plus it was lukewarm when it came out. It says moderate noise, but this felt like a cafeteria at a middle school. The decor changed from a year ago, and one noticed a few things; it felt like too many tables were crammed in, and based on the look and taste of the food, it felt like a culture change took place, like a quiet change in ownership. If you're looking for a cauliflower crust pizza that doesn't leave you crying over a soggy mess of toppings this is the place! The menu only has it as a margarita pizza but you can add toppings, my dad did mushrooms and pepperoni. The crust has a great crunch almost like a well baked thin crust, definitely not the soggy messes I've experienced with other attempts. They use their toppings properly in that it's not smothered so the crust integrity holds up, and they use GOOD cheeses so you're getting all the flavor despite less topping. We had the sautéed calamari appetizer with kalamata olives and capers in red sauce which was excellent in every way from the tenderness of the calamari to the excellent pairing of sweet sauce with briny flavors. I had chicken piccata which was cooked perfectly from the "cut with a fork" chicken to the tender fettuccine. My only complaint was that it felt like mine needed a bit more salt either on the pasta or in the sauce. I did get a side of marinara just to sample (I'm a judge of red sauce) and it's a bit too sweet for my tastes but had good flavor. The space is cozy but trendy, like an Italian courtyard with wine barrel accents and a Vespa at the front. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely be back to try some of the amazing looking salads and a real crust pizza soon. Also bonus points for any restaurant that leaves me unattended with a jar of cheese! read more
