The prices here are unbeatable, and the service is very good! I came in for a haircut and color correction, because my hair was two shades of pink and neither of them was what I wanted. My first appointment took a very long time here, because my hair was long, but they mixed several colors and tested them to make sure I'd get exactly what I wanted. When we finally finished and my hair didn't take again, they wasted no time in booking me an appointment to come in again and fix it for free! Also, my cut was perfect, and my stylist Autumn was super sweet and easy to talk to. The atmosphere is very lively and kind of loud, but everyone is friendly and it was fun to people watch. They make sure to have the client happy and the instructors were really good at making me feel comfortable with what my stylist was doing. Though I don't think I would come back for hair coloring here, because my hair wouldn't take the dye they had, I would definitely recommend coming in and getting a cut or something. I know when I go short, I will be coming back here, where hopefully I can have Autumn do my hair again! read more

I'm not sure who is answering the phones at this location for Bellus Academy at the moment but she was incredibly short and rude with me. I asked about their weekend availability, considering that their automated system states that they have Saturday ability, and she cut me off to inform me that they do not have weekend availability and "haven't been open on the weekends in years." That's all great and fine, obviously I will make an appointment when they ARE open and available, but there is absolutely no reason to be snippy and ride with someone for simply informing you that your automated message is clearly outdated then. I have had a wonderful experience here previously, so for someone to speak to me that way on the phone-- in addition to not knowing terminology used by other hairdressers in their salon or looking up my customer account to see what I'm talking about-- I was just very put off by this experience. read more

got a microdermabrasion facial from hannah n. initially i was a bit intimidated by the whole process of microdermabrasion but hannah walked me through the entire process before we started the actual facial and reassured me that this process will be completely painless. although microderm isn't usually seen as a the most relaxing type of facial, i felt relaxed the entire time. my skin immediately felt softer and less dull. i'll be coming back to her for more facials in the near future! read more

I followed the Groupon trend and yelp high rating location. I booked for a facial, it was wonderful. The student who did my facial did an excellent job, I came out with moist, glowy skin. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come again. Just one downside, other students kept talking really loud while I was in the middle of my facial, and as I was about to doze off into sleep someone's phone rang, even the students that was working on me was annoyed. The supervision staff is great- I felt like my hair was safe and in good hands. Every time I've gone the student working on my hair has been great. But it's so hard to get past their reception staff! Part of it is limited availability-- which I understand. But half of the time I call the lady is really rude and acts like I should have their schedule memorized. I don't think it's posted anywhere and half the time they have some sort of special thing going on so it's different than what it would normally be anyway... so why be rude about this? read more

I got this on a Groupon and I can't say enough about the microdermabrasion facial she gave me. She explained everything about the facial. I have had a couple of them before from a woman that was terrific, but Brianna went further than that. Besides the wonderful facial she gave me (what a difference in my old face), my arms and neck were massaged with some very nice cream. When it was over I ended up buying some great Wella products for my hair. The ONLY drawbacks was the other employees, they were loud on both sides of the walls and took away from the beautiful music and relaxation at the time. This school is tucked in the corner of a small shopping center, on the right of a Big Lots. Parking can be a challenge at this time of the year. When I walked into the school there was a young lady and man sitting behind the receptionist desk, both employees, having a conversation. Neither bothered to look up and great me when I walked in the door and up to the counter..they continued their conversation for about a minute. Then the girl asked me if I had an appointment and handed me a paper to fill out. When I turned in my paperwork she told me the name of my stylist and said she would be with me shortly. I waited in the lobby for about 5-10 minutes and girls from the school started coming in for class/appointments, at which time my stylist walked in a little late. When she came in the receptionist told her that her 5:30 appointment was in. The girl deffensively told the receptionist " I don't have an appointment. I have to study today, I don't have any appointments today" with an attitude and loud. The school master walked over and told the girl that her behavior was unacceptable, especially infront of clients and to get her shiz together and get ready to take a client. I was about to walk up to her and tell her not to even bother, either get another girl or I was going to leave b/c obviously I didn't want some brat hacking my hair off. I continued to wait another ten minutes and a very nice girl (not the I don't have appointments girl) came to cut my hair. She was very nice and did an excellent job. The entire process took long, between waiting and the haircut I was there over two hours. While there I noticed the girls working on their own hair on the floor, putting in extenstions, and having personal conversations. The school seemed very laid back and not as professional as other schools I have been to. Overall, I got a good haircut, liked the stylist-didn't like the school and the unprofessionalism. read more

I admit to committing a box dye crime against my hair. Like all women everywhere I fell for the models on the hair dye boxes that smiled back at me, as though to say "you can be just as happy as I am for the low price of $9.00!". I decided to go blond and for several months I maintained the color on my own. I was quite proud of my work, at least I was until I paid a visit to Bellus Academy. Initially I fought it, but Jessica Maxwell insisted that my hair needed a professional touch, so I finally caved under her admirable persistence. Damn did my hair need rescuing. Have you ever looked back at old photos of yourself and thought "oh god, what was I thinking?". Well, despite it only having been a few months since I first had my hair professionally done, I am already feeling that way when I look back at my hair before Jessica. They put me in front of the mirror and forced me to open my eyes to the uneven coloring and lovely tumbleweed-texture mane that I had created. I have now gone twice and the poor girl has had to do major damage control. This last visit she went a little lighter than what I had initially wanted, but since then I have had major compliments on my hair! She even made light blond somehow work for me. I see a great future for this girl. She is attentive and the persistence she applied to getting my unbelievably stubborn ass to come in is the same persistence that she applies to my equally stubborn hair; she never lets me leave until I am 100% satisfied. Sorry that I look pissed in the picture. It wasn't because of my hair, it was because it is physically impossible for me to look like I am happy about being awake at 5am. read more

The only con is that the parking situation makes me a little nervous because of the one hour parking spots and they have to share their parking with a couple of other stores. read more

I was recently referred by a friend to see Shelby Lago at Bellus Academy. I was a little nervous because its a school, but it was a fantastic experience! It was easy to make an appointment and the staff was very friendly. I wanted to get a natural, subtle balayage but I don't know a ton about hair and coloring and all of that. I came in with a few pictures and Shelby took care of the rest. She really guided me through the process and made sure I was on board with the plan. She was super friendly, easy to talk to, and the time passed quickly. And the final product was perfect!!! It was exactly what I wanted. I had a great first experience here with Yvonne. She was thorough and when it didn't turn out exactly how we planned they redid it for free. It was a great deal and I was very happy. Just went back and had Natalie. She was very nice and gave me the color I wanted. What sucked is that I had to pay more than what I paid to have done before. Charging more for long hair is stupid especially when all they cut was an inch and didn't get all of the layers. If I knew I'd have to pay extra I would not have gone here.
