I had been taking the train to work since my car was in the shop. I transferred to a different train at Roosevelt and one day I was early and hungry and remembered there was what I thought was a Chinese restaurant right outside the station. I mosey into Belly Bowl and see that it isn't necessarily a Chinese spot, but an Asian eatery encompassing Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean cuisine, plus delicious Asian beverages. I chose the Mongolian Beef rice bowl and it came out pretty quickly. I've eaten a lot of Mongolian Beef in my day and this ranks as one of the best. My bowl was filled with a generous portions of tender, flavorful beef with lots of broccoli and rice, very much in proportion to each other. I hate half the bowl at the establishment and packed up the rest to enjoy later. This meal was very filling and a half portion held me over until I got home 8plus hours later. It was a great midnight snack and SO delicious, I stopped again a few days later to order another one. Really, each day I go to work, I have to force myself to not make a pit stop to grab an order because actually I get free food at work and it would be fiscally irresponsible to get it as often as I want. I ordered for pick up tonight after a friend mentioned their food was good. It's really easy to order in their website, I think it's through ChowNow. I ordered a taro milk tea, crab rangoons and the veggie inari. I was pretty pleased with everything I ordered. It was also prepared really quickly. They have a lot on their menu. I'll probably ordered again to try one of their bows or noodles. I only ordered appetizers tonight because we had dinner elsewhere. The inside looks fine and there's lots of tables. Came here for a quick lunch after the flight, located in a busy area of Chicago, it's a small little restaurant where you can place your order at the counter or a kiosk and they special in bowls, fried rice, small sides and even some sushi. The kicker though is they make their own teas and they come in a super cute container. Also love the logo. We made the mistake of ordering here the night of the black pink concert. While I usually don't mind a wait, there was no communication to anyone on the delays. We had waited 45 mins before I was able to get the attention of the guy at the front to give us a refund. On a side note, I have been to their Halsted location a few times. Small cute nicely lit spot and clean and well maintained on the inside but the food is really mediocre and bland...Damn near uneatable I didnt try any Boba tea and maybe this is where this place shines because I noticed alot of folks on the inside drinking Boba teas. This review is for food alone....I got chicken katsu bowl and orange chicken bowl along with chicken pot stickers...All of it was pretty horrible. Not even close to being say Panda Express good...Ive had frozen Chinese from the grocery store that was better. Potstickers were over cooked, dry and salty...Orange Chicken was gummy and mushy with no crunch and flavorless (I couldn't taste anything resembling orange flavor)....chicken katsu was a mouth full of salt and one note and mushy as well...Broccoli was over overcooked in both bowls and green mush...And the sauce on the l chicken katsu was poorly done and I've had tons of chicken katsu im my lifetime...This was the worst katsu I've ever had. Btw mushy seems to be the theme of this spot...Even the rice was nice and sticky aka the way it should be but also cooked mushy...When you can't get rice correct you're done as an Asian restaurant. Who knows maybe I caught this place on a bad night or something but judging from how these dishes were so badly prepared I would never purchase any food from this place again...Next time I will try the Boba Teas and see if they're any good. The one star review here is because the prices are pretty fair for today's market and the place is cute and clean inside and out but honestly I would rather pay a few more dollars and get food that actually taste good and is enjoyable. Let me get the best part out of the way: a cute little automated robot drove over to our seats and delivered our food! So adorable! But that cool dining experience aside, the drinks are delicious and the food (especially noodle and rice bowls) are not only so tasty but also have SUPER generous portion sizes. This place was pretty good. I did get a noodles with tofu and a side of rice. The rice was very small but overall it was pretty pretty good. I like that I was able to use a kiosk to order cause I hate talking to people sometimes, so this was great for introverts that don't wanna, talk to someone while giving their order it was kind of busy in there cause it was a concert going on so I think people were eating prior to them going to the concert but I didn't wait long. Had belly bowl on our first night in Chicago and we had to go back before we left! The crab Rangoon was 10/10. The shrimp tempura 8/10, could have been more crispy but tasted great. They kicked us out at closing time and we were not able to finish our food. We just got off a 16 hour flight and went to grab some quick dinner. After a bit of a wait we received our food and were eating it at a speedy pace, because we were hungry and too tired to talk. I walked in extremely happy to try this new place as the menu looks amazing! But they have to do something about the homeless that are sitting in there not eating, just taking up space and stinking. I walked in and noticed a bad stench and after 2 minutes of being in there I notice a man making really loud noises and then he started drooling and then started throwing up everywhere. This man was clearly on drugs and shouldn't have been allowed to sit in there. It is right next to the CTA Roosevelt stop, they need security to clear this issue up or no one will step foot in there.
