I hate to give this an "all or nothing" type of rating but honestly I feel this place took advantage of me. My impression of this place is being "all show." I paid literally several hundred (over $500) for treatments that insurance doesn't cover, that, when switching to another center that doctor recommended a $15 over the counter treatment. It seems that the doctor is selling her own products that she produces and doesn't use conventional treatment which would have been nice to know up front rather than being told these are things I have to do to save my eyes. Also, I'm in agreement about the late arrivals to appointments from some other reviews. There was more than one time I had to wait over an hour for my appointment. One of those times the doctor waltz in after I had been waiting over an hour. Nobody notified me she wasn't even there and nobody apologized for my wait. Lastly, I requested my records be sent to another doctor months ago, I filled out all the paperwork. The doctors office never received the documents. While they office did thorough work, it seems like there are quite a few sales tactics being used here rather than giving the information for various forms of treatment. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. They full on take advantage of you and your insurance. When my contacts that they fitted weren't the correct size they tried to charge me 300 dollars for the follow up for the ones that did fit. Not mention when I went to a new eye care facility I mentioned the type of contacts they prescribed here and they were baffled why they would prescribe such a high end specific contact for someone with regular Vision. She will push her own personal products that are extremely over priced and have nothing to do with eye care. She was a nice lady but she very much so used that kindness to take advantage. This was by far the worst medical experience I have ever received. Her practice has scared when finding future eye care facilities. She has taught me what to watch out for when people are trying to scam you in a professional setting. read more

During my check up, I wasn't expecting to have my eyes dilated. So they told me to schedule a separate appointment and come back for the test. I scheduled the follow up, received 3 appointment confirmations/reminders. Then I received a voicemail hours before the appointment to see if I could come in earlier. I rushed out of work to arrive on time, only to be told the test wasn't covered unless it was done at the original appointment. Both appointments offered a poor customer experience, but not offering a service/test that YOU suggested I schedule is an insult to your customers and disrespectful to their time. read more

I travel an hour to Dr. Golie because there has been no one else as knowledgeable, diligent or genuine as her. If you have nuisance floaters in your eyes or retinal issues, she has one of the latest retinal technologies in office that you can't find just anywhere. However, it's really not because of her high tech machines that has me sold, it's her down to earth personality, helpful tips and awesome staff that wins this eye doc over. read more

Front desk people can be rude and very pushy on their products. Frame are very expensive here and the wait times are very long. If you come in early you may have to wait outside until your appointment is due. Some times unnecessary tests are done so check if your insurance covers them or you will be paying out of pocket. Doctors know what they are doing over all but they push on sales alot. The place is very small inside as well. Overall I'd skip this place also the bums near the bridge don't do this place any favors since they are so close. read more

I came to see Dr. Golie as a new patient in January 2015. My eyes were feeling dry and irritated. I had a very mild eyeglass prescription for astigmatism for the past few years and wore my glasses when working at my computer for extended periods of time. I was thinking I had dry eye and might need some medication to help clear it and that I needed a vision test. I never would have believed what experience would follow. I spent nearly 7 months and spent over $2,000 trying to get my vision and eye irritation under control. It was an extremely long and tedious process and I expressed concern over my progress and care at nearly every appointment, and in several emails to Dr Golie. I also waited an average of 60 minutes for every scheduled appointment, many times longer. Frustrated with my (lack of) progress after so many visits and little improvement, I asked several times if there was another doctor I could see or solutions that might be covered by my insurance. Dr Golie had suggested a specialist that she said would be quite costly and told me that was my only option. All along I had an uneasy feeling that I was not receiving accurate information. I finally Googled eye doctors in my area and settled on a new provider. In ONE visit, my vision was cleared up. He recommended a simple eyelid scrub that cost about $5. He was shocked when I told him the treatment Dr Golie put me through. It's hard to describe what it feels like to be taken advantage of by a medical provider. It haunts me to this day. I wrote a letter to Dr. Golie simply asking for a refund and she swing back hard and called my new doctor to try to get him to rescind the advice I was given and ask that he authenticate her treatment. People make mistakes. But Dr. Golie has never come to terms with what she did, never took responsibility for her actions, never apologized, and never refunded my money. I write this review because if I can save one person from this experience it will have been worth it. read more

I went to Belmont Eye Care due to this provider being covered under my insurance. I found the whole a experience a little bit arduous. First, when I scheduled the appointment the receptionist was not very attentive. I had to ask a few times, in many different ways when an appointment was available within the week. It was a little like pulling teeth. When I arrived at the location, the receptionist (again) was not very helpful in greeting me and setting up my background information. I was helped by another sales associate. The entire appointment took about 2 hours, start to finish-with LOTS of waiting in between. I would complete one step, then told to wait to be helped. During the exam, the doctor was attentive and provided information on how to keep better care of my eyes. I did feel like over the counter products were pushed a little too hard for my first visit. The one thing that really bothered me, and maybe this is the case for all eye doctors now. They don't list the prices on the glasses, which makes it difficult to find one in your price range. I had to ask specifically for ones that would be covered, which was slightly embarrassing. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Golie. I hadn't seen an eye doctor since my final post LASIK check up about 3 years ago. After getting a new job with vision benefits I figured it was time to check things out. I had a basic exam and between checking in, completing new patient paperwork, seeing the assistant and the doctor, I was only there for about 45 minutes. I thought Dr. Golie was professional and efficient. I was impressed that she has her own line of eye care products. She ended up picking out 3 products she thought would benefit me and brought them to check out so I could get pricing info. It was easy and painless to turn down two of the three products. I ended up purchasing an eye cleansing oil to help with makeup buildup and clogged tear ducts and I have been very happy with the product. I plan to go back to Dr. Golie for my eye needs in the future. read more

I was truly impressed with the level of friendliness, professionalism, and service at Belmont Eye Care. The eye exam was thorough and careful, and every step was explained and shared in a very transparent manner. I told them I was only in for a glasses exam and they were very accommodating without trying to force a contact lens exam/fitting on me. Then the glasses fitting (which is always incredibly difficult and time-consuming for my face) was a joy. Dr. Golie was very involved and clearly cared to make sure I was happy and fitted with the best looking frame. They were also very helpful in working within my budget and insurance parameters to make sure I got into something that not only looked great but that I could afford as well. So, after reading that review from Sean, I would have to ask, "why haven't you spoken with any of the staff about these issues? I would think that you would bring it to their attention first, before going on yelp and going in on them. I don't know, maybe you did bring it to their attention, but from what I know, they would have taken care of the situation and made you happy. I'm just gonna pick your message a part. I love the fact that Dr. Golie takes her time and makes sure that I understand what's about to be done and why something was done. I have been to too many places where they didn't explain anything and I got home and had question after question about something. I have also had a chance to meet Renee and he is a great guy that goes out of his way to help you. I would have to disagree with the customer service getting weaker. For me, it has actually excelled. I'm sorry that you had an experiece that you didn't particulary like, but we are all human and we need to understand that mistakes happen and we need to be patient. I think that you should give then another chance and let them know how you feel, so they can fix anything that needs fixing. I will continue to support Belmont Eye Care. I had the pleasure of recently coming in for an appointment with Dr. Golie, and might I just say she is the cutest doctor ever! She's so friendly, kind, helpful, and really knows what she's doing. After my appointment we were talking about hypochlorous and how it can really help with I'll kinds of things. It's also super beneficial for your health. With coronavirus still being very much a thing, it's nice to know there's a product that's safe and not harmful to myself or my kids. I can use it for all kinds of disinfecting around the house as well as on the go. Dr. Golie has an incredible knowledge of this product and she makes it herself along with other supplements in her vitamin line she has. She gave me so much information! I got a large bottle for disinfecting around the house, and a smaller bottle for on the go, to sanitize hands and other areas that needed quick sanitizing. The other day my son put his grimy hands in his mouth and I was able to use the hypochlorous right into his mouth. Dr Golie is the best doctor I have ever had (that is saying a lot because I'm super picky since I'm a nurse). She is so caring, she listens, she is a nice mix between medicine and holistics. She gave me multiple things to try for issues I was having. I went to multiple eye doctors before I found Dr. Golie who actually listened to the symptoms I was describing and she saved me from doing further damage to my eyes. I used to go to her back when she was a part of a practice near my house by midway airport, now she is far but I refuse to go to anyone else! Echoing previous reviews, I had the unfortunate experience of realizing that this place is a full-on naturopathic/alternative health supplement pill pusher. I went there for an eye abrasion above my cornea, which I realize now isn't the worst thing to happen, but still requires professional treatment. If you don't want to read my full review which is a bit lengthy, the short version is that I think they used the distress of my injury and fear of vision loss to try to get me to buy their own brand of supplements, which aren't scientifically indicated to treat any eye problems. I felt exploited, and I feel their conduct was an abuse of the doctor's authority as a healthcare provider. I will preface by saying that I had been coming here regularly for my prescriptions. This time however, I didn't recognize the doctor who saw me, so I guess they had a management change in the past year. Regardless, the doctor seemed to take appropriate steps in diagnosing the problem, flushing the eye for any foreign objects, and giving me antibiotics and preservative-free eye lubricants. However, she also told me to take some $26 organic naturopathic eye drops and $76 nutritional supplements which contained little more than things like turmeric extract. I was so dazed by the urgency she stressed about my condition that I didn't think twice until I had purchased it all and went home. I then realized a few things: the "organic" eye drops contain MSM as an active ingredient, which have not been medically evaluated for the treatment of any condition, let alone for usage in eyes. The supplement pills contained oregano which I am allergic to. A medical literature review of eye abrasions/ulcers revealed that "less is more" when it comes to healing so you should avoid adding anything extra to the eye if you can help it, such as preservatives (does that include strange ingredients like MSM, which also contained an "organic" preservative?). Also, and most suspiciously, these supplements seemed to be the doctor's very own branded products. Thankfully they allowed me to refund the supplement pills due to my allergy, despite the "NO REFUNDS" sign posted. However, when I asked if my wound was healing at a normal rate or not, the doctor said no, it seems slow to her, and inquired about my diet and nutrition levels. She asserted the idea that I needed a series of nutrient and antioxident "tests" to determine the types of supplements I should be taking. All of this for an eye abrasion. Sensing that she was about to lose her $76 pill sale to a refund, I uncomfortably stood there while this trained optometrist dug through a series of products stored in a large display case in the exam room pitching each one to me. The last straw came when the doctor, who I'm pretty sure owned the Tesla SUV parked on the street, tried getting me to buy her proprietary oil drops to lubricate my eyes at night. Apparently antibiotics dry out your eyes, and I should've been using ointments from the very beginning! That would've been nice to know about days ago. When I asked if I could just use generic drug store branded ointment, she said those would contain impurities or some such nonsense, and pressured me to buy her organic oil blend drops instead (which of course ran $35 for 1ml). It's seriously just oil in a dropper. She said that I should be doing everything I can to make sure my eye heals its best. I completely agreed. I told them to cancel my future appointments, and I walked out. The next day I saw an opthmologist cornea specialist. The doctor said the rate my eye was healing was perfectly normal, and I just needed to keep my eyes lubricated. The nighttime ointment I bought from Walgreens seemed to work very well, despite not being "organic". It was also mostly oil with some petroleum jelly, but only cost $12, and comes highly reviewed on the internet. I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

I have been a customer of Belmont Eye Care for almost four years. I had some terrible dryness and infection the first time I went in. The doctor saw me and helped me get better since the first couple of days after my visit. They have cutting edge technology, easy parking, and even free coffee. The only reason I am giving this place a four stars review is because their customer service went from great to OK. Rene is one of the senior employees and has always been amazing. He is friendly and knowledgeable. But they hired new personnel who are not as good as he is. I believe they may continue receiving great reviews as long as they train their new employees better. read more

Private practices like this one offer more than glasses and contacts ... Dr Golie is very knowledgable with holistic care and will try to help more than correcting your vision. She is constantly reading up on knew and innovative technology in regards to optometry and vitamins and supplements. This practice examines all ages ( 6 months and up) and has all the latest technology. Supplements and vitamins are also found here and they are all reasonably priced. The glasses selection is amazing and if your looking for something specifically the staff will try their hardest to help you find what you are looking for. The office does become busy at times! So this review is long overdue. After I left from my appointment, I was going to give a 3 star rating; while the staff was nice, I arrived early, only to have to wait longer than 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment. Then they had no frames in my size (guess I have a petite face) and they made little effort to help me find one. However since I liked the frames I had and they were only a year old I opted to just have new lenses put into them. I picked up my "new" glasses in less than a week. And I added the 4th star because I realize the previous optician did a very poor job with my prescription and lenses. I can see so much better! I was told with my old pair that I just needed to get used to them, what BS. So glad I found Belmont Eyecare; I will be back for my annual check up next year. read more

When you wait an hour and a half for your appointment and the eye doctor starts by rattling off supplements you can take that are sitting in a glass case right behind her, and also recommends an organic makeup you should try that the facility gets a kick back from recommending, definitely a bad start and an equally bad end. Everyone very friendly and the doctors answered all our questions thoroughly, diagnosed the issue and starting treatment

I don't normally review places, but I had to share about my amazing visit yesterday. I have a host of issues with my eyes - astigmatism, far-sightedness, nystagmus, thinning retinas, and more. This means that eye exams are stressful for me, as I don't always perform well on the tests, and am worried about the various issues I have. This visit blew away all of those fears and nerves and replaced them with a strong sense of comfort and understanding. My appointment in all took ~1.5 hours, which is actually less time than it usually takes for me. I was able to finish my paperwork immediately, and get started on the preliminary tests almost right away, which were handled by the front desk staff with great concern - I was given information about every test, and treated with some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. I only waited a few minutes before I was seen by Dr. Shepelenko (Dr. S, as she said). We went through all of the typical tests, and she explained everything in great detail as she was doing it - what the test was for, why it was important, and what my results meant. I've been seeing eye doctors for over 25 years, so many of the things wrong with my eyes were explained to me at a young age, or only explained to my parents - Dr. S provided a much needed refresher on some things, and a necessary full explanation of other. I ordered contacts, and she made sure to tailor the type to my usage, conditions, and lifestyle, giving me the best contacts for my eyes and the best bang for my buck. I was able to try on a pair of the brand I will be receiving to check for comfort and fit, which I really appreciated. I'd been with the same eye doctor for over 20 years, and was nervous about switching to a different one, but I am so glad I did (no offense to my previous dr.!). I am so happy with the service and support I was provided at Belmont Eye Care by everyone, and will be happy to return for all of my future needs. read more

It has been a while since I have been to the eye doctor and the first time my daughter has went. My wife has been going to many chain eye places but the service and attention we got from belmont eye care was more then top notch then all those places combined. Dr. Golie was extremely patient with my daughter and made her visit fun. She answered all of my wife's questions for her prescription and glasses. She also gave me a very thorough eye exam with suggestions on how to improve my own vision health and help with other problems I been having. If you have a family with vision needs or just need a great place to check or help with your own vision health I can't recommend anyone better then Dr Golie and the Belmont Eye Care Center! Dr. Golie Roshandel Keovan is the BEST eye doctor I have ever met. She is kind and compassionate, and more importantly, she knows how to best care for your eyes. She tailors her treatments to meet the needs of each of her patients--for me, I was interested in a more holistic approach, so she helped me adjust my diet and lifestyle to improve my dry eye without the use of medications. She helped me -see- things differently, both literally (with glasses, contacts, and now LASIK!!) and metaphorically. Overall, the experience was fine. Dr. Gupta was thorough in her exam and very pleasant. I did feel like there was a constant upsell for products as well as additional services. (e.g. supplements and additional eye testing, even though my eyes were healthy). The staff was pleasant and helpful while waiting for my appointment. One major pet peeve was my appointment took 2.5 hours from start to finish. I did not see Dr. Gupta until 2 hours after my appointment was scheduled; I wish that they could just text you if they are running that far behind so you can do other things instead of sit in the waiting room. I understand things sometimes are not perfectly on schedule, but 2 hours late is a bit extreme. read more

I worked in ophthalmology at Loyola for 2 years. The patients I dealt with complained mostly about the wait. It seems that they didn't understand that it wasn't time-worthy to put dilation drops in your eyes and have the doctor wait with you while they started to work. It takes awhile to dilate your pupils. That is why you are sent back out to wait in the waiting area after receiving the drops. Running an eye care practice is a juggling act. Without patience, it's an uncomfortable experience. For both staff & patient. Not at this clinic. I have had eye issues since childhood and I have never had a five-star review-worthy experience such as I have at ths clinic. They are attentive, the office is clean, you get coffee tea and magaznes (good ones) to pass the time wating (because no matter where you go for your eye care needs, you will wait). Dr. Golie listens - takes the time to listen. I'd rather wait, knowing when it's my turn that I will be listened to rather than to be treated like cattle. I had an experience with a reputable doctor who forgot to put the bfocal prescription in my glasses! Who does that? He should not be practcing. I never returned to his practice and I'm glad I didn't because his error led me to Dr. Golie. A truly devoted healer. read more
