This was our first ride of the day, height requirement is 54" (137cm) or taller. Wait time wasn't very long, maybe about 20-30 minutes for less than a minute of a ride. This ride is very scary and dangerous as it basically has a straight down drop and the twirl is so slow and you're completely out of your seat. Nice to experience just once but definitely wouldn't go on again, might want to read more about it before going on if you're very cautious or have anxiety about rollercoasters such as this one. read more

Get shocked!!! What an insane ride! All the twist and turns. You are spinning while going vertical. Frontwards and then backwards. This ride is for this adrenaline rush goers and people who love the more challenging roller coasters. This isn't a Disneyland coaster lololol This is the big leagues. Definitely read/ pay attention to the warnings before going on this. If you have heart problems or back problems, I would not recommend it. Get Electrified! I was lucky enough to try the ride a few days after its official opening. The line opening weekend was about 45 minutes but I expect that to double during the busy summer months. The ride is quite exhilarating as you'll launch twice to build up enough momentum to rocket you 150 feet to the top of the ride. Once up there you'll experience that wicked upside down twist that admididly was a little scary. The Electic Eel is a great addition to SeaWorld but I still think Manta wins on the fun factor.. Tip - if you're here on the weekend or during summer you might want to consider buying the one time "rich kid's" pass for $15 if the line is over an hour. You get to cut the line, and avoid the sun. Speaking of the sun, much of the line is uncovered, under direct sunlight. You may get sunburned without head/ neck protection. - Only one train can run the tracks at once, compared to Manta which will run three at a time during busy days (much faster line time). - The Electric Eel is similar to Montezuma's Revenge at Knott's berry farm as the ride zips through the station a few times. - If your children are new to roller coasters try Manta first. The Electric Eel is much more intense. read more

Love this ride, it is hands down my favorite roller coaster at the park, yes even more than Emperor. The only issue I have is with the locker situation. I think it's messed up that guests are forced to pay for a locker. Some theme parks like Knott's and 6 flags have a simple cubby system (shoot even sea world has a small one for Arctic Rescue). Electric Eel only runs with 1 train so I don't understand how the cubby system wouldn't work for that ride, it's not like there's a possibility of someone stealing your stuff out of the cubby's since there's no 2nd or 3rd train letting out guests while you're on the ride. But what made it worse for us yesterday was that all the lockers by Electric Eel were "sold out" I asked the guy at the entrance of the queue what do we do since the lockers said they were "sold out" and he said we would have to go to the next closest lockers which was by guest services. When we get there those lockers were even more expensive than the one's by Electric Eel. $15 dollars for the cheapest lockers which were...yup you guessed it also "sold out" so we had to pay $20 for a locker because that's all that was available. I've got a strange feeling sea world might have a system and purposely made it seem like the cheaper lockers were all "sold out" forcing whoever wanted to ride the big coasters (which was the main reason for our visit) to pay for the more expensive lockers. It was not a busy day at all yesterday (05/28) longest time we waited for a ride was like 20 minutes so I don't see how all the cheaper lockers were sold out if there really wasn't that many people at the park. isitpacked.com even ranked yesterday as a "ghost town" hard to believe all those cheaper lockers were all taken. read more

As you approach closer to San Diego County, you may have seen billboards of SeaWorld advertising "San Diego's Tallest and Fastest" roller coaster. I never thought SeaWorld would end up with a thrill ride like this one. The experience is exhilarating and suspenseful all packed into a relatively short ride. The Electric Eel launches you really fast forward, then going backwards, then forward again heading up vertical for sharp twist, turns and loops. When I first buckled up, I wanted to find something I could hold on to, but there's no front handle bar. The only thing I could do is snug my feet between the foot bars on the floor. You might as well raise your arms up for airtime. On a Saturday afternoon in June, the wait times was 45 minutes all day. So when I was in line for the ride, the posted time was pretty much on point. While in line you'll see some signs of factoids about Eels. The soundtrack playing throughout the wait sounds like something from a Marvel/DC superhero movie, which kind of adds suspense before the ride. This may sound corny, but it would be cool to add zapping noises within the music, maybe Electrified Techno? I'm just saying. Overall, fun ride, it's fast and it got my adrenaline going for a minute. It's not as hardcore and lengthy like one of Six Flags Magic Mountain's popular roller coasters. If you're a thrill seeker visiting, this newest addition in SeaWorld would be something to get you excited about. read more

The BEST ride ever! You have to ride this ride if you go man that was fun. Also don't eat anything before you ride it you might throw up! Don't back down when you get in the line by the way. Oh my gosh! This is the scariest, most thrilling roller coaster I've ever been on! After about a 30 wait in line, my kid and I were seated on the Eel, strapped in, and launched off like solar flares from the sun!!! The ride is a double loop. The cars are hydraulically launched forward, about 3/4 of the way up the first loop, whereupon they then fly backwards up the opposite side of said loop. Whilst you are screaming, peeing your pants, and looking down on your certain doom from that vantage point: you will start to consider every life choice that brought you to this end. Ah but too late...you are then rocketed all the way up the first loop, turned (barrel roll style) upside down, then shot into the second loop, upside down again, dropped at a 90 degree angle back into the first loop, passing the starting point once again-and halfway back up that first loop!!! Then you glide into the start/finish point backwards once again-crying, drooling, and praying to every god of amusement parks that you can get to the toilet before crapping your pants!!!! DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST ROLLER COASTERS I'VE EVER RIDDEN!!!! Bravo, SeaWorld, bravo! read more

Once you get in the seats, you put on the comfort collars. Yeah... Sea World did that. You see, when the first Skyrocket II models were built, they only included lapbars. However Sea World decided that they needed comfort collars as an extra safety measure for their Skyrocket II's. They did them on Tempesto, They did them on Tigris, and they did them here. And while you're flying through some of these inversions.... they... can hurt. And it originally led me to dislike this ride. Seriously, I used to put this ride in the same tier as rides like Rip Ride Rockit and Boomerang at Knott's. And while I like this coaster A LOT more than I did, the collars do knock some points off of the ride because these aren't comfortable. Anyways, back to the review! We launch foreword and go up the tower a little bit. We then fall backwards and get another kick of speed from the LIM launch. This time we head up backwards and almost make it to the top of the Non-Inverting Loop. And now.... this is where the ride gets CRAZY! We fall down and FLY through the LIMS as we then spiral up to the top of this glorious ride. And while this part of the ride is pretty awesome and intense since we get a NICE snap to it, it feels WAY less snappy than it should be and it feels more cramp thanks to the comfort collators. Still not that bad, but yeah. ANNOYING. Oh there's also a wasted airtime moment here. UGH! Anyways, we then head into the inline twist which is pretty kickass as we get LOTS of hangtime and a great view of Journey to Atlantis before hitting a trim break. Before we get the chance to shout "TRIMS SUCK!" We head into my favorite part of the ride. We spiral back towards the ground while flying before heading into an AWESOME non-inverting loop before diving back down into the station before rising up into the twisty climb before rolling back into the station. I'm going to admit it. This is NOT a comfortable rollercoaster. There's a good chance you'll dislike this coaster your first time on it because of those STUPID Comfort collars. However, the more you ride it the more you get used to it. And when you get used to that, you can appreciate the crazy laterals and awesome moments this coaster has to offer. It seriously pisses me off that those collars are there and that the ride could be better without them. However because of those collars, the ride isn't nearly as good as it can be. With that being said however, I like Electric Eel. Even though it's not running at its full potential, it's still one of the stronger coasters I've ridden as it's currently among my top 20 coasters (And since I've ridden a total of 78 coasters, that's pretty impressive). I STRONGLY recommend riding Electric Eel when you go to Sea World San Diego as it's an awesome ride and it's easily one of the star attractions in the park! It's an okay ride. It's smooth and a fast coaster but it is too fast. Not like the speed of the coaster, that was perfect! But the coaster goes so fast that as soon as your Adrenalin gets going the ride is over. If it went around two or three times it would be better but it doesn't! It lasts 45 seconds! It should be at least 45 seconds longer! Not worth the wait if it is busy. read more
