I purchased a small clutch and specifically asked the clerk if they accept returns and exchanges. The response I received was, yes, as long as it's within a week of purchase. I decided to return the clutch a fee days later because it was just too pricey. But when I got to the store, the clerk's gave me the nastiest look and said "I'm not giving you any money back, if you'd like you can have store credit." They completely lied and denied what they told me only a few days ago. One of the clerk's responded by telling me to read the receipt about the store policy. THE RECEIPT DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE STORE POLICY WRITTEN ON IT!! Conveniently (for them) they keep the no return policy on a piece of paper BEHIND A COMPUTER SCREEN THAT NO ONE COULD SEE! They could have at least been understanding and courteous, there is no reason to be nasty and offensive.

We made a phone call to the store after returning home and noticed the stitching had all come undone on two parts of the hat's decorative bow and the woman insisted that she had wasted enough time on the "old lady" who purchased it and it was probably her own fault that hat was faulty/damaged (even though it was never taken out of the bag). She continued to yell over the phone that as she had accepted an exchange for the woman in the same purchase (even though an additional $150 was spent) that she would sew the hat or nothing so goodbye and hung up... Strongly recommend you do not shop here if you want decent and respectful service that complies with federal law requirements. Federal Law states "Retailers are required to accept the return of defective items... also federal law provides a "Cooling-Off Rule " giving buyers three days to cancel purchases of $25 or more."

I ordered a brand new Stetson Saxon in Graphite, but they sent me an old stock in Charcoal instead. The hat also did not come with a Stetson hat box but in a Bencraft hat box. When asked, Bencraft insisted that the colors are similar (they are not), and that their box is better than Stetson's because Bencraft's has a handle (I prefer Stetson's box which has on its side a paper label with hat info). I called the store several times to ask for a replacement, but nothing has been done. They also did not return calls/texts despite their promises to do so. Many calls were also not answered and went straight to voicemail. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in Bencraft Hatters for their lack of intent to make things right and I will be buying my hats elsewhere from now on.

I ask him where he got that and he tells me the Hat Box in Coney Island. So I think, ok, next time I'm in NYC I'll check this place out. So it's next time and I make the trip all the way down to Coney Island. Check their hours as they've some slightly odd hours. I walk in with my cover in its box and tell them I want one of their hat boxes. I'm directed to a wall where there's a gentleman working behind the counter and hat boxes behind him. I point to one of the boxes and tell him I want one of those. I open my box and pull out my cover and he does a double-take and says, "You've got a really beautiful hat!" I tell him it's my cover that goes with my military dress uniform. So we look at his hat box and it doesn't look like my cover's going to fit but then he turns my cover upside down and it fits perfectly! Sold! When he's ringing me up he tells me that his grandfather was in the military and he greatly respects service members and gives me 50% off! That's awesome. I tell him that I'll tell everybody I know about his place.

Overpriced Garbage - Stay Away!!! Despite paying such a high price, the quality was absolutely terrible. The kapota ripped apart in places that I barely even touch. After just a few months, I went back to them, expecting some level of responsibility. Instead, they shrugged it off and said, "Yeah, we don't know. That's your problem." Rather than fixing it properly, they just patched over the holes. And, of course, after a few months, the patches ripped again--plus new holes appeared! When I went back again, they told me, "Yeah, this is your problem." At first, they charged me $50 to patch up two small holes. Now, for the same holes plus a new one, they suddenly want $400! (I found much better tailor Bugi who did WONDERFUL job only for $40!!!!!!) This is outrageous. These people are scammers and charlatans. They charge a premium price for a garbage product and then try to squeeze even more money out of you for useless "repairs." Stay far, far away!
