I went to Benny for my first ever tattoo and when I went in I had some idea of what I wanted but I could not explain it the best. He took my idea and created a master piece! He created something that I only could have imagined and not only that he added new ideas that I did not even think about. I would 100% NOT recommend Trevor for a tattoo. Went to him with the intention of getting a pretty meaningful tattoo.. after clearly humoring him with my idea, him calling it "a supreme pizza with way too many toppings", not offering any advice when directly asking him, he was very happy to accept my deposit money and make me a tattoo appointment , even though there was no clear picture drawn up, just a vague idea of a tattoo.  When I called to change my appointment to a second consultation to see what the tattoo plan was, the front desk person was happy to do so. I then received a call from Trevor while I was at work who said "I don't do second consultations because they are a waste of my time and you have now wasted my time".  Went in the next day to get something I had left there and the owner explained to me that there are no second consultations because they don't want you "showing your friends the tattoo picture and comparing it on Pinterest" and that "you need to trust the artist". WELL this tattoo will be on MY body forever and Mr Trevor does not know me after a 15 minutes meeting where he pretty much told me my idea was dumb and changed it completely.  Even though he pretty much laughed in my face, I still had faith in him and was going to have him tattoo me, just wanted a second consultation to see what he was planning to permanently put on my body so I could change as needed. However, I guess I just wasted his time with my "supreme pizza" idea. read more

I may not be FULL of tattoos, but I've been to my fair share of shops checking things out and I have to say I find myself disappointed from the get go in beloved. First of all, MOST shops I've gone into have really friendly front desk people who are more than willing to help you figure out what artist to talk to or make an appointment with for a consult. At Beloved, my husband and I were greated with a girl who frankly acted like she was stoned out of her mind and unsure how to speak. She seemed annoyed that we were there and rolled her eyes on more than one completely unnecessary occasion. Second, MOST shops I've gone into have been able to either have an artist consult real quick with you or make an appointment for like one of the next couple days. At Beloved, when we asked about a consult it was a week and half out because the artist had random times just blocked out in his planner for "brainstorming" the girl said. Third, MOST shops seem busy when you go into them - there' some life, people and machines buzzing. At Beloved, both times I stopped in it was quite, without people and I did not see or hear any artists working with people. I'm definitely not impressed and will not be going back there. My husband had made a consult appointment, but cancelled it because we found much friendlier and personable tattoo artists and employees elsewhere. I will be discouraging my friends from going here if any of them decide to get a tattoo. Major let down. read more

Sarah Jane is simply amazing! I came in because i had received a poor tattoo from Leviticus. Sarah came highly recommended and she put me at ease through my consult. I literally cried during my consult because the previous shop messed up my leg so bad. She took a horrible tattoo and transformed it in to something i simply love! The colors are vibrant and beautiful. I went in with a tattoo i hated and couldn't stand to look at, and walked out with something i am proud to show off. The shop itself is also very awesome. Everything is clean and they even have a little TV lounge with trail mix and water! In my opinion, they go above and beyond and it counts! read more

I brought in something really simple, and came out with this thing that I'm not so sure I like. The "artist" insisted on adding all sorts of embellishments that I didn't ask for but he insisted would make it "better". I only went with it and let him carry out his big gesture of self-expression on my body because I had already paid in advance. I didn't ask for it to be "better". I just wanted it really similar but with small adaptations necessary to make it a decent tattoo. Meh. I'm going somewhere else next time. They're too pushy. Actually hearing what people are saying and understanding that people are making themselves vulnerable by allowing you to do your work on them, is an attribute. read more

I've been to this shop three different times, and each time have had a consistently great experience. It's true--these people are artists, and if you want a complex, beautiful tattoo, you will get that. But I wanted a simple word in script, and they never made me feel like it was stupid or not worth their time. I also went back with a friend to get a simple line drawing, and she had the same positive experience. The bonus for me on top of the great work is that it's great for first timers. When you walk in, it feels more like a comfortable, modern living room, and less like a scary tattoo shop. It didn't have any of the things that make me feel too intimidated to go into other shops. The artist's areas are about three-quarter height walls, and the ceilings are high and open. Everything is really well lit. All three times I've been there, I (and/or the people I was with) got really personal experiences. The artists are friendly and funny, and love to share stories about life and their tattoos. I now live 500 miles away, and I will go back to Beloved Studios for all of my future tattoos. read more

I wanted to memorialize her. I absolutely didn't want to get the tattoo of her unless it captured her smile and personality. I held extremely high standards. You don't want a tattoo of someone you lost if its going to even slightly not look like that individual. There are certain people in this world that are doing exactly what they were born to do. I have only great things to say about Beloved. Having undergone well over 60 hours of work under the needle at Beloved, I love this place more and more. The shop, to start with, is Very clean, comfortable, and creative. The desk girl is always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The whole staff maintains a very mellow environment, I've brought my mother to appointments without worrying about her getting "the wrong impression" of the place or culture (you know how moms can be...), as well as friends considering getting ink so they could get a feel for the process in the most non-intimidating venue. Brandon is my artist, and I chose him hands-down after considering many other artists. His painterly style, use of color, and mastery in placement and flow won him my business. As an artist myself, I am always impressed by his ability to take my ideas and spin them into a unique concept that translates well into skin. He is always professional and prepared, and will be direct if an idea or image won't work well while offering viable alternatives. He works hard to give his clients the best. I was tattooed by him at a recent convention, and even in that situation, he made the experience fun and positive. His wife, there helping out, was such a doll in making sure I was comfortable. On a personal note, Brandon's an awesome guy, which I feel is important when you are spending large blocks of time sitting in a room with someone. There are always folks cracking jokes and laughing, enjoying their time at the shop. Really makes the time go quick. I have sent several people into Beloved, a few of them for large projects, a few for small pieces, and they have all been beyond happy with their tattoos and experiences. All of the artists working within the shop are great, and I feel confident recommending any and all of them to folks wanting custom work. Not sure if I'm too happy about everything knowing that my first tattoo was 140$ with less then 10 words (as what I was told less then 10 words about 80 bux) and NO, it did not take alot of ink to do this simple tattoo. Ontop of that, kayden was literally taking 20 mins just to put that phrase on my arm STRAIGHT Whole thing took about 1. 20 min and of course, as been told, less then an hour is around 80 bux. I really don't care how much it was, but if you don't really know and if I hear different amounts given to me, than that tells me something about that shop! I still like my tatto just not satisfied and since he messed up so much, just by laying it straight on my arm, (to me) it's off by a tiny bit (of how it's really suppose to look like) read more

This place has some attitude, but my tattoo is absolutely gorgeous. I worked with Dan to design a cover-up for a terrible, thick-lined, black tattoo I got when I was 20. Initially, he seemed excited and open to working with me and my very specific ideas. But when I showed up for my tattoo session, he seemed frustrated, and the design he ultimately tattooed on me lacked a lot of the details I asked for. But, like I said, it's a gorgeous and excellently crafted tattoo, and he did an amazing job covering up the old ugly one. I asked for another tattoo -- another cover-up -- but he declined. I was bummed and really frustrated at first, but in the end, so very grateful I at least got one of my tattoos from Dan. And I was also regretful that I fenced Dan in with any parameters at all and by trying to control too much of the outcome by imposing my own personal artistic vision on his -- dear lord, especially with a difficult cover-up. Dan is an amazing artist -- stellar with line work, shading, and perspective, basically everything -- but I realize now that he gels best with clients who hand most, preferably all, of the reins over to him. I just really wish I'd known this before we initially sat down and talked about my idea. It would've been way less uncomfortable for both of us. Which is why I'm sharing this now. Don't make the same mistake I did. Instead, follow these step-by-step instructions when working with Dan-truly-the-man: 1. Definitely work with him. 2. Trust him, because he will not let you down. 3. Set aside your control freak, ditch your expectations, and repeat after me: "Let go, and let Dan." read more
