It was later on a Sunday evening and this shop was close by and open making it the perfect place to pop in for a spontaneous piercing. I called beforehand to make sure they weren't too busy and showed up shortly after. The first thing I noticed is that the shop is very clean and cool. Some tattoo/piercing places are scary and in your face but I really liked the feel and style. My friend and I waited in the main lobby area for awhile before anyone greeted us or let us know they'd be with us. It was probably 15 minutes before the guy behind the counter asked what he could do for me. I explained I wanted an antitragus piercing and he got me all ready to go pretty quickly. My actual piercer was Selina Ryan and she is awesome. She was profesional, sweet, and patient with me when I wanted to move the piercing placement. She knows what she's doing and gave me all my aftercare supplies and information. She also changed out another piece of jewelry. The actual piercing was painless and she had me breathe throughout the process to shift my focus. Overall my only complaint was the pace of service from the front desk guy. Alright, this place is phenomenal. I was in yesterday with my friend as she was getting her lip pierced, and it was such top notch. I got two sets of earlobe piercings at Steady. Each time the person at the register made me sign a document saying someone explained to me that everything was properly sanitized, even though no one had had this conversation with me. Fast forward to a week or two after I got my second set of earlobe piercings-- my skin was started to grow over the ring. At first I thought it was a blood blister and planned on persisting through the pain. Eventually I had to go to another piercer, who informed me that I'll probably need to seek medical and attention and that I will have a noticeable scar. He removed the hoop for free and explained that for new piercings, it's best practice for professionals to recommend studs to avoid the situation I'm currently in. He also said piercers are moving away from the full ear-soak piercing aftercare method that Steady instructed me to follow. Steady was insanely expensive and led to the worst piercing experience of my life. My ear is deformed and I'm struggling to cope emotionally. read more

This shop was attentive, professional and very clean! I was super impressed! I didn't have an appointment, which I thought was going to be a problem for a Saturday night but it wasn't at all! I had to wait about 20 min because there were people ahead of me and they were unexpectedly short-staffed. However, they were AWESOME! This is my 5th tattoo and may be a lot to some and not many to others. I was confident that Steady was the place to go, given my track record with them sticking needles in my body. I love my Steady piercings. I am happy to report that they're still the best. This review is especially for Selina Ryan who is the piercer at Steady Tattoo. It is not often that you see people so committed to the work that they do and making their clients feel special and taken care of. I had gotten my nose pierced with Selina and unfortunately after a good month of healing I started experiencing hypertrophic scarring (which is basically the skin producing excessive collagen ) and resulted in an ugly bump around my piercing. I have been visiting Selina since then and she has been so helpful giving me various tips and tricks to help me bring the bump down and heal without scarring. Has my bump completely gone? No, its a work in progress but having someone like Selina to work with has really made me worry less about it and know it will eventually go away. I followed her (not like on the street like a creep but i followed up with her via email) because i honestly don't want anyone else putting their art work on me. At least not permanently. Really happy with this place. Selina pierced my earlobe, she was awesome, everything was super clean, not a long wait, she wasn't rushed at all, very clear instructions on care, etc. Seven weeks later, my piercing started to get a little infected (it was fine for the first six weeks, so I'd probably blame it on my small children with dirty hands, not at all on the piercing job), so I went in tonight to get it checked out. Alex looked at it, switched it for a longer post because of the swelling, gave me some good advice and it's already less swollen and less red and I'm crossing my fingers that that's all it needed to heal. The procedure was fast and it didn't hurt that much. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they are pricey. The service was $30 and then the jewelry was another $30. Plus tax. Then tip. So after having my nipples pierced the first time and removing them after a few months due to healing issues (no fault of Steady Tattoo by any means) I went back and had them repierced. Selina did them once again and when I mentioned my issues from last time she made some suggestions for better healing and reiterated that I was to come to her if I had any issues this time around which I really appreciated. I just got my septum pierced here yesterday. I wish there was an option for 6 stars because of the amazing experience I had! My legal name is different from my preferred name. While I was in the bathroom, my friend informed the receptionist of my preferred name and pronouns, and she told the piercer and referred to me only with that name. When the piercer was preparing, I started feeling lightheaded, and she let me sit and talk with her until I felt better. The piercing itself was beautifully done with little pain. Everything was sterilized including the piercing site beforehand and I was given a free aftercare kit. I have a big problem with infections on new piercings because of how sensitive my skin is to metals of any kind, and it's not even swollen! If you plan on getting a piercing, go here! read more

Had a surface anchor that my body wasn't accepting. I moved to Minneapolis recently and had been looking for a shop to take it out and for any future piercings. I found this place on yelp, called, the staff was super friendly and let me know I could walk in anytime before 9 pm. I got off late and barely made it there by 8:55, I walked in preparing myself to not be able to get it removed since I was so late getting in. There was NO mention of my timing, they were so polite. The piercer had me back in maybe 3 minutes, asked all the right questions, ensured I was comfortable, and removed my surface anchor literally in maybe 45 seconds with no pain or excessive bleeding whatsoever! He also made sure I understood after care and let me know what things I could do to help with the scarring. Super knowledgeable, and he even took the time to listen to me and answer any questions I had. I've had a lot of piercings but this was only my second anchor that didn't work out (my body's fault) They made me feel so comfortable and welcomed and the price for the removal was so reasonable! The shop is nicely decorated with plenty of seating for my friends waiting for me, parking outside was easy to find, and the place was clean, professional, and organized but still a fun place to come to! I'll for sure be back soon for piercings and I'm even checking out some of their artists for future tattoos as well. I highly recommend this shop for anyone getting piercings and for anyone a little nervous for a first piercing. Since moving to Minneapolis 3 years ago, I've gotten most of my piercings done at Steady, and Selina has pierced me every time. I love her demeanor and how she pierces. She's calm, efficient, respectful and super professional. She's by far the best piercer I've ever had. I also really like the structure at Steady Tattoo. Their front desk staff are always kind and are happy to explain anything. I also think their pricing is very reasonable. I've been to other piercing shops where I felt nickel and dimed, and although I respect a piercer's craft, there are other shops that I feel are overpriced. Steady allows you to choose the cheaper option if you want it, but they also have more elaborate and expensive jewelry depending on your taste. They can also order jewelry for you if they don't have the style you want and swap it out once your piercing has healed. Even though I am running out of room on my ears, any time I need something pierced, I will always go to Steady. read more

I found this place on Yelp after my original plan at a different shop unexpectedly fell through. My walk-in to get a second lobe piercing went great. So a few weeks ago I got my septum pierced by a piercer named Selena. I go through the process and unfortunately she did a bad job at piercing. She didn't completely have the needle pierced through and sort of hesitated and then eventually pierced it through and it was extremely painful and she struggled getting the ring in. The end result was a very crooked piercing. It was still crooked even after I waited for the swelling to go away. I went to another tattoo shop that many of my friends recommended me to. I went in for an appointment to have them take a look at the crooked piercing, and they agreed that it wasn't pierced very well and it was very crooked so they removed the piercing. They told me to wait three weeks for it to heal and come back in to get re-pierced. I got re-pierced today and it was an entirely different experience. My piercer drew a line on my nose to make sure that it was completely straight and had me look at the positioning first. He pierced my septum and it was seamless and I experienced very little pain, not nearly as much pain as I experience at Steady Tattoo. It's also not crooked which is what I wanted, obviously. I'm pretty sure the reason why my first piercing at steady was so painful was because she pierced straight through the cartilage, which is not what I wanted. I had no idea she was going to pierce that part of it and if I would've known I wouldn't have gotten it pierced there. I wanted to get pierced on the "sweet spot" or the thin layer of skin below the cartilage. Another bad side to my experience getting pierced at steady tattoo was that there was no refund or partial refund. They only offered me to get re-pierced. The problem with that is I had already gone through a bad experience with them and I didn't have the trust in them to do it again. So basically I lost my money, I got a crooked piercing, got stabbed in the nose in a part that shouldn't have been pierced, a scar on my cartilage(yay), and had to wait three weeks and get re-pierced. The very least they could've done was give me an apology and a partial refund. I think they need to rethink their return policy and customer service. read more

I went in for a walk in belly button piercing & waited no more than 15 mins. The lobby was cozy & there was a wide variety of jewelry to pick out. The piercing fee is $30 & my jewelry was $50 & then I left a $20 tip so it was about $100. I was very pleased with my piercer Selina she was chill & definitely made me feel comfortable, the process was quick & easy & she was very informative. I loved her! I will definitely be going back & recommending this place to my friends! UPDATE: it's been over a year and I realized that it wasn't as good as I thought. She clearly didn't pierce my belly button correctly. My recovery process was a MESS. My belly button swelled up (which is expected) and the top hole started expanding making the top gem sink into my skin and then started to close up around it. So I went back and she switched it out for a longer bar, told me to wait for swelling to go down and then after a month or so I could put the original one back in. It started to feel much better and look better too with the longer bar. To this day I still have the long bar in because whenever I try to put the original one in it's barely long enough to fit in the piercing, plus it will start to open the hole back up since it's pushing on it because the bar is too short (with the original jewelry. I can't even buy other jewelry for it since they are all the same size). So I don't know if she just pierced it with too much skin or what happened but I'm not very happy with it. But I also don't want to take it out because it was an expensive piercing. The customer service was fabulous but the end product wasn't so much. I don't know if I will ever go back but I do tell my friends that she was lovely and share my experience with them and then let them decide if they want to go or not.
