Worst service in every way. Very expensive deck work, they do not know how to measure the rise of steps (still wrong), bad communication with each other, no one spoke English but Howard, no planning, no coordination of supplies and workers, can't measure, tried to cover up one big mistake and 15 smaller mistakes, and when the workers were told by Howard to repair them, they shot two holes in our hoses with a nail gun to show us their discontent. They also left a huge pile of construction trash on the first day that was topped off with their empty McDonald's containers and empty soda cups. I had to clean it up or watch the raccoons party in my yard all night. Beltway Builders are very rough around the edges and too well-established to be that way. I am embarrassed for them. read more

The person who came to our house was extremely haughty. All I needed was someone to come out and fix a quarter sized grouting issue on the exterior second story floor. I was quoted $1250 which is absolutely outrageous! The man told me that it's because 2 people have to come out since it's high up and for all the insurance that beltway builders has to carry and yada yada yada. I asked him how long would it take to fix; somewhere in the ballpark of 30 min. So $1250 for MAYBE 30 minutes?!!?! Beltway Builders remodeled our bathroom. While our design was very specific, various aspects of the project weren't executed either according to the design specific OR were executed so poorly that the work had to be ripped out and redone. Toward the end of the project, I so desperately wanted these people out of my house that I hired a different company to fix the abysmal dry wall and repaint. We had an excellent experience with Beltway Builders. We needed a patio wood door replaced. Joe van Daniker, the sales rep and project manager, showed up on schedule, assessed the job, and gave us a good (maybe slightly high) quote. We signed the contract and the job was scheduled a week later. Two pleasant workers showed up on time and completed the removal of the old door, painted and assembled the new door, hung the door, and even bolstered the stability of the door post in about 2.5 hours of time. The new door looks and works great. Their cleanup was thorough. I would consider using their services again. We seem to have had a far better experience than other reviewers. read more

I had only very limited interraction with this business. But my experience with the project manager (Darren) was very positive. I needed one window repaired and was given this business through Home Advisor. When I spoke to the business on the phone, I emphasized that this was just a very small handy-man type of job. They assured me that wasnt a problem. Darren came on time and immediately diagnosed the problem as a broken balance. I hadnt been sure if something was broken or just out of whack. But he candidly told me that it would be much cheaper for me to go about getting the window fixed a different way because his business has a minimum project charge of $550 and that if I had a new balance it would be simple to do the replacement myself. (I wish the person I had scheduled with on the phone had told me about the $550 minimum!) He called another company he knows that deals in windows from this manufacturer who recommended contacting the manufacturer. I did that and they are sending me the replacement parts for free with instructions they say will let me do the repair myself. My positive experience with Darren makes me much more likely to contact them in the future if I have a bigger project. read more

I received a referral for Beltway Builders (410 Remodel) from Home Advisor. I researched the company on Yelp and read all the reviews and decided not to contact them. That evening, I received a phone call from Beltway Builders asking to confirm an appointment (which I didn't make), so I hung up. The very next day, Dave Collins from Beltway Builders arrived at my home. I wasn't home at the time, but my wife was. She knew I was expecting a contractor (not Beltway), so she let him inside our home. Once she was aware of the situation, she asked him to leave, which he was hesitant to do and for some odd reason called us "crazy". My husband and I scheduled an estimate to have a window repaired. I took off work to be home for this estimate. Once the estimator was 2 hours late, I called. The lady on the phone was nice, but told me the tech rang the door bell twice. This is not true as I was in the house the whole time. I thought maybe the doorbell was not working so I check, nope that was not the problem. The door bell was fine. I made the decision to simply look for another contractor as I was not going to take off another day for this. I would not recommend this company unless you have time to waste. Even if we weren't in the midst of a pandemic, the man that came to my house to give me an estimate was not, in any way, trying to be careful of the spread of germs. His mask did not cover his face and he wiped his nose twice, and then proceeded to write out an estimate to hand to me. My skin was crawling. I took his estimate and immediately trashed it. Was scheduled for a bathroom remodel estimate on Saturday afternoon between the hours of 1:00/2:30. My husband stayed home so he didn't miss them when they came. I left work 2 hours early because in the confirmation email it states both homeowners should be there when the contractor arrives. I called at 3:30 thinking maybe they got lost or possibly running behind only to have them tell me the contractor had his days mixed up, he actually thought today was Sunday. That was the dumbest excuse I've heard coming from a company, I'd rather them tell me the dog ate my work order. SMH and they actually asked me if I wanted to reschedule for another day. I had the worst experience with this company. They've been in business for years and should know whether or not they can build beyond the Public Utility Easement line on people's property. Instead, they took my $500 deposit toward getting a county permit. The permit was denied, and even the county told me that the contractor should've known better. Requested a quote for replacement of 15 ft. of gutter, 1 downspout and small misc. items. They in turn quoted me $1,900 basically $25 per linear foot and no this wasn't a copper gutter which is the only material that supports that type of price. Dale, BB project mngr., handled my job to repair my deck foundation that sunk many inches into the ground and no longer supported my deck. He assessed what needed to be done, gave me some options/quotes, and quickly set up the job the following day. The Contractor showed up early, did the job fast and professionally. Showed up exactly on time for my free estimate and gave me a much better price than all the others. Have been polite and easy to work with so far. Very responsive. I can reach the person in charge of my job immediately. The workers are there every single day and I can see rapid, daily progress. They originally said the job would be 4-6 weeks (complete over haul of condo) but now say they will be done next week, getting the job done in just two weeks! Shows what happens when workers actually show up and work hard. The condo manager also tells me how nice and polite the workers are every time I go check on their progress. 3/6/2018 It's currently 6:08 and I am doing a quick search on yelp of places that are open now just to get a quote for my damaged fence. I saw the poor reviews and I'm calling anyway (I'm on hold now). Before I was even successful at being placed on hold, I was hung up on three times after the receptionist picked up the phone without responding. I could obviously hear her presence on the phone but she refused to speak, then just hung up. Now I'm on hold awaiting service. After about a 5 minute hold, she tells me that she can't get anyone to me for a week and a half. Next, she proceeded to tell me that there are more important issues than my fence and listed all of their other customers concerns as if that was helpful to me. It sounded as if she was reluctant to even proceed after I told her I still would like to proceed with an estimate (deep sigh, then another hold). The entire time she had a less than welcoming attitude. Either way, I scheduled am estimate and hopefully things go better moving forward. Update: 3/6/2018 I received a call this morning from another individual who was much more friendly and was able to move my appointment date up. As I share the bad, I must share the good. I had an appointment with Beltway Builders for a quote to mount a flat screen TV. After canceling the first appointment, he showed up a few days later, spent 5 minutes in my home and gave me a quote of $650!! My TV itself cost half that amount. When I balked at the price I was quoted, he told me to hire a construction worker to do it for $50. I ultimately found another professional vendor who mounted the TV for me for $150. Beware of Beltway Builders! The salesman and I agreed to remodeling two bathrooms. We sat down and picked out the finishes from their so called online showroom. We wrote down all of the items numbers on the contract and he ensured the items would be ordered the following Monday. 3 to 4 weeks later, the contractors arrived and started unloading the items out of their van. I noticed that none of the items agreed to on the contract or their online store was correct Come to find out the contractors told us there is no warehouse and everything came from Lowe's or Home Depot. So I spent $14,000 for bathroom remodeling to get $2000 dollars worth of material from Lowe's and Home Depot. Then to top it all off, the contracting crew went on vacation in the middle of my remodel. It is so much fun living in a construction zone with a toddler. read more

I needed the vinyl siding on one section of my home replaced. The salesman Chris quoted me a price of 1600 and I gave them a 534 down payment. Around 3 weeks later I called their office for a start date on the project. I had to call 3 days in a row before I came in contact with someone. Brittany told me, Chris no longer works for Beltway and another salesman would have to come over. Why? I still can't figure that out. The new salesman added an additional 1000 to the cost of the project. I immediately cancelled and demanded my down payment back, in which they agreed. I hired them to replace some siding and gutters. After I signed the contract I was told I would be contacted within a week or 2 to schedule the job. I was not contacted for over 6 weeks. I regularly called the company to find out what was going on with no assistance. They finally came and completed half the job and asked for payment in full and told me they would not finish the job without payment. They advertise "handyman" services, yet when I asked about hiring someone to hang a heavy mirror I was told in a very sarcastic tone that they are a plumbing and heating company. We made an appointment for Beltway Builders to come give us a quote to paint/refinish our kitchen cabinets from honey oak to white or gray. First question to the scheduler was do you paint cabinets, to which she replied yes. I specifically asked for the project manager to bring samples and pictures of oak cabinets refinished. I stressed I wanted to see their work with honey oak cabinets or not bother coming. I made arrangements to leave work early. The project manager arrived promptly but apologized right off the bat as their company doesn't paint cabinets. I think they kept the appointment in attempt to persuade us to remodel which is very much not in our budget. Very frustrating and a waste of time. Update: I just received a very heartfelt apology via email from Beltway for the mistake with the appointment and they have promised to speak with the appointment coordinator. The windows already had a half screen and the building is so old, but they certainly figured out how to put the other half in +2 patio screen doors. Larry was doing it all on his own and he was very particular on doing the job right. I am very happy with the work and the company. He was on time, knowledgeable, professional and provided a competitive pricing. On the day or the job, the crew arrived on time and were very efficient. After the job, they cleaned the area from all debris, leaving the back yard impeccable. Bill came to check that every was done properly. I was very pleased with the work and the company overall. We called the office who explained that he had three appointments for that hour and we just had to wait our turn. Made us feel like they didn't care for the business. Told us we could simply call and reschedule despite the fact that we made ourselves available for the appointment. We also spoke to the rep who was to actually give us the estimate, and he explained that although he was in the area, an hour later, he couldn't make himself available even at that time. Informed us that he would take an hour longer, and we then requested him to come back in two hours which he absolutely refused to accommodate. BELTWAY BUILDERS INC. I experienced a very traumatic, upsetting, not worth the money, terrible emotional experience. I had bad dreams and anxiety from the experience with Beltway Builders. Please find another company. I am an educated, honest middle class citizen of Baltimore County. I can't believe the way I was treated by the job manager of this company. This person brings nothing but negative to this company. If I owned this company, I would get rid of him before something really bad happens to destroy the reputation of this company!! The project manager Glenn, was short tempered, lacked communication skills, screamed at me at the top of his lungs when I showed disappointment about his lack of communication, didn't care about my health and safety regarding drywall dust, spores, dirt, and residual wall parts in the air of my bedroom when my wall was torn down for exploratory purposes. Failed to give updates on scheduled work or return jobs. Failed to examine that my bedroom was painted with eggshell pain on the walls and ceiling, instead of painted with eggshell on the walls and flat on the ceiling. I had to run out and point out to him that a mistake was made. He responded like, "What do you want? It's painted? He screamed at me, and my husband and showed very little respect for us as elderly and customers, and ignored our concerns. He blew off my concerns when I said I didn't want to sleep in my room with the drywall torn out. He told me, "It's no BIG DEAL!" "It's just a simple hole in the wall!" I told him I had asthma and my lungs were sensitive to dust, plaster, etc. He told me nothing would happen. I then suffered an asthma attack, only to have him come to my home and scream st me like I had done something. He is unprofessional and lacked manager skills. His men did not wear booties on their feet. Nor did he. They trampled on my floor with their shoes, and pulled out dirty drops after we requested something to protect our floors. I had to call Glenn numerous times to find out what was going on, only to have him get smart at me and find fault in my inquiry. He texted me the morning of when his men were coming to work to tell me they were coming at 8:00 AM. Then screamed at me that I wanted the work done as soon as possible because I was going to be busy at the end of the week. He never accepted the fact that he made mistakes. He always blamed my insurance company didn't pay for this or that. But never gave me any options of paying for better quality. He always claimed that I was too much and blamed everything on me. When most issues were related to his lack of people skills and communication. He complained that I was screaming at him, when I was just trying to be heard and understood because he was short tempered and screaming at me. I reacted to his unraveled actions. He said his boss didn't want him to do my job, which I did not know, and made me feel my job was a waste of his time. He quoted me $10,000 for a job that was approx. $3,000. I felt uncertain about his credibility because he always seemed to be scamming me or up to no good. He made me feel horrible. I had nightmares and became sick from the stress and chaos of his personality, quick temper, and lack of concern for my job. I told him I had more work with bigger jobs for him, but after this fiasco, I NEVER want to see the name Beltway Builders ever again. I knew the minute I met him, that he was a shady person. I should have looked into other companies. Allied Restoration was the other company I consulted. Their worker came to do a moisture test in my home. The worker Mike, was pleasant, knowledgeable and showed 100% better customer relation skills. He was prepared with shoe booties, welcomed questions, and made me feel so much more comfortable with the work he was doing. I feel I made the wrong choice with Beltway Builders. I hope Glenn is released from this company. He was shady and seemed to be up to "NO GOOD."  If anyone wonders about scammers and poor management Glenn from Beltway Builders would be the man. I don't want to mention the scamming techniques he mentioned he, and his company's adjusters, run on insurance companies.  BEWARE!! read more
