They are now called bluebird, and are being taken over by Royal Farms, there are plans for major renovation. Inside is a statement protesting the takeover which I cannot find it online. The Cashier is from Baltimore and he says all the Royal Farms locations have panhandlers which is a false statement. Many of the Royal Farms are in locations good for panhandlers. The two northbound gas stations before the beltway. Have a better price for gas. I would welcome royal farms, chicken tenders, and coffee. read more

I have gone to Beltway Car Care several times since moving to Silver Spring and I have yet to be disappointed. My stepfather is a retired taxi driver so I always run repairs by him and ask him what price range to expect. The quotes they give me are always within the range he suggests. As a woman, I'm always expecting to get scammed, but as of today, I am not worried. I took my car in to get the air conditioner fixed. The gentleman who works behind the desk called me several times to give me updates. He told me it wasn't a leak, which would have been more expensive/ extensive. The part they needed to replace ended up being less than $10!!! I ended up paying about $100 for the part and for them to run the tests, which is very reasonable. I arrived this morning a few minutes before they opened and a woman was in line in front of me. One of the mechanics had started on her car before opening because he knew she was on her way to work. I asked her what she thought of Beltway while we were alone and she only had positive things to say, so I know I'm not alone in my opinion. When I thanked the gentleman over the phone for being the kind of car repair place a woman can actually rely upon, he said "Well, those other places don't tend to stay in business long." I think Beltway will continue to be around for a while. read more

Let me start by saying this review has nothing to do with the customer services. Like everyone else has said, the guys that are here are really great. However, the $422 I spent for a diagnostic, labor, thermostat, and coolant did not fix my problem. It feels like it's close to 115 outside and also in my car. I can't drive around the rest of July and August like this. I plan on going back on Monday to see if they can get to the bottom of the issue. If they can, I will gladly change my review. As I said above, if the very good guys could get to the bottom of the issue of my AC I would change my review rating from a 1 to a well deserved rating which is a 5! My AC is back to pushing out good cold air and I no longer have to sweat on my way to work. Highly recommend these guys! read more

Took my motor here for the Md inspection. They are no longer a Chevron, but still do everything they did before. A big banner urging everyone to Vote for Bob Ehlrich was hanging outside. They don't seem to worry that dyed-in-the-wool Democrats might also want gas and servicing, and somehow I like that integrity. Big signed picture of Sean Hannity inside. I don't think these guys made it to the Rally to Restore Sanity / And or Fear last weekend. Their work was fantastic, quick , reasonable and efficient, Took a bit longer to check my brakes, and I was worried they would hit me with an add-on, but the brakes passed. When my new car needed a Maryland inspection certificate, a coworker recommended the "Christian Chevron" garage, so nicknamed because of the Bible quotes posted around the garage, its website, and added to the signature lines of emails from the manager. I sent the garage a message through their website to ask about costs, time involved, etc., and I got a very prompt email response and voicemail. The manager I dealt with, Kevin, was very nice and upfront about costs. At the actual inspection, there was no pressure to fix this or that or pay for any extra services, which was much appreciated. Don't let the preachy billboard signs keep you away. These guys have made my life easier so many times. You can drop your car off whenever (I've done it at 3 am) and repairs are done quickly. They can believe in whatever god they want if they keep my vehicle running. They remember your face and name after about two times of going to them, and not that I'm sensitive to the point that I need a mechanic to address me by name, but it always helps, neh? I don't know anything about cars and I'm a born skeptic. Yet for some reason I feel safe handing them my car and letting them do what they do. Call it a gut instinct. Only thing is that I can't remember their current name, as they've often changed banners in the last few years. So save the number because it might be hard to look up otherwise. Be careful when bring your car to this place. I brought my car here for the inspection. It took for more than two hours but I saw the mechanic didn't really work at all. He was chilling around. Finally, he told me that my car didn't pass because of small leak of oil. I asked them how much for repair they quoted me for $1200. I told them that I will be back to fix because I got a meeting at work later today. The manager also told me that he could get my car inspection pass if I pay for the repair first and come back to fix another day. I went back to work. Then he called me again to tell me that he could give me the certificate right away and I have to pay up front for the repair $490 first and go back to fix my car at 4pm same day. Please aware if you have same situation like me. Report to state inspection to let them know. This place is un-trustable. read more

I have taken my car here for the Maryland state inspection as well as a regular servicing for a problem noted during an oil change at Meinekie who would have probably ripped me off. I feel that Beltway Chevron is fair, honest, and does a good job fixing cars. They work fast and communicate well. They also have 24-hour drop off and pick up so it is very convenient to have work done on your car and not have to take off time from work or other obligations. read more

I don't often give out 5 stars, but this place deserves it! My 2004 Toyota Echo needed some exhaust work done - and the Maryland State Inspection. Last week I got a quote for the exhaust system that was almost $1400, so I decided I had better get the inspection now and find out what else I needed - and decide if I was even going to keep the car at all. David at the desk is helpful, courteous, and honest about pricing and how long the work will take. When my inspection came back he told me what the car needed, and even told me which of the repairs were simple enough to do at home and save a few $$$ - even double-checked when I said I'd rather just have the shop do it. And when I said I was going to get my tires from Costco he was honest about whether or not he could match their pricing, and didn't push me to get them from the shop. The waiting room is clean and pleasant, all the mechanics are friendly and courteous. Best of all, I came in expecting to need $1500 or more of work and they told me all I needed was a gasket and a few other minor repairs - less than $300 total including the inspection! The inspection here is $80 - more than some other places, I know. But because I had the repairs done here I didn't need to get a second inspection to prove I passed - and the repairs were done on time, when they said they would be. I'll be coming back - and would recommend them to anyone! read more

I've taken my 2001 Honda Accord here the past couple of times that it's needed work and will definitely continue to do so in the future. Their prices are extremely fair, usually right on target with estimates on Google, if not a little lower. As other women have posted, I appreciate that they've never tried to rip me off, and also that David at the front desk is clear and thorough in explaining the work that needs to be done without being condescending. They are pretty quick and even when my car needed major repairs I got it back within a day. The mini-mart is open 24/7 so you can pay and get your key at the register outside of auto shop hours if needed. Highly recommend! read more

Three years ago, on a previous car, I had a coolant light come on. At 10pm. On a Friday. Clearly, I panicked. I had gotten gas at this station in the past, and recalled that they were open 24hrs. I headed there in hopes the cashier was slightly knowledgeable about cars and could help me out. Unfortunately, the cashier didn't know much about cars... but her brother-in-law, who is one of the mechanics, did. She used her personal cell phone to call him and ask him about my problem--and even proceeded to offer me her phone so I could talk to him about it. At 10pm. On a Friday night. I was in awe of this level of customer service, almost unheard of nowadays. They may not be the cheapest gas in town (and, yes, the Christian/Republican signage can be a little off-putting), but they know what it means to offer a service and care about the customer. Whenever any of my friends in the area have a car issue, I send them there. I can't speak highly enough about them. read more

I recently moved from Massachusetts and needed to get the MD state inspection done to register my car in Maryland. I went to Beltway Car Care because of the positive reviews found here on yelp. My car failed the inspection. They told me I needed two rear signal lights. They said the lights were an easy fix, about $5 for the cost of the lights and about $40 in labor, which seemed outrageous, but whatever. Not a big deal. Then they told me that my rear brake pads and rear rotors needed to be replaced, which was going to be much more expensive. This seemed very odd because my rear brake pads and rotors were replaced less than 10,000 miles ago. Apparently the brake pads were measuring at 1/32 in. but they needed to be at 1/16 in. to pass inspection. And the rotors were "rusted". Very unlikely given the time since all of those parts were replaced. Then they told me that my oil was extremely low, so low that it wasn't even registering on the stick. The man I spoke to said this wasn't an issue for inspection, but he just thought I should know. And while they were doing all the rest of the work I needed for inspection, maybe they should add some oil as well. I told this man how odd the oil issue was because my oil had just been changed about a month earlier. I asked him if there was a leak. He put me on hold for a minute to speak with the mechanics and came back with, "Oh yeah, there must be a leak." Strange that this wasn't brought up earlier during his laundry list of issues with my car. I told him I didn't want them to make any repairs, and I would pick up my car after work. I immediately called another garage, after getting a good recommendation from a friend, and what do you know...my car passed with no issues. I didn't even need new rear signal lights! I suspect they saw a woman come in alone with out of state plates, they knew I need the MD inspection certificate to get my car registered, and they assumed I would trust their mechanics' inspection report at face value. I will be filing a formal complaint. read more

I just want to say customer service here is AMAZING! I'm surprised the mechanics don't have wings on their backs they are so kind and friendly. Not only that, but these are the most honest mechanics I've ever encountered. Took my car to have the brakes inspected at another shop. Was advised my brakes were completely shot and needed to be completely replaced. I wanted a second opinion and took my car here and explained the situation. They took a look at my brakes (for free) and told me that only my back brakes needed to be replaced. The front was perfectly fine! Wow...so glad I came here instead of trusting the first place! My first 5 star review... I was taking my car to get a safety inspection in order to register it in Maryland. Appointment was made easy over the phone. It took them under 1 hour to check my car and they found some issues, which they explained to me in a way I understood. They told me to get the rear shocks fixed and they would reinspect it free of charge. One week later I take it back in and they looked at it in 10 minutes flat, free of charge. I got my certificate and was extremely happy with their service! Professional, friendly, respectful and great customer service. I am definitely taking my car back here (and not the dealership!) whenever I have car issues. read more

Came here for MD inspection. Dealt mainly with David who was friendly and explained the whole process. My car ended up needed 2 tires replaced but he put no pressure on having them replace it but encouraged me to find the best deal. I was able to get a couple tires for cheaper at Radial Tire down the street and was able to return to finish my inspection in the same day. The honest nature and reassurance to do what works best for me makes me sure to return next time I need any work done. Also after I picked my car up, I went to wash my windows because of horrible pollen buildup obscuring my back window. There was no washer fluid in any of the window washer stations and Mario (as far as his shirt said) noticed me looking for washer fluid from accross the parking lot and walked over to fill all the window washing stations at the gas pumps. It's a little thing but being aware enough to notice what I was looking for and jumping right in to aid me speaks volumes, I felt very appreciative! read more

The folks at Beltway Car Care are true professionals. Everyone you deal with is courteous. In particular, the receptionist is well-spoken and knowledgeable, so when you call asking when you can get an appointment or how much an oil change costs or something else routine, you get the feeling that they actually want your business (unlike at some other places I've been to). There is a nice little waiting area for you to sit in---it is small but very clean and professional looking. It's easy to get an appointment and the prices are very competitive. I've never had to wait long to bring my car in. The station is located right off of beltway Exit 31 in a BP gas station so it's very convenient. I've had my alternator replaced here and had my oil changed. To show how they go above and beyond, they even fixed my front fender where the panel had gotten hit and was sticking out about an inch for free and without my even having to ask. I've very impressed with the level of service at this station and am happy to take my business here. read more

I had a flat tire and brought my car here for them to patch my tire. Let's just make a long story short and say that they patched it when they shouldn't have and I ended up with a flat tire AGAIN. It turns out the hole was on the sidewall of the tire which you are NEVER supposed to patch. I ended up at Merchants Tires in the end where they sold me a new tire and put it on for me. The only good thing about all of this is I got the $40.00 (also, seriously? $40 to patch my tire? Rip off!) back from them when I went back in and told them the story. I think they should have known better than to patch the sidewall of my tire. read more

DO NOT GET AN INSPECTION HERE. I took in my car which is only 18 months old to get a state inspection. Since my car has barely been driven and is almost brand new I expected to pass easily. However when I returned the mechanic took me to my car and shook it car repeatedly to inform me my car had loose strut mounts. They didn't seem loose at all but i didn't argue and agreed to get it checked out. However when I took my car to the dealership not only was I told that strut mounts can't become loose but that they were perfectly fine. In fact, brand new just like the car. I called Beltway back only to hear a rude response. The mechanics at Beltway do not know certain vehicles and I wasted $75 on a bum inspection. I ended up just getting it inspected elsewhere and passed everything easily. Do not get an inspection here. They will look for problems your car doesn't have. read more

I wonder if we all went to the same place...I went to Beltway Chevron a month ago for the MD inspection and I didn't see any preachy billboards. However I did go to the woodside diner about a block away which Paul M mentioned below so I'm sure I went to the right place. First and foremost the MD inspection is one of the most corrupt exams out there and if I had a choice I'd move from the DMV area totally because of it. How can you have independent mechanics giving a test, where if you fail they can gain financial benefits. The people at Beltway Chevron said I needed to repair struts which I had fixed three months prior. The total estimate for the repairs I needed to pass was over $3000. I went to another repair shop and got the inspection done, spent $600 on repairs and that was that. Beltway Chevron you need Jesus! read more

Whoever answered the phone (I believe the owner) was an absolute jerk! I was planning to purchase a car and needed to have the current owner to bring the car in to make sure that it would pass a Maryland inspection. I asked if the shop could simply call me to let me know the results of the inspection and the owner refused. I stated that I was a bit confused as to why the owner could not do this, and he replied, 'there is no confusion, I will not do this.' The next place I called was more than happy to do this so the loss of business is on Chevron. If it weren't so conveniently located, there is no way they would have so much business. I should have known better from the constant Republican propaganda they have on their signage, but I wanted to give the owner of the car a location that was convenient from the beltway. My husband and I have avoided using them for gas since we moved here and they have only solidified our disappointment with this experience. I took my car here for a Maryland state inspection after reading other reviews on this site that reflected what I found to be true about Beltway Chevron: they are fair, honest, and provide good customer service. Their nickname of the "Christian Chevron" is apt: their waiting room (actually a bizarre little RV trailer on the side of the building) is filled with conservative magazines and a Bible on the table, and the TV only gets FOX News (I'm not kidding--it's like the Twilight Zone). But, I can deal with the smack-you-over-the-head conservative atmosphere in order to have the peace of mind that my $80 car inspection didn't require hundreds or thousands of dollars in bogus repairs. As a side note, don't miss your turn getting into the parking lot or you'll spend way too much time finding a place to turn around. read more

The guys here give good service, explaining and showing you exactly where the parts are worn and need replacement. I came here for a safety inspection. As far as I know they did not try to push unnecessary repairs on me. There is also no pressure from them to do your repair there once they give you an estimate.
