Will try to take advantage of you. You know those cliche car service shops that recommend you purchase a bunch of unnecessary services/parts and are dishonest? Yup, this is one of them. Took it in for an oil change - they call and recommended a bunch of fluids and a tire rotation. I just did all the fluids myself and just got new tires - all a little more than 5,000 miles ago. So the only thing that was due was the engine oil. Ive been doing all of my own car maintenance for the past 15 years but recently moved across the street at a complex so no garage and changing oil in the parking lot is prohibited. To make matters worse, the oil change was more expensive than the Toyota dealership, which is known for charging top dollar, comes with an inspection and an OEM filter. Could have been my local shop I go to for all my maintenance needs but now I'll never return. read more

Remember when air was free? Well, it still is at this gas station in Chevy Chase. In a day when everyone tries to nickel and dime you it is nice to find a place where customer service is number one. Not only is air free, the service guy will fill your tires for you. They even still offer full service at the pump. Do other stations still do this? This is overdue. Back on April 26 / 27, I pulled into this station to put air in my spare, which was on the car at the time (free, which is unusual and very convenient). While doing so, the stem broke, releasing all the air, so I had no choice but to leave the car there. Having heard that this station can be pricey, I was expecting to be charged an arm and a leg for repair or even worse, be told it had to replaced for even more. I was pleasantly surprised when they called me the next morning and said a new stem was put in for a reasonable $25. read more

Then this dude who was working there came out and helped me check my air pressure, like just being helpful. I looked around to make sure I was still in 2019. and I was. So I'm driving down Connecticut Avenue when I lose my breaks. The red emergency brake light is on, I need to slam my brake pedal to the floor to stop the car, and it makes some odd sound in my left front tire when I stop -- almost like that part of the car is going over a rumble strip. I don't think I've panicked that badly in a long time -- I'm in the middle of traffic early on a Saturday afternoon, and I'm staying down in Virginia (I no longer live in DC, sadly enough). And I can barely stop my car. I see the signs to the station coming up, and I manage to get my car in and stopped (thank God for stick shift cars). I go in, clearly shaken, and tell Mario -- the manager of the service shop -- what had happened. He has cars in line. He has business galore. My suddenly showing up must have tossed his schedule seriously out of whack. And it was an hour before quitting time on a Saturday. Within fifteen minutes, my car was in the garage, up on risers, and his men were fixing it. I got a coffee next door and tried to stop shaking. Just before 2:00, the car is done -- the brake line in one of my wheels was loose and leaked all the fluid out. So they refilled it, fixed the line and sent me on my way. And here's the kicker -- they didn't charge me a penny. I know I was pretty freaked out when I showed up at their garage doors, but I would have happily paid for labor, parts, time, fluid, saving my sanity and calming me down enough to where I could stop shaking. And I also know that he got behind schedule because of me. To fix my car on the spot, and to do so free of charge? Unheard of. If I'm ever back in the area -- I'm going here for gas and service. If my Maryland friends are ever looking for car service -- I'm sending them here. Holy cow. Five stars, and I wish I could give them more. HIGHLY recommended. I had a flat tire and pulled in next to Lake Liberty. The tire shop was closed but the guys working the station offered to put the spare time on. Unfortunately, the spare tire was missing. They offered to replace the flat tire the following day. I called someone to come get me but he couldn't get there until after the business closed at 10. Lake Liberty didn't have a key drop box but the really nice guy - sorry, didn't get his name - offered to stay there until he arrived. What a nice thing to do! The next day, they replaced all 4 tires, took my credit card info so I could arrive after they closed and all is good. Both guys working that night couldn't have been nicer. Great service. read more

Service manager said "well bring it in". I said "great but do you have time for it today?" and he said in a really surly tone "I just walked in the door five minutes ago. The service station side of the house is really great - Their guys are actually interested in helping you out, and even in 'drop-in' situations...I recently had a cut tire situation and they were quick to respond, removed the tire, examined it, and told me the best place to get it patched since a plug wouldn't cover it - and refused payment of any kind for their troubles. I remember the customer service being excellent there when I lived in Bethesda in the '90s, and apparently it remains at a high level. read more

This place is a found treasure! Twice I have gone in and they have helped me without trying to rip me off. I walked in told them my car was making a noise and one mechanic knew exactly what the problem was. My splash guard had to be tightened (I went to NBT and they forgot to tighten it) and it was making a lot of noise. They fixed it and didn't charge me. I of course gave the man a cash tip. I hit a pot hole coming off the beltway. The car notified me that I needed air in my tire about 1/2 mile down the road. It turned out that I blew the tire and I needed a new one. They called around to find me a new tire. I drive a rare, high end Audi and they could not find the tire. I had to have it towed to the dealership in Silver Spring. They must have made a dozen calls for me looking for the tire and a tow. My car was parked there for over three hours and they were very accommodating and helpful. I felt they were really trying to help. They did not charge me at all. Nice people and solid service. read more

I took my car in with a flat tire and they were happy to change it for me. It took a turn for the worse when the lugs for the spare weren't there and the young man used the regular lugs which were too long ruining the wheel. THis could have been a disaster but not here. John got me a ride home and worked tirelessly to get the parts to repair the damage at no cost to me. When the car was ready they even delivered it back to my house. Sometimes it's not how you perform a service (which they do excellently) but how you manage when something goes wrong. These guys have integrity and skill and are what neighbors like me count on. The new tire had to be ordered but was delivered to their shop early the next day. They were able to fit me in right away and had the new tire replaced in under an hour. This is an old school gas station . So nice that the air is free . Just s nice courtesy instead of trying to find five quarters . Prices slightly higher but it is made up by correct diagnosis . On servers occasions had something needed a true mechanics to diagnosis and they did the job. I would give a five star but manager always seems like he is in a bad mood. I went to this place based on yelp reviews, and for the most part, Sean and the staff lived up to the reputation. I went for an oil change, and was out within an hour of the appointment time. They checked the tires and everything, bringing a small repair I need to my attention. The only negative thing I have to say is about pricing, the oil change/lube cost $70, which is a bit steep, but then again this is the DMV. read more
