Inside, is a small artisan coffee roaster who sells perfected coffee. The name, Belux represents owners' names, Ben and Lucy. They specialize in small batch ROASTING and PROPERLY BREWED COFFEE. They sell light to medium beans and serve ONLY coffee here...no food nor over sugared coffee disasters. I had a dopio and Ben kindly added a spoonful of foam for me. It was the most fragrant shot I've ever had. I fell in LOVE. Definitely the best coffee I've had in a couple of years! Belux speaks coffee. This is the only purist coffee retailer I'm aware of in Georgia and am so thankful, albeit 45 minutes drive. Also, they are the only one to offer Gesha outside of a special event. Beautiful coffee shop. A little small with a counter to serve about 6. Very personalized service Don't stop by if you are in a rush, come to sit and enjoy the process and learn a bit about the coffee and the owners. Prices were a bit high but you should know that based on the coffee your choose. It's a place to go for a quiet date or to impress someone. Let me begin by saying that if you're looking for a $2 cup of coffee, you're not going to find it here. It starts at $5 for a 12 oz pour. However, when you get this serious about coffee, it's like comparing Lipton tea to a specialty tea house. We tried a flight of three single origin coffees ($15) each with a unique flavor profile and all enjoyable. Ben gave us the run down of different processing types and a general education about coffee. Also, it turns out they have special events and happy hours. Looking forward to those. It was a nice, educational way to spend a small part of the afternoon with knowledgeable, friendly hosts. I wish I wasn't two bags into a coffee supply already, or I would have bought some on the spot. This artistic roaster shop has a very boutique feel. They offer about 10 or so varieties from Geisha to Blue Mountain to Indonesia S795, all roasted in small batches. I recommend doing the tasting. I did the siphon one. It was quite an experience! The tasting comes with 3 types of coffee. $10 goes toward your coffee bean purchase. The shop owners are very knowledgeable but not pushy. They made recommendations based on my taste profile. They are extremely patient. We spent 20 minutes just on analyzing which dripper would be best for me. What a blessing to have a such a high quality coffee toaster locally. They produce smooth and characterful coffees that run the gamut from every day to high end gesha coffees. Strangely not named after Japanese courtesans (missing i)but after a village in Ethiopia where the gesha varietal was originally cultivated. They have also taken my coffee brewing to a new level. I have invested in the siphon brewing method paraphernalia and taken their introductory class in said method. A cleaner more complex cup is produced, coaxing out layers of flavor heretofore muddied by my paper filter and cone method. They also have great cups and other coffee tools. read more

Welcome to the next innovative idea with coffee- this is a boutique coffee roastery (very few exist in Atlanta and in the US in general, but with a little help in getting the word out into the streets that roasting, and that making this a workshop is possible, perhaps these will show up more in downtown areas). This has a very workshop kind of feel if you like something hands on, educational, and wanting to understand coffee better rather to the next level after enjoying them in various forms, in various cafes. This place shows you the upcoming and traditional forms of preparing coffee (cold drip that takes 8 hrs to use cold water to slowly percolate, infrared technology, drip, and other traditional methods). the coffee beans are sourced directly and selectively chosen for quality. They even roast it in a large roaster once a week if you ever want to schedule a time to come in and see a large machine roasting green beans. The business model is to educate, encourage roasting/brewing at home, and to have a more get together kind of feel for those who want a more hands on experience. Good for large groups- not a place to come and do your work in the corner with wifi like cafes Coffee 101: 1. Dimensions of coffee: I'll let Ben and Lucy, the owners of this cafe take care of the rest of explaining this concept, but coffee comes in many layers of flavor, as most coffee brewers know. Darkness vs. concentration. Darkness measures how long and how "burnt" a cofee is roasted. A medium roast, is harder to obtain b/c it is less inherently a less robust roast than a dark roast- but skill wise, it is much easier to roast a bean too long and get a stronger burnt flavor than it is to artfully create a robust but smooth blend, which is what mediums are known for. Concentration measures how long the grounds are steeped for. 2. Brewing methods: coffee comes in different aromas- Something that is more oily and heavier tasting is likely brewed in something like infrared or a french press- without a paper strainer, the oils stay. It is amazing how if you add a drip coffee method in, you can remove such a dimension and the coffee tastes differently altogether. This is what makes a coffee workshop fun- for those who want to play around and learn how coffee is brewed and how flavors are achieved, you want to come here and fully appreciate what goes into a coffee in dimension, concentration, and darkness. This place has a cold drip that takes hours to percolate all night. there's the infrared. Drip coffee is becoming a big thing in the US. 3. Types of coffee- they have Indonesian, Colombian, blue mountain etc. All the coffees here are highly premium in quality and price. They even sell the aparatus and educational methods so people can go home and learn how to make quality coffee. read more

I've found it incredibly difficult to find great beans in the Southeast and low and behold, Belux is right around the corner! Lucy and Ben were so delightful, knowledgeable, and helpful when I walked in. Truly passionate and knowledgeable about their craft, but definitely didn't look down their noses at me like some of those hipster roasters in town tend to do. I opted for 12 oz. of organic Bolivia coffee and wow, SO SMOOTH! It's truly amazing, even 20 minutes after brewing (I'm a sipper). Most certainly on par with Stumptown, Crema (Nashville), and Counter Culture, and certainly better than Just Love and Batdorf & Bronson. BONUS: They gave me a sample of the 8-hour cold drip they had just made. Oh man, delish. If you love (or even just really like) coffee you just gotta check them out and buy some beans!! read more

We love this new place! The owners are super friendly and knowledgeable. They source and roast their own beans, including the finest quality Geisha coffee beans from Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda estate. You can find brewing equipment from the basic Chemex to a fancy Syphon. They also offer regular tasting events and brewing demo.
