Ben Thanh is by far the most white washed vietnamese and thai restaurant ever. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. My boyfriend loves the 303 vermicelli bowl, it has everything, pork balls, spring roll, bbq pork, veggies and of course vermicelli noodles. Everything is fairly priced. The food is catered to a more caucasian crowd and is less authentic. I still really like it. I am not a fan of the service, as the servers always bring your appetizer and main entree to you all at the same time. They also never seem to want to refill your drink. Once the place gets busy, the service gets worse. The downtown and fanshawe park location are the best in service while the white oaks location is severely lacking. read more

Ordered the pad Thai, Singapore noodles and pho. The pho was decent. However the disappointment is with the pad Thai, it was pretty much noodles and premade pad Thai sauce. Read pad Thai is not red. Plus here were hardly any peanuts or vegetables. The Singapore noodles also had no vegetables mixed with it. Seems they are cheap with fresh ingredients which make the biggest difference. read more

Very disappointing experience. Ordered spring rolls, cashew chicken and coconut rice. Spring rolls were okay, found the batter too thick, cashew chicken was a bland, gelatinous mess and there was no discernible coconut flavour to the rice! Can't understand why this restaurant is so popular! If you want great Thai food, make the drive to Ingersoll and visit Mango Salad! Superb food and atmosphere! read more

Love the food and the service .... but we went to the York street one today after visiting the Wellington one and seeing it was closed because it said it was open Every day 11-10 but when we got there we were disappointed because it was closed. :( hopefully the website will be updated. :) read more

Great food, classy atmosphere, great services and reasonable prices. Perfect place to go out with friends or on a date. Some people have complained about the bathrooms but for me, its not terrible to have to walk down the some stairs and around a corner. Yet, I can see the point of a few of those that have reviewed as this being a problem, after all, free tea refills lead to more frequent trips downstairs :P Overall, I continue to come to this location. read more

A very retro Howard Johnsons like decor. Friendly but super slow service. Menu was incredible--well illustrated. Quality of food was very good. Portions good size. Plating good. Did no t inform enough about levels of heat. Msg in everything except the Pad Thai. A little skimpy on the amount of protein in several the dishes. Dessert was very good. Tried this restaurant on the weekend and loved it. Our favourite app was the vegetarian spring rolls with avocado...really fresh tasting, served with a sweet dipping sauce. Wontons stuffed with cream cheese and veggies also very delicious. I have had better Pad Thai...the flavour was excellent, but the noodles were all clumped together as if it had been sitting a while. The mango fish was another winner...crisp lightly battered fish with mango julienne served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. We will definitely return, and give the highly recommended PadThai another try. Service was fantastic...helpful without being pushy and with a great attitude and sense of humour. read more

The food here was bland. the spring rolls where the only half decent part of my experience. I had the Pad Thai with beef and the beef was rough and overcooked. When we approached the waiter with our issues we received no help. I have been in the past and it was okay, But as a result of the poor customer service, and bland flavours I would advise that you go elsewhere. read more

Have been a visitor for years and have never had a bad experience. It was the first time my friend had ever had Viet-Thai and luckily his apprehension was quickly replaced with excitement when he saw how extensive the menu was. Our server was prompt, our meals prepared quickly and even during the lunch period on a Saturday we didn't feel rushed. I'm very forgiving with restaurant grading, but this place is garbage. 1- They brought water to the table with significant left over dishwasher crap... in both of our cups! 2- Chilli garlic chicken was nasty... rubbery chicken 3- I ordered drinks when first got in, and didnt get them until after we were done... i told them no need for it anymore and the server demanded i accept it and pay for it... no way WORST OF ALL!!! 4- The stupid manager owner lol... I asked to talk to her to explain that there were issues, and the first thing she blurted out was "No refund, you have to pay for it"... i didn't mention, ask for, or was seeking a refund or exclusion to the bill. The worst restaurant owner by far! Nasty Pad Thai, tasteless Singapore noodle, Questionable general Tsao chicken On a positive note... their deep fried wontons were good. Super not recommended! We have eaten here twice and every dish is inventive and delicious. The red shrimp curry was rich with tamarind and other blended flavors. I would recommend trying things you might not normally think to order. read more

Mediocre at best. Our watiress was friendly, but it looked like corners were cut - food quality was very poor. The "fish" in our green thai curry was really just some batter with a tiny bit of fish inside. Stairs leading down to the basement washroom were unpleasant. Food portions were as small as the food portions at the Mississauga Banh Thanh were generous. The Mississauga Banh Thanh was awesome (we were regulars,) however, had to close due to insufficient promotion. We won't be returning to this London location. read more

I had the Pad Thai deluxe for lunch and it was not good at all. The noodles actually tasted old; kind of like rice that had been sitting in a cupboard for a while before they were cooked. It wasn't spicy either. I was very disappointed as my coworker bought me lunch for a special occasion. I will say that their restaurant is lovely and the service was, good our order was ready five minutes after we arrived to pick it up. read more

My experiences have been up and down at this place. I've had good experiences with their pho (although for condiments, they could give more than just bean sprouts and lime wedges as I usually expect a chili pepper, thai basil, and culantro or sawtooth herb). Their bun (cold vermicelli) can be ok but more often than not, I've found the food to be quite greasy, especially their spring rolls. To give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps I've only been there on off days. But each time I have been there, I've also found the service to be very rushed, hurried, and kind of haphazard (3 words I would sometimes use to describe their food). Not a place I'll be running back to although I can say that their shakes and smoothies have consistently been excellent each time I've eaten there. read more

Came to the York Street Location for dinner tonight. The service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress was not only impossible to track down, but when we did finally get a hold of her, she was rude. She walked away while one of my friends was mid sentence and ignored the rest of us. She was impatient, cold, and not helpful. She did not check on us throughout the meal, and the restaurant was not busy. Such a shame, as I usually love eating here, but cannot get over how horrible there service was at the York Street location. read more

I was quite disappointed with Ben Thanh. Last may I did an educational stint in London and i thought Thuan Kieu Near oxford and highbury had a much tastier pad thai which compared to some of the best dishes i had in NYC. At sun fest yesterday the pad thai from Thaifoon was also good. The beef pad thai at Ben Thanh was skimpy on the beef and it was pretty tough to boot. There was no apparent taste other than oil and a little spice (unless that's how authentic pad thai is suppose to be). The mixed vegetable coconut sauce seemed to be nothing but some flour, water, and spice. I would not recommend Ben Thanh when there are other superior places for Pad Thai in London. read more
