Didn't realize until the next day that it is listed on Texas Monthly magazine's Bucket List of 63 Things to do in Texas. (It's number 13, appropriate for a spooky cemetery!). Previous reviewers are correct -- the historical significance and uniqueness of this cemetery has to be seen. Over 130 years in existence. I seek out old cemeteries to photograph headstones. I also seek them out in search of old trees (oaks or anything unusual) so I can collect seed. Abandoned or neglected cemeteries are also a place to look for antique roses. Took several pictures and uploaded them to accompany this review. It was a hot 100 deg F when I visited but will definitely be back for more research.

This cemetery was a trip back in time as I read the history on many of the grave markers. The city did a great job preserving the cemetery as the economy grew around the sacred grounds. Parking can be a little tricky, but the location is easily accessible once at the cemetery. What I found amazing was the one marked as a Confederate soldier captured in a Union P.O.W. camp. They did a wonderful job and made sure to always keep us updated and encouraged us to contact them if we had any issues or wanted to update anything. The pricing seemed pretty reasonable to us and they never pressured us to look into the really expensive stuff. The room for the actual service was not very large, they have chairs instead of pews, we did have to order some chairs to sit more people and they put a sash around them to make them look nice. They look at their job from the families point-of-view instead of just a business perspective. Over all, they did a really good job and I can't think of any complaints.

If that is not the rudest, most hateful thing you can tell a person who just lost their mom. This is supposed to be a colleague of mine. I would never ever say anything so hurtful to anyone in my life. I met Christie K. Moore at a professional training. When my mother passed on 03/31/23 I contacted her to help with the arrangements. I met with Myeshia and paid $12,0018 for the arrangements, travel to Tulsa, and the burial plot. When we go to the graveside gazebo, my mom was already there waiting on us. After the celebration, they put my mom in a white van that had trash inside. They drove her to her final resting place and pull her out of the back of a white van with trash on the inside of it. Every funeral I have attended had a hearse, but my mom was pulled out of a white van with trash. At no time was I told the service car would be a van. I spoke with the man who came from Texas and said, why wasn't my mom in a hearse, why you pulled her out of a van? This is terrible. He said, "I am sorry, if you wanted a hearse, I could have gotten you one." Why wouldn't I want a hearse, it's a funeral. They were not packing meat across state lines. I then sent Christie a message about my embarrassment and heartbreak the same day of the funeral. She responds we can talk, so on today, we talked. I told her how I felt and that I couldn't sleep because it was so disrespectful for my mom to be in the back of a dirty van. I also stated Tulsa was my mom's hometown and I was so embarrassed. I told her, I can only bury my mom once, we can't redo this and I feel very embarrassed because this is a funeral and we did not expect nor were we told that she would be in a van. She again said I am sorry, we believe in excellence, etc. At no time, did she offer any refund or anything, just an apology. When I asked what would you want to happen if you were in my place. She told me. MY MOM IS ALIVE, SO I DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD FEEL. If that is not the rudest, most hateful thing you can tell a person who just lost their mom. Wade took care of my dad after he passed in February of 2016. As requested, my dad was to be buried a few hours away in central Texas. They loaded him up in their SUV and we started the long trek to the burial site. I had horrible anxiety at the time about driving long-distance on the highway so they accommodated me by taking the beautiful scenic route through the backroads which was such a comfort to me. And funny story: my mom (my dad's ex wife) got pulled over 5 minutes into the drive for expired registration. My dad was a prankster so I know he would've gotten a laugh out of this. The Wade SUV pulled over and went to speak with the police officer and asked him to let her go because this was a funeral procession for a loved one. They did let her go with a warning but it was so kind-natured of them to intervene for the family in mourning. They seemed very protective of us. Would highly recommend them.

But he "forgot" to get any of the papers - even though I stressed to him Many times how important that was. I was coming in from out of town so I really needed to be sure to get the copies. When I arrived to Dallas, I sent an email to Kevin which was ignored so I drove over to Wade Funeral where Kevin was no where to be found and no one knew anything. So I sent another email that got ignored. Finally when I'm called again, I was told no copies Of the obituary were available because he forgot. Isn't this his job? Now I wish I would have placed the obituary myself and ordered the number of papers I needed directly from the paper and I advise you so that. Because now I don't have what my Family asked of me. And Kevin and Wade's Funeral Home don't care and will not make it right.

I will be posting about this so here's my review! So run as fat as you can away from there. It looks like they have shut down comments on their page so you can only do them if they review them 1st another huge red flag why NOT to do business with them!

Getting a marker put on my mother's grave has been met with excuses and delays. They have our money…read moreand she is in the ground, we are completely at their mercy. Mom was buried in November '21 she is, as of the beginning of this week she is still in an unmarked grave. We were initially told it would be 6 months for a marker to be made, supply issues etc... The option for a temporary marker was never presented by the Funeral home. As a funeral home, it's is their responsibility to offer, not ours as a grieving family to think to ask. One poor review on another site, 6 months after interrment, and they offer to put a temporary marker out, and tell us it will be another 6 to 8 months to get a stone marker. This would have made my mother have an unmarked grave for 12 to 14 months had we stuck to their timeline. We have decided to use a different company than the funeral home offers to get a headstone. That company told us 6 to 8 weeks, not 6 months. I won't even get into the shenanigans they pulled and threats that had to be made in order for us to get our money back to buy a marker from a different company. No family should have to go through this. Emerald hills really dropped the ball on this one.

Everyone was, without exception, so professional, yet had so much compassion in their dealings with us. I would never have guessed how many funerals were actually being handled at the same time. An outstanding presence at Biggers , beginnning to end, is the outstanding gentleman, Jason Rand. From our first contact, he treated us with not only respect and patience, but he began to feel like more of a friend than a funeral director. He was understanding in our family meeting when we were making initial arrangments, he asked all the right questions, he had great suggestions (AFTER listening to various family members' varied concerns) and even knew just when to say "think and talk about this, I'd suggest that, but I'll step out of the room, so you can discuss as a famly in private" Funeral Directors are not someone that we want to deal with too often, but stopping by the office for different reasons (dropping off clothes, signing a document, etc) was always somewhat of a pleasure and not the depressing task one would think. I can also add that despite serious health issues himself, Jason was there when we needed him every single time, if not in person, just a phone call away. The actual day of the funeral, Jason was ON TOP of every detail, at our side the entire day nonstop, despite the actual burial being over an hour away. The day ran 100% smoothly and all thanks to him for sure. When it's your family's time to face this difficult time, our family heartily recommends Biggers and Jason Rand in particular.

The larger funeral homes quoted $3000 due upfront. Brown Family creamatory worked with me to care for my mom at a third of the cost. They made me feel at ease with caring for my mom. They kept me updated the whole time while waiting for doctors to finalize medical records. They were concerned about caring for the deceased in a respectful and dignified manner as well as answering any questions. They also have a funeral home on site for other sevices. I would recommend them to any one regarding afterlife care regardless of budget.

This funeral home handled the services for our dear friend, Billie Brownlee. They did a great job…read morein every respect. To begin with, Billie looked like she was asleep in her final resting place....especially important considering how sick she had been. The casket was beautiful, the visitation was nice and respectful and the graveside service was perfect overall...again, especially considering it was done at 1:00 pm on a hot day. Everything was handled professionally. I know the family and all her friends appreciated this wonderful send-off to such a sweet lady. Condolences to all her family and friends!
