One I've done several funerals in. I reached out to the owner himself, someone I thought knew me and actually cared. His response? He passed me to a sales rep, who simply emailed me a pricing sheet. Wow. But when I contacted Lucas Funeral Home, the response could not have been more different. The receptionist, recognizing the pain I was in, reached out to the owner, Jim Lucas Sr. Still recovering from surgery, he came in person to meet with me and my son. He hugged us, he wept with us, and he -- along with Doug Jones and Melissa Robinson -- cared for my son, daughter-in-law, and precious granddaughter with dignity and compassion. That's the difference: being treated like a number versus being treated like a soul. As we entered, our temps were taken, which made people feel comfortable about gathering. Often, given family dynamics, events like this can sometimes cause contention. In spite of this, The staff at Lucas, managed a very well coordinated event, and do so in a beautiful facility.

Wade took care of my dad after he passed in February of 2016. As requested, my dad was to be buried a few hours away in central Texas. They loaded him up in their SUV and we started the long trek to the burial site. I had horrible anxiety at the time about driving long-distance on the highway so they accommodated me by taking the beautiful scenic route through the backroads which was such a comfort to me. And funny story: my mom (my dad's ex wife) got pulled over 5 minutes into the drive for expired registration. My dad was a prankster so I know he would've gotten a laugh out of this. The Wade SUV pulled over and went to speak with the police officer and asked him to let her go because this was a funeral procession for a loved one. They did let her go with a warning but it was so kind-natured of them to intervene for the family in mourning. They seemed very protective of us. Would highly recommend them.

But he "forgot" to get any of the papers - even though I stressed to him Many times how important that was. I was coming in from out of town so I really needed to be sure to get the copies. When I arrived to Dallas, I sent an email to Kevin which was ignored so I drove over to Wade Funeral where Kevin was no where to be found and no one knew anything. So I sent another email that got ignored. Finally when I'm called again, I was told no copies Of the obituary were available because he forgot. Isn't this his job? Now I wish I would have placed the obituary myself and ordered the number of papers I needed directly from the paper and I advise you so that. Because now I don't have what my Family asked of me. And Kevin and Wade's Funeral Home don't care and will not make it right.

The larger funeral homes quoted $3000 due upfront. Brown Family creamatory worked with me to care for my mom at a third of the cost. They made me feel at ease with caring for my mom. They kept me updated the whole time while waiting for doctors to finalize medical records. They were concerned about caring for the deceased in a respectful and dignified manner as well as answering any questions. They also have a funeral home on site for other sevices. I would recommend them to any one regarding afterlife care regardless of budget.

To begin with, Billie looked like she was asleep in her final resting place....especially important considering how sick she had been. The casket was beautiful, the visitation was nice and respectful and the graveside service was perfect overall...again, especially considering it was done at 1:00 pm on a hot day. What should have been a respectful and comforting final farewell was instead an incredibly painful and distressing experience for our entire family. First, the presentation of my sister was completely unacceptable. Her makeup was poorly done and looked terrible, failing to reflect her true appearance at all. To make matters worse, the clothing her husband provided for her was noticeably dirty. The entire presentation looked like a complete rush job with absolutely no sense of care. Seeing her handled with such a lack of basic dignity was devastating to witness. Furthermore, the conduct of the staff during the service was deeply disrespectful. Our family was actually asked to move from the seating area where we were already gathered just to accommodate another family. Forcing a grieving family to relocate during a service is completely inappropriate, thoughtless, and entirely lacking in empathy. They completely failed my sister and our family.

Everyone was, without exception, so professional, yet had so much compassion in their dealings with us. I would never have guessed how many funerals were actually being handled at the same time. An outstanding presence at Biggers , beginnning to end, is the outstanding gentleman, Jason Rand. From our first contact, he treated us with not only respect and patience, but he began to feel like more of a friend than a funeral director. He was understanding in our family meeting when we were making initial arrangments, he asked all the right questions, he had great suggestions (AFTER listening to various family members' varied concerns) and even knew just when to say "think and talk about this, I'd suggest that, but I'll step out of the room, so you can discuss as a famly in private" Funeral Directors are not someone that we want to deal with too often, but stopping by the office for different reasons (dropping off clothes, signing a document, etc) was always somewhat of a pleasure and not the depressing task one would think. I can also add that despite serious health issues himself, Jason was there when we needed him every single time, if not in person, just a phone call away. The actual day of the funeral, Jason was ON TOP of every detail, at our side the entire day nonstop, despite the actual burial being over an hour away. The day ran 100% smoothly and all thanks to him for sure. When it's your family's time to face this difficult time, our family heartily recommends Biggers and Jason Rand in particular.
