Had a great experience with these guys/gals. I wanted to get out on the river real bad but didn't really know what my options were. Called them and got voicemail, but they immediately texted me back asking if I was interested in a rental. We ultimately talked on the phone and I learned the different options between a river float, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding. Because my dog and kids (5 & 7) were in tow, we decided to rent a couple paddleboards and leave the dog with the grandparents. Their friendly staff delivered the paddleboards right to Drake Park and we went out for 2 hours, going upriver to the rapids and back. All in all, a great experience and we'd totally do it again. We were met promptly and owner helped us load the boats on our rental car, gave instructions on how to load and unload without damaging the car. Also received great recommendations on the best places to paddle and how to get there. On return they unloaded from car and offered local dining recommendations that were delicious! Danielle was great work work with. Reserved kayaks on Tuesday for the following Sunday. Then changed my reservation on Wednesday to add another kayak. I then received a call on Thursday that my father was rushed to the hospital and in the ICU. I called to cancel my reservation late Thursday and didn't know what to expect. I was lucky enough to work with Danielle and the Bend Kayak School for an event in May. Their instructors did an excellent job working with our event members. They were very professional and highly skilled. As many of the participants were new the to sport, they took notice and immediately assessed their abilities to keep them progressing at their various skill levels. The thought of being upside down in a kayak is not a calming one, and with instructors, right there in the water with you, it really takes the pressure off. I was even able to participate myself and the students learned so much that they were able to teach me the skills that they just picked up from the lesson. She gave us an on-land lesson in paddling and offered specific tips on what part of the river to paddle to avoid snags and optimize our time. About to embark on my maiden kayak voyage, I found Bend Kayak School and chose them to rent me an appropriate seafaring vessel. They certainly delivered! A couple quick notes: 1) SUPER friendly staff, though it's actually the folks at Skjersaa's Ski Shop that you'll be dealing with. These guys were kind, helpful, and didn't laugh at a couple of idiotic things I did that made it crystal clear that I'm the dumbest of noobs. They had us ready to go in no-time flat. 2) Unfortunately, nowhere did I read that the kayaks we'd be renting would be psychedelic-patterned sit-on-top kayaks. I had just assumed we'd be renting something a bit more enclosed. We got a lot of funny looks and curious criticisms from others on the lake. Maybe they offer the other kinds, but I didn't know enough to ask. 3) Back to the amazing staff. Our first day of kayaking was sort of a bust b/c of weather and other obstacles. When we brought the kayaks back, the guy said that they didn't need them for the next day and that we could have another day of fun free-of-charge. It was an incredibly gracious offer that I absolutely appreciate. I wouldn't go in expecting this type of deal, but it goes to show that they're good people and dedicated to customer service. Any future trips to Bend that includes rentals will include stopping by Bend Kayak School and Skjersaa's Ski Shop. They're awesome. read more

I rented a paddle board and it was a very straightforward experience. While I expected to meet at a store, this is a mobile shop so we met near a park and she helped me load the board and gave me some great tips on securing it without damaging my vehicle. We met at a new location on the return so be sure to watch your texts when you get back in cell reception, we took the board up to the lakes. I just auto piloted back to the original meet up location only to find she was helping other customers 5 minutes up the road. This was by far the simplest and fastest board/boat rental experience I have done to date. read more
