IF YOU SUFFER FROM TMJ & CHRONIC MIGRANES: This review is for you! I started seeing Dr. Megan McConnell in July of 2021. After struggling with severe TMJ and chronic migraines for the last 6 years, I was at an all time loss and frustration after failed physical therapy, poor night guards, and many medications. My sister suggested I visit her chiropractor, and after hearing her rave about how amazing Dr. McConnell is, it was a no brainer to try anything to ease the pain of my TMJ. The first time I visited Dr. McConnell, I was blown away with her knowledge, insight, and overall caring attitude when it came to my main areas of concern. The best thing I love about her is that she wants to find a solution, not one of those chiropractors who just wants you to come in weekly "because you need to". She actually cared about wanting me to feel better and overall ease out how often I needed to see her as my jaw healed. From day one her goal with me was to create sustainability and proper alignment of my jaw, ensure correction, and find a solution to ending my TMJ problems. After weekly jaw corrections, neck and upper back adjustments, not only did I see improvement in my TMJ symptoms but also my chronic migraines! I averaged about 16 migraine episodes a month and now I average about 4 per month. I used to have jaw flare ups to the point my face would be swollen and I would have to eat smoothies for at least three days, to now I haven't had a flare up in a whole month and a half! Dr. McConnell suggested it was very important to keep sustainability with my jaw by getting a proper night guard from when I clench and grind my teeth at night. She referred me to her dentist (which happens to be right behind their office), Dr.Toche. I was able to see Dr. Toche and get a custom night guard that supports my jaw and protects my teeth at night. He was the first dentist to sit with me and show my x-Ray of my jaw and mandible bones that were thinner than the average person and how this interferes with the movement of my jaw. Without Dr. McConnell, I would still be suffering from my TMJ! I feel happier and healthier than I've ever been, and it really is thanks to her amazing advice, knowledge, and willingness to be patient with my jaw. I am so thankful for her and how much she has gone out of her way to help me. I would highly recommend Benicia Wellness Center to anyone who may struggle with TMJ. I had a much needed massage, and chiropractic treatment today. I have to say that it was a good experience all around. Office staff were friendly, helpful and polite, and super nice folks. Everyone was punctual, and attentive. The facility is clean, well organized, and still being safe in these Covid Times. They get an A++. AJ listened to me carefully as I explained my ailments. I communicated that I liked a deep massage, and he got all the tension and knots out of my body with a perfect amount of pressure. I swear he could read my mind. The best massage therapist has the technique, but a good amount of empathy, and ability to read his client's body and reactions and adjust. This was the best massage I've had in years. AJ gets an A++. Dr. Jamie was also an awesome listener and patiently asked questions, listened to my story, and examined my range of motion and areas of concern. She suggested a path of treatment and adjusted as we went along. I feel like I have an energy flowing through my body that was stuck prior to my appointment. I've seen Dr. McConnell for a few sessions now, and we have seen a pretty great improvement in the movement of my neck/shoulder/arm/back! I have been working out a lot, so the muscles in my upper body have been quite tense. To the point where I couldn't even really lift my arm above my shoulder. I think it's great how I could talk out what I'm feeling, and she gets right down to the bottom of it. There is a huge comfort to my body, when I go in. Also, a couple of times, I have had a couple of deep tissue massages from Rose right after i see the doc.:) Rose knows how to get into the sore muscles, and how to stretch what needs to be stretched, so she could target what hurts with her massage techniques. :) The communication of procedures between the two is really helpful. For the first time I received a chiropractic adjustment along with a new treatment/technique- Graston. My right shoulder has been a tight bumpy mass as long as I can remember. I would request the hardest amount of pressure for every massage I've ever had. I was hoping someone would have an ice pick and a hammer. :) Though I'd had no specific injury, the doctor explained how you can still have scar tissue from chronic tension and inflammation. Dr. David Arreola is a true, modern day, miracle worker! After a year and a half of suffering terribly with plantar fasciitis in my right foot, I was referred to Dr. David by a friend. I had spent hundreds of dollars on all kinds of contraptions - you name it, I bought it - boots, compression socks, foot rollers, shoe inserts and lots of Advil. I tried 16 weeks of physical therapy where they did massage, stretching, electrical pulse therapy, cupping, etc... all to no avail. I was an active 54 year old and worried that I would never walk pain free again. After 3 weeks of treatment with Dr. David, I began to notice a marked improvement. It is now 2 1/2 months later, and I am to walk with very little or no pain. I am back to exercising and walking 5-7 miles a day, just as I did before the injury. Dr. David and his ART therapy, along with proper stretching and foam rolling, have fixed my foot!! He assures me that I will get to the point where I have absolutely no pain at all anymore and I have no reason to doubt him! I've come so far already in such a short time! Dr. McConnell of Benicia Family Chiropractic has been a real lifesaver for both my husband & I! We are dog walkers and without her, we would NOT be able to do what we do! Highly Recommend!! I first came to Benicia Chiropractic because of a wonderful massage therapist who works there who gives the best massages I have ever had for very reasonable prices. Her name is Anouk. Down the road, I was having very bad back pain, and started working with Dr. McConnelll, the chiropractor. In 2 sessions, my chronic back pain was completely corrected, I was pain free! When going over my general health, Dr. McConnell noticed I was very tired, consuming diet coke in large quantities, and complaining of chronic fatigue. She speculated that I could be suffering from adrenal fatigue, and that she treats people successfully for this. I took an adrenal activity test, and was in the very lowest leve lfor adrenal activity. Dr. McConnel is helping me get off caffeine, supervising a cleansing Paleo diet, given me wonderful supplements to re-balance my hormones, and strengthen my adrenals, is helping me regulate my sleep cycle, and encouraging regular exercise and a balanced work life. So far I have lost 30 pounds, am eating very healthily, and have much less fatigue even though I am not following all of her terrific recommendations yet. I have successfully quit drinking large quantities of diet coke, which is huge for me. Dr. Mc Connell is very kind and sweet, quite knowledgeable, and highly skilled. The office manager is great, they run on time, and they are very professional. I am going to call Anouk, my favorite masseuse, because I want another massage!!! Back in 2004, I was injured due to an in-home invasion robbery, where I was beaten. I began having debilitating headaches that the medical doctors felt were stress induced.
