Went to Benihana tonight for my husbands birthday. The food was HORRIBLE!! We have been here many times pre-Covid and it was good! Went to Hibachi last year and it was Ok. Tonight however, no HIBACHI but restaurant seating and HORRIBLE!! Not only was our food COLD but much LESS than the usual serving and not good. Very poor service and the dish-ware was dirty. I don't know if it was due to Valentines Day but I asked the waitress to return my dirty plate for a clean one and she brought back another dirty plate. The chef arrives at our table and repeats the table order. I ordered the Trio with chicken fried rice for an extra 3-4 dollars. The chef puts rice on my plate without the chicken. Had to tell him twice. Needless to say by the time I got the chicken my rice was cold. The last time I was at a Benihana was over 20 years ago in Manhattan. I was disappointed with this visit. I was looking forward to the fried rice and the rice had no flavor whatsoever. We went for some sushi on the good reviews we received. The non hibachi area was empty yet we waited 10 minutes for the girls to stop talking about their cars. It started out with water that tasted like a cellar, and finished with a 42.00 bill for 3 items, one was ok, one was not that good , and one , a tuna takaki (?sp ) was terrible . I must say this benihanas was great. I don't know why there reviews suck! I had an amazing dinner. I first started of with an amazing refreshing drink. Omg, prefect amount of liquor and fruitiness. I did not want to be squished in with a table of 8 and they accommodated me and gave me and my husband our own habachi table and chef !!! Omg, so awesome! The food was amazing and cooked perfect with their magic garlic butter!!!! Chef Mario was a sweet and funny talented chef. My fried rice was cooked perfect and so was my filet and lobster! The green tea ice cream (or you can choose which flavor) was the best ice cream I ever ate! It took those after eating taste away. The food! THE FOOD!!!! it's amazing. I ate enough for like 4 people. And i still wanted more! It's great how they prepare it in front of you and make a whole show of it. I love bringing visitors here to show them this great spectacular show. Their fried rice is divine! Also, whatever ginger dressing they put on their salad is magical. The staff is friendly and helpful! Most of the time there is a wait to be seated, but it is well worth it! Very disappointing. Really no atmosphere. The waiter assistant (drinks/salads) spoke so quietly we had to repeatedly ask what he was saying. The service was painfully slow - but the check came super quick. The cook seemed bored, really did not put on the show we came for. I've been to hibachi many times and I know the routine, but this chef didn't entertainment us at all. Also, some pieces of my chicken were not fully cooked, the lady next to me said the same about hers. Never again. I'll stick to Arirang for any future hibachi dinners. read more

We called in an order for a pick up. While enroute, we recieved a call that our order was ready for pick up. We informed the restaurant staff member we were 10 minutes away. Upon entering, I stated I was coming to pick up an order. Fifteen minutes later and asking for the third time, my order came out and reviewed. Bartender was our server , who was so busy, he forgot to give me my soup and salad that comes with my meal. We were seated pretty fast (considering no online reservations there). Once we sat down we ordered our appetizers and food. We ordered two shrimp tempuras, but only got one thing of dipping sauce (I don't know about you but I believe two orders should get two things of sauce). Immediately after the rest arrived (salad and soup), this didn't really leave us much to eat. About two minutes later the hibachi guy arrived to cook the rest of the food, but at this point we had not received one of our drinks or had gotten a chance to eat anything. The salads had very minimal ginger on them, when normally you get enough to actually cover the salad. We explained our issues to the manager, but he did not care much and said it should be that fast(customer service, am I right?). The hibachi began to cook, but they completely forgot the white rice and only gave the fried. Everything else was cooked well, however I feel they could do a way better job. For a franchise restaurant you think there would be a standard of service to customers, if we aren't happy you should try your best to fix that. read more

I'm someone who enjoys Benihana's every once in a while. This trip to Benihana's was very decent! We only waited around ten minutes to be seated as a party of four with a reservation so that was perfect. Our waitress was very obviously new but she was sweet and helpful so she was perfect, as well. Our chef was so much fun! He was interactive, played around with us and made our food perfect to order. I'm giving this review four stars because the amount of time we had to wait for our waitress and then our chef and everything between turned what should have been a 90 minute visit to well over two hours. When we asked a manager for for help he disappeared to talk to staff we had to get our own to go boxes and then waited another 30 mins for dessert. Management didn't really care to help. Typical hibachi experience but a little overpriced. There is an extensive menu and plenty of options for hibachi or kitchen items. Every hibachi order comes with a full 5 course meal- onion soup, salad with ginger dressing, hibachi shrimp appetizer/hibachi vegetables, steamed white rice (fried rice will cost you extra), and your main order. I ordered the hibachi scallops and asked if I could sub out the white rice with an additional serving of vegetables, but the waitress said that it would cost an additional $6. In terms of the hibachi cooking itself, our show was nothing special- our hibachi chef was not very interactive with us and it wasn't as enjoyable as other hibachi experiences I've had in the past. He did give us additional food, but this is common in any hibachi restaurant. Would not recommend going out of your way to eat at this place, but if you're within the area it is a good option as you have the mall across the street. read more

I recently moved to the area and I've been to Benihana's before at the Westbury, NY location and I must say this location cannot compare. I visited this location last Saturday and was appalled, we were seated to filthy plates at the habachi station, when I informed the waiter he seemed annoyed or perhaps tired of hearing the plates were filthy. He brought out replacements plates with an attitude. And handed over sticky, wet menus to follow. I had a question on the menu as the hostess mentioned something abt a special Valentine's Day menu being offered that weekend, when I asked the waiter abt the special menu he shrug and stated "this is my first week I have no clue". In short the waiter was inattentive , drink and food orders were messed up , other parties at the table were aggravated. It was a terrible time , I will never return to this location . What's sad is the place wasn't even busy it was a Saturday afternoon and very quiet yet the service was terrible !!! The Chef was pretty good but also confused as the waiter provided him with incorrect orders , he did his best to entertain the table but everyone was already disgusted by the service. Advice to management hire ppl who actually want to interact with guest, clean up the place a bit the floor was filthy, wipe the tables , the chairs are old and sticky, plates and utensils were disgusting. read more

My first time coming to Benihana, I heard a lot about the experience & can honestly say they live up to their claims. From the service to the food. Drinks were really good! The chefs put on a really good & fun show, & not to mention the food is delicious. But the best experience was definitely the server, his name was Anthony. If you can request Anthony I suggest you do! He actually cared about the table, not just worried about the tip. He checked up on us & We never needed refills because he always made sure our cups were filled. I will definitely be coming back for the steak & shrimp ! read more

Sadly we didn't get the Hibachi style .... as the wait was high we had to go for the restaurant part. And may be due to that the cost was bit less than expected.... Pros: Good food Cons: You should know their policies before you enter! It was my husband's birthday. Since he wanted to eat Japanese food, we arrived about 7:45pm. Disappointment began when we gave the cake to the receptionist and asked them to bring it after food. She right away said that we cannot cut the cake in their restaurant!! She also added that we have to order ice-cream if we want to celebrate a birthday. When you order ice-cream, they will sing "Happy Birthday" in Japanese & English. When we asked why we cannot cut the cake, she said, "It is our policy. Since it is a privately owned franchise, the policies are different from other Benihana's anywhere." Japanese food wasn't anything new to us. We have been to another Benihana, Shogun and Hibachi restaurants earlier. The food was good. We took our kid to show him how they cook food in front of us on the grill, serve them real hot while showing some tricks with their tools. Throughout, the kid was excited about the fact that there will be fire and tricks at the table. To all our disappointment, a non-japanese cook appeared. He started with a trick of rolling the egg and he failed. So, he did not do any more tricks but just cook food. It was all grave for a kid with expectations. Anyway, the food was good and hence the 3 stars. Wish I could give more stars. But there are a few things that I think are worth mentioning. You cannot bring & cut your own cake. They sing Japanese "Happy birthday" or wish only when you order ice-cream from them. That's crazy. To add, their service is bad. Guess, this is what you get in a chain restaurant. In most restaurants, waiters ask about dessert after you're done with food. This one was different. We waited for everyone to finish eating, so that we could order some ice-cream. No waiter showed up, so we went to the receptionist and asked how to order ice-cream. She replied, "You should have told us before you were seated about having ice-cream". Anyway, I should give her some credit, coz she went in and put the ice-cream order for us. We waited for about 10 minutes and the ice-cream did not show up at the table. We went to her again and asked for ice-cream and after about some time 1 cup of ice-cream arrived!!!!!! Clubbed with songs in two languages, one of which was Greek & Latin to us. Another waiter, looked Indian, took a photo of ours with our uncut cake and gave us a copy of the photo which we can download from their website as well. Well, I can give her a star but not to the restaurant. We returned home with the birthday cake. We cut it at home around 10pm, ate it and went to bed. Wish they could do better next time. Train the front personnel in how to handle customers requests and not tell them, "This is a privately owned franchise and so we have different policies than other franchises." My husband and I went here last night for dinner before our movie (1.5 hrs before the movie started). This place has gone downhill the new menu is very confusing. We wanted hibachi so we sat down. And it took the waitress 10 mins to come to us and serve us our drinks. Also, she did not clearly tell us that we have to pay extra for hibachi rice that they cook for you. Also you pay extra for it ($4 per person). Then she didn't put the order in correctly and when they hibachi cook came , he had to ask her to bring extra noodles. Also, we didn't get mushrooms or seasoning for our food because she did not add it to the order for the chef. It took her at the end to give us our checks (20 mins),. For hibischi for 2 , it cost $80 !!! What a rip off!! Mahzu , 15 mins away is sooooooo much better and reasonably priced. read more

Extremely disappointed. I had minimal hopes for this restaurant given the prior reviews and, therefore, bypassed the hibachi and ordered sashimi. The fish was extremely thin and there was no yellowtail. I was, however, excited that I was given a double portion of salmon (my favorite) only to realize it was smoked. i really hate to write a bad review when the service was good but i have to. i've been to a handful of hibachi places where i feel okay with being such a hard critic. first off, the decor to this place is great. it was very nice and there's even a fancy bar place to chill and watch the games. we went on a sunday night and the wait was 10 mins. not sure why because there were so many empty tables, this place is bigger than some hibachi places i've been to. anyways, i got the shrimp and NY strip steak. it was good but nothing spectacular. i know that they do add butter to almost everything but i need more flavor than that. i believe it was just basically butter, soy sauce and a bit of pepper on the food. you get one zucchini, a bow of rice (not completely full), some onions and sample shrimps. i had felt like the portions aren't as generous as other hibachi places i've been to and the flavors aren't comparable to those other places. unfortunately, we had ordered the special combos or whatever that was a little bit more expensive with small additional items like tea and ice cream. tea was never offered and i had to ask for ice cream lol. our waiter was pretty nice but it kind of felt like he just finished his first week on the job. our chef was friendly as well but the hibachi performance was a snooze fest. barely any show or tricks that had our attention. i was falling asleep as he had slowly cooked our food. i had to eat the food separately (zucchini, fried rice, onion, shrimp, then the protein) in that order. the chef was so slow i couldn't enjoy my meal together. i don't think i would return here as the prices are pretty high for the quality of the food and performance. there's just too many options in the state that this one does not interest me to return. thank u, next. read more
