We wanted something Asian tonight and this was the first place we came across while walking in Clifton Hills. The restaurant is located above an arcade. We didn't have a reservation. It was a Saturday but we were there around 6 o'clock so it was kind of early for dinner. We got sat and we ordered our food and the show got started. There were four of us and the bill was $446 Canadian. They charge gratuity automatically. The food and the show was just "ok". Everyone loved the fried rice but it's an extra $5 to get it. I don't think I will ever go back. There's a Japanese steakhouse in Fort Wayne Indiana that does a better job. We were on vacation and wanted to give the girls an experience and they loved it. Normally, a person can enjoy lunch for around $45.00 usa dollar (per person) LOCATION: 4955 Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 3N5 The prices at this location in Canada by the Niagara falls are a robbery. I spent $332.89 USA Dollar approximately $456.62 Canadian Dollar for lunch for 4 people. (NO alcohol was consumed) we had two sodas and two waters) two chicken lunches, one steak lunch and one shrimp lunch. (*NOTE: this location charges an (NFDF) I paid $25.84 to eat at this location, please understand that the restaurant does not tell you about the NFDF fee until the end. The food tasted the same as it does back home, the chef was nice, but in the past the chef's at Benihana's are always nice. I truly feel this location takes advantage of the reputation Benihana has, by attracting consumers that know the name and reputation and then over charging. I truly feel that this location has a price markup of like 200% of the average Benihana's. I wish I would have read the reviews before we decided to dine there. We had literal sticker shock when the bill came. I didn't appreciate the $60+ in added fees/tax we were surprised with at the end of the meal. The food was good but it is grossly overpriced. A $300 bill for two people with 18% gratuity added added was a shock. Be careful!

Located in the thick of Clifton Hill, it's easy to miss this spot - you enter an arcade, go towards the back, go to the second floor and now you have arrived at Benihana. The hubby and I love Japanese hibachi steakhouses, so we were looking forward to a good time and good food. We joined a table as the final two needed to complete the table, we were greeted by the server pretty immediately and we quickly ordered our food. I wanted scallops, but this location does not have scallops, so I got shrimp only and paid the extra fee for fried rice (I'm used to the fried rice being included as part of the entree, without fee). The hubby wanted steak and chicken. We didn't see that as an option, but knew that they had both items on the menu, however even though shrimp and steak could be paired together, somehow it cost extra to pair chicken (cheaper than shrimp) and steak together, the hubby also ordered fried rice as he did not want white rice. The server brought out the salads with the standard ginger dressing for everyone and then the soup. The server dropped the soup when she was serving me and it all spilled into my lap. She helped me clean it up and apologized. She brought me a new soup and I moved on, although I was expecting the manager to come over or something, my fellow patrons at my table were much more concerned than the server and the restaurant were. The salad was fresh and crispy, but I did not care for the dressing, it was too tangy and strong. The soup was quite good. The chef cooking the food in front of us was great, he was funny and his cooking and performance were entertaining. The food however left something to be desired, my husband's steak was over cooked, the yum yum sauce was not yum yum sauce, I don't know what it was, it was thin and watery, it was disappointing. The fried rice was just okay. Both the hubby and I were bummed because we were looking forward to good food and a good time. I don't know if the server was avoiding me because she spilled the soup on me, but she did not refill our waters or check on us. We had to ask for help from other servers that passed us by or grab our actual server when she walked by. When the bill dropped, I almost passed out, certainly the touristy area is expensive in Canada, but our bill was over $160 (US)! We didn't order alcohol, I had one protein as opposed to what I consider the standard, two, service was poor and I got soup dropped on my lap. When we paid, I did speak to the manager and told them about the soup incident and she communicated that she knew and that the server felt bad, I was surprised as I felt like as the manager she should have come over to me and apologized OR at least discount our check. When I asked for something to be done to our check, she did oblige and took $20 off, which took us to the $160+ I originally stated. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this location, the service and the food are poor and it's ridiculously overpriced. I will say Japanese hibachi steakhouses in the US are so much better. read more

They charge 18% gratuity in your bill. I usually tip more but it upset me my party if 3 was charged automatically. They also charge you a fee if you aren't from Canada around 10% which also upset me. Wouldn't recommend bc of their hidden fees. read more

Manager came by and offered Kate her 2nd glass of $17 wine but didn't offer me anything with an empty beer glass in front of me. $5 upcharge per person to plop the pre-cooked rice down on the cooking skillet and add $0.50 worth of chopped frozen vegetables into it...AND A 17% GRATUITY AUTOMATICALLY ADDED TO OUR BILL!!!! The food was great, service was ok, but this place will rob you blind. I went with my wife and son. We had no alcoholic drinks, no appetizers, just 3 meals with soft drinks. The bill came to $385 Canadian. When I saw there was a weird NF Fee, I inquired. I was told it's a fee to cover Niagra Falls expenses such as fireworks over the falls, police shutting down roads for events etc. The manager also said all of the restaurants in the area charge them. No where in the restaurant, on the doors, on the menus does it disclose there are these fees. I went to a popular RF cafe in the same buikding, a pizza place across the street and at least four other restaurants in the Clifton Hill District, and none of them charged this fee. Only Benihana did. They are robbing people blind, preying on tourists. Avoid it if you can, better and cheaper food is only a mile away in Niagra Falls. read more

Benihana, one of the most wonderful family chain restaurants in the US and Canada...however, we didn't even show up to this meal. Reserved a month in advance for my sons 7th birthday. 8 of us to be exact. When I couldn't find the prices on their online site, I dug deeper and managed to find one that a reviewer posted 7-8 months ago. I was absolutely SHOCKED to read that an adult chicken meal was $76+$5 for fried rice (rice with some soya sauce) And $30+$5 for a kids meal. Ultimately our bill would have been close to $800 with tax/tip etc...Thats absolutely insane for a family friendly resto. At the end of the day, this resto is taking total advantage of tourists.
