Salads and marinated pork/beef all-you-care to eat @ Niku Japanese BBQ/ Niagara Falls, ONT.
    Susan S.

We arrived for a midweek lunch and we were seated immediately. Although it's an all-you-care-to-eat format, there are some important considerations. Firstly, at lunch the time limit is one hour; at dinner the time limit is 90 minutes. Mid-week lunch it's $37.95; at dinner midweek this becomes $44.95. Weekend dinners are $54.95, and the menu for dinner is much more extensive. We were told it's possible to order a dinner menu at lunchtime for the upcharge. (The dinner menu has things like marinated lamb, and sake-marinated clams.). The one hour limit begins to feel oppressive; the opposite of hospitality while having a celebration lunch. Who knows if the limit is enforced? The restaurant is decorated with lithographs of cats and rabbits in samurai costumes. It's bright and clean and well air-conditioned. We really enjoyed the side dishes to the meal: The kimchi was well-balanced, the seaweed salad crisp, and the Hokkaido potato salad was creamy, and full of peas. They complimented the grilled meats really well. The waiters work as a team, and they made sure our drinks and plates were kept full. It's very family friendly.

Great food, great selection, very good service. Plenty of food for everyone for the buffet, service is fast and food is fresh, everyone had a great time and price is very reasonable. The place is nice and clean with many tables, very family friendly.

Everything was amazing for our first visit! The staff were super nice and polite, and the food was great. Definitely a solid spot for AYCE KBBQ in the area. The servers were really attentive, and overall, I'd absolutely recommend it!"

We always come here after visiting Niagara Falls. Honestly we're more excited to come here than actually going to see the falls. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. This place is an all you can eat for a variety of meats that you have to cook yourself. They also have a variety of appetizers and deserts too. Make sure you order the fondue at the end :)

Was looking for dinner in the Clifton Hill area and we saw the high reviews for a Japanese bbq spot near our hotel, so we had to give Niku a try! We walked in around 7pm and were put on a waitlist. We were told it might be an hour wait so we explored the area till we got a call from the hostess to let us know our table was ready (only ended up being a 20 minute wait). From the menu, we got a variety of beef and seafood. These tasted high quality! Also tried the bibimbap which we found was just average. The service was very attentive throughout. Unfortunately for dessert there were no Melona bars left, we had ice cream instead. I would say this bbq spot is comparable to Gyubee in GTA with better service in my opinion. Also, card is accepted here!

First time ever trying Japanese AYCE BBQ and holy moly this did NOT disappoint! Our server was Jorge and he was absolutely phenomenal, highly recommend! He knew exactly what we needed and was not holding back -- we started with what we were used to -- beef brisket and short rib, but after noticing what we left behind (some fatty parts), he recommended the boneless marinated short rib and prime angus, then we went onto the lamb, which was good, but very meaty so make sure you cook it all the way through. If there was any downside, it was the fact that we had to cook the stuff ourselves. Being from Jersey, I'm used to everything being done for me, so that was a bit of a bummer (lol). Afterwards we were on the fence about dessert, and Jorge was not taking no for an answer! He brought us everything on the menu! It was the best decision he made. All small portions, which we were very much okay with and my husband ended up ordering another portion of the cheesecake because it was so good. My favorite was the little campfire setup with a piece of banana, strawberry, and marshmallow with a side of melted chocolate. So cute and very innovative! It was an awesome experience and definitely made the start of our trip extra special. Thank you so much!

Anime fan? Go here! Not an anime fan? Go here anyway! The first thing you notice when walking in are all of the anime inspired art on the walls and the life sized statue greeting you at the door! Very cool and modern. The dinner menu had all the regular Japanese BBQ items but everything was very good and fresh. The food came out quickly and everything we ordered was really good! Shout out to the sake clams (in foil). Even though they take a while to cook, they were really good! Where Niku really stood out to me was their outstanding service. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, and really fun to talk to. He took the time to explain the table side seasoning and soy sauce. He also helped us cook some of our foiled food on another grill since our grill was a little on the weak side. The other staff were also really nice when they brought out food and when we needed anything. I've been to a few different Japanese BBQ restaurants but Niku has to be near the top of the list! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Went here for dinner during our free period for a Niagara Falls tour from downtown Toronto. We had 3.5 hours to kill after a city cruise to the falls. I didn't want to eat fast food or at a chain that had bad reviews. So I found this place with great reviews and was not disappointed! It's a 15-20 minute walk from the view of the falls, but it's worth it and will help you work up an appetite. I believe dinner AYCE price on a Monday-Thursday is $50pp. Not cheap, but just order things that are more expensive like meat. Don't get distracted by the sides. ;) First I want to say that we are visiting from SF. And the service at this spot tonight was the best of our trip so far! And this is the 4th night of our visit so we've been to a few spots. We were greeted right away by the nicest guy. And then our server was super sweet too! A woman also helped us a few times and was giving tables tips on what to order. She even told us we should try the garlic butter sauce with our shrimp, and she was right! So good to dip it in the sauce after it was cooked. We had prime short rib, marinated short rib, prime angus, brisket, pork belly, marinated lamb, kalbi strip, and shrimp for the meats. Sides of lettuce for wrapping, one bowl of rice, kimchi, asparagus, and sauce combo of ssamjang and garlic. Their house made soy sauce was delicious, along with their seasoning. Everything was tasty but my least favorite meats were the marinated short rib, prime angus, and marinated lamb. The marinated short rib just didn't compare to the prime short rib. The prime angus was just ok, nothing that special. And the marinated lamb was tasty but so fatty. I would order the other meats and sides again though. Almost forgot we also had the sake steamed clams (yum) and then finished the meal with chocolate fondue for dessert. Came with strawberry, banana, and a marshmallow. SO simple but so tasty!! Check out this spot if you're visiting the area. It's worth the walk away from the bright lights of that area! Highly recommend.

Amazing place! We celebrated our three-year anniversary here, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were cheerful, attentive, and helpful -- they recommended dishes, answered our questions, and even taught us how to use the grill since it was our first time. The food was fresh and delicious, and the interior looked great. We ate so much, and they even gave us ice cream to take with us -- such a sweet touch on a hot summer day. They also surprised us with an improvised cheesecake "cake" with three candles -- so cute

We are here in Niagra Falls for a long weekend - our first time visiting the area. When looking for a place for dinner, Niku Japanese BBQ stood out when looking over reviews. The staff answered our phone call promptly & answered all our questions before we were there. On arrival, we were greeted and seated promptly. Decor was fun and lively. Tables had nice separations, and music was at a good level to allow conversations yet lively to give Niku a good vibe throughout. AK was our waiter, and he kept the pace at a great level and very friendly. He explained their concept, which is similar to the AYCE Korean BBQ we go to in Las Vegas. Food was delicious - you can not go wrong, and if in doubt, ask the staff. They told us the butter trick for the shrimp to which as modified to include the spice powder. Hits of the night - Grilled Shrimp & Curry Butter Chicken!!!

Came here with a big group. They don't have table for more than 6 people but they seated us together. The service is excellent! From the manager to the servers, very welcoming, warm, attentive, and helpful. It is a self service place that you grill your own food and All you can eat. The meat quality is quite good and the dry mix is very aromatic and tasty. Environment is nice too.

Very good selection of meats, veggies and sides at ayce Japanese/Korean spot near Niagara. They have a kids price for those between 4-12 too which helps for big groups. Loved the marinated meats the most. Wish the service was more attentive. Waited for second round of water for a while. Table also got crowded with plates and they didn't have enough time or staff to clear. But Would return.

Beef platter. Sadly only the two meats on the left (brisket, prime boneless short rib) were good

The place looks like a home that was converted into a restaurant with parking in the back but once you enter, you feel like you are going into one of your Auntie's places for an actual home cooked meal. And they did not disappoint! Each dish was made to order and took a short time but you could tell it was prepared by a chef with a lot of experience and care--just looking at how the veggies were chopped/diced you can see they put their energy into each dish. The flavors were really superb and not at all overpowering and one major bonus--nothing was over salted or over oily as you might think typical Chinese food can get. Our party of 4 loved every bite and finished all our dishes, no leftovers. As you can see in the photos, they make an excellent meal. Prices are also very affordable and competitive with anything near the touristy areas. So if you want a solid, great meal prepared by a true mom & pop kitchen that feels like a home cooked meal, you really gotta try them out. I asked them how business was in summer vs winter and they said it's tough when it's winter (less tourists) but they make it work. It's also nice and quiet/intimate so you can have an actual conversation with your group rather than try to talk over some loud music at a chain restaurant! ----TL;DR---- Pros: excellent Chinese cuisine at very affordable prices and great portions. Not too salty or oily. And super nice, friendly owners who provide great service and great food. Cons: not easy to walk to from the main strip but if you have a car it's an easy drive. Skip the touristy places and come here! Bottom Line: it was the best meal we had in Niagara Falls and everyone was full and satisfied. I'd definitely go back again.

Service was slow and there was really only person trying to handle everybody. We were told to simply write down the numbers associated with the meals listed in the menu because the waiter was too busy and seemed to have limited English. Although the waiter vacuumed the floor by a previously used table he was able to get to bus or clear that table left with dishes from a previous diner. So the ambiance was marred by the lack of staff to clear the tables. We were treated with an extra dish of four hot and spicy dried shrimp and took it home because we were too full to eat any more because we still had some lobster left over.

We tried several of the sides and especially liked the beef carpaccio, the chicken croquettes and the grilled mushroom. We got to try pretty much all the meats on the menu and while they were all good, we really liked the cheese stuffed prime rib, the Hawaiian strip loin and the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Our server, Ashley, was very friendly, helpful and attentive. She repeatedly apologized when there was a lull in meat coming by, though she doesn't really have any influence over how fast things come out, aside from telling the meat-servers what we wanted. We didn't really mind, because it gave us some time to talk and digest before getting more meat. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come back when we're back in the area.

Firstly, parking: It's all free, but the lot adjacent to the restaurant has 20 spaces for a business that seats 200 people. Arriving cars are to wait at the curb outside for the white shuttle to arrive, then follow this to a free parking place two blocks away. Reverse the process to leave. It's difficult to enter and exit a high van in a tight skirt and high heels. Just saying. We arrived just in time to see the 8pm floor show, but the music was so loud I was praying for it to end. To order from the menu for AYCE side dishes, you have to have a phone that can scan the QR code: No printed menu was forthcoming, and the print on my cell phone was too small for my husband to read. The music was so loud it made conversation impossible, so I made the choices. The kitchen had already run out of mashed potatoes, and green chimichurri sauce by 8pm, and they seat until 11pm on Saturdays. I was not impressed. There's a chaotic way the servers with the meats circulated. Some tables were served steak three times while we were never served. It's a $90 per person meal where drinks and desserts are extra, our table wobbled horribly, and we couldn't speak to each other. It was the opposite of hospitality. How loud was the music? I'm writing this the next morning and my ears are still ringing. There are many other steakhouses on this side of town: Brasa, Ruth Chris, STK. Next time, I'll try one of them.
