We have been to this Benihana every August to celebrate my FIL's b-day when we are in town, and this year the food and experience fell short of our usual expectations which was disappointing. The service was subpar and that really is what sets the vibe for the whole evening. We still had fun as a family, but we missed the spark of joy that Benihana usually delivers. Restaurants do have off nights and we are hoping that this just happened to be an off night for them.

What a great place for a group for hibachi! You get to watch the cook make your hibachi entree! I tried the Yakisoba Trio Course meal which came with a salad, soup, rice, and entree. It came with three types of protein: Beef, Shrimp, and chicken. You have the option to pick protein on fried rice too. For allergy option, they offer a separate gluten free, vegan/vegetarian, keto options which is nice. You just have to make sure your food is getting served/made gluten free including the sauces. The presentation of the food was presented in varying degrees. For hibachi your plate was prepared as the food was cooked, and not prepared as a complete plate. For sushi, I would imagine they would come as fully prepared. The cook that made our food had minimal cooking/entertainment compared to the other cooks around, he had the metal spatulas spinning skills, and onion volcano. I would have enjoyed seeing the egg toss into hat and a little more flair. Either way the food tasted great! Since Benihana has been around for a long time, I can see some Of their plate cutlery could use a little updating . Some places didn't seem as shiny so you can see water trace that could question its cleanliness. For the price range of their menu items I would expect a little more on the cleanliness, service, and presentation of dishes. Overall the food was great and wouldn't mind going back for special events.

Benihana Schaumburg delivers consistently fresh and delicious food. Meals are pricier than comparable places in the area, but you get a unique and fun dining experience; a culinary show, of sorts, while dining in a group setting. It's a fun place for a celebration or special occasion. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated on Christmas Eve, despite having a reservation. However, we found a table in the bar area and started with some drinks. Once seated, we were asked for our orders pretty quickly. The wagyu beef was a highlight at our table. The texture, taste and tenderness were unforgettable. I ordered the filet and shrimp meal. (In my mind, you can never get enough shrimp)! Our cook was entertaining and skilled and our server, though seemingly busy and frazzled at times, worked quickly to get us our food. The chicken fried rice is always good and worth a little extra wait to get a fresh bowl in hand. The combination of soy sauce, egg and butter make for a rich taste. In all, a festive meal and good food. I am not sure I would return this late again on a holiday due to the crowds and the wait time.

Came here twice once for dinner and once for lunch. We just made it for dinner arriving at 9:30 and got a last seating. This is your standard Benihana with the same decor and menu. Or waiter both times was great. I love the chicken hibachi with extra butter in my rice everytime! The lunch menu is a bit cheaper making it a great lunch option.

Service was great! The place is nice. It can sit upto 10 people I think but its would be a bit cramp. The food was good. But it was a bit pricey. Drinks were like gold its so expensive! However the steak was cooked perfectly it was the first time ever that i finished a steak no left over. I love my shrimp too. Definitely coming back but not as often otherwise id be broke. Lol Happy eating!

It's a show every time:) It's my niece's favorite restaurant ever since she was little. This location is the closest for her (about 1-1.5 hrs away). And she still gets excited. It also has memories of past family gatherings throughout the years. Clean and modern. Food is good and consistent. Entertaining? Well, as much as I think it's funny that I've seen the same tricks for decades, I do love watching my niece's reaction and that elevates my score to 5 stars. It's also a good feeling to sit around the table with the family. It's communal and work doing ever so often:)

They are so damn greedy! Our bill was almost $200.00 for my husband and I and they are so greedy they charged us for Lemons are you freaking kidding me. We will not be dining here again! WOW we are so appalled SERIOUSLY $2.00 wow you lost a customer for a lousy $2.00

Food: Shrimp appetizer 3.5 stars. Cooked perfectly but needed just a little more seasoning. Salmon/tuna poke appetizer - 4 stars. Came in a glass which I've not seen before. Teriyaki steak - 4 stars. Melted in the mouth. I think a couple more seconds cooking would be good for medium rare. Seasoning was perfect. Avocado salmon was okay, I still have yet to find a restaurant that can cook salmon like a west-coaster... a little dry... needs more seasoning and a little less time on the grill. The sauce better than the fish. 4 stars on the sauce, 3 stars on the fish. Service: This location is better than the wheeling location in my opinion because it's a little smaller, more attention was paid by the wait staff to clear plates as the dinner went on, and I really appreciate that. Ambiance: It was good. A few birthdays happening but not too loud, and just a good vibe.

This place is about a 35-40 minute drive from us, but when the craving hits, it hits! This was our first time here. My husband and I had the BEST time last night. The energy was high, the chefs were the best ever. Every chef made their show memorable, they were personal, interactive, and so much fun. Our chef was no different. He was incredible!!! This place is amazing for families. The way he interacted with the child who was at our table was so fun and cute to watch. You will NOT leave this place hungry. The standard that comes with all meals is soup, salad, shrimp, teriyaki noodles, vegetables, fried rice, and ice cream. My husband ordered the triple combo - ribeye steak, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp topped with the garlic. I ordered the double combo of filet and chicken teriyaki. Everything was cooked perfectly and DELICIOUS! Both of our steaks were juicy and tender and our chef cooked it perfectly to preference. The chicken was juicy, and my husbands shrimps were incredible. The garlic sauce on top is divine. Be warned - you have to be a true garlic lover to enjoy this. It is very strong with garlic which he and I both love!!! But I could understand if someone says it's too strong for them. The service was great - once we got seated, all smooth sailing. We never went without refills, the pace of the food was great, and our waitstaff was very friendly. My only criticism is the front of the house. The place was packed on a Saturday, but you have to have better organization or at least acknowledge people. People walked by us and other parties several times before even saying hello. A simple, hello we will be with you shortly is all you need to do. Nobody was mean in the front of the house or deliberately rude, but it's hospitality 101 to at least acknowledge your guests when they walk in, even if you can't tend to them right away. Our reservation was for 7pm, but we didn't get sat until 7:15 despite our table being ready. This didn't bother me enough to knock any stars off, but I truly hope they make a change with this because I could understand why this would upset someone. Overall, we loved it here and will definitely be back!

After a long day outside, my kiddo asked to go to a teppanyaki restaurant (very niche request, but thank goodness for the Yelp app!) We were thrilled to be able to walk-in and the host was able to squeeze us in at the grill table (which was SO kind of her). We sat with some lovely families at the shared hot-top table and enjoyed our dinner immensely - the food was ok, the chef's presentation was good, and I don't think I have seen my kiddos eat so many veggies ever which may be due to the combo of those two. We got the full chef's presentation that you see at other hot top grill restaurants: spinning egg, onion volcano, tossing of the broccoli to the guests, my kids absolutely loved every second. The restaurant was clean and well run, the servers were attentive and kind, even when my youngest kiddo dropped her drink and it spilled on the floor. I couldn't have been more grateful for their kindness and hospitality: from getting us into the restaurant as a walk-in diner, their wonderful service during the meal, and the good dinner. Eating with 2 young kiddos is always a questionable experience as a parent but I have to say, I enjoyed the meal! If we are in Hoffman Estates, we will definitely go back!

But it just kind of slipped out of my consideration for no particular reason. But today I was driving near there, headed for somewhere else, and it hit me - Bento box sounds good today. And so it goes.. Parking in this small strip mall is usually pretty easy. It is a popular choice for lunch for many people that work in this business area of Elk Grove. I think that is because in addition to the good food, the service is not only friendly, but also very efficient. That allows you to have a nice sit-down lunch and still get back to work in time. They don't rush you, but you won't have to wait long for both the food and the check. Today I did have my delicious bento box, which as others have agreed, is a great deal for lunch. But I also splurged for a "Rock' n Rol" sushi roll, which was quite tasty. My waitress was wonderful - friendly and efficient as usual. But she didn't rush me personally. She even asked me if I wanted tea. In summary, it's an excellent choice for lunch. Good food, affordable, kind people, and a nice change from a fast food drive-thru.

If you're looking for the most authentic Japanese food outside the city, seems like this and a couple other places are all in the Schaumburg/Elk Grove Village area. Highly recommend hitting their lunch menu if you can because the bento box values are so worth it for authentic Japanese food/sushi. We got there at opening for dinner on a Saturday and got there just before dinner rush! This place is such a hidden authentic gem - you can tell from the decor to the choice of seating design to the actual menu and way they cook the RICE and other dishes. They serve the same grain for sushi as they do regular rice (Tamaki gold). Quality is not skipped here. We got the agedashi tofu (must get appetizer, as it's hard to really every achieve at home cooking), house special curry katsu, the beef kurumaya gozen (bento box) (which has incredible tempura, juicy soft beef), and assorted sashimi platter (I forget the name). All come highly recommended and were well worth the price point. I am just a bit sensitive about the freshness of the sushi, but I think this is probably as fresh as you can possibly get with generous cuts outside the city. Everything down to the miso soup too was delicious - best place to take your friends/family/coworkers for an authentic Japanese meal. Parking lot available out front. Recommend also stopping by Tensuke market nearby after!

Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!
