We had the crispy spicy tuna rice, snow crab avocado, yellowtail ponzu, and beef tataki. These were all so delicious, especially the crispy spicy tuna rice and yellowtail ponzu. Everything was beautifully presented too with excellent quality. For our entrees, we got the Poseidon roll, crab pasta roll, amberjack nigiri, and a house salad. Again everything was so tasty with fresh cuts of fish. The crab pasta roll was huge and stuffed too. The portions were definitely on par with the price. Service was great and quick too. The food is solid here and the ambiance is amazing. It's one of their newer locations and you can tell they invested quite a lot into it. The only caveat perhaps with it being a newer location is that our server was subpar. Slow to pick up on cues, did confusing things like take everybody's order but then skipped one person at our table? We were busy talking so we hadn't noticed until he had already left. We had to flag down other servers to get help at various points of our meal since ours seemed to have disappeared at times. As always, Blufish Sushi never disappoints. The food, service and atmosphere is great! We decided last minute to go out for sushi and reservations were easy to make. The table was ready when we arrived and we were seated immediately. Jay quickly recognized me when he was passing by. He is always welcoming and friendly. Our server was great and took our drink orders while we decided what to order. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which came with veggie fried rice, shrimp and veggie tempura, and a California roll and a soup. Spicy Edamame to share. My wife ordered the house salad which is made with a wonton type edible bowl (it is amazing). The Spicy Edamame has that balanced spice. I really enjoyed also, it was not too salty. The Bento box was delicious! The chicken had a drizzle of teriyaki sauce which in my opinion makes or breaks the dish and it made it! The tempura was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was not overcooked. I gave my soup away as I wanted to save room for the delicious fried rice. the portions were good. Also, they modified my California Rolls as I'm allergic to fish and it is imitation crab so it's fish. The rolls were good and I dipped it in a side of teriyaki sauce. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous inside, with an elegant atmosphere and amazing ambiance that made for a great dining experience. FOOD: We started with the scallop hamachi, stuffed mushrooms, and oysters on the half shell. All three appetizers were delicious, but the stuffed mushrooms were my favorite. They were far from your typical stuffed mushrooms. I believe they included crab in the filling, which paired perfectly with the mushrooms. For our main course, we ordered three sushi rolls, and we enjoyed every one of them. The sushi was incredibly fresh, creative, and beautifully prepared. My favorite roll was the Angry lobster. To end the night, we shared the ube crème brûlée and sorbet. Both desserts were fantastic. The ube crème brûlée was rich and creamy with a satisfying crunch from the sugar topping, making it the perfect sweet ending to the meal. This place is gorgeous inside! Unfortunately did not get pictures of the decor but it was all curated so well. I got the crunchy muffy which has melted cheese on top and while it sounds crazy (who puts cheese on sushi?!) it was soooo good. I also got a pickled radish roll which I appreciated for the crunch. I just finished an outstanding lunch here at Blufish with my friend. Although I really enjoy sushi (and I must admit - pretty much all food) I'm mostly used to going to one of my regular haunts, some of which are AYCE. I wasn't sure if this restaurant would be worth it, by comparison. I was pleasantly surprised. We each had the ginger side salad that came with our meals, and we shared a delicious crab stuffed mushroom appetizer. The crabmeat and wasabi aioli stuffing was super flavorful. We also split the angry lobster roll which again, was terrific. He really enjoyed the Chilean sea bass dinner, and I was equally happy with my salmon/tuna Poke bowl. I would consider it similar to restaurants like Nobu but more accessible. The sushi was almost as good as the ones from Japan. I would recommend to get the black cod for cooked food option. Best of all, their menu also clearly label Gluten Free or can be Gluten Free. You can also ask for Gluten Free soy sauce. I'm going to combine my reviews as I have been there twice already and it's only been three weeks. Both times it was delicious and love the fact that they hep make substitutions to the sushi to accommodate those of us that don't eat fish! Last time, we ordered the veggie fried rice, Brussels sprouts, mango madness (minus fish), blossom and sweet potato roll. We also got some sorbet. The second time, we ordered veggie gyozas, Brussels sprouts, mango madness (minus fish), dirty old man (swap shrimp tempura to veggie tempura) and tempura udon (minus fish sticks). The service was amazing! The restaurant gets super busy but you can still hear the person across from you talk. Outside thy do offer heat lamps, so good for a chilly evening. The inside is beautifully designed with a central bar, (2) main dining areas, sushi counter, and private dining space. I loved the elegant finishes they used as well as mix of patterns & textures in the space. To start, we ordered the Lychee Martini and Gin & Tarragonic. The Lychee Martini was well balanced, not too sweet, and very enjoyable. The Gin & Tarragonic was very earthy tasting and gin forward. The notes listed on menu weren't quite what I expected when tasting the cocktail. For food, I got the Blossom Signature Maki which came with a good amount of veggies wrapped in spring mix lettuce. The rolls tasted fresh and bright but could have used more of a sauce element. My husband got the Angry Lobster Signature Maki which tasted as good as the presentation was! Highly recommend this roll! When visiting, we came from running errands and weren't the best dressed. Upon entry, the host told us they only had seats at the sushi counter or bar as a large amount of reservations were coming in. The entire time we dined, the restaurant was less than half full. I questioned if the excuse was valid or if they were trying to deter us from dining in. Once we sat at the bar, George took amazing care of us! He made great suggestions and made sure everything was great. Sadly, the host service simply left a bad impression overall. read more

The ambiance and layout of this restaurant were very modern and chic. A great place for a date or a girls' night out! The service was wonderful, and our server gave us great recommendations. We ordered the uni scallops, Sushi A, and the Supreme Combination. The uni scallops were delicious and tasted very fresh, so we were excited for our entrées. However, we were disappointed. The amount of rice in both our sushi and rolls was overwhelming; the proportions were off. We had to remove some of the rice just to taste the fish. I wish the portions had been more balanced so we could enjoy the fish and rice together. With so much rice, that was really all we could taste. From the get go though, service was mediocre and the food was just ok. I ordered spicy edamame as a starter, some sashimi - salmon, yellow tail, mackerel, and chu toro. Regular edamame, not spicy, came out about 20 minutes after I ordered. And then the sushi another 15 minutes later - no yellow tail, snapper instead. And it was all just ok. read more

This has been one of my favorite sushi spots for years (I'm a big fan of the Glenview branch), and this was my first time visiting this location. The space here feels noticeably more elegant and upscale -- beautiful atmosphere, especially for a special night out. I really loved the vibe. I'm not usually a roll/maki person, but Mango Madness continues to be a favorite for my wife and me -- fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced without being overwhelming. The Blossom presentation with the fire in the center was such a fun touch. It leaned a bit sauce-forward for our taste, but if you love bold, flavorful rolls, you'll definitely enjoy it. Sashimi is usually my go-to and something I really look forward to here. This time, it was served slightly closer to room temperature than I personally prefer. I tend to enjoy sashimi a bit cooler, as it enhances the clean, fresh texture. It may have just been the timing, especially on a busy Valentine's Day evening. One small detail I missed was the colored radish under the sashimi (maybe it's been a while since my last visit). I always enjoy pairing it with the fish, so I noticed its absence. Overall, the staff were warm, friendly, and handled the Valentine's Day crowd impressively well. Modern furniture and decor adds to freshness yet deducts from feeling cozy and comfortable. Skip the booths - they're super uncomfortable and awkward. The hot tea was served lukewarm and only in the third attempt was delivered proper temperature from machine malfunction. The sushi was fresh, though, the amount of wasabi on nigiri was excessive. One of the rolls was very cold so much that it was painful to eat. The soup was flavorful but inconsistent in taste to other locations. There were not enough service staff and the coordination was lacking. Our table remained cluttered with dirty dishes as we watched the empty tables cleaned and tidied. The tuna pieces are cut up then put back together in a ball shape. Along with avocado, tomato and some greens. They have a sweet sause they put on top that really sets it off. We had the veggie tempura with it; the tuna worked great as a dip. Also had the mochi ice cream for dessert. We had to ask to order, ask for water...he never came back to see how the food was, or if we needed drinks. We had to chase him down for the check. He was awful. I've had the inked-sleeve male bartender numerous times and he is a rockstar. Next time, we sit at a table, or move seats at the bar before we let this guy help us again. From the outside of the building and upon entering Blufish, you are immediately taken aback by the stunning decor and beauty of this place. I can say after one meal, this is certainly one of the most elegant restaurants in Schaumburg. I'd recommend the tuna tartare, and most of all, the salmon yuzu truffle appetizer - which was one of the most divine flavor profiles I've had in a long time. All of the fish was so fresh and incredibly delicious. It was getting very late and almost closing time around ten on a Friday night. I frantically run in to see if they're open and manager John greets us and asks if we're hungry and to sit right down at a low table right in front in the bar. Then he comes over and said that the kitchen is starting to shut down and we have to order immediately. No problem since we were limited to fish. They start you with a delicious miso soup and a salad. It was made of iceberg which I love but the dressing was delicious and not dull at all. Basil got black cod which was tasty, I got the Chilean sea bass. That is one of those trendy firm white fish dishes. Anything but typical here and the sauce underneath it would make others want to slit their damn throats. You haven't had it till you had it here. Now that I think of it I don't think I even came up for air. Iced tea in bottles, don't turn your nose up that it isn't fresh brewed. Blackberry sage republic of tea. I got 2 glasses filled with ice out of it. Basil got the decaf ginger peach and liked mine better. In the meantime Adam our waiter slipped in and I told him we eat and run. He smiled and told us to take our time. After scraping our bowls we shared a green tea ice cream. It's a hard ice cream yet starts melting quick giving it the perfect consistency. A generous scoop too. I noticed a guy clearing off all the tables and waved him over and said I'm sure you want to get the hell out of here so feel free to clear the table. This was our last unexpected stop in this burb and it will be one of the first next time around. read more
