I'm glad I found this place and no surprise why it has five starts. I'm Honduran and I'm picky about my baleadas. I'm in a diet but had to gift myself some good baleadas just for today. I picked the "simple" order. Two come in the order. The flour tortilla literally reminded me of my grandmas tortillas. I usually take away the edge but this time I ate it all. Now I have to run an extra two miles but it was all worth it. I ended up ordering another two, but the special one. The meat is cut in small pieces so it makes it easy to grab it when eating it. I went to Benito's Place pre-COVID and recently went again, and it's one of the very few places in DC that serves consistently incredible food from year to year. It's a very small establishment that's run by incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff and the food is so good. This most recent time, I had the mole Guerrero, which was a little spicy but delicious. My partner got the carne Molina con tajadas, which came with tortillas and beans. We shared baleadas and a pupusa, both of which were so delicious and you could absolutely tell that they were homemade and made fresh to order. The portions are MASSIVE so we had plenty of leftovers to take home, which I promptly ate the next morning because they were so tasty. It's a very affordable meal that's homemade, high quality, and just so relaxing. Everyone living in or visiting DC should go check this place out! read more

Benito's Place is a Honduran restaurant just outside of Logan Circle. While there are some Mexican and Salvadoran dishes on the menu, this is a Honduran-focused restaurant. I've been several times and have really enjoyed everything I've tried. I've had the pupusa, baleadas, tacos Hondurenos, and pozole verde. The baleadas (do note those contain eggs, which is not listed on the menu) are delicious and the fluffy flour tortillas are great. The tacos Hondurenos are crisp and filling. The pupusa is tasty. But the pozole verde is my favorite. It is rich, thick, and delicious, with plenty of pork and hominy. The service is so fantastic. Everyone is friendly and happy to answer any questions. Benito's Place is usually busy, and even though it's small, you can usually find a table. I love Benito's Place and always look forward to visiting. read more

We were a party of 3, ordered tacos, enchiladas, chips and salsa, modelo and 2 margaritas.... none of us liked the food/entrees, the chips and salsa was good, the $26 margaritas tasted like they used a very cheap tequila and just poured it over ice. The service could use improvement and being in a very diverse area, language barriers shouldn't be a big issue but was. We definitely won't return and definitely won't recommend. read more

Carnitas was the best, followed by asada and chicken. All were a bit dry, but flavor was ok and with the green salsa they were good. -Pupusas: These were my favorite. The pupusas were amazing. Had the queso and revueltas, and both were outstanding, and $2.50 each. Will definitely be back for these. -Carne Asada: Very good, a little salty. Great with salsa/lime. A pretty large portion, served with rice/beans/salad, for $12.50. -Pollo frito: Also good, a little dry but very enjoyable. The plantains were also good, covered with slaw and pickled onions. After driving by Benito's place so many times, we decided to grab takeout this past week. We ordered SO MUCH FOOD and it still only came out to $60. We ordered platanos, enchiladas hondurenas, 4 pupusas, and 2 separate orders of baleadas especiales (one with steak and one with chicken), and chicken fajitas. They also gave us some coleslaw and 3x each type of salsa. So delicious and simple -- I absolutely loved it! Authentic Honduran restaurant. I came here with a friend during our lunch break and we had a great experience. The owners speak English and Spanish and are very nice and accomodating. I ordered three cheese pupusas (a little more than $2 each) and one chicken taco (over $3 each). The pupusas were delicious and very filling, I only ate 2 and took the last one to go. The taco was also good when I mixed in some sauce, but it was a tiny bit dry so I don't think I'll order it again. What a great last-minute decision to come here after reading the reviews. Cleanest home in the wall you'll ever visit - but warm with the revised brick wall. The service was friendly and did is oh so cheap and very, very tasty. I ordered a Honduran enchilada ($3.50; akin Mexican tostadas) and a cheese pupusa ($2.50). The enchilada could be improved by draining the well-seasoned beef so the very sturdy tortilla can stay even crisper, longer. Otherwise, it was perfect - the beef, the garnishes, even the quality of the tortilla. I'm totally asking the server where they get them - the tortilla was THAT good. The pupusa was very good too - sauce was average, but the cabbage garnish was on point. Crispy, just the right amount of butter and sweet and salty. Mmm. Server was a sweetheart, I got my food extremely fast, and it was not crowded on a Wednesday night by closing time (8:30-9). Will be a new staple whenever I'm craving Central American food for sure! If you're looking for inexpensive Honduran food in a friendly environment, Benito's Place is it. Every time I've visited, I've been impressed by both the food and the service. My favorite dish has to be pollo frito con tajadas (fried chicken with plantains). It might take a little longer to make, but it's worth the wait! The sauce on the fried chicken is a little sweeter and is the perfect sweet/savory combination. The plantain side with the cabbage salad is lighter, so you won't feel like you're in a total food coma afterward. If you're in the area and looking for a snack, I highly recommend the pupusas. My friend and I were walking through the neighborhood one weekend and realized we had missed lunch. We ordered a few pupusas (pork & cheese and beans & cheese) and scarfed them down outside while they were still steaming in the cold air. They were the perfect mid-walk snack to keep us moving. During COVID, I've only had takeout here. However, when I've picked up food, I've seen a few people eating indoors. They also have an outdoor picnic table. The restaurant is pretty small, so there isn't a ton of indoor seating, but the pick up process is seamless! read more

Good n cheap, just how I like my Latin food. Bonus if there's leftovers for a full meal the next day! The baleados were a unique dish I haven't gotten at other Latin places, and the portion was huge.
