Also ordered the beef soup BKA sopa de res. The beef was a bit tough (6 out of 10 in tenderness) but it had sweet and salty subtle flavor and two piece of corn on the cob, which is great. Great baleadas and tamales -- some of the best I've had! For real! However I'm sad to say I have to warn others about coming here. The staff was not honest or nice. First, we were waffling about ordering item A or item B. When we changed our mind, our waitress told us it was too late -- it was "already in the system." She refused to take it off, even though we insisted we didn't want it. Then she threw a fit at the table. We asked to keep a menu, but she took both of them anyway. Fine with us! Then when we went to pay they overcharged us at the counter. Somehow $4 for tamales and $8 for baleadas turned into $15.50. We didn't tip and we won't be back. I like Las Catrachitas. I had the carne asada and they swapped the rice for beans. The three ladies working were all smiles and happy. The woman at the cashier's counter took my order and was engaging. I was walking passed and decided to check them out. Lock joint for the local neighborhood. Food was good, salad portion was ok. Food was delicious! However my server Yaquelin is a little thief. Not only she was pressuring me to pay the tab but 15% grat was added to the check which she never told us. So on top of that she still got 20% in addition because that's what I was planning to tip anyway. Mind you her service wasn't the best, she took our drinks before they were done and packed one of my friends meal to go without us asking for it. I've been here several times, and the food is quiet delicious. For me, it is all about the pupusas and retried beans, a yummy taste treat that is always perfect for lunch or a light snack. The food is really authentic, and for the most part, the menu is varied enough to please just about anyone--Ok, maybe not so much if you're a vegan (I'm fairly certain my refried beans were laced with succulent pork). When I arrived the hostess (and main chef woman) confirmed that they gave away my order because I took too long... I've never heard of this in my life. Steak a little tough but very tasty. 5* Next day had fried chicken, rice, black beans and salad. Fried Chicken was large portion and very good. Salad was fresh. I hate to give this place 2 stars. I have been coming to this place for a couple of years. They finally cleaned it up and it appears to be under new management. The only problem is the time, I called a to-go order at 11:18 and I have been sitting here since 11:30 to pick it up it's 12 and they are running around like chickens with no heads. They are not very organize, I told the person working the cash register if they were just preparing my order and he mumbled that they had several orders and that mine was among those. Love this place! I was on en route to my hotel in Alexandria, when I stumbled across this dive. I was in serious need of some Latin cuisine! Upon arrival, I was greeted by a sweet lady. My Spanish sucks but I did get help ordering from a local. I wanted a quick fix and was open to the chef's suggestions. I am so glad I did! The server offered me a complimentary drink while I waited for me meal. We are so accustomed to fast food, a 10 minute wait for real food is a nightmare! However it was worth it. I'm Salvadorean and I love Huevos Rancheros - Since this is a Honduran restaurant I know they make it differently. The lady was really nice, I told her how I wanted it to be and she was so helpful. My boyfriend had ordered something else and ordered one pupusa. The food overall was good but the plantains were hard to chew, it's almost like they give me leftovers from another day and kept microwaving it. The lady who took our order forgot to bring our pupusa as well. Food was delicious minus the plantains and customer service was okay only because they didn't check up on us. read more

Very overpriced. Would never go there again. The lunch special #1 Carne Asada was OK, nothing special. At 10.99 you can get a better deal in a meal...just about anywhere. The refried beans serving was skimpy--seriously, how much do refried beans cost that they can't provide a decent serving?. The salad dressing came in a side container and literally had 1/4 inch in it. You can't put the dressing on the salad you have to dip the lettuce in the container. The lettuce had brown edges.
