I stumbled upon this company at the North Hollywood vegan street fair. The woman handing out samples (who I assume is the owner) has such a warm and radiant energy. Along with the excellent customer service - their food is delicious as can be. I went with their enchiladas with the red sauce, but the sample of the green sauce enchilada was just as good. Their food is a total delicacy. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. The meal comes with rice, beans, and sour cream. Each bite was as good as the previous. Their food is all melt in your mouth good. I swear you can taste the love and care they put into the food. I'm going to be honest. I tried this place at the Vegan Exchange Market in late September and ordered the jackfruit burrito. The wait was long...about 35-40 minutes. I was patient and the young boy ringing up the orders was attentive & sweet. Once I finally got my food & tried the burrito, it was good for the first 3 bites or so. After that, the texture of the food felt weird. I think it's how they prepare the filling. I felt underwhelmed and tired of eating the burrito after only a few minutes and barely felt like finishing it. I figured it could just be what I ordered & I could try something else another day/time. I even chose to follow & support them on Instagram because I like showing love to black owned businesses. Last Sunday on 10/8, I was in line at a vendor next door called NACHO ME VEGAN (they're amazing/one of my favs). One of Benjamin Cuisine's black female workers came to me while I was in another vendor's line to offer me a sample. I thought it was odd/tactless to do that while someone is at another vendor about to buy food. I think it would've been more professional to offer samples while people are walking around already or already in line at their own business. I took the sample for the heck of it; however when the woman walked back to Benjamin Cuisine's side, a man from inside the tent pokes his head out & I noticed him and the sample girl looking at me. Strange. He was saying something to her while looking at me and Sample girl starts giggling while looking my way as well. My first thought was, "is there something in the food?" That would make anyone paranoid. They were still staring. I wondered to myself, "is that supposed to be 'Benjamin'? I noticed he's usually cooking in the back, but once he came to the front, I was confused on why he even felt comfortable doing that in front of potential customers. I went up to Sample Girl to chat & she was acting as if nothing happened. Make it make sense. I wanted her to talk, so I asked her about the sandwiches hoping they may be better than the burrito. I was the one with the umbrella that had clouds on the inside. It was really hot outside. It's disappointing when you realize you can't support a black owned business because they lacked professionalism. Why should I as an HBCU educated black woman support a black owned business like that & spend my hard earned money on them? I simply won't. I unfollowed them on social media as well because their behavior didn't sit right with me and I'd rather go to business that are not uncouth. I've been coming to Vegan Exchange more often and there's a select few vendors who are actually kind & respectful at all times. I always make sure to let them know I appreciate their patience. Unfortunately, I did not have that experience at Benjamin Cuisine and won't be back except to possibly talk about what went down last week. read more

We dropped by the NoHo Vegan Street Fair this afternoon, and decided to try the enchilada pie from Benjamin Cuisine. We tried samples of both the Green and Red pie and ended up having the red enchilada pie, but you couldn't really go wrong with either one. The plate comes with rice and beans, and a generous piece of the enchilada pie. Vegan sour cream and hot sauce are available on request. The enchilada pie was unbelievably good!! The chef really nailed the sauce and the cheese - not easy to do in vegan food. The owner's pride and expertise really shown through in this dish.
