I drove to Thousand Oaks from Encino (rather than going to my more local store in Studo City) due to this store's ability to match colors and because of that I had the pleasure of working with Melissa. Just have to give a rave review to Catalina Paint in Thousand Oaks, CA. I have been going there for years and I am a huge fan of Benjamin Moore paint. The service is consistently stellar. The staff is knowledgeable and ready to help, even with a non-professional like me. I met Henry today in the store, not only was he knowledgeable and friendly, he was also patient and informed me of many aspects of painting I hadn't considered. I was unpleasantly helped by a young arrogant guy with dangle earrings. He wouldn't help me with a color chart and pushed me aside when another customer came in. I noted that I didn't want to pay retail and he kept chirping "do you have an account". I was able to google the color chart while I was waiting and found the product $30 less delivered to my home. He quoted me $160 plus colorant for Cutek my order (Which is a fantastic product!) my order INCLUDED the colorant. It's more about the respect a company gives to customers. If you don't want to help retail savvy shopping than advertise that you are selling to the trade only. FYI there was another (newer) employee trying to help me but was overpowered by this other guy read more

Has there been a change of ownership here ? Went in for samples and the sale kids were all young, unknowledgeable (deer in headlights when I asked for 50%) and lots of punch throwing and wrestling going on behind the counter. Came home to find the two different samples I asked for were actually two of the same colors. That was inconvenient to have to go back. read more

They failed to properly match a Home Depot paint, especially when I was using multiple sheens. When I brought a tinted paint back that didn't match they compared the labels from the two different sheens and saw that there was an issue, but they refused to fix it. They should have sampled it before they put the lid back on to make sure there was a match. What was reprehensible was their attitudes saying "you could go somewhere else?" Instead of offering a solution admitting they made a mistake, They just threw it back on me. I've never had any experience like this at Home depot, which is where I will be going in the future to buy all my paint. They carefully compare samples and check the paint match every time. Truly an awful experience would advise other people to stay away!! read more

Has the business changed hands? I've had good experiences here in the past, but got a pretty short shift from the guy I spoke to today... Definitely got the feeling that I was inconveniencing him by trying to buy paint and he didn't even offer any alternatives when the paint I asked for wasn't in stock. He just told me to go to Camarillo. Then he took a call and ignored me completely as I tried to ask about alternatives. So I just walked out and went to Agoura Paints where the service proved to be infinitely better. Maybe the guy was having an off day, but if you give your customers the impression that you don't care, then people are going to vote with their feet. read more

We had our house painted three years ago. Unfortunately the painters did not leave behind any leftover paint and I had a few touchup areas. I was greeted by the most friendly guy named Doug. He searched high and low in the computer for my previous purchases but unfortunately this particular color was not listed. He offers a service to come to your home and color match your paint. He has an app on his phone with a device that identifies paint colors. Trouble is, he got a different color reading on just about every area he tested. It was determined the painters probably watered down the paint to make it go further. No surprise. He was committed to get it right and after testing just about every wall in my home, he suggested taking a piece of the wall in a discreet area to match it. Keep in mind, the area he took could have been watered down paint or not. Doug was called to work at a different location the next morning but wouldn't you know, he spent the time to create my sample can before he left and it was ready for me when I arrived. I have to tell you, I don't think the color could be any more perfect unless it had come out of the original can. The picture attached shows proof of that. Keep in mind it's not even completely dry. Dropped by here to look at some color samples for new kitchen cabinets. After searching around on our own for awhile we were joined by Doug one of the resident color experts. Within a few minutes of discussing what we had in mind he was able to grab a color that was perfect and one that we had not looked at. Fantastic service.
