Zanna was extremely helpful and patient. It was July 3rd and many, many customers were in the store. She was the only person in the front of the store. She was kind and made sure every person felt they were being taken care of. Her calm demeanor made everyone comfortable. I was buying samples and she was nice enough to tell me about the special where you get paint brushes and sample paint sheets for a really great inexpensive deal. Brian is a hero! He and Michele helped me to color match a sample that will be used to stain shelves in my home. I wanted to get the shelves to match or complement my flooring, which is not a natural or typical color. Michele recommended a color and Brian went back and forth, trying different techniques and formulas to make the match. It's okay, it's alright. I believe, it's just your average paint store. Mainly, I've become a believer in Kelly-Moore Paints, followed by Sherwin-Williams, then Dunn-Edwards. I find the paint quality not as good as the aforementioned two, and just above what you'll find a Home Depot or Lowe's. Service is nice, but again, nothing special...and they've made mistakes not once, but three times. A waste of product (twice), or my money (once). So, a previously painted home gets Dunn-Edwards for touch-up, but that's it. read more

I came here hoping to get some insight on different paint types, finishes and maybe help with color etc but the person working rambled off everything really fast and kept saying it's up to me.... ok but I want help, that's why I'm trying to ask you questions... it's not helpful to tell me it's up to me. I think maybe the girl working here is either really stressed out or on something. I felt very rushed here both times I came in with the same person working there. Weird vibes. I tried to get her to help me a bit more by asking more specific questions, but the whole time it was as if she had so much other stuff to do and couldn't wait to be done with me and move on. Went in to get a paint match for a customer and only got rude bad attitude from the girl( blue hair no name tag) at the counter. Her mood and speech got worse towards me after she said they were out of the type of paint I wanted and I asked where the next closest location was. I didn't take it too personal when I saw that she was just as rude to another customer who walked up after. When I walked outside during my visit to get something from my truck my co worker who stayed inside waiting to see if they had what we needed said she began to say some terrible remarks about me and that is why I give this location 1star. Someone like that shouldn't work in the front of any store as a point of customer service. read more

Without her help, I would not have seen this exciting collection. tl;dr: They make paint recycling easy and have friendly service. Disclaimer: I have never bought anything here or given them any money. What I have done is look for an eco-friendly way to dispose of old and unwanted paint. I found them on the site paintcare.com, a national listing site for locations to drop off unwanted paint. There are a few requirements for dropping off paint here: (This is not all of them. Just the ones I remember.) - Max 20 gallons per day per person (capacity as stated on container, not as how much is remaining) - No aerosols (aka, spray-paint) - All cans must be in original containers with labels I walked in on a Saturday morning and was greeted with a smile at the front counter. I asked where could I drop off my eight 1-gallon containers? Right here, the woman beamed back. I brought all eight in, and she cheerily confirmed, "You're all set! Thank you!" It's service like this, even for something that is not a revenue generator for them, that leaves me with a positive impression of the place. read more

This was a great experience from start to finish. Normally, I would buy paint at Home Depot or whatever. When I go to a big store like that, I don't feel like I have personalized service. Here, it was completely different from that and I'll never go back to the other stores! When I walked in, Chris, the manager was immediately welcoming. He walked me through my entire visit! He helped me pick the perfect paint color for what I was looking for, purchase everything I needed to be ready to go at home, and answered any and all questions I had. The other reviewer was being generous. Worst customer service for a paint store. No greeting, no prices, no labels on paint chips. It is clearly for professionals that get supplies for work, not helpful for the DIY customer. I'd go to Home Depot for better prices or sherwin Williams for better service. Extremely satisfied with this locations customer service and their ability to deliver excellent paint! I live in Simi Valley, but unfortunately was not very satisfied with the Simi Valley Dunn-Edwards location's ability to provide quality satisfaction. I went out on a limb and drove to their next locations in Thousand Oaks, to give them another chance... This location was awesome! The staff was incredibly friendly, fast, and attentive. The young lady working the desk helped me find exactly what I was looking for and at a price I wasn't expecting to get! Their paint of course was well mixed and held extremely well on my bedroom wall with one coat. I have been here many times trying to first, find the right paint color and second, buy my paint color. The energy is always way off with the associates. They act as though they are being put out when trying to help you. You have to pull a number and wait your turn as long as the associates are paying attention! They will also ignore the numbers and take the people standing at the counter, but don't get mad because they don't give a shit! They do have great quality of paint, but I would chose another paint store if it meant better service..... read more

If you want good old fashioned Customer service, Dunn Edwards in Thousand Oaks is the place to go. Rebecca, the color specialist is amazing when it comes to helping you to decide the perfect color for your home. The facility is spotless, organized and the staff is over the top helpful. They carry the paint out to your car, and when you have leftover, they are so accommodating to helping you dispose of it. One of my favorite places to go when I want an inexpensive way to completely change a room. So thankful my Dunn Edwards is so close to my home. Customer for life. read more

I have been getting my paint here for years. The color consultant, Rebecca is wonderful and helpful, the paint is good quality, and paint disposal is wonderful. But it ends there. Customer service from every other employee has been TERRIBLE!!!!!. They have been rude, put out, very unhelpful. Wait times are always long. I go there for the color consultant but don't even think about asking a question from rest of the crew without receiving completely sarcastic response. The atmosphere has been toxic like that for many years. Unfortunate to have so many unhelpful and rude people. read more

Only come here if you are a contractor or already know the paint you want and you're just ordering it. If you are just a layman, trying to get samples to see how those colors look on your front door, STAY AWAY! The store is the most un-customer-friendly store I've ever been too. There is a wall-stand full of colors with paint chip samples. However, there is no identification as to what paints are for interior or exterior only, only come in certain shines/glosses, or whether you can get an actual sample in that color. The people are helpful, but only after spending 20 mins in line, waiting to talk to them. Then you most likely have to get out of line, pick up other colors that meet your requirements, and then get back into the 20 min line. And the 20 min line DOES NOT include the time it takes for them to mix the paint and get out of there. The workers seem very busy and don't have time to spend with you. If you're a layman, and want to get paint, try Home Depot or OSH. At least someone will tell you how to read the paint chips and tell you whether they can make a sample for that color. read more

Poor customer service. Sales rep acted impatient and disinterested in assisting me. I tried to show him pictures of my nearly completed project, in order for him to guide me in purchasing the appropriate materials (the correct wood filler and caulking). He refused to look at the photos. I felt as if I were being blown off, as if I was wasting his time. In the end, what he recommended was completely wrong, after I sought advice from another paint professional. Very disappointing Dunn Edwards. I've spent big $$$$$ at your location. We had Ellen help us to select colors to paint our house. I came in with inspiration pictures of what I was looking for and Ellen was instrumental in directing us in the right way. What I really liked about working with Ellen is the fact she listened to what I liked and looked at the inspiration pictures and would have more than one suggestion of what would look good with our floor color, decor and furniture. We painted more than 6 rooms in house in different colors, but the colors look amazing together! I would not been able to achieve this look without Ellen's help!! I absolutely love the colors and how everything turned out. :) We purchased the color consultation package and additional time for Ellen to come to our house and I highly recommend doing this! It's a great program that Dunn Edwards provides and I would recommended to everyone! Ellen also had great interior design ideas as well. I really enjoyed working with her!! Things didn't quite go as planned as yelp so quickly reminds you. Coming into a store especially a smaller one like this here, you would expect a smaller number of employees to be able to adhere to their own rules, posted outside of their front door in both English and Spanish. Chris Campbell the assistant manager and another employee were okay with dealing with customer with no mask on. You don't have a mask on you pick your nose and start picking up merchandise for customers like the unnamed employee did with a number of clients. It completely defeats the purpose of any safety measures the company has set in place when management and staff do not abdie by the ruling. I would like to say this is the first time encountering this within a Dunn Edward's location. Those stores in and around the area dont seem to have a problem following their own company protocol. I'll stick to the Chesboro location during these times. read more

This review is for color advisor Ellen. She was extremely helpful. She knew exactly what we like " American Coastal Style" , but we got stuck with an orange exotic granite countertops in a very open floor plan. In the end, she helped me to choose perfect colors and I couldn't b happier. BEST $100 I've ever spent for our remodeling. Sadly, she had to serve for 50 miles radius (bit far for her in my opinion especially in Los Angeles traffic). I would recommend Dunn Edwards hire more field color adivsors like her. I occasionally shop at the Dunn-Edwards in Thousand Oaks, CA. It seems to me that they're geared more toward professionals than homeowners, so I'm guessing that's why some folks who leave reviews feel less than taken care of there. I usually go in my painting clothes, and find they take me more seriously 'cause I look like a pro, even though I'm just painting my house. I also sometimes use my friend's account to order paint, and get his professional prices. Dunn-Edwards paints are great quality, but their prices reflect that. If you know what you want, this is a good store for you. If you're a homeowner and have questions, probably better to go somewhere else, but I'd recommend them if you can afford their prices. read more

If I hadn't started out with Dunn Edwards, using their swatch book to coordinate everything in my house, I wouldn't come here. They aren't exactly RUDE...more like Not At All Interested in Your Business. The waits are ridiculous, even when there are only a couple people ahead of you. They usually pretend not to see you if they can get away with it. And their "contractor prices" annoy me because I know I'm getting ripped off because I'm just a lowly DIY'er. Just bought a house, and needed to paint some rooms. I always use Dunn Edwards. Good quality paint, and great service. They also have a service I didnt know about. They send a color coordinator to your house for a $100 consultation fee, but you get a $50 gift card, and about $20 in samples. So, your basically getting a consultation for $30, for about an hour from a professional to help you with colors in your house. That's awesome! Neil G read more
