A few days ago I needed to get some key copies made so I was nearby and went in. I asked where the key copying was and a guy pointed to the far back corner. I went over there and sat on the chair near the cash register because I was not feeling well, and saw a guy 20 feet away with the sun behind him, he was not wearing a red Ace jacket like others there did, and I asked "do you work here?" His reply was, I've been pretty accurate here, "no I just like cleaning up stuff for fun in my spare time." I was sitting on the chair by the cash register which should be enough for him to say don't sit on the chair by the cash register, I felt that was very rude but perhaps he would follow up with a OK but how can I help you. No. That was all he said and then he continued cleaning up around the key duplication machine for another minute or two before I said that I would like some key copies. He had a short name perhaps three letters? I went and paid at the register, asked a guy if he was the manager and he said yes and I told him what happened. I said someone like this shouldn't be working anywhere, much less at an ace hardware store. If you're interested it did seem that they had lots and lots of supplies and things that one might need, but I think that there could be other better, nicer, friendlier and perhaps cheaper, do your own research, places to go by whatever it is that you might need.

I moved to Simi Valley about a year ago from the greater Los Angeles area, hoping to escape lack of civility, crowds, and general city issues like lines and forever traffic. I have to say, Simi Valley has been a delightful surprise! It's such a safe and friendly community where everyone is eager to lend a hand, very "Mayberry" in fact. I often wonder if Andy Griffith is the actual sheriff . [A joke of course]. Even though it's a larger area, I still love that it maintains a cozy "city" vibe with everything you could possibly need, just like in LA. One of my favorite local spots is DIY--it makes you feel truly valued the moment you walk in. The staff is super welcoming and always ready to assist you, unlike those big hardware chains in LA where you can wander around for ages before someone notices you! There's a couple of friendly kitties lounging around also. Recently, I found myself in a bit of a bind because my power was shut off for about 5 days due to the recent fires, so I couldn't use my tools at home for this project.. I popped into DIY to grab a solid 10ft steel pipe for a flagpole to support my Starlink, and that's where Raemon really came to the rescue! He was incredibly helpful, drilling the holes I needed, searching for the correct bolts and screws I needed, even offering to deliver the pipe to my home since I didn't have a vehicle that could handle it. I really appreciated that he took the time to help, especially since he was about to clock out. I tried to offer him a tip and gas money, but he initially refused, though I insisted! Thank you so much, Raemon--you truly made my Starlink mission a success, and I'm so grateful!

I'll preface the bad with the good. The customer service and the employees have been great for the five years that I've been shopping there. There has always been an abundance of inventory and I've always been able to find what I need. Six months ago, something changed. I picked up three bags of horse feed, and when I opened the first one, it was so full of black mold that I could not breathe. I took that bag out of my feed room and brought in the next one and the same thing, a bag of black mold. I didn't bother opening the third bag and called the store. When I spoke to Matt, I offered to take pictures of what was inside those bags, but he explained to me that he needed the bags back, so I had to tape them shut, reload them in my truck, and drive them back to the store (52 miles round-trip) in the pouring rain. Bags were exchanged dollar for dollar, no discount offered for the inconvenience, barely an apology. I came away from that experience figuring it was a one off. Writing a Yelp review, never entered my mind. It's not something that I do with any regularity. Yesterday, and the reason for this review, I walked into the bagged feed room to load my bags on my cart and everywhere I stepped there were rodent feces, rats, mice, etc., on the floor, and amongst the pallets of bags of which many were visibly gnawed. Tractor Supply Moorpark has a rodent infestation in their feed room. There is shit everywhere. When I brought this problem to Matt's attention, he told me that squirrels and mice get into the feed room. I pointed out the rat feces and he didn't acknowledge the rats. I told him this looks like an infestation and that he should probably call his corporate office to come up with a solution. He said Corporate had been called and they had been out to the store. He said he did not know what the plan was for a resolution. When I told Matt he lost a longtime customer he said nothing, he turned and walked away. No apology, no is there anything I can do to keep you as a customer. Nothing. Tractor Supply Corporate, whatever you are doing, or not doing, to rectify this problem, you need to do better. Matt has been my go to guy and has always been very helpful. Yesterday was different. I wonder if TSC Corporate's lack of movement in rectifying this situation is starting to affect employee morale. I'd wager that it is. Your employees are working in unhealthy conditions. They are your first line to your customer. They are important. Take care of them. Resolve this situation.
