I went there couple months back. Order garlic chicken, some curry and pad thai. All the food is good.

We stopped by for dinner and were excited to try some Thai food in the area. We were seated very quickly and happy to see that the restaurant is not only clean but very warm and inviting. Our server was also very kind and friendly, checking in on us and making sure we always had enough water at all times. Our food came in fairly quickly, and I especially loved the curry flavor from two of our dishes. The portions were perfect for one meal each, since we were all able to finish quickly. My one critique is the noodles were extra soft, but I'm also not familiar with the dish and that could be how they normally are. Besides that, the taste of everything was great, and I'm happy to see something like this in the area! read more

I went to Rice Up for lunch during a weekday with a colleague and it wasn't too busy inside. The restaurant has some nice decor and they really blast the bass of the music! Our server and waitress was super friendly and accommodating. I got the lunch special which was a small entree of garlic beef with rice and a side of pad thai. Food came out hot and quick. The garlic beef was so delicious! Super tender and full of savory garlic flavor. The crunchy veggies was a great touch as well. The pad Thai noodles are sweet, salty, and sour and had a great bite to the noodle. It may be a small serving size for some but it was perfect for me and I left stuffed! Such friendly service and delicious food. I will definitely come back when in the area!! read more

Have to say, I've been very underwhelmed by this place over the past couple months. The portions have gotten MUCH smaller, and they've changed some of the recipes (like the Crispy Garlic Chicken), which is really disappointing. I just ordered 4 entrees here last night for 4 people and it was barely enough food. Usually, I have leftovers, didn't have any this time. Also, the meat in our curry and noodle dishes had tons of fatty, inedible pieces. I'm really sad that this place has gone down hill, it was my favorite Thai food in the area, but I don't think I'll be ordering here any time soon. Maybe ownership changed? This review is solely based on the food, as we ordered our food to-go. I can definitely say that I was not expecting much from a Thai spot all the way in Lake Stevens. I had relatively low expectations coming in, but each item we ordered blew me away. We had the papaya salad (5 stars spice level) and while many other Thai restaurants dumb down the spice even for 5 stars, the spice was was definitely there at Rice Up Thai. The other dish I tried was the Ka Prou Gai Kai Dow. This is one of my all time favorite Thai dishes. This was also ordered at 5 stars spice and it also did not disappoint. There is a large variety of menu items so I would definitely come back and try some other dishes the next time that I am in the area. read more

Pretty underwhelmed by tonight's dinner. The phad Thai lacked flavor and was dry and bland, and the crispy garlic chicken (which we always order extra chicken on) was the size of a regular portion. I called and was assured it was extra and I was that was disappointing. (I also agree with the other review saying they changed their breading or recipe because it is not the same as it used to be, which was way more flavorful and better) This used to be our go to spot for the last 5-7 years.... but the last two times we have not been impressed. We won't be going back and will be choosing other Thai restaurants. My photo is after i did a small scoop out, but it was just blah. We also ordered 3 stars and there was zero heat. I've grown up in Seattle as well as Southeast Asia, so I can say I've definitely had my fair share of Thai food. I do feel like this place is a little pricey, but I also think it's worth the cost considering the location (just down the street of where I live), the employees, and the taste of the food. The menu is pretty extensive so there are definitely some dishes that aren't that great. However, the food that is good, is no joke, are some of the best dishes I've had. So I'd say make sure to give this place a couple tries before deciding if you like it or not and order a variety of things. I'm am obsessed with their pad thai. The noodles are cooked perfectly, they're not mushy and are the perfect size. The pad thai is also just so saucy here, and their sauce is good! It's not ketchupy, which can be an issue sometimes, and it's not drenched in straight up fish sauce and only fish sauce. The pad kee mao also surpised me here as well! like the pad thai, it's saucy, and the sauce tastes good! Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good comfort food. We typically order from another Thai place in town but wanted to try something new and this has been recommended to us. We did a to go order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. When I walked in there was a very upbeat atmosphere and probably eight or so people working. Several orders lined up meant it likely had to be good food. My husband got the pad see ew and I got the pad Thai - both chicken and both four stars. We both loved our meals and the heat was up there! If you only want a little spice I would recommend going lower but we love spicy. I am curious to know what the five star is like. There was enough for us both to have lunch the next day as well. What's up? Rice Up is the answer! Tucked away in a strip mall is this Thai gem and it is an great find. It is decorated well and very busy with take out orders when we arrived. We were quickly seated. With the doors always opening and closing you can get a draft so if you are weary of the cold weather, wear a sweater. Now onto the food. We quickly browsed the menu and ordered: 1) potstickers - the kids wanted potstickers. We ordered them and they were piping hot and crisp. Really tasty. 2) Chicken satay. We got (4ea) generous sized skewers. Juicy and hot and served with a little slaw, some pickled vegetables and peanut sauce. This was good and had a nice curry flavor to it. 3) Massamun curry - good and full of tender carrots and potatoes. 4) Crispy garlic chicken - so crispy and tender. Sweet and savory and basily. Can't go wrong with this one! 5) Phad see ew - this one was standard fare for me. Not the best, but still made well. 6) Honey pork with sticky rice. This was my favorite for the evening and the kids loved it as well. Note this was a special that had and not a regular menu item (though it should be!). Overall this place is friendly, clean and provides really tasty food. We would definitely come back there for more! read more

Ordered take out Tom Yum Bowl ( Beef,1* ) Specified to be 1 star. Paid $21.46. This is the price of soup $17.99 + tax + 10% tip. We picked it up. The soup consisted from water + spices + a few raw mushrooms and some beef. And I mean SPICES. It was not "1 star" but inedible - so hot!!! The woman on the phone told me that their soup base is spicy and "everyone knows that". Also advised me to calm down and boil some water to add and dilute the spice. No refund offered, no replacement. After I managed to calm down I did boil some water. Which didn't help of course. I just separated with $22 in exchange for nothing. Never again at this place even though we have been loyal customers for years. Never, ever. read more

My mother comes here all the time. Usually, it is a good experience. Today, we ordered takeout: spice level 3 phad won sen and spice level 2 phad thai. We started eating and noticed the spice levels were way hotter from what we are used to (her and I both like spicy food). My mother gets the same dish and spice level every time so she could easily tell it was way hotter than usual. We called to ask if the spice levels changed and they said no. We explained the situation and the woman on the phone responded with, "Well what do you want me to do? We haven't gotten any other complaints". We were respectful and rational on the phone so it was quite disappointing to have zero accommodation in addition to the woman being unthoughtful on the phone. We had a super weird encounter at this place. We usually do Bua but we were near the restaurant and figured we would stop in. We were seated promptly and waitress seemed pleasant enough. Then it got strange. My husband misunderstood the lunch special and thought that the soup that was included was the dumpling soup so mentioned it as he ordered when he was discussing what he wanted for the lunch (soup is complimentary - he accidentally said he wanted dumpling soup bc he assumed that was what the type of soup was). The waitress misunderstood and brought out an entire soup order. Um ok mistakes happen. We would have probably just eaten it and dealt with the cost except that it had shrimp and my husband has anaphylaxis to shellfish. This is where it gets bizarre. She told us that she would have to pay for the soup now herself and that we needed to pay for it so it didn't come out of her paycheck and wouldn't return it. Um...what is going on with your management? She looked really upset and we agreed it was a mistake and to split the difference but at this point I wasn't super hungry. She kept coming and hounding us about the issue and telling us it wasn't fair that she would have to pay for the soup if we didn't. Uh, I agree it isn't fair...but anytime I returned something because of a mixup the restaurant ate the cost and I gave the waiter/waitress a nice tip for the difference. At this point I had lost my appetite...the table next to us was looking over at us a little amused and she kept badgering us about it. I feel badly her management would make her pay for it herself, and we split the cost with her and told them to keep the soup but the whole thing was weird. They saved $7 but lost two customers and lots of other meals...so hopefully it was worthit to them. read more

Upon arrival you await someone to seat you. I arrived with a party of 6. 3 adults, 3 children. There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived in the afternoon (around 4 pm), but as time progressed more people arrived. It looks small from the outside, but there are quite a few tables inside. The hostess/cashier/server was very helpful and sweet. She helped me pick out one of her favorite meals. After ordering, our meals were prepared fairly quickly. I ordered calamari. The batter was light and crispy and was accompanied by a sweet side dipping sauce. I devoured it. I sampled my cousins prawn rolls. Crispy goodness! I ordered Tom Kha. Medium Spicy. My favorite dish that I ordered. Rich Coconut based broth. Onions, mushrooms, shrimp, herbs. I wish it had slightly more of each of those additions, but other than that, this soup was delicious. I also ordered Phad Woon Sen medium spicy. It had good flavor, but it was a little dry for me. I added it to my Tom Kha and ate it almost like a ramen and it was chef's kiss lol. I enjoyed Rice Up Thai very much. Definitely try this spot out for yourself. read more

Solid Thai restaurant with quick service and kind employees. I was visiting friends who just recently moved to Lake Stevens and we ordered takeout to take back to the house. We ordered the Green Curry, Phad See Ew, and Pharam Peanut Sauce. When I called in the order, the person that took the order told me 15 minutes. My friend's house was less than 10 minutes away and when we got there, the food was all ready and waiting for us. Rice Up Thai Cuisine is located in a strip mall next to the Grocery Outlet, but when you walk in, you're whisked away into a bright modern interior. The dining area looked very clean and new. As I approached the front, I was greeted with a friendly cashier. Before paying, he let me know that there was a 5% discount if I paid in cash. I obliged and got my discount, which was nice adding the extra money I saved to the tip. The food was well packed. Two of the entrees came with rice and we asked for brown rice since we were cooking white rice at home. They were generous with rice, which was a positive. Everything tasted fine. It was delicious and we enjoyed it. If you're a fan of Thai food made in the U.S., you'd enjoy it. Was there anything that was uniquely outstanding about it? i wouldn't say so. The green curry tasted like green curry and the phad see ew tasted like your normal phad see ew. The only thing I did have an issue with is the beef in the phad see ew was a little overcooked. Maybe the beef cooked longer on the ride back home, but it was a little on the tough side. Other than that, we enjoyed the entrees. If you're looking for Thai food in Lake Stevens, I'd give this place a shot. Food always tastes better when you're dining in, but I'd be just as happy getting takeout here too. read more

I've been coming here every few weeks for takeout for about a couple years. I've always known it wasn't the greatest, compared to what you'll find in Seattle or Bellevue, but the food was good enough and generous, and the people taking my order are always friendly and helpful, and the drive is easy from Marysville. However recently the portions are noticeably shrunk down, and my pork dish had meat that was low quality and mostly gristle, which I mostly threw out. I ordered from Rice up for the first time and loved the friend rice, it had great flavor, enough spicy for me!!

Unfortunately this used to be my go to, my favorite Thai spot that I would treat myself towards on occasion. And they had the crispy garlic chicken which was one of my all time favorite dishes to order out. But recently they changed the dish, at least the breading, and now it's like any other old chicken dish out there you can get since it's essentially just sweet and sour chicken with the garlic sauce instead. No crunch, no texture unlike the old recipe they used not long ago. And to top it off they changed the to go boxes that hold far less food within them because of all the little plastic sections inside the container vs the old wide paper like boxes that would be stuffed to the brim. I used to be able to split this dish into two meals and now I eat it in one sitting wanting more food. Unless it happens to change back to the original recipe I don't see myself wishing to pay $19+ for the dish. Nor a reason to return.. read more
